1.Automation and productivity in the clinical laboratory: experience of a tertiary healthcare facility.
Singapore medical journal 2018;59(11):597-601
Clinical laboratories for in vitro diagnostics are facing pressure to preserve cost control while providing better services through new initiatives. Laboratory automation is a partial answer to this problem, having come a long way from the early days of clinical laboratory testing. The journey and implementation of automation in the Singapore General Hospital's Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory has allowed for sustained performance in the light of increasing workload and service commitments amid an evolving healthcare environment. Key to realising predicted outcomes is the optimisation of workflow processes, reduction of errors, and spatial placement of specimen reception and analytical areas. This paper gives an overview of our experience with automation in the clinical laboratory and its subsequent impact on service standards.

2.Development of Hospital Equipment Maintenance Information System.
Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2015;39(6):415-417
Hospital equipment maintenance information system plays an important role in improving medical treatment quality and efficiency. By requirement analysis of hospital equipment maintenance, the system function diagram is drawed. According to analysis of input and output data, tables and reports in connection with equipment maintenance process, relationships between entity and attribute is found out, and E-R diagram is drawed and relational database table is established. Software development should meet actual process requirement of maintenance and have a friendly user interface and flexible operation. The software can analyze failure cause by statistical analysis.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2012;36(6):415-419
OBJECTIVEThis paper adopts advanced information technology to manage medical supplies, in order to improve the medical supplies management level and reduce material cost.
METHODSIt develops a Medical Supplies Management System with B/S and C/S mixed structure, optimizing material management process, building large equipment performance evaluation model, providing interface solution with HIS, and realizing real-time information briefing of high value material's consumption.
CONCLUSIONThe medical materials are managed during its full life-cycle. The material consumption of the clinical departments is monitored real-timely. Through the closed-loop management with pre-event budget, mid-event control and after-event analysis, it realizes the final purpose of management yielding benefit.

Chinese Journal of Medical Instrumentation 2012;36(5):382-384
OBJECTIVETo develop a maintenance management system for medical equipment based on HIS. The system contains some special functions( including preventive maintenance, automatic job dispatch, performance assessment, etc.) which are very useful for confirming the medical equipment in proper conditions and promoting the working efficiency of the staff. The system provides technical support for the improvement of the maintenance management level.
METHODSThe system, completed the software design using C/S, B/S combination mode.
RESULTSThe system realized clients of various sections of zero maintenance, and make the data manipulation, statistical features of equipment management department more convenient.
CONCLUSIONthe system connects the subsystems closer and interacts information from time to time, forming a tight network structure. This provides a basis for future hospital-wide information integration.
