		                        			 BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES:
		                        			Isoflavones are estrogen-like compounds found in plants and their health effects remain equivocal. We investigated dietary isoflavone intake and its associated factors in Korean breast cancer survivors, with a comparison to cancer-free women. 
		                        		
		                        			SUBJECTS/METHODS:
		                        			The usual dietary intake of breast cancer survivors (n = 981, mean age 52 yrs) in 9 hospitals between 2012 and 2019 was assessed using 3-day food records or food frequency questionnaires (FFQs). They were age-matched to 2,943 cancer-free women who completed FFQs as part of a nationwide study conducted between 2012 and 2016. We used the flavonoid database of common Korean foods and the Phenol-Explorer database to estimate isoflavone intake. The contribution of each food or food group to the total isoflavone intake was calculated. The adjusted least-squares means of dietary isoflavone intake according to lifestyle and clinical factors were calculated using generalized linear models. 
		                        		
		                        			RESULTS:
		                        			Breast cancer survivors had a higher mean dietary isoflavone intake (23.59 mg/day) than cancer-free women (17.81 mg/day). Major food sources, including tofu, soybeans, and doenjang, contributed to over 70% of the isoflavone intake in both groups. When we estimated dietary isoflavone intake according to lifestyle characteristics, isoflavone intake increased with higher scores of adherence to the American Cancer Society dietary guidelines but decreased with increasing body mass index in both groups. Among cancer-free women, dietary isoflavone intake was higher among those who had never smoked and among dietary supplement users. Among breast cancer survivors, dietary isoflavone intakes did not vary with clinical characteristics, including time since surgery and estrogen receptor status. 
		                        		
		                        			CONCLUSION
		                        			Breast cancer survivors were more likely to consume isoflavones than agematched cancer-free women. Dietary isoflavone intake was associated with healthy lifestyle characteristics in women both with and without breast cancer. 3.Delayed Diagnosis of Imported Cystic Echinococcosis and Successful Treatment With Percutaneous Drainage and Albendazole in Korea: A Case Report

		                        			 Echinococcosis, caused by the tapeworm Echinococcus, is rare in Korea and is primarily imported from endemic areas. We report a case of a 37-year-old Korean man with multiple large hepatic cysts, initially diagnosed as simple cysts at a local clinic in 2018. The patient had lived in Oman, an endemic area, for several months in 2016. Upon referral to a tertiary hospital in 2023, due to progressive cyst enlargement, liver magnetic resonance imaging revealed three large cysts with a water lily sign. Serum IgG against Echinococcus was positive by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. After diagnosis of echinococcosis, treatment with albendazole and puncture-aspiration-injection-reaspiration (PAIR) was performed.Microscopic and molecular analysis of cyst aspirates confirmed Echinococcus granulosus infection. Follow-up computed tomography demonstrated a reduction in cyst size, yet the emergence of a new right pleural effusion and consolidation in the left lower lobe of the lung necessitated the continuation of albendazole therapy. This case highlights the importance of thorough travel history, imaging findings, and the effectiveness of PAIR combined with albendazole in treating imported echinococcosis. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
4.Fact sheet: nationwide trends in dietary intakes among Korean adults, 2013-2022

		                        			 Background/Aims:
		                        			Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. This study aimed to investigate the recent nationwide trends in major dietary risk factors for dyslipidemia and atherosclerosis. 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			We estimated age-standardized mean intakes of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, whole grains, dietary fiber, and sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs); and mean percentage of energy intake from protein, total fat, saturated fat, and polyunsaturated fat using nationally representative samples from the Korean National Health Examination and Nutrition Survey 2013–2022. To assess overall diet quality, we calculated mean Korean Healthy Eating Index (KHEI) (range 0–100, higher scores indicating greater diet quality). 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			In 2013–2022, there were overall decreasing trends in age-standardized mean KHEI score and intakes of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and dietary fiber; and overall increasing trends in mean intakes of SSBs, protein, and dietary fat among both male and female. The KHEI score increased in older adults aged ≥ 60 years, whereas it decreased among younger adults. Throughout the study period, younger adults tended to have lower intakes of fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, and whole grains; higher intakes of SSBs, protein, and dietary fat; and lower KHEI score. The mean KHEI score was lower in male (vs. female) and lower (vs. higher) income groups. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusions
		                        			Our data suggest that, from 2013 to 2022, there was a trend toward an unhealthy diet in Korean adults. 		                        			 Idiopathic nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (iNSIP) is recognized as a distinct entity among various types of idiopathic interstitial pneumonias. It is identified histologically by the nonspecific interstitial pneumonia pattern. A diagnosis of iNSIP is feasible once secondary causes or underlying diseases are ruled out. Usually presenting with respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath and cough, iNSIP has a subacute or chronic course. It predominantly affects females aged 50 to 60 years who are non-smokers. Key imaging findings on chest high-resolution computed tomography include bilateral reticular opacities in lower lungs, traction bronchiectasis, reduced lung volumes and, ground-glass opacities. Abnormalities are typically diffuse across both lungs with subpleural distributions. Treatment often involves systemic steroids, either alone or in combination with other immunosuppressants, although evidence supporting effectiveness of these treatments is limited. Prognosis is generally more favorable for iNSIP than for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, with many studies reporting a 5-year survival rate above 70%. Antifibrotic agents should be considered in a condition, termed progressive pulmonary fibrosis, where pulmonary fibrosis progressively worsens. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
6.Analysis of vancomycin-associated adverse reactions using a common data model

		                        			 Purpose:
		                        			Many studies using a common data model (CDM) have recently been reported. This study aims to determine the prevalence and clinical characteristics of vancomycin-associated adverse drug reactions (ADRs) using CDM and to identify its usefulness in ADRs. 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			This study was conducted from the OMOP-CDM (Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership-CDM) version 5.3 database of Convergence Medical Institute of Technology, Pusan National University Hospital. The study cohort was defined as patients who had taken vancomycin for more than 7 days and had normal blood tests within 1 week before administration. ADRs included neutropenia, eosinophilia, thrombocytopenia, drug-induced liver injury, and acute kidney injury. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			The most frequent ADR to vancomycin was thrombocytopenia (18.32%), followed by neutropenia (7.81%), acute kidney injury (5.85%), eosinophilia (5.32%), and drug-induced liver injury (4.15%). The baseline hematologic values were closer to the reference value of ADR definition in patients who developed ADRs than those without ADRs, even though the values were within the normal range. Acute kidney injury was common in males and the patients had high vancomycin trough concentrations. The period of vancomycin exposure was longer in the ADR groups. The incidence of new adverse reactions was highest for thrombocytopenia, and it was higher in males than in females, except for neutrophilia. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			This study examined the prevalence, incidence rates, and clinical features of vancomycin-associated ADR using CDM.
