1.Implant–supported fixed prosthesis for orthognathic surgery in ectodermal dysplasia: a case report

Patients with ectodermal dysplasia often have atrophied alveolar bone and an inadequate maxillomandibular relationship owing to congenital edentulism.Accurate implant placement that can overcomes anatomical limitations and orthognathic surgery to improve the maxillomandibular relationship is necessary for creating implant-supported prosthesis for these patients. Implant placement and provisional prosthesis fabrication before orthognathic surgery can provide critical fixed reference points and ensure accuracy during orthognathic surgery.In our patient, a digital system was used to design a surgical guide that considered the predictable position of the definitive prosthesis, allowing the placement of implants to overcome anatomical limitations and the creation of fixed reference points via the delivery of a provisional prosthesis for effective orthognathic surgery. The lack of compensation during orthognathic surgery was considered in the definitive prosthesis. As a result, a prosthesis with a minimal anterior cantilever was fabricated. This study aimed to determine the appropriate sequence of multidisciplinary collaborations that would, result in the best functional and aesthetic outcomes.
2.Squatting Posture Grading System for Screening of Limited Ankle Dorsiflexion

Objective:
To evaluate the effectiveness of a squatting posture grading system established to screen for limited ankle dorsiflexion.
Methods:
The squat posture grading system categorizes subjects’ squat posture into three grades. Grade 1 is defined as being able to maintain a squatting posture with heels on the ground in full ankle dorsiflexion without effort. Grade 2 is defined as being able to perform the same position, but unable to maintain the position for more than 5 seconds or requiring trunk and leg muscle efforts to maintain the position. Grade 3 is defined as being unable to maintain the same position and falling backwards immediately if attempted to touch the ground with heels. Next, subjects’ ankle dorsiflexion angles were directly measured in knee flexed and extended position by goniometer.
Results:
Out of the 92 total subjects, 35 were in grade 1, 18 were in grade 2, and 39 were in grade 3. The average ankle dorsiflexion angle with knee flexed position were 23.13° for grade 1, 16.03° for grade 2, and 9.31° for grade 3. The average ankle dorsiflexion angle with knee extended position were 15.16° for grade 1, 7.92° for grade 2, and 3.40° for grade 3. Ankle dorsiflexion angles showed a significant decrease from grade 1 to 3 (p<0.05).
Conclusion
The squatting posture grading system defined in this study effectively graded the subjects based on the difference in their average ankle dorsiflexion angle. This system could be used as a quick screening method for limited ankle dorsiflexion.

9.Association Between Psychotic Symptoms of Mood Disorders and Hematologic Findings Related to Inflammation: A Retrospective Study

Objectives:
:This study was aimed to determine whether the presence or absence of psychotic symptoms inmood disorders is statistically significantly related to the difference between NLR, MLR, PLR.
Methods:
:We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 408 patients who were hospitalized with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder type 1 (BP-I) and major depressive disorder (MDD) and underwent complete blood count.Groups were divided based on the presence or absence of psychotic symptoms. The statistical significance of the differences in NLR, MLR, and PLR between each group was examined using t-test.
Results:
:When 382 mood disorder patients were divided into groups based solely on the presence or absence ofpsychotic symptoms, the difference between NLR and MLR was statistically significant (NLR: p=0.009, MLR:p=0.016). When dividing the mood disorder patients into subgroups of 176 BP-I patients and 206 MDD patients and using the same method for each subgroup, the tendency for higher NLR and MLR was maintained, but the sta-tistical significance disappeared.
Conclusions
:This study suggests the possibility of relationship between psychotic symptoms and NLR and MLR in mood disorders, but additional research appears to be necessary to clarify the possibility.
