Objective:This study aimed to assess left atrial function in adults across various age groups using 4-dimensional automated left atrial quantification(4D Auto LAQ)technology. The study also aimed to compare the differences in two-dimensional(2D)and four-dimensional(4D)strains of the left atrium among different age groups, with the goal of enhancing the clinical utility of 4D Auto LAQ.Methods:A total of 409 healthy volunteers were recruited for the research.Two-dimensional and four-dimensional images were obtained using a GE Vivid E95 ultrasound system with a 4Vc four-dimensional probe. The study examined variations in 2D and 4D ultrasound parameters across various age groups.Furthermore, the relationship between left atrial reservoir strain(LASr), Left atrial conduit strain(LAScd), left atrial contraction strain(LASct), and age was explored. Results:The study involved 409 volunteers, with 217 males and 192 females, who were categorized into three age groups: young(18-45 years, n=56), middle-aged(46-65 years, n=202), and elderly(>65 years, n=151).Conventional ultrasound measurements indicated changes in left atrial anterior-posterior diameter with age progression: (31.70±3.65)mm for the young group, (34.02±3.91)mm for the middle-aged group, and(35.2±4.37)mm for the elderly group( P<0.01).The 2D and 4D left atrial parameters across the age groups were as follows: LASr(2D)(%): 37.48±7.51, 30.95±8.23, 26.9±7.56( P<0.01); LA VImax(ml/m 2): 23.54±5.79, 26.33±7.6, 28.99±8.15( P<0.01); LASr(%): 31.2±17.07, 22.5±8.59, 19.49±7.47( P<0.01).Both 2D and 4D left atrial parameters exhibited significant associations with age.Specifically, the correlations between LASr(2D)(%), LAScd(2D)(%), LASr(%), LAScd(%), and age were -0.429, 0.580, -0.354, 0.298, respectively( P<0.01). Conclusions:The 4D Auto LAQ technology is efficient in assessing left atrial function across various age groups, with age playing a significant role in influencing left atrial parameters. When compared to other ultrasound parameters, both 2D and 4D left atrial strain parameters have the ability to detect differences at an early stage, making them suitable for the early screening, evaluation, and monitoring of age-related left atrial dysfunction, especially in the elderly population.

Objective:To explore the implicit bias of body image measurement in young and middle-aged people using implicit relational assessment procedure (IRAP) .Methods:ProQuest, Scopus, EBSCO, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, WanFang data, and VIP databases were systematically searched to collect articles on the use of IRAP to measure implicit bias in body image in young and middle-aged populations. The retrieval period was from the establishment of the databases to December 15, 2023. Meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.4 software. Results:A total of 11 articles were included. The results of the Meta-analysis showed that the score of D general (reaction time index of pro-thinness and anti-fat) was 0.09 (95% CI: 0.07~0.11, P<0.01), indicating that compared with overweight/obesity, young and middle-aged people had a strong sense of identification with thinness and a stronger desire for thinness. The score of D thin (reaction time index of pro-thinness) was 0.26 (95% CI: 0.12~0.39, P<0.01), indicating that young and middle-aged people' reaction speed was faster when they agreed with thinness and participants had the desire to be thin. The score of D fat (reaction time index of anti-obesity) was -0.09 (95% CI: -0.21~0.03, P>0.05), indicating that young and middle-aged people had no bias against overweight/obesity. Conclusions:Young and middle-aged people generally have the performance of implicit thinness, with a strong desire for thinness and no implicit bias towards overweight.

Objective:To document the clinical features of children with cerebral palsy (CP) using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).Methods:The gross motor functioning of 325 children diagnosed as having CP was graded using the gross motor function classification system (GMFCS). The GMFCS grades were correlated with MRI results in univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses. The significance of any relationship between the MRI results and co-morbidities was tested using chi-squared tests. Results:Cerebral dysplasia, cerebroventricular enlargement, periventricular leukomalacia (PVL), abnormal signals in the thalami, and morphological changes after hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy were all found to be significantly correlated with GMFCS grading. Moreover, the chi-squared tests indicated that PVL children, children with thinning of the corpus callosum and/or abnormal signals in the thalami were significantly more likely to have visual, auditory or speech impairment complications and/or mental retardation. Conclusions:The findings from MRI correlate well with types of CP, GMFCS grades and co-morbidities among CP children. MRI can be an effective tool for early diagnosis and prognosis of CP in children, indicating needs for clinical rehabilitation.

Objective:To compare the differences in sleep structure between healthy children and children with cerebral palsy (CP) using polysomnography (PSG).Methods:Fifty-six children aged 1-15 hospitalized for cerebral palsy formed the experimental group, while 30 healthy children served as controls. Both groups were given 24-hour PSG, and their sleep structures were compared and analyzed. Results:The incidence of sleep disorders in the children with cerebral palsy (55.4%) was significantly higher than among the healthy children (20.0%). The average sleep latency was significantly higher than among the healthy children, while the duration and the percentage of the rapid eye movement (REM) stage were significantly lower than among the healthy children. Total sleep time [(458.47±95.62)min], sleep efficiency [(74.26±13.63)%], duration of REM [(68.90±42.70)min] and REM percentage [(13.87±7.12)%] were all significantly lower for the children with severe cerebral palsy than for those with mild or moderate disorder. Their time to wake up after falling asleep was significantly longer. Moreover, the duration of REM and the REM percentage of children with dyskinetic cerebral palsy were significantly lower than for those with spastic cerebral palsy. Conclusions:The incidence of sleep disorders among children with cerebral palsy is higher than among healthy children. They have more difficulty in falling asleep and have a shorter REM stage. Children with severe cerebral palsy and involuntary cerebral palsy have more sleep problems.
