Objective To evaluate the efficacy of transurethral resection of bladder tumor(TURBT)in treating cystitis glandularis(CG),and to explore the influencing factors. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 243 CG patients treated with TURBT during Jan.2013 and Dec.2020 in our hospitals.Postoperative efficacy was assessed using global response assessment(GRA).The correlation between GRA score and the demographic characteristics, comorbidities, initial complaints, and postoperative recurrence was determined with logistic regression analysis. Results Among the 243 patients,3.70%(9/243)had dysplasia,2.47%(6/243)had exuberant hyperplasia of Brinell's nest, and 2.06%(5/243)had intestinal metaplasia. The mean GRA score was(2.02±0.72)after a follow-up of(47.10±28.53)months.Re-operation was performed in 10.29%(25/243)of the patients due to recurrence, and the improvement of hydronephrosis and dysuria was 70.59%(12/17)and 50.00%(15/30),respectively.Pelvic fat increase developed in 1 patient(0.41%)after surgery.Logistic regression analysis showed that postoperative GRA score was not significantly correlated with demographic characteristics, body mass index, comorbidities, alcoholism and postoperative recurrence(P>0.05).Conclusion TURBT is an effective method in the treatment of CG,which can significantly improve patients'hydronephrosis and dysuria. However, approximately 10%of the patients experience recurrence, necessitating further surgery, which suggests the need for vigilance regarding potential recurrence during treatment.

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of pulsed thulium laser(PTL)combined with triamcinolone acetonide injection in the treatment of failed posterior urethral anastomosis(FPUA).Methods:This retrospective study included 35 male pa-tients treated in Gongli Hospital for failed posterior urethral anastomosis from January 2018 to December 2023.All the patients under-went direct-vision internal urethrotomy(DVIU)with transurethral PTL(the PTL group,n=15)or transurethral plasma(the TUP group,n=20),and all received intralesional injection of triamcinolone acetonide. We followed up the patients for a median of 21 months, recorded the age, length of urethral stricture, operation time,pre-and post-operative maximum urinary flow rate(Qmax),postoperative complications and recurrence of urethral stricture, and compared the data obtained between the two groups. Results:All the patients smoothly completed the treatment procedures. No statistically significant differences were observed in the age, length of urethral stricture, operation time and postoperative complications between the two groups(P>0.05).The median follow-up time for the thulium laser group and plasma group was 21.0 months(IQR 16.0-24.0)and 21.0 months(IQR 17.0-25.0),respectively,with a statistically significant difference observed in the maximum urine flow rate before and after surgery at the 12-month mark(P<0.01).No significant disparity was found in terms of relapse-free survival between the two groups(P=0.398)Conclusion:Pulsed thulium laser combined with triamcinolone acetonide injection can effectively maintain a short-term cicatricial stability of the ure-thral stricture and satisfactory urethral patency, obviously superior to plasmotomy as a remedial treatment of urethral stricture after failed posterior urethral anastomosis.

ObjectiveTo clone squalene epoxidase (SE), a potential key rate-limiting enzyme involved in the synthesis pathway of Poria cocos triterpenes, from P. cocos and analyze for bioinformatics and expression. MethodThe total RNA was extracted by the kit and reverse-transcribed to cDNA. Specific primers were designed, and the cDNA was used as a template for cloning the SE gene, which was analyzed for bioinformatics. The expression of P. cocos qualene epoxidase(PcSE) was examined by Real-time polymerase chain reaction(Real-time PCR) in P. coco Shenzhou No. 10, Xiangjing 28, and 5.78 strains. ResultThe full length of PcSE is 1 571 bp, containing four exons and three introns. The obtained CDS sequence is 1 413 bp, encoding 470 amino acids. This protein is a hydrophobic protein with no signal peptide structure and has two transmembrane structural domains with a FAD/NAD (P) binding domain and SE structural domain localized to the mitochondrial membrane and the plasma membrane. The homologous sequence alignment with fungi of the Poriferae family is 80.92%, and the phylogenetic tree shows that PcSE protein is most closely related to P. cocos from the US. The results of Real-time PCR showed that the PcSE was expressed in all three strains, with the highest expression in 5.78 strain, and there was no significant difference in PcSE expression among the three strains. ConclusionFor the first time, the PcSE gene was cloned and analyzed from P. cocos, providing a basis for further research on the function of PcSE and the analysis of P. cocos triterpene biosynthesis pathway.

China Journal of Orthopaedics and Traumatology 2023;36(11):1065-1069
OBJECTIVE:
To explore 3.0T MRI accurate measurement of knee cartilage thickness in healthy youth provides reliable anatomical parameters for quantitative diagnosis of osteoarthritis and accurate osteotomy of joint replacement.
METHODS:
From January 2013 to December 2013, 30 healthy young volunteers including 14 males and 16 females with an average age of (25.8±2.4) years old ranging from 22 to 33 years were recruited in Changchun, Jilin Province, and a 3.0T MRI scan was performed on the bilateral knee joints of each volunteer. The cartilage thickness was measured on the lateral femoral condyle (LFC), medial femoral condyle (MFC), lateral tibial plateau (LTP) and medial tibial plateau (MTP).
RESULTS:
In four regions of the knee joint:LFC, MFC, LTP and MTP, whether young men or women, there was no significant difference in cartilage thickness between the left and right knee joints (P>0.05). There were significant differences in knee cartilage thickness between healthy young men and women (P<0.05). In the same sex group, LFC cartilage thickness was thinner in the middle, thicker in front and rear;MFC cartilage thickness was the thinnest in front and gradually thickening from the front to the rear; LTP cartilage thickness was thickest in the middle, second in the rear and thinnest in the front;MTP cartilage thickness was the thinnest in the front, was relatively uniform in the middle and rear and thicker than that in the front.
CONCLUSION
In Northeast China, among healthy adults aged 22 to 33, gender difference may be an important factor in the difference of cartilage thickness in various regions of the knee joint. Regardless of whether male or female healthy young people, the cartilage thickness of the entire knee joint is unevenly distributed, but there is no significant difference in cartilage thickness in the same area between the left and right knee joints.
