A 27-year-old female patient suffering endolymphatic sac tumor with intralabyrinthine hemorrhage was reported. The patient had hearing loss in the left ear with continuous tinnitus, and MRI showed the soft tissue shadow of endolymphatic sac. Considering that the tumor involved semicircular canal and vestibule, endolymphatic cyst tumor resection was performed by labyrinth route. After surgery, there was no cerebrospinal fluid leakage and facial nerve function was normal. More importantly, enhanced MRI of temporal bone showed no tumor recurrence 1 year after surgery.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2015;35(5):447-450
OBJECTIVETo compare the differences in the efficacy on depression after breast cancer operation treated with auricular point sticking therapy, the combined program of auricular point sticking therapy and TCM psychotherapy and medication with deanxit.
METHODSNinety patients were randomized into 3 groups, 30 cases in each one. In the western medication group, the simple oral administration of deanxit was applied, one tablet a day. In the auricular point group, Xin (GO15), Shen (CO10), Gan(CO12), Shenmen(TF4), Pizhixia (AT), Neifenmi (CO18) were selected and stimulated with auricular point sticking on either side in each treatment, once a week. In the combined program group, on the basis of the treatment as the auricular point group, TCM psychotherapy was combined with. The treatment of 4 weeks made one session. One session and 4 weeks follow-up were required. The self-rating depression scale (SDS) was used to compare the score before and after treatment in the patients of each group and the efficacy was assessed.
RESULTS(1) Compared with those before treatment, in 4 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of follow-up, SDS scores were all reduced apparently in the 3 groups (all P<0.001). After 4 weeks of follow-up in the auricular point group, after 2 and 4 weeks of treatment and 4 weeks of follow-up in the combined program group, SDS scores were all lower than those in the western medication group (all P<0.05). (2) After 4 weeks of treatment, the curative rate in the combined program group was higher than that in the auricular point group and the western medication group [60.0% (18/30) vs. 40.0% (12/30), 36.7% (11/30), both P<0.05)]. After 4 weeks of follow-up, the curative rate in either the combined program group or the auricular point group was higher than that in the western medication group [60.0% (18/30), 30.0% (19/30) vs. 23.3% (7/30), both P<0.05].
CONCLUSIONThe auricular point sticking therapy, the combined program of auricular point sticking therapy and TCM psychotherapy, and medication with deanxit all relieve depression after breast cancer operation. The efficacy of the combined program with auricular point sticking therapy and TCM psychotherapy involved is the best, and the efficacy of the auricular point sticking therapy is better than the oral administration of deanxit.

Journal of Clinical Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery 2015;29(16):1438-1442

		                        			OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the diagnosis, therapy and prognosis of the rare cases of malignant tumors in external auditory canal.

		                        			METHOD:
Eight cases of rare malignant tumors in external auditory canal were collected except squamous cell carcinoma and adenoid cystic carcinoma. The clinical manifestation, staging, surgical method, secondary treatment and prognosis were analysed.

		                        			RESULT:
There were 5 cases of basal cell carcinoma and 2 cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma and 1 case of myoepithelial carcinoma. Three cases of the 5 basal cell carcinoma in external auditory canal have been misdiagnosed for a long time. After admission, 4 of the 5 basal cell carcinoma were T1 stage and cured only by a complete resection of tumor. One case of T2 stage basal cell carcinoma was found recurrence 2 years later after the first excision of tumor, and was treated with radiotherapy. Tumor was controlled. Two cases of mucoepidermoid carcinoma had been misdiagnosed as a benign tumor and received a resection. One case was found metastasis to the parapharyngeal space and nasopharynx and was treated with concurrent chemotherapy. Tumor was also controlled after 5-years follow-up. Another case was found metastasis to parotid gland and received an expanding tumor resection. No recurrence was detected after a 1-year followed up. One case of T4 stage myoepithelial carcinoma in external auditory canal was a metastasis of parotid and received a partial temporal bone resection. No-recurrence was found 1 year later.

		                        			CONCLUSION
Because the tumors above have a very low incidence in external ear canal and the location of tumors are hidden, they are often misdiagnosed and delayed in treatment. Therefore, otologists should pay more attention to avoid the misdiagnosis. To the treatment, complete surgical resection of early-stage tumor is important and for late-stage tumor, a supplemented by chemoradiotherapy may be needed.

		                        			OBJECTIVE:
To study our experiences on deep lobe tumor parotidectomy with preservation of the superficial lobe of the parotid gland.

		                        			METHOD:
Eleven cases of benign tumor in the deep lobe of the parotid gland were analyzed restrospectively. Tumour recurrence, Frey's syndrome, paralysis of facial nerve, salivary fistula, dry mouth and feeling around the auricular lobule were evaluated.

		                        			RESULT:
Numbness around the auricular lobule appeared in 2 cases and salivary fistula appeared in 1 case, transient facial paralysis in 1 case. There were no patients appeared Frey's syndrome, dry mouth, permanent facial paralysis and recurrence in the 1-3 years followed up time.

		                        			CONCLUSION
Deep lobe tumor parotidectomy with preservation of the superficial lobe improves the cosmetics and the feeling around the auricular lobule, reduces the incidence rate of Frey's syndrome, facial paralysis and dry mouth.

		                        			OBJECTIVE:
To assess the effect for local sensory to preserve great auricular nerve in the parotidectomy.

		                        			METHOD:
It was a prospective study. Eighy-one patients who underwent parotidectomy were randomly divided into 2 groups, preserving the great auricular nerve group and no preserving the great auricular nerve group. They were tested with the subjective and objective sensory function testing in 3, 6, 9, 12 months after operation. We assessed the result.

		                        			RESULT:
In the subjective sensory function testing, the result of the preserving the great auricular nerve group was better than no preserving the great auricular nerve group. In the objective sensory function testing, the result of the preserving the great auricular nerve group was obviously better than no preserving the great auricular nerve group. There was significant difference between the 2 groups (P<0.05).

		                        			CONCLUSION
It was effective for recovering the sensory function that we preserved the great auricular nerve in the parotidectomy.
