AIM: To discuss the impacts of pterygium excision combined with low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation and autologous conjunctival flap transplantation on tear film function, visual function, and recurrence rate in patients with pterygium.METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted on patients with pterygium who underwent surgery at Jiangyin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2021 to January 2024. The patients were divided into two groups based on the surgical methods: the excision group with 50 cases(50 eyes)and the combined group with 51 cases(51 eyes). The excision group underwent pterygium excision, while the combined group received low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation and autologous conjunctival flap transplantation in addition to the excision. The tear film function [Schirmer's test(SⅠt), tear film break-up time(BUT)], visual quality, therapeutic effect, incidence of complications within 1 a, and recurrence rate were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.RESULTS: The general data of the two groups were comparable(P>0.05). After treatment, the SⅠt and BUT in the combined group were greater than those in the excision group(both P<0.001), while the corneal astigmatism and uncorrected visual acuity were lower than those in the excision group(both P<0.001). The initial treatment efficiency in the combined group(92%)was higher than that in the excision group(76%). Within 1 a, the recurrence rate(8% vs 22%)and complication rate(6% vs 24%)in the combined group were both lower than those in the excision group(both P< 0.05).CONCLUSION: The union of pterygium excision, low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation, and autologous conjunctival flap transplantation is beneficial for improving the efficacy, visual acuity, tear film function, and reducing recurrence rate in patients with pterygium.
2.Relationship among psychological resilience, parental control, and behavioral problems in junior high school students in Guizhou Province
Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(5):689-692
Objective:
To investigate the relationships among psychological resilience, parental control, and behavioral problems in middle school students, aiming to provide evidencebased recommendations for the prevention and intervention of behavioral issues in middle school students, as well as for the development of related policies.
Methods:
A stratified cluster sampling method was used to select 2 745 participants from three cities in Guizhou Province with different levels of economic development from August to December 2021. The Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL), Parental Control Questionnaire, and Psychological Resilience Questionnaire were administered to junior high school students and their parents. A network analysis method was employed to construct a network analysis model of factors influencing behavioral problems.
Results:
The detection rate of behavioral problems among junior high school students in Guizhou Province was 22.62%. The scores for psychological resilience (goal focus, emotional control, positive cognition, family support, and interpersonal assistance) and proactive inquiry in behavior control were higher in the group without behavioral problems than in the group with behavioral problems. Scores for psychological control (inducing guilt, with drawing affection, and asserting authority) were higher in the group with behavioral problems than in the group without behavioral problems, with statistically significant differences (t=9.80, 17.76, 6.21, 12.20, 13.18, 6.28, 11.58, 11.10, 10.74, P<0.05). The network model showed that among the same variable factors, the strongest connection weight was between inducing guilt and withdrawing affection, with a weight of 0.79. Between different variables, there were negative correlation between behavioral problems and psychological resilience (goal focus, emotional control, positive cognition, family support, interpersonal assistance) and behavior control (proactive inquiry, behavioral restraint) with correlation coefficients (r=-0.25, -0.42, -0.16, -0.31, -0.33, -0.17, -0.03, P<0.05), respectively. There were positive correlation between psychological control factors (inducing guilt, withdrawing affection, and asserting authority) and behavioral problems (r=0.29, 0.27, 0.27), and a negative correlation between these psychological control factors and psychological resilience factors (goal focus, emotional control, positive cognition, family support, interpersonal assistance)(r=-0.53--0.13)(P<0.05). The strongest connection weight was between withdrawing affection and family support, with a connection weight of -0.53. Family support was an important bridge symptom connecting the entire behavioral problem network model, with a high centrality.
Conclusions
The detection rate of behavioral problems among junior high school students in Guizhou Province is relatively high. Assisting adolescents in establishing a supportive family environment facilitates the cultivation of their psychological resilience, thereby mitigating the occurrence of behavioral problems.

Chinese Journal of Neurology 2022;55(10):1154-1160
Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is one of the most serious and lethal diseases in neurology. The early diagnosis and treatment of TBM still faces severe challenges. Acid-fast staining of cerebrospinal fluid and culture of Mycobacteriumtuberculosis are the "gold standard" for the diagnosis of TBM, but lack sensitivity. With the application of metagenomic next-generation sequencing technology, significant advances have been made in the early diagnosis of TBM. The optimal treatment regimen for TBM remains to be further explored and studied. This article intends to provide an overview of the pathogenesis, pathology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and treatment advancement of TBM, and provide guidance for clinical practice.

Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2022;57(5):702-707
Objective:
Balb/c mice infected with respiratory syncytial virus(RSV) were used to investigate the metabolic changes in cecal luminal content.
Methods:
A total of 13 female Balb/c mice were randomly divided into Case group(n=7) and control(Ctrl) group(n=6). Animals in Case group were infected with RSV by using intranasal method, while mice in Ctrl group were treated with DMEM medium. Mice were anesthetized with intraperitoneal administration of 10% chloral hydrate and the cecal luminal contents were harvested under sterile conditions. Metabolite concentrations were measured by UPLC-QTOF/MS system. Univariate and multivariate statistical analysis were used to identify differential metabolites between Case and Ctrl groups.
Results:
The overall base peak chromatogram between Case and Ctrl groups had a clear disparity, and PCA and OPLS-DA analysis showed obviously discrepancy based overall metabolomic profile. L-serine, 2-ketobutyric acid, Oleic acid and Chenodeoxycholic acid glycine conjugate were enriched in Case group, whereas L-methionine, L-tyrosine and Nicotinic acid were depleted. Pathway analysis showed lysine degradation, Cysteine and methionine metabolism were enriched.
Conclusion
Lung injury induced by RSV infection may cause the endogenous metabolism disorder of cecal contents.
