ObjectiveTo understand the surveillance of influenza-like illness (ILI) and influenza vaccination status in Jing’an District, Shanghai, and to provide a basis for optimizing influenza prevention and control strategies. MethodsThe sentinel surveillance data for ILI and virological surveillance data of influenza viruses in Jing’an District were collected from the Chinese influenza surveillance information system, and data for influenza vaccination were collected from Shanghai immunization information system from September 2017 to August 2023. Epidemiological characteristics of ILI, influenza etiology, and the temporal and population distributions of influenza vaccination were analyzed using descriptive epidemiological methods. ResultsILI as a percentage of total visit surveillance units (ILI%) reported by sentinel hospital was increased in Jing’an District of Shanghai from September 2017 to August 2023 (F=18.841, P=0.012). The peak of the influenza cases mainly appeared in winter-spring, but there were two peaks in winter-spring and summer from September 2019 to August 2020, from September 2020 to August 2021, and from September 2021 to August 2022. In particular, there were two peaks in winter-spring from September 2022 to August 2023, with a rebound during the descending process. The average positive rate of ILI was 21.64% (2 421/11 189) during the 6 years. There was a peak in winter-spring during every year with the exception of the period from September 2020 to August 2021. The dominant strains were B/Yamagata and A/H1N1 in winter-spring from September 2017 to August 2018. The dominant strain was A/H1N1 in winter-spring from September 2018 to August 2019 and from September 2022 to August 2023. The dominant strain was B/Victoria in winter-spring from September 2019 to August 2020 and from September 2021 to August 2022. Different subtype strains occurred alternately, and the dominant strains were A/H1N1 and A/H3N2 in recent years. The influenza vaccination coverage was 2.94% from September 2017 to August 2023, and the vaccination coverage was highest in young children. The vaccination coverage for females was higher than that for males (χ2=546.963, P<0.001), and the vaccination coverage for registered residents was higher compared to that for migrants (χ2=123.141, P<0.001). ConclusionILI% exhibits an upward trend in Jing’an District of Shanghai, and the dominant strain is A subtype. The influenza vaccination coverage is still low, which is insufficient to have an impact on the spread of influenza. It is recommended that the surveillance of ILI and variations of influenza virus strains should be improved continuously, and effective steps should be taken to promote influenza vaccination.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2025;52(6):1362-1372
ObjectiveTo explore the molecular mechanism of aerobic exercise to improve hippocampal neuronal degeneration by regulating tryptophan metabolic pathway. Methods60 SPF-grade C57BL/6J male mice were divided into a young group (2 months old, n=30) and a senile group (12 months old, n=30), and each group was further divided into a control group (C/A group, n=15) and an exercise group (CE/AE group, n=15). An aerobic exercise program was used for 8 weeks. Learning memory ability was assessed by Y-maze, and anxiety-depression-like behavior was detected by absent field experiment. Hippocampal Trp levels were measured by GC-MS. Nissl staining was used to observe the number and morphology of hippocampal neurons, and electron microscopy was used to detect synaptic ultrastructure. ELISA was used to detect the levels of hippocampal Trp,5-HT, Kyn, KATs, KYNA, KMO, and QUIN; Western blot was used to analyze the activities of TPH2, IDO1, and TDO enzymes. ResultsGroup A mice showed significant decrease in learning and memory ability (P<0.05) and increase in anxiety and depressive behaviors (P<0.05); all of AE group showed significant improvement (P<0.05). Hippocampal Trp levels decreased in group A (P<0.05) and increased in AE group (P<0.05). Nidus vesicles were reduced and synaptic structures were degraded in group A (P<0.05), and both were significantly improved in group AE (P<0.05). The levels of Trp, 5-HT, KATs, and KYNA were decreased (P<0.05) and the levels of Kyn, KMO, and QUIN were increased (P<0.05) in group A. The activity of TPH2 was decreased (P<0.05), and the activities of IDO1 and TDO were increased (P<0.05). The AE group showed the opposite trend. ConclusionThe aging process significantly reduces the learning memory ability and increases the anxiety-depression-like behavior of mice, and leads to the reduction of the number of nidus vesicles and degenerative changes of synaptic structure in the hippocampus, whereas aerobic exercise not only effectively enhances the spatial learning memory ability and alleviates the anxiety-depression-like behavior of aging mice, but also improves the morphology and structure of neurons in hippocampal area, which may be achieved by the mechanism of regulating the tryptophan metabolic pathway.

Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of total arterial off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCABG) using a left internal thoracic artery (LITA) combined with bilateral radial arteries (RAs). Methods We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of patients with severe multi-vessel coronary artery disease who underwent total arterial OPCABG with a LITA and bilateral RAs at Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital from November 2020 to April 2023. Results A total of 24 patients were included, comprising 23 males and 1 female, with a mean age of (53.63±4.33) years. The New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class was Ⅱ to Ⅲ. The mean number of distal anastomoses was 3.17±0.38. A Y-graft was constructed in 12 patients and sequential grafting was performed in 4 patients. Concomitant procedures included coronary endarterectomy in 1 patient, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) implantation in 10 patients, and thymoma resection in 1 patient. The mean operative time was (308.13±30.39) min, mechanical ventilation time was (15.42±7.42) h, ICU stay was (46.08±27.32) h, and postoperative hospital stay was (11.71±1.90) d. There were no in-hospital deaths. Postoperative complications included one patient of acute renal failure and one patient of cerebral infarction. Pre-discharge color Doppler echocardiography revealed that the left ventricular end-diastolic diameter was significantly smaller than before surgery (P<0.05), while the left ventricular ejection fraction and fractional shortening were significantly higher (P<0.05). Coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) showed that all arterial grafts were patent. During a mean follow-up of (14.58±8.75) months, no patients experienced angina recurrence or mortality. Repeat coronary CTA or angiography in 16 patients one year postoperatively confirmed that all arterial grafts remained patent. Conclusion Total arterial OPCABG using a LITA and bilateral RAs is a safe and effective treatment for patients with severe multi-vessel coronary artery disease. For high-risk patients, intraoperative IABP support is recommended.

As a mercury-containing elixir, Hongshengdan has been known as a sacred medicine for surgery by ancient medical practitioners because of its precise curative effects. It originated from Yizong Shuoyue in the Qing dynasty, Qing dynasty and modern medical practitioners have adapted and modified its formula for clinical application. Employing bibliometric methods, the authors systematically organized relevant ancient literature of the Qing dynasty and modern literature, and analyzed the composition and dosage, preparation method, and clinical application. Among the 25 ancient books concerning Hongshengdan, a total of 12 medicinal formulas, 15 refining methods and 9 clinical applications were obtained. Research confirms that Hongshengdan consisted of mercury, saltpeter, alum, soap alum, cinnabar and realgar. Using measurement conversion standards of Qing dynasty, the modern single-batch formulation comprised 37.30 g of mercury, 149.20 g of saltpeter, 37.30 g of alum, 22.38 g of soap alum, 18.65 g of cinnabar, and 18.65 g of realgar. In modern refining of Hongshengdan, most medical practitioners take the core medicines, with dosages approximately 30 g of mercury, 30 g of saltpeter, and 30 g of alum. Refining method involves pretreatment stewing the materials during preparation, and alum, soap alum, and saltpeter are first ground together, then combined with mercury, cinnabar, and realgar for grinding until mercury and other drugs grind to the degree of no star points. The mixture is then placed in a pot or vessel by cold-forming method. After covering, the opening is sealed using either raw gypsum salt mud or honey-dipped cotton paper strips. Sand is packed around the vessel and then pressurized. During the calcination process, begin with a low flame(30 min), then increase to a medium flame(30 min), followed by a high flame(30 min), after removing fire toxins, collect the final product. Hongshengdan has the efficacy of lifting the poison, removing the corrosion, producing muscle and dispersing, and is often used in the treatment of surgical sore and carbuncle type of diseases. Modern research indicates that Hongshengdan is commonly used to treat skin system diseases such as ulcers and herpes. The aforementioned findings provide a reference basis for the subsequent refining method and clinical application of Hongshengdan.

Fluorescence anisotropy(FA)analysis has many advantages such as no requirement of separation, high throughput and real-time detection, and thus has been widely used in many fields, including biochemical analysis, food safety detection, environmental monitoring, etc. However, due to the small volume or mass of the target, its combination with the fluorescence probe cannot produce significant signal change. To solve this issue, researchers often use nanomaterials to enhance the mass or volume of fluorophore to improve the sensitivity.Nevertheless, this FA amplification strategy also has some disadvantages.Firstly, nanomaterials are easy to quench fluorescence. As a result, the FA value is easily influenced by light scattering, which reduces the detection accuracy.Secondly, fluorescent probes in most methods require complex modification steps. Therefore,it is necessary to develop new FA probes that do not require the amplification of volume and mass or modification. As a new kind of nanomaterials, luminescent metal-organic framework(MOF)has a large volume(or mass)and strong fluorescence emission. It does not require additional signal amplification materials. As a consequence,it can be used as a potential FA probe. This study successfully synthesized a lanthanide metal organic framework(Ce-TCPP MOF)using cerium ion(Ce3+)as the central ion and 5,10,15,20-tetra(4-carboxylphenyl)porphyrin(H2TCPP)as the ligand through microwave assisted method, and used it as a novel unmodified FA probe to detect phosphate ions(Pi).In the absence of Pi,Ce-TCPP MOF had a significant FA value(r).After addition of Pi,Pi reacted with Ce3+in MOF and destroyed the structure of MOF into the small pieces, resulting in a decrease in r.The experimental results indicated that with the increase of Pi concentration, the change of the r of Ce-TCPP MOF(Δr)gradually increased. The Δr and Pi concentration showed a good linear relationship within the range of 0.5-3.5 μmol/L(0.016-0.108 mg/L).The limit of detection(LOD,3σ/k)was 0.41 μmol/L.The concentration of Pi in the Jialing River water detected by this method was about 0.078 mg/L,and the Pi value detected by ammonium molybdate spectrophotometry was about 0.080 mg/L.The two detection results were consistent with each other, and the detection results also meet the ClassⅡwater quality standard, proving that this method could be used for the detection of Pi in complex water bodies.

BACKGROUND:Inflammation, oxidative stress and bacterial infection are the main causes of delayed wound healing in diabetes. In recent years, various inorganic nanomaterials have been widely used in the treatment of skin wound healing due to their antibacterial activities, but their effects on anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation are limited. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of Prussian blue nanoparticles on the wound repair of diabetes in terms of antioxidant,anti-inflammatory and photothermal antibacterial activities. METHODS:Prussian blue nanoparticles were prepared and characterized.(1)In vitro:The biocompatibility of Prussian blue nanoparticles with different concentrations was detected by MTT assay. The cytoprotective effect of Prussian blue nanoparticles and the intracellular reactive oxidative species level were examined under the condition of hydrogen peroxide. The ability of Prussian blue nanoparticles to decompose hydrogen peroxide and superoxide anion radicals was tested;the effect of Prussian blue nanoparticles on lipopolysaccharide-induced macrophage inflammation was investigated. The photothermal antibacterial activity of Prussian blue nanoparticles was detected by the plate colony counting method.(2)In vivo:ICR mice were intraperitoneally injected with streptozotocin to establish a diabetes mouse model. After the model was successfully established,a 6 mm wound was created on the back with a hole punch. There were the control group(no treatment),the Prussian blue group and the Prussian blue with light group. The wound healing and histomorphological changes were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:(1)In vitro:Prussian blue nanoparticles in 25-200 μg/mL were non-toxic to cells.Prussian blue nanoparticles had the extremely strong antioxidant capacity and mitigated the intracellular reactive oxidative species at a high oxidative stress environment, resulting in a pronounced cytoprotective effect. The Prussian blue nanoparticles not only exhibited hydrogen peroxide degradation activity but also showed strong superoxide scavenging ability.Prussian blue nanoparticles also displayed significant anti-inflammatory activity and extremely strong antibacterial ability after light irradiation.(2)In vivo:After 14 days, the wound sizes of the Prussian blue group and Prussian blue with light group were significantly reduced, and the healing speed of Prussian blue with light group was the fastest.Hematoxylin-eosin and Masson staining showed a lot of granulation tissue formation and collagen deposition in the Prussian blue group and the Prussian blue with light group,of which the Prussian blue with light group was the most.Immunofluorescence staining displayed that, compared with the control group, the expressions of α-SMA and CD31 were increased significantly in Prussian blue group and Prussian blue with light group(P<0.05),but F4/80 expression was decreased significantly in Prussian blue group and Prussian blue with light group(P<0.05),indicating more obvious improvement in the Prussian blue with light group.(3)These results showed that Prussian blue nanoparticles could promote the skin wound healing of the diabetes mouse model by exerting anti-inflammatory,antioxidant and antibacterial effects.
