AIM: To investigate the efficacy of lacrimal duct laser dacryoplasty combined with intubation and postoperative meibomian gland treatment in patients with chronic dacryocystitis complicated by meibomian gland dysfunction.METHODS: Data were collected from 128 patients with chronic dacryocystitis complicated by meibomian gland dysfunction treated at Xi'an No.1 Hospital from March 2021 to December 2022. All patients underwent lacrimal duct laser dacryoplasty combined with intubation. Postoperatively, those patients were randomly divided into two groups: group A(64 cases, without meibomian gland treatment)and group B(64 cases, with meibomian gland treatment). The lacrimal intubation was removed at 3 mo after surgery to evaluate the patency rate of lacrimal irrigation. Additionally, changes in the ocular surface disease index(OSDI)score, non-invasive tear film break-up time, tear meniscus height, conjunctival hyperemia analysis, meibomian gland analysis, tear lipid layer thickness, tear ferning test, and conjunctival impression cytology were compared between the two groups.RESULTS: The lacrimal irrigation patency rates in the group A and group B were 78.1% and 81.2% respectively, with no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05); compared with the group A, group B showed a significant extension in non-invasive tear breakup time at 3 mo after surgery, and the OSDI score, conjunctival hyperemia analysis, tear ferning test and conjunctival impression cytology grading were all significantly decreased(all P<0.05), while there was no significant difference in tear meniscus height, tear lipid layer thickness and meibomian gland loss score between the two groups(all P>0.05).CONCLUSION: Comprehensive treatment for patients with chronic dacryocystitis combined with meibomian gland dysfunction have improved patients' comfort, tear film stability, and reduces local inflammatory response. It is important to simultaneously address ocular surface microenvironment abnormalities during surgical treatment to achieve satisfactory efficacy.

Acta Universitatis Medicinalis Anhui 2023;58(5):742-747
Objective:
The research was aimed at exploring the effects of mandelic acid on the proliferation , apoptosis and migration of H1299 lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) cells and the related molecular mechanisms.
Methods:
CCK⁃8 was used to detect changes in the proliferation ability of H1299 cells;Hoechst 33258/PI double⁃staining assay was used to analyze the apoptosis of H1299 cells;Transwell and migration assays were used to analyze changes in the invasive and migration ability of H1299 cells;Western blot was used to detect the expression of proliferation ,apoptosis and migration⁃related pathway proteins.
Results :
Different concentrations of mandelic acid inhibited the proliferation viability and invasion and migration ability of H1299 cells (P < 0. 05) . Mandelic acid induced high expression of bax and cl⁃caspase⁃3 and low expression of p ⁃stat3 in proliferation and apoptosis pathways (P < 0. 05) .In addition , it inhibited the expression of MMP⁃9 and Vimentin proteins ,which were related to invasion and migration (P < 0. 01) .
Conclusion
Mandelic acid inhibited the proliferation of H1299 LUAD cells and elevated the level of apoptosis , and molecular biological mechanism might be closely related to the decreased activation of stat3 and activation of bax/caspase⁃3 signaling axis. The inhibition of invasive and migrational ability of H1299 cells induced by mandelic acid was associated with the decreased expression of MMP⁃9 and Vimentin proteins.

Objective:To study the significance of H19 gene in the progress from normal mucosa through oral submucous fibrosis (OSF) to carcinogenesis.Methods:Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR technique was used to detect LncRNA H19 expression level in 12 cases of normal buccal mucosa tissue,33 cases of OSF buccal mucosa tissue and 31 cases of buccal carcinoma with OSF.Results:The relative expression levels of LncRNA H19 in normal buccal mucosa tissues,OSF buccal mucosa tissue and buccal carcinoma with OSF tissue were 1.17 ±0.37,3.44 ± 1.08 and 8.88 ± 1.78 respectively(between each 2 groups,P < 0.01).Conclusion:H19 may involve the occurrence and canceration of OSF.
5.Prognostic factors for patients with bone metastasis from primary liver carcinoma:a report of 55 cases
Practical Oncology Journal 2015;(4):327-332
Objective To improve the clinical diagnosis and prognosis of the treatment of primary liver carcinoma with bone metastasis. Methods A retrospective study on diagnosis and treatment of bone metastasis from 55 cases of primary liver carcinoma was developed.Survival rates were calculated by Kaplan-meier meth-od,univariates analysed by Log-rank and multivariates analysed by Cox regression. Results The 1-,2-and 3-year cumulative survival rates of the cases from primary liver carcinoma were 54.5%,25.5%and 16.4%re-spectively.The mediate survival time was 13 months. And the cases with bone metastasis were 23.6%,10.9%and 1.8%respectively.The mediate survival time was 5.5 months.Factors such as metastasis to other organs,liv-er function, and the combined modality therapy were independent prognostic factors. While number of bone metas-tasis,AFP level and number of liver cancer had no significant relations with the survival rate. Conclusion The prognosis of bone metastasis from primary liver carcinoma is poor.It is important to take emphasis on combined mo-dality therapy, which may be benefit on reducing the symptom, improving the quality and prolong the life span.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2011;36(7):951-954
As the research on the signal transduction pathway of tumor is developing, people has become more aware of the confusion of the signal transduction mechanisms on the tumor cells and their effects on tumor growth, apoptosis, and metastasis. Currently, the research that Chinese medicine and its extract inducing apoptosis and angiogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma by acting on the signal transduction pathway has made gratifying progress. In this article, we will provide an overview of recent literature about this.

A comprehensive analytical method based on solid phase extraction-isotope dilution-gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry has been developed for the determination of musk xylene in cosmetics. Various cosmetic samples, including cream, lotion, powder, shampoo and lipstick, were extracted under ultrasonication. The extract was centrifuged, and the upper solution was concentrated by rotary evaporator. The reconstructed solution was then cleaned up by Sep-Pak Silica solid phase extraction cartridge. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out under the MRM mode after the chromatographic separation on DB-5 MS(30 m×0.25 mm, 0.25 μm) capillary column. The limit of quantitation(LOQ) for musk xylene was 5 μg/kg. The mean recoveries at the three spiked levels of 5-50 μg/kg were 81.1%-86.9%, with the intra-day precision less than 10% and the inter-day precision less than 12%. The method is accurate, rapid, sensitive and adapt to the inspection of musk xylene in cosmetics.
