Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(9):1262-1265
Objective:
To understand the indoor light at night (LAN) exposure intensity during sleep among children and adolescents in Shanghai, so as to provide a basis for exploring potential health risks and formulating effective interventions.
Methods:
From April to December in 2024, a total of 628 students in grades 4-7 were recruited from three schools in Shanghai. A portable illuminance meter was used to measure LAN for one week, and participants recorded their sleep time. The Kruskal-Wallis H- test was used for comparison between groups, and the error bar chart was used to show the trend and variation range of average LAN exposure intensity in different sleep periods.
Results:
The indoor LAN exposure intensity of children and adolescents in Shanghai was [2.4(0.8, 5.9)lx] during sleep, and 28.8% of children and adolescents were exposed to indoor LAN≥5 lx. There was no significant differences in indoor LAN exposure intensity between boys [2.4(1.0, 5.9)lx] and girls [2.3(0.7, 5.9)lx] ( Z=-0.86, P > 0.05 ). The indoor LAN exposure intensity of primary school students [2.9(1.1, 6.6)lx] was higher than that of junior high school students [1.0(0.3, 3.1)lx] ( Z =-5.87), and indoor LAN exposure intensity of students in the main urban area [3.2(1.1, 7.8)lx] was higher than that of rural students [1.6(0.5, 4.3)lx] ( Z =-5.23)(both P <0.05). The indoor LAN exposure intensity showed an overall decreasing trend during sleep of children and adolescents ( tau=-0.81, P =0.02), with a slight increase before waking up.
Conclusions
Indoor LAN exposure intensity among children and adolescents in Shanghai is generally high, especially among primary school students and students living in the main urban area. Health policy and education should be strengthened to reduce the impact of LAN on children and adolescent health.

Deciphering the metabolites of multiple components in herbal medicine has far-reaching significance for revealing pharmacodynamic ingredients. However, most chemical components of herbal medicine are secondary metabolites with low content whose in vivo metabolites are close to trace amounts, making it difficult to achieve comprehensive detection and identification. In this paper,an efficient strategy was proposed:herb-derived metabolites were predicted according to the structural characteristics and metabolic reactions of chemical constituents in Corydalis Rhizoma and chemical structure screening tables for metabolites were conducted. The fragmentation patterns were summarized from represen-tative standards combining with specific cleavage behaviors to deduce structures of metabolites.Ion abundance plays an important role in compound identification, and high ion abundance can improve identification accuracy. The types of metabolites in different biological samples were very similar, but their ion abundance might be different. Therefore, for trace metabolites in biological samples,we used the following two methods to process:metabolites of high dose herbal extract were analyzed to char-acterize those of clinical dose herbal extracts in the same biological samples;cross-mapping of different biological samples was applied to identify trace metabolites based on the fact that a metabolite has different ion abundance in different biological samples.Compared with not using this strategy,44 more metabolites of clinical dose herbal extract were detected. This study improved the depth, breadth, and accuracy of current methods for herb-derived metabolites characterization.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2020;41(11):1719-1722
Objective:
To evaluated the application of General Provisions of Safety and Health for Writing Boards(GB 28231-2011), and to provide basis for the revision and improvement of the standard.
Methods:
From June to October 2018, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 852 people engaged in the evaluation, use and production of writing boards in 8 districts of Beijing, Liaoning and Jiangsu. The contents of the survey include the awareness, implementation of the standard and evaluating the use of various parameters in the standard by personnel from different institutions.
Results:
The overall awareness ratio of the standard among staffs from health, education and enter prise was 78.26%. For the nominal size of the writing board and the vertical distance between the lower edge and the platform, the reasonableness considered lower by health professionals(62.50%, 37.50%) than that of education professionals(90.00%, 90.00%) and enterprise staffs(90.00%, 90.00%)(P<0.05); For the frequency and reasonableness of the nine parameters such as gloss and adhesion, the perception of each institution were significantly different(P<0.05), with proportion of professionals in health lower than experts in education and enterprise. For the two parameters of color and light resistance, each institution considered the maneuverability was not strong(P>0.05).
Conclusion
Propagation and implement is still needed to strengthen comprehension, because different institutions have different understandings towards the standard. There are still some problems waiting to be solved, such as different standard limits, poor enforceability of two parameters which are writing board color and light resistance.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of dexmedetomidine mixed with ropivacaine for thoracic paravertebral nerve blocks by multiple injections for preemptive analgesia on postoperative analgesia of patients undergoing thoracotomy. Methods Ninety patients, all genders, ASA Ⅰ or Ⅱ, aged 35-64, BMI 18-24 kg/m2, undergoing radical operation for esophageal carcinoma were randomly divided into three groups (each group 30 patients): group C received general anesthesia, group R received ropivacaine for thoracic paravertebral nerve block and group RD received dexmedetomidine mixed with ropivacaine for thoracic paravertebral nerve block.Three groups all used intravenous infusion of propofol, refentanyl and inhalation sevoflurane for anesthesia maintenance, and PCIA pump started before the end of surgery in 3 groups.Meanwhile, group R and group RD received ultrasound-guided T4-T8thoracic paravertebral nerve blocks by multiple injections on operation side preoperatively. In group R, the mixture of 0.5% ropivacaine 19 ml and 1ml of normal saline was injected, and in group RD, the mixture of dexmedetomidine 1 μg/kg and 19 ml of 0.5% ropivacaine was injected. The analgesia process lasted 48 h after surgery of these 3 groups, and the VAS score was maintained<4 points. When the VAS score was 4 or more points, intravenous injection of morphine 5- 10 mg was delivered. Postoperative PCIA liquid and morphine consumption, somnolence, nausea, vomiting, respiratory depression, itching and urinary retention was recorded. Additionally, the occurrences of adverse events about thoracic paravertebral nerve blocks were recorded. Results The dosages of propofol, refentanyl in group R and group RD were lower than those in group G:(7.2 ± 0.6),(6.1 ± 0.5)mg/(kg·h)vs.(8.1 ± 0.5)mg/(kg·h), and there were significant differences(P<0.05).The dosage of propofol in group RD was lower than that in group R: (6.1 ± 0.5) mg/(kg·h) vs. (7.2 ± 0.6) mg/(kg·h), and there was significant difference (P <0.05). Compared with group G, the consumption of PCIA liqud and the usage rate of morphine was reduced in group R and group RD (P < 0.05); the consumption of PCIA liqud and the usage rate of morphine was lower in group RD than that in group R(P<0.05).The rate of nausea and vomiting and itch in group R and group RD was lower than that in group G,and there were significant differences(P<0.05). No significant difference in somnolence showed between three groups (P > 0.05). Conclusions Ropivacaine combined with dexmedetomidine for target thoracic paravertebral nerve blocks by multiple injections for preemptive analgesia can significantly improve the efficacy of postoperative analgesia after thoracotomy, meanwhile,it can also save the dosage of anesthetic drugs during the operation.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis value of the three-dimensional transvaginal ultrasound volume technology in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).Methods Totally 75 patients with PCOS and 50 normal subjects as controls from Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University were chosed. The volume of the endometrium and ovaries were measured with virtual organ computer-aided analysis techniques (VOCAL). While the follicular numbers and the volumes were measured by sono follicle technique. The ovarian volumes, the follicular volumes and the endometrial volumes were compared between the two groups. Independent samplest test was used to compare PCOS group patients and healthy subjects with endometrial volumes, ovarian volumes, follicle volumes and the average numbers of follicle. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the number of total follicles and the volume of ovary, follicle volume and serum sex hormone concentration in PCOS group. Results With the endometrial volume of PCOS patients about (1.6±0.9) cm3 was less than that of the control group [(3.1±1.7) cm3]. The ovarian volume, follicular volume and the average number of follicles were (13.6±4.6) cm3, (1.9±0.7) cm3 and (27.7±7.4). All of them were higher than those in healthy subjects [(7.4±2.9) cm3, (1.1±0.7) cm3, (8.4±3.4)], and the differences were statistically significant (t=6.013, P<0.001;t=8.087,P=0.015;t=7.222,P<0.001;t=15.637,P<0.001). The total number of follicles in PCOS patients were positively correlated with ovarian volume, follicle volume and serum testosterone concentrations (r=0.467,P=0.000;r=0.446,P=0.000;r=0.383,P=0.001). There was no correlation with luteinizing hormone (LH)/thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) (r=0.048,P=0.702).Conclusion The sono follicle and VOCAL technology provide a new and objective measurement method for PCOS diagnosis.

Objective To assess the application value of trans-vaginal ultrasound and real-time sono-elastography in assessing the risk of preterm birth in pregnant women. Methods A total of 108 pregnant women who received prenatal examination at Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from January to November 2017 were included. Based on the presence of threatened premature or preterm labor or not, they were divided into a study group (n=29, with threatened premature or preterm labor) and a control group (n=79, with no threatened premature or preterm labor). Cervical length (CL) was measured by trans-vaginal ultrasound, and the following three cervical elasticity indexes were obtained by sono-elastography: the entire cervical strain rate (CS), the internal cervical os strain rate (IS), and external cervical os strain rate (ES). Independent samples t-test was used to analyze the difference in the above indexes between the two groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to assess the value of the above indexes in predicting the risk of preterm birth. Results CL was significantly lower[(2.94±0.66)cm vs(3.91±0.71)cm]and IS was significantly higher [(0.53±0.28)% vs (0.47±0.20)%] in the study group than in the control group (t=6.436, 3.406,both P<0.05).CS and ES in the study group were higher than those in the control group[(0.40±0.30)% vs (0.24±0.19)%,(0.74±0.39)% vs(0.73±0.37)%],but the differences were not statistically significant(t=1.365, 0.207, both P>0.05). ROC curve analysis indicated that CL, CS, IS, and ES performed differently in assessing the risk of preterm birth in pregnant women [area under the ROC curve (AUC): 0.156, 0.558, 0.689, 0.499]. The AUCs of CS and IS were greater than 0.50, and the AUC of IS was larger than those of other indexes. Using 0.30% as a cut-off for IS, its sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 66.7%, 79.3%, 71.1%, 55.4%, and 80.2%, respectively. Conclusions Cervical tissue elasticity indexes obtained by sono-elastography can be used to assess pregnant women at different gestational ages and predict the risk of preterm birth feasibly. IS is more useful than other indexes in predicting early or asymptomatic preterm birth.
