ObjectiveTo explore the effectiveness and safety of vibration-kneading abdominal tuina as an adjunct treatment for insomnia of phlegm-heat harassing the interior syndrome with "stomach disharmony" symptom. MethodsSeventy-six insomnia patients of phlegm-heat harassing the interior syndrome with "stomach disharmony" symptom were recruited, and randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group with 38 cases in each group. The control group received eszopiclone 2mg once a night and sleep hygiene guidance, while the treatment group received vibration-kneading abdominal tuina additionally, 5 times a week, 30 min each time. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) (including sleep quality, time to fall asleep, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disorders, daytime functioning scores, and total scores) and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptom scores of "stomach disharmony" was assessed before and after 4-week treatment and at follow-up (12 weeks after treatment). Adverse events were also observed and recorded during the study. Pearson correlation analysis was used to assess the correlation between the pre-treatment PQSI total score and TCM symptom score of "stomach disharmony". ResultsThe PSQI scores of sleep quality, time to fall asleep, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disorders, daytime dysfunction scores, and total scores reduced in both groups decreased after treatment and at follow-up (P<0.05 or P<0.01), as well as the TCM symptom score of "stomach disharmony" (P<0.01). After treatment, the PSQI scores of sleep quality, sleep duration, and TCM symptom score of "stomach disharmony" of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). At follow-up, the PSQI scores of sleep quality, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, daytime dysfunction score, total score, and TCM symptom score of "stomach disharmony" of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01). No adverse reactions occurred in any participants during the study. There was a positive correlation between the patients' pre-treatment PQSI total scores and TCM symptom score of "stomach disharmony" (r=0.88, P<0.01). ConclusionVibration-kneading abdominal tuina as an adjunct treatment could significantly improve the symptoms of stomach and epigastric symptoms in insomnia patients of phlegm-heat harassing the interior syndrome with "stomach disharmony" symptom, and improve the quality of sleep, with good immediate and long-term therapeutic effects, and sound safety.

ObjectiveTo visualize the research trends of verbal and nonverbal cognitive functions in patients with post-stroke aphasia (PSA). MethodsPapers about verbal and nonverbal cognitive functions after stroke were extracted from Web of Science Core Collection from establishment to August, 2022, and a bibliometric analysis was conducted on the distribution of articles published by year, author, journal, institution, and country. Author cooperation, author co-citation, journal co-citation, country/institution cooperation, dynamic evolution, keyword hotspots, and trends were visually analyzed by using VOSviewer software. ResultsA total of 1 630 publications were identified for final analysis. The first article related to the topic was retrieved in 2004. After that, the number of published papers showed an increasing trend year by year, with some fluctuations after 2019. Matthew A. Lambon Ralph and Elizabeth Jefferies were the authors who produced the most, were cited the most, and were the most influential. Neuropsychologia was a highly productive and well-cited publication. The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom and Johns Hopkins University in the United States were the nations/institutions with high yield and high centrality. Although China had a high yield and was in the top five, the centrality was insufficient. The dynamic emergence of keywords revealed that the research had gone through the following stages: evaluating the mechanism of language and nonverbal cognitive function impairment based on neuroimage, exploring the role of nonverbal cognitive dysfunction in pathology and recovery mechanisms of patients with PSA, examining the therapeutic mechanism of non-invasive brain stimulation and electronic tele-rehabilitation equipment, and revealing not only the frontal and temporal areas but also brain network supporting nonverbal cognition. ConclusionIn recent years, some achievements have been made in the researches on verbal and nonverbal cognitive function, particularly in the studies of the neuroimaging-based mechanisms of common damage and the intervention effects of synergistic therapy. In the future, academic cooperation between different regions and different teams needs to be strengthened. Further exploration should be focused on refining the cognitive neuropsychology and exploring new technologies to improve the therapeutic effect of PSA.

Nucleoside drugs play an essential role in treating major diseases such as tumor and viral infections, and have been widely applied in clinics. However, the effectiveness and application of nucleoside drugs are significantly limited by their intrinsic properties such as low bioavailability, lack of targeting ability, and inability to enter the cells. Nanocarriers can improve the physiological properties of nucleoside drugs by improving drug delivery efficiency and availability, maintaining drug efficacy and system stability, adjusting the binding ability of the carrier and drug molecules, as well as modifying specific molecules to achieve active targeting. Starting from the design strategy of nucleoside drug nanodelivery systems, the design and therapeutic effect of these nanomedicines are described in this review, and the future development directions of nucleoside/nucleotide-loaded nanomedicines are also discussed.

Malaria remains one of the most serious public health problems in tropical and subtropical countries and regions. In the control of the vector Anopheles, insecticide-treated bed nets and indoor residual spraying, which have been promoted to interrupt malaria transmission by only preventing indoor blood-sucking by adult mosquitoes, consequently have been widely used in malaria-endemic areas. However, the efficacy of these measures in interrupting malaria transmission is gradually decreasing due to the development of mosquito resistance. In contrast, Anopheles larval source management can effectively reduce the population density of indoor and outdoor blood-sucking, wild and domestic mosquitoes. It can also be combined with adult mosquito control to become an important adjunct to existing adult mosquito control measures. In more than 70 years of malaria control and elimination in China, according to different conditions in different places, exploration and practice have been carried out in different types of control of malaria Anopheles larvae, such as habitat modification, habitat manipulation, larviciding, and biological control. These efforts have accumulated rich experience and resulted in strategies tailored to local conditions, integrated control, community involvement, and methodological innovation. This paper outlines the main practices and basic strategies of Anopheles larval source management for malaria control in China, with the aim of providing references for malaria control in other regions where malaria is still endemic.

Objective:To explore the feasibility and clinical effects of using superficial temporal artery lobulated perforator flaps in repairing skin and soft tissue defects after tumor resection in the temporal region. Methods:A retrospective observational study method was used. From March 2017 to October 2022, ten patients with temporal skin tumors were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University, including six women and four men, with age ranging from 42 to 87 years. Among them, three patients had squamous cell carcinoma and seven patients had basal cell carcinoma, with disease duration ranging from 6 months to 5 years. All temporal tumors underwent expanded resection, leaving wound areas of 5.4 cm×4.2 cm to 7.0 cm×4.0 cm after tumor resection. Superficial temporal artery frontal branch flaps with areas of 5.5 cm×1.2 cm to 7.0 cm×1.5 cm, superficial temporal artery descending branch flaps with areas of 4.2 cm×3.5 cm to 5.0 cm×4.0 cm, and superficial temporal artery parietal branch flaps with areas of 4.2 cm×1.0 cm to 5.0 cm×1.0 cm were designed to repair the wounds and reconstruct the hairline. The donor areas of the flaps were closed and sutured directly. The survival of the flaps was observed on 3 to 5 days after surgery, and the healing of wounds on the donor and recipient sites was observed when the stitches were removed on 5 to 7 days after surgery. During follow-up after surgery, the appearance of the temporal area, scar hyperplasia, hairline reconstruction, and tumor recurrence were observed in the temporal region on the affected side. Results:All the flaps survived well on 3 to 5 days after surgery, and all the donor and recipient site wounds healed well on 5 to 7 days after surgery. During follow-up of 3 to 6 months after surgery, the surgical incisions were concealed; the flaps were not swollen, with a consistent color to the surrounding skin; there were no obvious hypertrophic scars; the reconstructed hairline on the affected side was not significantly different from that of the healthy side; there was no tumor recurrence in the local area. Conclusions:For large areas of skin and soft tissue defects in the temporal region, the use of superficial temporal artery lobulated perforator flaps can repair the wounds in different regions and suture the donor sites in the primary stage simultaneously. The surgical operation is simple, and the facial appearance conforms to the aesthetic requirement after surgery with no tumor recurrence in the local area but a good repair effect. This method is particularly suitable for repairing large areas of skin and soft tissue defects in the temporal region in elderly patients.

The finite element method is a new method to study the mechanism of brain injury caused by blunt instruments. But it is not easy to be applied because of its technology barrier of time-consuming and strong professionalism. In this study, a rapid and quantitative evaluation method was investigated to analyze the craniocerebral injury induced by blunt sticks based on convolutional neural network and finite element method. The velocity curve of stick struck and the maximum principal strain of brain tissue (cerebrum, corpus callosum, cerebellum and brainstem) from the finite element simulation were used as the input and output parameters of the convolutional neural network The convolutional neural network was trained and optimized by using the 10-fold cross-validation method. The Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Square Error (MSE), and Goodness of Fit ( R 2) of the finally selected convolutional neural network model for the prediction of the maximum principal strain of the cerebrum were 0.084, 0.014, and 0.92, respectively. The predicted results of the maximum principal strain of the corpus callosum were 0.062, 0.007, 0.90, respectively. The predicted results of the maximum principal strain of the cerebellum and brainstem were 0.075, 0.011, and 0.94, respectively. These results show that the research and development of the deep convolutional neural network can quickly and accurately assess the local brain injury caused by the sticks blow, and have important application value for understanding the quantitative evaluation and the brain injury caused by the sticks struck. At the same time, this technology improves the computational efficiency and can provide a basis reference for transforming the current acceleration-based brain injury research into a focus on local brain injury research.

BACKGROUND:How to make more transplanted bone marrow stem cel s stay and differentiate in the liver is an important issue, which is also crucial for treatment of liver cirrhosis via the hepatic artery.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the therapeutic effect of autologous bone marrow stem cel transplantation via the hepatic artery on liver cirrhosis.
METHODS:Thirty New Zealand white rabbits were equivalently randomized into normal control, stem cel transplantation and model groups. Animal models of liver cirrhosis were made in the latter two groups. Then, model rabbits in the stem cel transplantation group were subjected to autologous bone marrow stem cel transplantation via the hepatic artery. Liver function of rabbits was detected in 1, 2, 4, 8, 10 weeks after cel transplantation, and pathological detection of the liver was performed in the 10th week.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 10 weeks after cel transplantation, the liver function of the rabbits was improved significantly compared with the model group, including reduced activities of serum alanine aminotransferase, total bilirubin and aspartate aminotransferase, shortened activated partial thromboplastin time, and increased albumin level (P<0.05). Pathological examination of the liver showed that the liver cel s in the stem cel transplantation group were intact with no obvious edema and stil had the structure of the pseudolobule, and compared with the model group, the degree of liver fibrosis was significantly reduced in the stem cel transplantation group. Our experimental results show that the transplantation of autologous bone marrow stem cel s via the hepatic artery has a certain therapeutic effect on liver cirrhosis by increasing the body albumin content in a short time and improving the liver function.
