【Objective】 To investigate the feasibility of using surface electromyography （SEMG） for the detection of abnormal muscle response （AMR） in patients with hemifacial spasm （HFS）. 【Methods】 We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of HFS patients who underwent microvascular decompression （MVD） in our hospital between June 2019 and December 2020. Patients who received both surface electrode （preoperative） and needle electrode （intraoperative） detection of AMR were included. SEMG recorded from two stimulation-recording sites， namely， zygomatic-mentalis and mandibular marginal-orbicularis oculi， was selected for analyzing the characteristics of AMR. The positive rates of AMR detected by these two kinds of electrodes were comprehensively compared. 【Results】 Totally 77 patients were included in this study. When detected with surface electrodes， the positive rate， latency and amplitude of AMR recorded at zygomatic-mentalis oculi were 90.9% （70/77）， （10.87±1.86） ms and （202.8±47.4） μV， and at mandibular marginal-orbicularis oculi were 92.2% （71/77）， （10.41±1.83） ms and （211.1±54.1） μV， respectively. AMR was detected in 74 patients （96.1%） with surface electrodes. There was no significant difference in positive rate， latency and amplitude of AMR between these two stimulation-recording methods. When detected with needle electrodes， the positive rate of AMR recorded at zygomatic-mentalis oculi was 98.7% （76/77）， which was significantly higher than the rate 89.6% （69/77） recorded at mandibular marginal-orbicularis oculi （P=0.016）. The latency and amplitude of AMR recorded at zygomatic-mentalis were （10.63±1.39） ms and （83.5±27.2） μV， and at mandibular marginal-orbicularis oculi were （10.31±1.18） ms and （58.6±21.4） μV. There was no significant difference in latency between the two stimulation-recording methods， but the amplitude recorded at mandibular marginal-orbicularis oculi was significantly lower （P=0.041）. AMR was detected in 76 patients （98.7%） with needle electrodes. There was no significant difference in the detection rate of AMR between surface electrodes and needle electrodes （P=0.500）， the results were moderately consistent （Kappa=0.490， P<0.001）. 【Conclusion】 The detection efficiency of surface electrodes for AMR is similar to that of needle electrode. With its non-invasive characteristic， the surface electrode can be routinely used for electrophysiological evaluation of HFS.

Objective:To investigate the effect of jugular tubercle thickness on pathogenesis of hemifacial spasm (HFS) and its curative efficacy by microvascular decompression (MVD).Methods:One hundred and thirty-five HFS patients accepted MVD in our hospital from June 2017 to May 2018 were enrolled in this study. The thickness of the jugular tubercle was measured on preoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with steady state acquisition (FIESTA) sequence. The differences of jugular tubercle thickness and arterial flow rate from the jugular tubercle to the brainstem between the healthy side and symptomatic side in these patients were compared. These patients were divided into immediate symptom-relief group ( n=112) and symptom residual group ( n=23) according to the symptom relief one d after MVD; the difference of jugular tubercle thickness between the two groups were compared. Results:No significant difference in the jugular tubercle thickness was noted between the healthy side and the symptomatic side in all 135 patients ( t=0.787, P=0.432). The arterial flow rate from the jugular tubercle to the brainstem in the symptomatic side (95.6%) was significantly higher than that in the healthy side (57.0%, P<0.05). The jugular tubercle thickness in the symptomatic residual group ([5.13±2.19] mm) was significantly higher than that in the immediate symptom-relief group ([4.03±1.16] mm, t=2.114, P=0.0396). Conclusion:The thickness of jugular tubercle is not associated with HFS onset, but may affect the immediate outcome of MVD.

Objective: To investigate the mechanism of lncRNA HCG18/miR-17-5p/HMGA2 axis regulating the proliferation and metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cells. Methods: Sixty-two pairs of NSCLC tissues and corresponding para-cancerous tissues collected at Central Hospital of Chengde City from June 2017 to June 2018 were used for this study; in addition, NSCLC cell lines (A549, NCI-H1299, H1650, NCI-H460) and human lung epithelial BEAS-B cells were also collected. mRNA expression levels of HCG18, miR-17-5p and high-mobility group AT-hook 2 (HMGA2) in NSCLC tissues and cell lines were measured by quantitative Real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR). Si-HCG18, miR-17-5p, miR-17-5p+HCG18 or pcDNA3.1-HMGA2 were transfected into A549 cells and NCI-H460 cells; CCK-8 assay was used to detect the proliferation of transfected cells, Transwell assay was used to detect the migration and invasion ability of cells, and Wb was used to analyze the expressions of HMGA2 and EMT associated proteins (E-cadherin, N-cadherin and vimentin). The target relationships between HCG18 and miR-17-5p, or between miR-17-5p and HMGA2 were confirmed by dual luciferase reporter gene assay. Mice A549 cell xenograft model with HCG18 knockdown was constructed, and the growth of transplanted tumor was observed. Results: lncRNA HCG18 was highly expressed in NSCLC tissues and cells (all P<0.01); HCG18 level was significantly increased in patients at late stage or with lymphnode metastasis; and high HCG18 level was correlated with poor prognosis and low survival rates of NSCLC patients (all P<0.01). Knockdown of HCG18 significantly inhibited NSCLC cell proliferation, migration and invasion (all P<0.01), up-regulated E-cadherin expression but suppressed N-cadherin and vimentin expression (all P<0.01), and the volume of xenograft was obviously decreased (P<0.05). Dual luciferase reporter gene assay confirmed the relationship between HCG18 and miR-17-5p as well as miR-17-5p and HMGA2. miR-17-5p transfection significantly inhibited NSCLC cell proliferation, migration and invasion (all P<0.01), and up-regulated E-cadherin expression, reversely suppressed N-cadherin and vimentin expression (all P<0.01); however, miR-17-5p + HCG18 transfection reversed the effect of miR-17-5p on NSCLCcells.Conclusion:HCG18promotes the proliferationandmigrationofNSCLCcellsthrough regulating miR-17-5p/HMGA2 axis.

Objective: To investigate trends of mean age of diagnosis for liver cancer during 2000 to 2014, which may provide basic information for making feasible cancer prevention strategies. Methods: Based on the continuous cancer incidence data from 22 cancer registries of China between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2014, the incidence by birth-cohort (year of birth between 1925 and 1994) and age specific incidence rates were calculated. The incidence of different age groups were also calculated. World Segi's population was used for age standardization. The liner regression model was applied to analyze the changing trend of mean age of diagnosis. Results: In 2014, the incidence rate for population with 80 years older and above was 108.21 per 100 000, whereas the rate for population at 30-39 years old was 5.09 per 100 000. But the mean age of diagnosis for liver cancer showed an increasing trend from 2000 to 2014. For male, it had increased from 58.80 to 62.35 (t=18.70, P<0.001) . For female, it had increased from 64.02 to 68.99 (t=20.50, P<0.001) . After age standardization, the mean age of diagnosis still showed increasing trend. Meanwhile, the proportion of liver cancer in people above 70 years old was 25.05% in 2014, which was higher than that in 2000 (22.49%). Conclusion The mean age of liver cancer incidence was increasing during 2000-2014.

Objective: To analyze the basic characteristics of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and further explore the major factors affecting the prognosis of HCC patients. Methods: A total of 800 HCC patients were randomly selected from the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Their clinical and follow-up information was obtained from medical record. Univariate analysis of variance, Kaplan-Meier method and Cox regression analysis were used to analyze the patients′ age at diagnosis and survival time, etc. Results: The average age of diagnosis was 55.04 years among all the 800 HCC patients, and the sex ratio of male to female was 4.48. The infection rates of HBV and HCV were 78.6% (629/800) and 5.8% (46/800), respectively. The smoking rate was 41.0% (328/800) and the alcohol consumption rate was 38.5% (328/800). 259 (32.4%) patients underwent radical treatments with liver resection as major therapy, and 541 (67.6%) patients adopted non-radical treatments with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) as major therapy. The 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rates of the HCC patients were 73.2%, 53.7% and 42.4%, respectively. The risk factors for prognosis included alcohol abuse and treatment methods. The HR of alcohol abuse was 1.326 (95%CI: 1.058 to 1.661) and HR of treatment methods was 3.301 (95% CI: 2.483 to 4.387). Conclusions Men account for the majority of HCC patients, and most patients have a lower age at diagnosis and adopt non-radical treatments. The exposure rates of HBV infection and alcohol abuse of HCC patients are significantly higher than those of general population. The major risk factors affecting prognosis and survival are treatments and alcohol abuse. Alcohol abuse and HBV may have synergistic effects on the survival of HCC patients.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of facial spasm patients with responsible blood vessels containing vertebral basilar artery and the effect of microvascular decompression therapy.Methods The clinical materials of 69 patients with facial spasm were analyzed retrospectively.According to the vertebral basilar artery containing in responsible blood vessels,the patients were divided into research group (n =16) and control group (n =53).All the patients were treated with microvascular decompression therapy,and postoperative short-term and long-term effects were compared between two groups.Results Compared with control group,the long-term effect in research group was worse (P ＜ 0.01),ratio of male patients was higher (P ＜ 0.01),and ratio of patients with diabetes was higher (P ＜0.01),but there were no significant differences in postoperative short-term effect and dysfunction between two groups (P ＞ 0.05).Responsible blood vessels containing with vertebral basilar artery was the influencing factor of poor postoperative long-term effect.Conclusion Long-term effect of microvascular decompression therapy is poor in treatment of facial spasm patients with responsible blood vessels containing vertebral basilar artery,and the location of the disease is mainly in left.

Objective To investigate the safety, efficacy and key points of technology of endovascular embolization for ruptured wide-necked aneurysms of anterior communicating arteries. Methods The clinical, DSA imaging, interventional treatment and follow-up data of 35 patients with ruptured wide-neck aneurysms of anterior communicating arteries were analyzed retrospectively. Results Immediate postoperative angiography of the 35 patients found 100% occlusion were achieved in 29 (82.9%), 90% occlusion were achieved in 5 (14.3%), and 80%occlusion was achieved in 1 (2.8%). One patient had occlusion in ipsilateral anterior cerebral artery , whose blood vessel was patent after thrombosis. One patient had intraoperative aneurysm rupture. One patient had cerebral infaraction of anterior cerebral artery after the operation. Clinical follow-up was made from 6 to 60 months , and no aneurysms ruptured was found. 21 patients were followed up for 6 to 60 months with DSA. Two of them experienced recurrence, and they were not treated with supplementary packing. Conclusion Endovascular embolization for ruptured wide-necked aneurysms of anterior communicating arteries is more difficult , but it is safe and effective. Flexible choosing of various kinds of embolism technique and designing the most optimal embolism treatment plan are the keys to the improvement of embolization effect.

Objective To analyze proliferation and differentiation of glial fibrillary acid protein (GFAP)- and nestin-positive (GFAP+/nestin+) cells isolated from the subventricular zone following fluid percussion brain injury to determine whether GFAP+/nestin+ cells exhibit characteristics of neural stem cells. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 12 weeks and weighing 200-250 g, were randomly and evenly assigned to normal control group and model group. In the model group, a rat model of fluid percussion brain injury was established. Five days later, subventricular zone tissue was resected from each group and made into single cell suspension. After serum-free neural stem cell medium culture and subsequent serum-induced differentiation, cell type, proliferation and differentiation capacities were determined by immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry. Results At 3-7 days after fluid percussion brain injury, nestin+/GFAP+ cells in the single cell suspension from the model group significantly outnumbered those from the normal control group (P<0.01). In the model group, an increased number of small neurospheres with smooth cell edge and bulged center formed after primary culture, and were clearly visible with the increase of culture time and medium replacement. After several passages, many clonal spheres were obtained, suggesting strong self-proliferatiing capacity. Neurospheres from the model group differentiated into astrocytes, neurons and oligodendrocytes. Conclusion GFAP+/nestin+ cells isolated from the adult rat subventricular zone after fluid percussion brain injury are thought to be neural stem cells because of their self-renewal and multi-differentiation capacities.
