1.Advances in the treatment of infantile hemangiomas of the larynx.

Infantile hemangiomas are relatively common soft tissue tumors in infants and young children, with a prevalence of about 4.5% in full-term newborns. Subglottic Hemangioma (SGH) is a relatively rare type of hemangioma, and its special location often causes respiratory distress and potentially life-threatening conditions in infants. Therefore, it is necessary for clinicians to make an accurate diagnosis and formulate a detailed treatment plan based on the clinical manifestations, the auxiliary examinations, the medical history and the vital signs evaluation of patients.This review describes the pathophysiological mechanism of infantile hemangioma and provides a detailed discussion on commonly used treatment methods in detail.

2.A case of pseudomyogenic hemangioendothelioma misdiagnosed as low-grade malignant fibrous histiocytoma and review of literature.

Pseudomyogenic hemangioendothelioma (PHE) is a rare angiogenic tumor. Histologically, the morphological characteristics of neoplastic vessels and endothelial differentiation are not obvious, and it is easy to be confused with epithelioid sarcoma, epithelioid hemangioendothelioma and myogenic tumor. PHE usually occurs in arms and legs in young people and has a significant male predominance. The tumor has a predilection for the distal extremities and its typical manifestation is multiple center invasion of a single limb, which can involve all layers of skin and subcutaneous tissues,and is often accompanied by abvious pain. Histologically, PHE is characterized by infiltrative growth of tumor. Most tumor lesions are composed of sheets and loose fascicles of plump spindle or epithelioid cells within a background of variably prominent inflammatory infiltration, which was commonly composed of neutrophils. Some cells may resemble rhabdomyoblasts, and nuclear atypia and mitosis were rare. The tumor cells generally expressed positive cytokeratin (CK), ETS-related gene (ERG), Friend leukemia virus integration 1 (FLI1) and integrase interactor 1(INI1). In some cases, the tumor cells expressed CD31. A case of a young woman was reported in this paper, who presented with a subcutaneous mass with severe pain and was chronologically misdiagnosed with herpes zoster, low-grade malignant fibrous histiocytoma and epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. In this study, the clinical and pathological features, differential diagnosis and the latest progress in therapy of PHE were analyzed based on relevant literature.

hemangioma, the most common vascular tumor of the liver in infancy, can occur with acute postnatal liver and congestive heart failure. Nevertheless, its course is often benign, and many children can be diagnosed and treated without surgical intervention. The distinction from malignant diseases is not always easy and it not clear whether invasive procedures for diagnosis and therapy should be performed. Here we report our experiences in our Center for Pediatric Liver Disease and postulate that large studies are needed to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures for these patients in the future.]]>

5.Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (Masson's hemangioma) of the face

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia or Masson's hemangioma is a rare vascular tumor. The reactive proliferation of endothelial cells in this disease mimics other benign or malignant vascular proliferation such as angiosarcoma or Kaposi's sarcoma. It is important to make an accurate distinction to avoid confusion with these malignant tumors. This would facilitate a proper diagnosis, which is essential so that the patient is not subjected to unnecessarily aggressive or inappropriate treatment.

6.Vascular Anomaly: An Updated Review

Vascular anomalies comprise a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by abnormal growth or development of blood vessels. Diagnosis of vascular anomalies is often challenging due to the large variety of conditions, which exhibit phenotypic heterogeneity and a wide range of symptomology and severity. Accurate diagnosis is crucial for appropriate evaluation and management, often requiring multidisciplinary specialists. Recent interdisciplinary collaboration has led to collaborative studies and their outcomes are being prospectively evaluated. While there is still a role for surgical intervention in various vascular anomalies, discoveries of pharmacologic agents effective in treating vascular anomalies have broadened our medical therapeutic options. This paper focuses on vascular anomaly issues often seen by the pediatricians and reviews the clinical pearls on infantile hemangiomas, lymphatic malformations, venous malformations, and arteriovenous malformations.

7.A cavernous hemangioma located in the axillary area: Challenges in preoperative diagnosis and operation

Cavernous hemangiomas are benign neoplasms of endothelial cells. Although this neoplasm has the potential to develop in all parts of the body, it rarely develops in the axilla; in fact, there are only two case reports of axillary cavernous hemangiomas in the literature. Here, we describe a third case, which occurred in a 30-year-old Korean woman. The patient presented with a palpable mass in the left axilla that was initially thought to be either a phyllodes tumor or a lymphoma based on imaging studies. However, the results of an excisional biopsy led to a diagnosis of cavernous hemangioma. Although uncommon, a cavernous hemangioma can be encountered unexpectedly, presenting as a mass in axilla. Although usually curative, surgery may be challenging not only because of the rarity of the condition, but also because of inconsistent preoperative findings and the involvement of large vessels.

8.Prenatal diagnosis and management of fetal hepatic hemangioma.

OBJECTIVE:
To review the application of medical imaging in diagnosis and management of fetal hepatic hemangioma.
METHODS:
Clinical data and imaging findings of 14 cases of fetal hepatic hemangioma, who were diagnosed prenatally and followed up in Women's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine from February 2014 to September 2018 were retrospective reviewed.
RESULTS:
The fetal hepatic hemangiomas were single lesions in all 14 cases, and most of them were located in the right lobe of the liver (13/14). Ultrasound images were mainly hypoechoic with heterogeneity, the honeycomb-like or grid-like anechoic regions were presented in 9 lesions and circumferential blood flow was observed with low to moderate blood flow resistance index. MRI findings showed well-defined lesions with low signal intensity on T1WI, and high or slightly high signal intensity on T2WI. Among 14 cases, there were 8 cases of induced labor and 6 cases of continuing pregnancy. In 6 cases of successful delivery, 2 were treated with propranolol, 4 cases were followed-up without treatment. The growth and development of 6 children were normal. The lesions of hepatic hemangioma showed no significant changes in 3 children and were reduced in the other 3 children, of whom the lesion was complete disappeared in 1 case.
CONCLUSIONS
Fetal hepatic hemangiomas present relatively typical imaging characteristics, and prenatal diagnosis can be made with ultrasound and MRI. If there are no complications, the fetus with hepatic hemangioma can be delivered at full term with a good outcome.

10.Unusual Tumors Obstructing the External Auditory Canal: Report of Two Cases

Primary tumors arising from the external auditory canal (EAC) are rare. We describe two cases of mass lesions within the EAC causing slowly progressive hearing loss without otorrhea or otalgia. Otoendoscopic examination demonstrated total obstruction of the EAC, and pure tone audiometry revealed conductive hearing loss. Based on the findings of the histopathologic examination, one patient was diagnosed with venous hemangioma that was treated using surgical resection, and the other patient was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) that was treated using external-beam radiation therapy. Although primary tumors in the EAC are rare, both benign tumors such as venous hemangiomas and malignant lesions such as DLBCL should be considered as possible differential diagnoses of mass lesions in the EAC.
