Objective To study the microscopic structure and morphological characteristics of Zebrafish eyeball and retina at different developmental stages, and to lay a foundation for visual research model. Methods Select eight groups of zebrafish at different ages, with six fish in each group, 48 fish in total. Optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were used to observe the eyeball structure of Zebrafish at different developmental stages, and the thickness of retinal each layer was measured to analyze the temporal and spatial development pattern. The morphological characteristics of various cells in the retina and the way of nerve connection were observed from the microscopic and ultrastructural aspects, especially the structural differences between rod cells and cone cells. Results The retina of Zebrafish can be divided into ten layers including retinal pigment epithelial layer, rod cells and cone cells layer, outer limiting membrane, outer nuclear layer, outer plexiform layer, inner nuclear layer, inner plexiform layer, ganglion cell layer, nerve fiber layer, inner limiting membrane. Rod cells had a smaller nucleus and a higher electron density than cone cells. Photoreceptor terminals were neatly arranged in the outer plexiform layer, forming neural connections with horizontal cells and bipolar cells, and several synaptic ribbons are clearly visible within them. In Zebrafish retina, ganglion cell layer and inner plexiform layer are the earliest developed. With the growth and development of Zebrafish, the thickness of rod cells and cone cells layer and retinal pigment epithelial layer gradually increases, and the retinal structure was basically developed in about 10 weeks. Conclusion The retinal structure of Zebrafish is typical, with obvious stratification and highly differentiated nerve cells. There are abundant neural connections in the outer plexiform layer. The ocular development characteristics of Zebrafish are similar to those of most mammals.

Chinese Journal of Lung Cancer 2024;27(3):193-198
Background and objective Malnutrition is commonly associated with poor prognosis in patients with malignant tumors. The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR)is an indicator of inflammation in the body and predicts the risk of malnutrition in a variety of diseases;however, its association with malnutrition in lung cancer patients is unclear. The aim of this study is to clarify the association between NLR and nutritional status in stage Ⅳ primary lung cancer and to further deter-mine the optimal NLR cut-off that best predicts the risk of malnutrition. Methods A retrospective analysis of 209 patients ad-mitted to the Department of Medical Oncology,Tianjin Medical University General Hospital with a primary diagnosis of stageⅣ lung cancer from May 2019 to February 2021 was performed, and the nutritional risk screening 2002(NRS 2002)was used to examine their nutritional status.Patient demographic information, pathology,Karnofsky performance status(KPS)score, body mass index(BMI),comorbidities and clinical biochemical indicators were also included. The correlation between NLR and NRS 2002 was investigated.Receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was used to determine the best NLR cut-off predi cting malnutrition risk.Multivariable Logistic regression was used to assess the association between NLR and malnutrition risk. Results The rate of patients with stage Ⅳ primary lung cancer at nutritional risk was 36.36%(76/209).A significant positive correlation was observed between NLR values and NRS 2002 risk score(r=0.765,P<0.001).The ROC curve analysis indicated that an NLR of 3.94 was the optimal cut-off for predicting malnutrition risk(area under the curve=0.747,95%CI:0.678-0.815,P<0.001),which showed a sensitivity of 55%,a specificity of 86%,a positive predictive value of 68%,and a negative predictive value of 77%.Patients in the NLR>3.94 group had a significantly higher risk of malnutrition compared to those in the NLR≤3.94 group(69.49%vs 23.33%,P<0.00 1).Furthermore,NLR was identified as a risk factor for malnutrition in stage Ⅳ primary lung cancer patients. Conclusion NLR is associated with the risk of malnutrition in stage Ⅳ primary lung cancer, and NLR can be used as one of the indicators for screening nutritional risk in patients with stage Ⅳ primary lung cancer

Objective To develop an MRI-based habitat radiomics model for the preoperative prediction of endometrial cancer(EC)molecular subtypes. Methods Patients with pathologically proven EC from two hospitals were included in the training(n=270)and testing(n=70)cohorts.All patients had preoperative MRI and histological and molecular diagnoses.First, the tumor was divided into habitat subregions based on diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI)and contrast-enhanced(CE)images.Subsequently,habitat radiomic features were extracted from different subregions of T1-weighted imaging(T1WI),T2-weighted imaging(T2WI),DWI,and CE images.Three machine learning classifiers, including logistic regression, support vector machines, and random forests, were applied to develop predictive models for p53-abnormal endometrial cancer, with model performance validated. The model demonstrating the best overall predictive performance was selected as the habitat radiomics model.Using the same procedure,a whole-region radiomics model based on T1WI,T2WI,DWI,and CE sequences and a clinical model were constructed. The performance of the models was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curves, and DeLong's test was employed to compare differences between the models.Decision curve analysis was used to assess the clinical benefits of the models'application. Results After feature selection, eight habitat radiomic features were retained to construct the habitat radiomics model, ten features for the whole-region radiomics model, and three clinical features for the clinical model. The habitat radiomics model achieved the highest area under the curve(AUC),with 0.855(0.788-0.922)in the training cohort and 0.769(0.631-0.907)in the testing cohort.DeLong's test showed that the habitat radiomics model outperformed the whole-region radiomics model in the training cohort(P=0.001),but there was no significant difference in the testing cohort(P=0.543).In both cohorts, the habitat radiomics model outperformed the clinical model(P=0.007,training cohort;P=0.038,testing cohort).Decision curve analysis(DCA)demonstrated that this model provided clinical benefit for diagnosis within a threshold probability range of approximately 0.2-0.8.Conclusion The MRI-based habitat radiomics model can accurately predict p53-abnormal EC,outperforming both the whole-region radiomics model and the clinical model, and is useful for the non-invasive molecular subtyping of endometrial cancer before surgery.

In recent years, the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)industry has experienced rapid development, resulting in a significant amount of Chinese medicinal residues generated during the industrial manufacturing process. Currently, the main methods of handling Chinese medicinal residues include stacking, landfilling, and incineration, which lead to substantial resource waste and potential environmental pollution. With "carbon peak" and "carbon neutrality"( "Dual Carbon")becoming national strategic goals, the TCM industry is ushering in a new wave of "low-carbon" trends, and the high-value utilization of Chinese medicinal residues has become a breakthrough for implementing a low-carbon economy in the TCM sector. From the perspective of a low-carbon economy, this article reviewed literature in China and abroad to summarize the microbial transformation technology, enzymatic conversion technology, biomass pyrolysis, gasification, hydrothermal liquefaction, and other high-value utilization technologies for Chinese medicinal residues. It also overviewed the applications of Chinese medicinal residue in feed additives, organic fertilizers, edible mushroom cultivation substrates, preparation of activated carbon for wastewater treatment, and new energy batteries. Considering the current status of resource utilization of Chinese medicinal residues, feasible strategies and suggestions for resource development and utilization were proposed to improve the quality and efficiency of the Chinese medicinal resource industry chain and promote green development, thereby providing research ideas and theoretical basis for achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.
