1.The effect of ozone exposure on asthma and the potential mechanisms

Near-surface ozone is a profoundly reactive and highly oxidizing gas and one of the critical respiratory toxicants. Numerous epidemiological investigations have indicated that asthmatic individuals are the vulnerable group of ozone exposure, and there is a strong correlation between ozone exposure and asthma morbidity and mortality rates. The potential mechanisms include oxidative stress, inflammatory response, autonomic nerve impairment, and immune dysfunction. The present study summarized and discussed the effect of ozone exposure on asthma and its underlying biological mechanisms in order to galvanize public cognizance concerning the perils of ozone pollution and serve as a reference for future research on ozone exposure and asthma.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is an autoimmune disease with the basic pathological manifestation of synovial inflammation.Symmetric poly-articular pain and swelling are the main symptoms in clinical practice,and even extra-articular manifestations and comorbidities such as interstitial fibrosis and coronary artery disease are triggered,which seriously affect the quality of life of patients.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has achieved good clinical efficacy in the prevention and treatment of RA with the advantages of multi-pathway,multi-target,multi-component,and less toxic side effects,and plays an important role in the treatment of RA.Recently,many studies have demonstrated that Chinese medicine monomers and Chinese herbal compound can control inflammation,reduce angiogenesis,induce apoptosis of synovial fibroblasts,and inhibit their proliferation,invasion and migration by regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway,so as to play a key role in the treatment of RA.For this reason,the article summarizes current knowledge regarding the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway and its role in RA,as well as summarizes the current research progress of TCM in the treatment of RA by regulating the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.The aim of this review is to provide theoretical bases for the prevention and treatment of RA and the development of new drugs.

Ankylosing spondylitis(AS)is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease characterized by inflammatory back pain.Its pathological features mainly include inflammation,bone destruction,and pathologic new bone formation.The etiology of AS is complex,and it may be related to genetics,infections,the environment,and intestinal flora.Its pathogenesis has not yet been clarified.In recent years,osteoimmunology,as a new theme in the study of inflammatory arthritis,plays an important role in the pathogenesis and development of AS,which was embodied in the inflammatory response and imbalance of bone metabolism.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has the characteristics of multiple pathways,multiple components,multiple targets and multiple levels.TCM can improve the inflammatory response and bone metabolism imbalance of AS by regulating the osteoblasts of the skeletal system and the related factors of the immune system,thus to prevent and control AS.For this reason,the paper summarizes the role of bone immunology in the pathogenesis of AS,and reviews the current status of research on the intervention of TCM in bone immunology for the treatment of AS,with a view to providing certain references for the future clinical application of TCM in the prevention and treatment of AS.
4.Exploring the Mechanism and Intervention Strategies of Osteoporosis Based on the TLR4 Signaling Pathway

Osteoporosis (OP) is a prevalent metabolic bone disease with a complex pathogenesis that has not yet been fully elucidated. Recent studies have revealed that the Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling pathway plays a significant role in the development and progression of OP. TLR4, a crucial immune receptor primarily expressed in immune cells, is involved in inflammatory responses and immune regulation. The TLR4 signaling pathway influences bone metabolism and remodeling through multiple mechanisms. Therefore, investigating the role of the TLR4 signaling pathway in OP is of great significance for its prevention and treatment. Research targeting the TLR4 signaling pathway provides novel insights and approaches for OP therapy. Future studies should further explore the mechanisms of the TLR4 signaling pathway, develop therapeutic agents that modulate this pathway, and validate their efficacy in OP through clinical trials, thereby offering more options for the clinical management of OP.
5.Research progress of microbes in subway air

Accumulating studies suggest that, as the subway is one of the important means of transport in cities, airborne microorganisms in its system have potential effects on human health, but previous studies have mainly focused on some foreign cities. We reviewed the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics of airborne microorganisms in subway stations in different cities, including diurnal, weekly, and seasonal variations, and the distribution of microorganisms in different regions of the world. The factors affecting airborne microorganisms, such as human activities, temperature and humidity, ventilation, and particulate matter, were presented. The potential health effects were described. Although there was no significant risk of infection from using subway, many pathogens do exist in the air. The influence of microorganisms in subway air on health has become a public health problem that cannot be ignored.
7. Research progress of ambient air pollution and human health in China

As one of the major environmental and health problems in China, ambient air pollution has attracted substantial public concerns. This paper reviews the current evidence on air pollution and population health in China, including acute health effect studies, chronic health effect studies, disease burden, and interventions studies. Future research directions are also discussed.

Objective:
To explore the effect of fine particulate matters (PM2.5) exposure on emergency visits and outpatient visits of 5 hospitals in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou from 2013 to 2015.
Methods:
Using convenient sampling method, 5 general hospitals in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou were selected which included Beijing hospital, China-Japan friendship hospital, Xinhua hospital affiliated to Shanghai jiaotong University School of Medicine, the liwan hospital of the third affiliated hospital and the first affiliated hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. The emergency and outpatient data, air pollution monitoring data and meteorological data were collected from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2015. A generalized additive model was used to analyze the effect of PM2.5 exposure on daily hospital emergency and outpatient visits, and Meta analysis was used to obtain the combined effect value.

10. Review on methods in the disease burden assessment attributable to household air pollution

In the past decades, people's work and life styles have dramatically changed during the rapid economic development and urbanization in China. A national survey reported that Chinese adults spend an average of 81% of daily time in indoor environment. Exposure to indoor air pollution plays key roles for human health but is likely to be neglected due on the relatively lower concentration levels and lower awareness among common people. Till now, published studies focus more on the pollution levels or the toxicological effects of indoor air pollutants but there is a lack of disease burden assessment attributable to indoor air pollution. In this review, several international studies were introduced on the disease burden estimation attributable to indoor air pollution, as well as the estimation methods. The current situation of national study was also reviewed. The strengths and limitations of the representative international studies were discussed. This review is helpful in providing data to guide the research on disease burden assessment attributable to indoor air pollution in China, and further helps to prioritize the indoor air pollution control based on disease burden ranking among pollutants and motivate public policies to protect the public health.
