Background: Diabetic macrovascular and microvascular complications often coexist and may share similar risk factors and pathological pathways. We aimed to investigate whether 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk, which is commonly assessed in diabetes management, can predict incident diabetic nephropathy (DN) and retinopathy (DR) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: This prospective cohort study enrolled 2,891 patients with clinically diagnosed T2DM who were free of ASCVD, nephropathy, or retinopathy at baseline in the Guangzhou (2017–2022) and Shaoguan (2019–2021) Diabetic Eye Study in southern China. The 10-year ASCVD risk was calculated by the Prediction for ASCVD Risk in China (China-PAR) equations. Multivariable- adjusted Cox proportional hazard models were developed to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was used to evaluate predictive capability. Results: During follow-up, a total of 171 cases of DN and 532 cases of DR were documented. Each 1% increment in 10-year ASCVD risk was associated with increased risk of DN (pooled HR, 1.122; 95% CI, 1.094 to 1.150) but not DR (pooled HR, 0.996; 95% CI, 0.979 to 1.013). The model demonstrated acceptable performance in predicting new-onset DN (pooled AUC, 0.670; 95% CI, 0.628 to 0.715). These results were consistent across cohorts and subgroups, with the association appearing to be more pronounced in women. Conclusion Ten-year ASCVD risk predicts incident DN but not DR in our study population with T2DM. Regular monitoring of ASCVD risk in routine diabetes practice may add to the ability to enhance population-based prevention for both macrovascular and microvascular diseases, particularly among women.

ObjectiveTo improve the quality standard of Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid in order to strengthen the quality control of this oral liquid. MethodThin layer chromatography（TLC） was used for the qualitative identification of Corydalis Rhizoma and Angelicae Dahuricae Radix in Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid by taking tetrahydropalmatine， corydaline reference substances and Corydalis Rhizoma reference medicinal materials as reference， and cyclohexane-trichloromethane-methanol（5∶3∶0.5） as developing solvent， Corydalis Rhizoma was identified using GF254 glass thin layer plate under ultraviolet light（365 nm）. And taking petroleum ether（60-90 ℃） -ether-formic acid（10∶10∶1） as developing solvent， Angelicae Dahuricae Radix was identified using a silica gel G TLC plate under ultraviolet light（305 nm）. High performance liquid chromatography（HPLC） was performed on a Waters XSelect HSS T3 column（4.6 mm×250 mm， 5 μm） with acetonitrile（A）-0.1% glacial acetic acid solution（adjusted pH to 6.1 by triethylamine）（B） as the mobile phase for gradient elution（0-10 min， 20%-30%A； 10-25 min， 30%-40%A； 25-40 min， 40%-50%A； 40-60 min， 50%-60%A）， the detection wavelength was set at 280 nm， then the fingerprint of Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid was established， and the contents of tetrahydropalmatine and corydaline were determined. ResultIn the thin layer chromatograms， the corresponding spots of Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid， the reference substances and reference medicinal materials were clear， with good separation and strong specificity. A total of 12 common peaks were identified in 10 batches of Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid samples， and the peaks of berberine hydrochloride， dehydrocorydaline， glaucine， tetrahydropalmatine and corydaline. The similarities between the 10 batches of samples and the control fingerprint were all >0.90. The results of determination showed that the concentrations of corydaline and tetrahydropalmatine had good linearity with paek area in the range of 0.038 6-0.193 0， 0.034 0-0.170 0 g·L^-1， respectively. The methodological investigation was qualified， and the contents of corydaline and tetrahydropalmatine in 10 batches of Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid samples were 0.077 5-0.142 9、0.126 1-0.178 2 g·L^-1， respectively. ConclusionThe established TLC， fingerprint and determination are simple， specific and reproducible， which can be used to improve the quality control standard of Yuanhu Zhitong oral liquid.

Objective: To establish a solvent desorption-gas chromatography method for determination of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) in workplace air. Methods: The air samples were collected using activated carbon tubes, desorbed by carbon disulfide, separated by dimethylpolysiloxane capillary columns, and detected by a flame ionization detector. Results: The linear range of DMC was 2.14 to 1.07×10⁴ mg/L, and the correlation coefficient was greater than 0.999. The detection limit was 0.14 mg/L, the lower limit of quantification was 0.47 mg/L, the minimum detection concentration was 0.10 mg/m³, and the minimum quantification concentration was 0.32 mg/m³ (based on 1.5 L workplace air). The average desorption efficiency of the method was 96.2% to 102.0%. Both the within-run and between-run relative standard deviations were 0.9% to 2.3%. The samples could be stored for at least seven days at four celsius degree. Conclusion: This method shows high desorption efficiency, high sensitivity, good precision and is simple in using. It can be used for the determination of DMC in workplace air.

Objective:To explore the feasibility of deep learning-based restoration of obscured thyroid ultrasound images.Methods:A total of 358 images of thyroid nodules were retropectively collected from January 2020 to October 2021 at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and the images were randomly masked and restored using DeepFillv2. The difference in grey values between the images before and after restoration was compared, and 6 sonographers (2 chief physicians, 2 attending physicians, 2 residents) were invited to compare the rate of correctness of judgement and detection of image discrepancies. The ultrasound features of thyroid nodules (solid composition, microcalcifications, markedly hypoechoic, ill-defined or irregular margins, or extrathyroidal extensions, vertical orientation and comet-tail artifact) were extracted according to the Chinese Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System (C-TIRADS). The consistency of ultrasound features of thyroid nodules before and after restoration were compared.Results:The mean squared error of the images before and after restoration ranged from 0.274 to 0.522, and there were significant differences in the rate of correctness of judgement and detection of image discrepancies between physicians of different groups(all P<0.001). The overall accuracy rate was 51.95%, the overall detection rate was 1.79%, there were significant differences also within the chief physicians and resident groups (all P<0.001). The agreement rate of all ultrasound features of the nodules before and after image restoration was higher than 70%, over 90% agreement rate for features such as solid composition and comet-tail artifact. Conclusions:The algorithm can effectively repair obscured thyroid ultrasound images while preserving image features, which is expected to expand the deep learning image database, and promote the development of deep learning in the field of ultrasound images.

Background: Fucosyltransferase 2 (FUT2) and FUT3 specifically catalyze the biosynthesis of human histo-blood group antigens, and has been demonstrated to be closely related to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). However, there are few clinical studies focusing on FUT2, FUT3 and IBD. Aims: To investigate the expressions of FUT2 and FUT3 in intestinal mucosa of IBD patients with various clinical characteristics and their clinical relevance. Methods: Patients initially diagnosed as active IBD in the Affiliated Hospital of Hangzhou Normal University from January 2019 to December 2020 were recruited consecutively. Endoscopic biopsy specimens prior to the initiation of treatment were collected to assess the expressions of FUT2 and FUT3 immunohistochemically. Correlations of FUT2, FUT3 with the clinical characteristics and inflammatory indicators were analyzed. Results: Seventy cases of ulcerative colitis (UC), 37 Crohn's disease (CD), and 66 healthy subjects were enrolled. The positivity rate and relative expression level of FUT2 were decreased, while those of FUT3 were increased in CD group than in control group (all P<0.05). In UC group, the relative expression levels of both FUT2 and FUT3 were increased as compared with control group (all P<0.05). No correlations were observed between expressions of FUT2, FUT3 and the disease severity, disease extent/location, clinical manifestations (including abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever and anemia), and alcohol drinking and cigarette smoking in IBD patients (all P>0.05). But moderate positive correlations were found between FUT3 expression and the serum C-reactive protein and fecal calprotectin (r=0.259, P=0.007; r=0.388, P=0.001). Conclusions: FUT2 and FUT3 might be used as indicators for the assistant diagnosis of IBD and assessment of drug therapy response.

The clinical assessment of the risk of rupture and dissection of thoracic aortic aneurysm(TAA) is mainly dependent on the measurement of the maximum diameter and growth rate of the aneurysm itself. The use of aortic size alone may ignore the role of vascular heterogeneity in assessing the risk of catastrophic complications. Biomechanics could help predict the risk of TAA in a more sophisticated way. In this paper, we reviewed the latest advances in biomechanical assessment of risk characteristics of TAA.

OBJECTIVE: To establish a method for simultaneous determination of chlorobenzene, p-dichlorobenzene and o-dichlorobenzene in workplace air by portable gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). METHODS: The portable GC-MS heat tracing sampling probe was used for sampling. Samples were separated with LTM DB-5 MS rapid chromatographic column. The qualitative analysis was based on retention times and characteristic ions, and the quantification was based on standard curves. RESULTS: The linear correlation coefficient of this method was higher than 0.999 6. The minimum detectable concentrations were 0.03, 0.03 and 0.06 mg/m~3, and the minimum quantification concentrations were 0.10, 0.10 and 0.20 mg/m~3. The recovery rates were 84.68%-92.61%, 86.27%-93.92% and 82.31%-92.36% respectively for three chlorobenzenes compounds. The within-run relative standard deviations(RSD) were 8.51%-9.34%, 7.93%-9.19%, 5.47%-7.48% respectively for three chlorobenzenes compounds, the between-run RSD were 7.29%-9.73%, 8.08%-10.04% and 5.19%-5.98% respectively for three chlorobenzenes compounds. CONCLUSION: The portable GC-MS could be used for qualitative and quantitative detection of three chlorobenzenes compounds in workplace air.
