Objective To evaluate the current radiation doses in pediatric non-cardiac interventional procedures, and analyze the associated clinical factors, and to provide data references for reducing pediatric radiation exposure. Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of the radiation doses of children who had undergone non-cardiac interventional procedures at the interventional department of a tertiary pediatric hospital in Jinan from January 2022 to October 2024. The collected data included basic demographic information, surgical date, anatomical site, disease type, and radiation dose parameters (cumulative fluoroscopy time, cumulative dose area product in cine mode, cumulative air kerma, and the number of images acquired). The Kruskal-Wallis H test was used for comparative analysis between groups (P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant). Results Among the 475 included children, 99 cases (20.8%) had infantile hemangioma (median Pka, 0.136 Gy·cm2; median Ka,r, 0.38 mGy), 235 cases (49.5%) had venous malformation (median Pka, 9.82 Gy·cm2; median Ka,r, 40.99 mGy), 75 cases (15.8%) had lymphatic malformation (median Pka, 0.06 Gy·cm2; median Ka,r, 0.18 mGy), 32 cases (6.7%) had retinoblastoma (median Pka, 6.58 Gy·cm2; median Ka,r, 52.34 mGy), 12 cases (2.5%) had arteriovenous malformation (median Pka, 42.3 Gy·cm2; median Ka,r, 162.87 mGy), and 22 cases (4.6%) had other vascular malformations (median Pka, 21.7 Gy·cm2; median Ka,r, 89.1 mGy). There were significant differences between children with different disease types in the cumulative fluoroscopy time, cumulative dose area product in cine mode, cumulative air kerma at the patient entrance reference point, and the number of images acquired during non-cardiac interventional procedures (all P < 0.01). Conclusion This study presented the types and proportions of pediatric non-cardiac interventional procedures, evaluated the radiation dose levels of different surgical types, and analyzed the effects of weight and anatomical site on radiation exposure, which can be useful for preliminary assessment of radiation doses in pediatric non-cardiac interventional procedures.

Journal of Gynecologic Oncology 2023;34(2):e19-
Objective:
Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignant tumor. CircRNAs play crucial roles in cancer progression and metastasis. However, the biological functions of circRNAs in EC remain largely unknown.
Methods:
CircSMAD2, miR-1277-5p, MFGE8 and relative maker protein expression in EC tissues or cell lines were analyzed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. In vitro and in vivo functional assays, including EDU, CCK8, colony formation, transwell, tube formation and tumor xenograft assays, were conduct to explore the effects of circSMAD2 on EC. Mechanism assays were conducted to confirm the binding between miR-1277-5p and circSMAD2 or MFGE8 expression.
Results:
Upregulation of circSMAD2 was uncovered in both EC tissues and cell lines. Functionally, silencing of circSMAD2 apparently inhibited the proliferation, migration, invasion and angiogenesis of EC cell lines in vitro. Mechanistically, circSMAD2 sponged miR-1277-5p to upregulate MFGE8 expression. The decrease of miR-1277-5p and increase of MFGE8 were observed both in EC tissues and cell lines. Then MFGE8 knockdown or miR-1277-5p upregulation suppressed EC cell oncogenic biological behavior. Rescue experiments showed that miR-1277-5p mimics countervailed the anticancer effects of circSMAD2 silencing on EC. Besides that, MFGE8 overexpression also attenuated the inhibitory action of miR-1277-5p mimic in EC. Moreover, knockdown of circSMAD2 inhibited EC growth in vivo.
Conclusion
CircSMAD2 functions as an oncogene in promoting the progression of EC through miR-1277-5p/MFGE8 axis.

Objective:To look for the problems faced in the construction of the tele-critical care system, explore the framework of construction of the tele-critical care system, and verify the application effects of the established tele-critical care system. Methods:Through literature review and on-site investigation and demonstration, the causes affecting the construction of the tele-critical care system were explored. Through on-site investigation of the actual situation of the critical care department in relevant hospitals, arguing and choosing intended intensive care unit (ICU) and cooperative third-party communication and equipment companies, and through the Internet of Things and 5G communication technology, a tele-critical care system with the core hospital of the group as the center and the member institutes within the group as the nodes was built. Via the established tele-critical care system, activities such as tele-monitoring, visual remote ward rounds, remote consultation, remote teaching were carried out to verify the functions of the system. Results:The insufficient cognition of relevant personnel, tele-medicine practice certification requirements, information security issues and the barriers of equipment information integration were the main causes affecting the construction of tele-critical care system. There were five parts in the tele-critical care system architecture foundations, including bed unit equipment and audio and video information collection system, lossless and secure transmission of collected information, real-time display of information in the remote center, real-time staff interaction between the centre and the nodal hospitals, and information cloud storage. It has been verified that patients' diagnostic and treatment information can be transmitted safely, losslessly and in real-time by a special line through private 5G network. Through this system, real-time and stable upload of audio and video information of patients and application information of monitors, ventilators and infusion work stations can be achieved; combined with tele-conference connections to conduct two-way communication with local medical staff, real-time tele-monitoring, visual remote ward rounds, remote consultation, remote teaching and other functions can be achieved. Conclusion:The tele-critical care system we established is feasible to construct within the medical group and can safely and effectively realize the functions of real-time tele-monitoring, visual remote ward rounds, remote consultation, and remote teaching.

Mesocotyl elongation is a key trait influencing seedling emergence and establishment in direct-seeding rice cultivation. The phytohormone gibberellin (GA) has positive effects on mesocotyl elongation in rice. However, the physiological and molecular basis underlying the regulation of mesocotyl elongation mediated by GA priming under deep-sowing conditions remains largely unclear. In the present study, we performed a physiological and comprehensive transcriptomic analysis of the function of GA priming in mesocotyl elongation and seedling emergence using a direct-seeding

Efforts to control inflammation and achieve better tissue repair in the treatment of periodontitis have been ongoing for years. Human β-defensin 3, a broad-spectrum antimicrobial peptide has been proven to have a variety of biological functions in periodontitis; however, relatively few reports have addressed the effects of human periodontal ligament cells (hPDLCs) on osteogenic differentiation. In this study, we evaluated the osteogenic effects of hPDLCs with an adenoviral vector encoding human β-defensin 3 in an inflammatory microenvironment. Then human β-defensin 3 gene-modified rat periodontal ligament cells were transplanted into rats with experimental periodontitis to observe their effects on periodontal bone repair. We found that the human β-defensin 3 gene-modified hPDLCs presented with high levels of osteogenesis-related gene expression and calcium deposition. Furthermore, the p38 MAPK pathway was activated in this process. In vivo, human β-defensin 3 gene-transfected rat PDLCs promoted bone repair in SD rats with periodontitis, and the p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway might also have been involved. These findings demonstrate that human β-defensin 3 accelerates osteogenesis and that human β-defensin 3 gene modification may offer a potential approach to promote bone repair in patients with periodontitis.

Objective To detect the protein expression change in the proliferation of human retinal microvascular endothelial cells (hRMECs) stimulated with 4-Hydroxynonenal (4-HNE).Methods hRMECs were in a logarithmic growth phase, and then were separated into 4-HNE-stimulated group and negative control group. The concentration of 4-HNE included 5, 10, 20 and 50 μmol/L in 4-HNE-stimulated group, while the negative control group was added in the same volume of ethanol (the solvent of 4-HNE). Then the cells were stimulated with 4-HNE for 24 hours following by CCK-8 kits incubating for 4 hours to detect absorbance. It was found that 10 μmol/L 4-HNE had the most obvious effect on the proliferation of hRMECs. Therefore, the cellular proteins from 10 μmol/L 4-HNE-stimulated group and negative control group were acquired and prepared by FASP sample preparation method. Data independent acquisition was used for data acquisition, and the GO analysis and pathway enrichment were performed for analysis of differentially expressed proteins. Results CCK-8 kits detection results showed that theA value of the 10 and 20 μmol/L 4-HNE-stimulated groups were significantly higher than negative control group and 5 μmol/L 4-HNE-stimulated group (F=25.42, P<0.01), while there were no differences between 10 and 20 μmol/L 4-HNE-stimulated groups, and theA value of 50 μmol/L 4-HNE-stimulated groups was lower than negative control. A total of 2710 quantifiable proteins were identified by peoteomics, and 118 proteins were differentially expressed (fold change>1.5,P<0.05). Seventy-two proteins were up-regulated after 4-HNE stimulation, whereas 46 proteins were down-regulated. Particularly, the expressions of Heme oxygenase-1, Sulfoxdoxin-1, Heat shock protein A1B, Thioredoxin reductase-1, Glutathione reductase, ATPase and prothrombin were increased when cells were added in 4-HNE, whereas the expressions of apolipoprotein A1 and programmed cell death protein 4 were decreased. These differentially expressed proteins were mainly involved in the biological processes such as oxidative stress, cell detoxification, and ATPase-coupled membrane transport. Conclusion After stimulated with 4-HNE, the oxidative stress, cell detoxification, and ATPase-coupled membrane transport protein expression may change in hRMECs in order to regulate oxidative stress and growth situation.

Objective? To explore the effect of standardized psychological intervention on quality of life in patients with medium or advanced cancer. Methods? By convenience sampling, a total of 60 patients with medium or advanced cancer were selected and divided into control group (n=30) and observation group (n=30) according to random number table, the patients were numbered based on their order of admission. The control group received supportive nursing intervention while the observation group received the standardized psychological intervention. The Quality of Life Core Questionnaire was used before and after the intervention to evaluate the life quality of the two groups. During the research process, 9 cases were lost in the observation group and the rest 21 cases were enrolled into the study while 10 cases were lost in the control group with 20 cases left. Results? Before intervention, the overall cognitive function and quality of life of the observation group were different with statistical significance (P<0.05), and there were no statistical differences in the rest dimensions between the two groups (P> 0.05). After intervention, the observation group scored differently from the control group in the dimensions of emotional function, cognitive function, overall quality of life, pain symptoms,Insomnia symptoms, and loss of appetite with statistical significance (P< 0.05). The observation group scored higher than the control group in emotional function and overall quality of life, but lower than the control group in cognitive function, pain symptoms, insomnia symptoms and loss of appetite. The differences of scores before and after intervention between the two groups in emotional function, pain symptoms, nausea and vomiting, insomnia symptoms and loss of appetite, constipation symptoms and diarrhea symptoms were statistically significant (P< 0.05). After intervention, the observation group showed improvement in terms of the symptoms including emotional function, pain, nausea and vomiting, insomnia and loss of appetite. Conclusions The adoption of the standardized psychological intervention for patients with medium or advanced cancer could improve their negative emotions, enhance their confidence in treatment, and improve their quality of life.
