Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis A in Guangxi from 2010 to 2020, and to provide a scientific basis for formulating effective prevention and control strategies. Methods Descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the incidence data of hepatitis A in Guangxi from 2010 to 2020. Results From 2010 to 2020, a total of 8,742 cases of hepatitis A were reported in Guangxi, with an average annual incidence rate of 1.66 /100,000. There were 5 298 male cases (60.60%), and 3,444 female cases (39.40%). The incidence rate decreased from 2.73/100 000 in 2010 to 1.38/100 000 in 2020. The onset seasonality was strong in 2010, but there was no obvious seasonality in other years. A total of 5 891 cases (67.39%) were aged from 25 to 64 years. Farmers accounted for 59.79% of the cases. A total of 7 hepatitis A outbreaks were reported during 2010-2020, including 273 cases, accounting for 3.12% of the total cases. The incidence rates of hepatitis A in Hezhou (3.97/100 000), Wuzhou (2.98/100 000), Hechi (2.44/100 000), Guigang (2.00/100 000) and Beihai (1.79/100 000) were relatively higher than other places. Conclusion The number of reported hepatitis A cases in Guangxi has been declining year by year, and the prevention and control measures of hepatitis A vaccine prevention are effective. The surveillance of hepatitis A should be strengthened, and prevention and control strategies should be formulated for high-risk areas and key populations.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2019;44(17):3758-3762
Ginsenoside Rh_2,firstly isolated from red ginseng,is protopanaxadiol type of steroidal saponin. Rh_2 possessed variety of activities, but bioavailability of oral administration Rh_2 was extremely low due to poor absorption. Moreover, ginsenoside Rh_2 exhibited toxicity on human normal cells. Therefore,to improve stronger anti-tumor activity and attenuate toxicity,it was essential to design and optimize chemical structure of ginsenoside Rh_2. Through n-octanoylchloride modifications,a novel ester derivative of ginsenoside Rh_2 named caprylic acid monoester of Rh_2( C-Rh_2) was designed and synthesized. Structure of novel ginsenoside derivative was identified by1 D and 2 D NMR,as well as ESI-MS analyses. Anti-tumor effect of C-Rh_2 was tested on H22 tumor bearing mice. C-Rh_2 displayed certain anti-tumor activities and exhibited less toxicity than Rh_2. In the present study,C-Rh_2 as ester form of ginsenoside Rh_2 showed better anti-tumor activity and less toxicity, but the specific mechanism needs further investigation.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors for liver cancer by gender in Shunde region, and to explore the potential interactions among influencing factors for liver cancer in males. Methods The relative excess risk of interaction (RERI) and other indices were used to evaluate the pair-wise interaction, and the classification and regression tree (CART) model was applied to explore the potential multi-factors interaction. Results This study included 1 037 male cases and 1 069 controls, together with 166 female cases and 185 controls. Chronic hepatitis B virus infection (CHB) and family history of liver cancer were significantly associated with increased risk of liver cancer both in males and females (both P<0.001). In males, positive additive interactions were observed between CHB and smoking or alcohol drinking, as well as between smoking and drinking. The RERI for CHB and smoking was 121.90(95% CI:52.85%-190.95%). Negative additive interactions were observed between exercise and CHB or smoking. Further, the CART analysis suggested that the CHB males who smoked and drank alcohol had the highest risk of liver cancer. Conclusions CHB and family history of liver cancer are important risk factors for liver cancer in both males and females. CHB, smoking, and alcohol drinking synergistically promote the incidence of liver cancer for males. Exercise can antagonize the hepatocarcinogenic effect of CHB and smoking.

Heishui county, located in northwest Sichuan province, southwestern China, is an endemic area of zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and is the most intractable area. VL is never destroyed in it. Asymptomatic dogs (Leishmania parasites have been diagnosed but clinically healthy) are considered to be a potential reservoir host in zoonotic VL area, and most can lead to infection of individuals, that is a new challenge for controlling VL in humans. The present study aimed to assess the Leishmania infection rate of asymptomatic dogs in Heishui county. Total 105 asymptomatic domestic dogs were gathered from 4 districts in Heishui county to investigate the infection rate with serological and molecular methods based on ELISA and kinetoplast minicircle DNA(kDNA) PCR, respectively. Out of 105 dogs, 44 (41.9%) were positive by more than 1 method; 21 (20.0%) were positive by ELISA, and 30 (28.6%) were positive by kDNA-PCR. Our study showed that Leishmania infection of domestic dogs which is clinically healthy is prevalent in the studied district, and the asymptomatic dogs infected by Leishmania may be the primary reason for the prevalence of visceral leishmaniasis in the area.
