ObjectiveTo investigate the prevenance rate and related factors of anxiety among the public before and after outbreak of COVID-19, and to provide scientific guidance for public health emergency response in psychological intervention field. MethodsBy using the convenient sampling method, residents in Chinese mainland participated in predesigned questionnaire survey from February 7th to February 14th, 2020, meantime, all the selected individuals were assessed using Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). The anxiety status was also retrospectively evaluated before January 20th, prior to the outbreak. Thereafter, a before-and-after comparison was conducted on the anxiety status, and the related influencing factors were discussed. ResultsA total of 1 222 valid questionnaires were collected, with a valid rate of 93.8%. After the outbreak, the number of people with anxiety symptoms increased from 90 (7.4%) to 172 (14.1%), with statistical difference (P<0.01). The SAS score increased from (40.65±10.43) to (36.32±8.46), with statistical difference (P<0.01). For overall sample, the independent risk factors of anxiety aggravation included serious disruptions of daily life (P<0.01), older age (P<0.01), female (P<0.01), poor education background (P=0.005), occupied in medical staff (P=0.031) and lack of medical education (P=0.039). For medical staff, the independent risk factors of anxiety aggravation included sense of being-alienated (P<0.01), older age (P<0.01), female (P=0.002) and serious disruptions of daily life (P=0.044). ConclusionThe prevalence rate of anxiety is increased after the outbreak of COVID-19, especially among the general public with serious disruptions of daily life, older age, females, poor education background, and the lack of medical education, and among medical staff with sense of being-alienated, older age, females, and serious disruptions of daily life.

Objective: To study the effect of berberine (BR) on ventricular remodeling in experimental rats with myocardial infarction (MI) and its mechanisms.
Methods: The MI model of experimental rats was established by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery and the MI animals were randomly divided into 3 groups: MI+BR group, in which the rats received BR 20 mg/kg.d, Sham group and MI group, the rats in those 2 groups received the same volume of normal saline. All animals were treated for 8 weeks. The cardiac function and structure were assessed by echocardiography, cardiac interstitial collagen deposition was evaluated by Masson stain, the myocardial cell apoptosis was detected by Tunel method, and the activation of nuclear factor (NF-κB) was also examined.
Results: For echocardiography, MI group had enlarged left ventricular end diastolic diameter (7.28 ± 0.29) mm than Sham group (6.86 ± 0.36) mm,P<0.05, but it decreased in MI+BR group (6.89 ± 0.99) mm,P>0.05. MI group had increased left ventricular end systolic diameter (5.88 ± 0.33) mm than Sham group (4.61 ± 0.31) mm, but it decreased in MI+BR group (4.68 ± 1.17) mm, allP< 0.01. MI group showed increased left ventricular posterior wall compensatory hypertrophy (1.81 ± 0.85) mm than Sham group (1.67 ± 0.16 mm),P<0.05, while in MI+BR group, it was deereased to (1.65 ± 0.14) mm. MI group presented decreased LVEF (45.77 ± 3.17) % than Sham group (67.28 ± 4.15) %, but it increased in MI+BR group (64.64 ± 5.82) %, allP<0.01. For Masson stain, cardiac interstitial collagen deposition in MI group (11.39 ± 0.45) % was higher than Sham group (2.65 ± 0.45) %, but less in MI+BR group (7.00 ± 0.87) %, allP<0.01. For Tunel examination, the myocardial cell apoptosis index was increased in MI group (21.31 ± 2.34) than Sham group (0.99 ± 0.38), but decreased in MI+BR group (14.15 ± 1.62), allP<0.01. For NF-κB activation study, the nuclear protein p65 content was higher in MI group (0.14 ± 0.02) ng/ml than Sham group (0.06 ± 0.01) ng/ml, but lower in MI+BR group (0.10 ± 0.02) ng/ml, allP<0.01.
Conclusion: Application of BR may improve the ventricular remodeling and cardiac function in experimental MI rats, it might be because of BR partially inhibit NF-κB activation, reduce collagen deposition and help anti-apoptosis in myocardial cells.

[Objective] To explore the cytoprotecfion of hydrogen sulfide (H_2S) against cobalt chloride (CoCl_2)-induced apeptosis in PC12 cells and the underlying mechanisms. [Methods] CoCl_2 (a chemical hypoxia-mimetic agent) was used to establish the chemical hypoxia-induced PC12 cell injuries model. Sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) was used as a H_2S donor. The viability of PC12 cells was measured by CCK-8 assay. The percentage of apeptotic cells was assessed by propidium iodide stain flow cytometry (FCM). The morphological change of apeptotic cells was tested by using the chromatin dye Hoechst 33258. The mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) was analyzed by rhodamine 123 staining and photofluorography. The level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in PC12 cells was measured by DCFH-DA staining and photofluorography. [Results] CoCl_2 induced a decrease in cell viability and an increase in percentage of apeptosis in PC12 cells along with dissipation of MMP as well as overproduction of ROS. When PC12 cells were treated with Naris 30 min before CoCl_2 treatment a decrease in viability of PC12 cells induced by 600 μmol/L CoCl_2 was concentration-dependently blocked by NaHs (100, 200, and 400 μmol/L). Pretreatment with NaHS at 200 and 400 μmol/L obviously reduced the apepetotic percentage of PC12 cells induced by 600 μmol/L CoCl_2 and inhibited the dissipation of MMP and overproduction of ROS. [Conclusion] H_2S protected PC12 cells against CoCl_2-induced apeptosis, which may be associated with the inhibition of H_2S on the dissipation of MMP and overproduction of ROS induced by CoCl_2.

OBJECTIVETo study the myelodysplastic syndrome(MDS) with 1;7 translocation in five cases and to determine further the constitution and origin of centromere of the derivative chromosome resulting from 1;7 translocation.
METHODSBone marrow chromosome preparation of five cases was made using direct method or short- term culture. Karyotypic analysis was carried out by R-banding technique. Dual-color fluorescence in situ hybridization(FISH) using Spectrum Red and Spectrum Green directly labeled chromosome 1-specific a-satellite DNA probe(red) and chromosome 7-specific a-satellite DNA probe(green) was performed in three patients of them.
RESULTSAll of the five cases had 1;7 translocation. The centromere of the derivative chromosome 7p/1q was constituted with red and green signals in three of them.
CONCLUSIONThe result of dual-color FISH confirms that the centromere of the derivative chromosome resulting from 1;7 translocation originated from both centromeres of chromosome 1 and chromosome 7.
