Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(3):394-397
Objective:
To investigate the prevalence of anxiety symptoms among high grade primary school students in Guangzhou and their correlation with family functioning and parental parenting styles, so as to provide theoretical basis and guidance for family based interventions for children s anxiety symptoms.
Methods:
From June to September 2022, a multi stage cluster random sampling method was employed to select 5 396 students from grades 4 to 6 in 13 primary schools in Guangzhou. The Family Functioning Assessment Scale for Children, Parental Bonding Instrument, and Spence Children s Anxiety Scale Short Version were used for the survey. Inter group comparison was analysed by t test or analysis of variance. Linear regression analysis was used to explore the effects of family function and parental parenting styles on anxiety symptoms in primary school students.
Results:
The average score for anxiety symptoms among high grade primary school students in Guangzhou was (11.63±10.88). In terms of parenting styles, mothers scored higher than fathers in the dimensions of "care" (25.63±4.92) and "control" (5.08±2.58) compared to fathers ( 24.74± 5.50, 5.00±2.51) ( t =15.80, 4.21, P <0.01). However, there was no statistically significant difference in the scores of parents on the dimension of "encouragement of independence"(12.98±4.06,13.05±3.95)( t =-1.77, P >0.05). After adjusting for general demographic characteristics, the results of linear regression analysis showed that primary school students family functioning ( B =0.47) and parental "control" ( B =0.67, 0.75) were positively associated with anxiety symptoms scores ( P <0.01). Meanwhile, parental "care" ( B =-0.53,-0.55) and "encouragement of independence" ( B =-0.62,-0.68) were negatively associated with anxiety symptom scores ( P <0.01). These associations remained statistically significant even after further adjusting for family functioning ( P <0.01).
Conclusions
Family functioning, parenting styles are closely associated with anxiety symptoms among high grade primary school students. Positive family functioning and parenting styles may mitigate childhood anxiety symptoms, whereas excessive parental control may increase the risk of childhood anxiety symptoms.

ObjectiveTo observe the lower limb muscle activation strategy of healthy middle-aged and old women during stair ascent and descent with surface electromyography. MethodsFrom August, 2021 to February, 2022, 20 healthy middle-aged and old women were measured the surface electromyography root mean square (RMS) and integrated electromyography (iEMG) of bilateral vastus lateral, rectus femoris, vastus medialis, biceps femoris and semitendinosus during stair ascent and descent, and co-contraction ratio was calculated. ResultsDuring stair ascent, the RMS of bilateral vastus lateral, rectus femoris and vastus medialis was higher at starting stage than at following stage (|t| > 6.650, P < 0.001), while the RMS of biceps femoris and semitendinosus was lower (t > 3.559, P < 0.01); and the co-contraction ratio of hamstrings/quadriceps was lower at starting stage than at following stage (t > 8.185, P < 0.001). During stair descent, the RMS of bilateral vastus lateral, vastus medialis, biceps femoris and semitendinosus was higher at following stage than at starting stage (t > 2.345, P < 0.05), as well as the co-contraction ratio of hamstrings/quadriceps (t > 2.405, P < 0.05). ConclusionThe activities of the muscles around the knees are almost symmetrical during stair ascent and descent for healthy middle-aged and old women. The activation and co-contraction ratio of quadriceps and hamstring are various at starting/following stages.

AIM: To provide reference for clinical application of warfarin PPK/PD model, the prediction accuracy of warfarin PPK/PD model and 6 dose models established by multiple linear regression were compared. METHODS: Clinical data of inpatients who took warfarin tablets for oral anticoagulant therapy in our hospital were collected, and the predictive values were simulated by PPK/PD model and other 6 models, respectively. SPSS 23.0 software was used for paired t-test of measured value and predicted value. MAE and percentage of prediction deviation were used to evaluate the results, and the prediction deviation box-plot was drawn to compare the total data, different dose groups and different genotypes. RESULTS: A total of 50 patients were included in the study. Among 7 models, only PPK/PD model, Wen et al., and Du Liping et al.'s model had no statistical difference in predicted values and measured values (P>0.05). The prediction accuracy of PPK/PD model was higher among the total data, low and medium doses, and patients with different genotypes. The prediction accuracy of Wen et al. 's model and Li Chuanbao et al.'s model was higher in the high-dose group. CONCLUSION: The PPK/PD model of warfarin has good clinical prediction performance, which is expected to provide reference for accurate administration of warfarin.

Objective:To explore the medical costs and influencing factors of patients diagnosed with Brucellosis in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang). Methods:Information on demographics, medical visits, and costs of patients diagnosed with Brucellosis were collected between January 1,2017 and December 31,2019. The effects of different genders, age groups, clinical stages, and comorbidities on patients' health care utilization and medical costs were analyzed by nonparametric tests. The median was used to describe the outpatient and inpatient costs of patients with Brucellosis. Results:A total of 13 532 patients (8 113 outpatient and 5 419 inpatient cases) were included in the analysis. A total of 67.8% (9 176/13 532) were male, with an average age of (42.7±15.4 ) years; age between 18-44 years (46.6%, 6 304/13 532) and 45-59 years (34.2%,4 622/13 532) were the dominant groups. The mean age of inpatients [(43.3±15.7) years] was higher than that of outpatients [(42.3±15.1) years, Z=-3.85, P<0.001]. When hospitalized patients are treated, systemic symptoms were common with fever (36.9%, 1 997/5 419) and fatigue (36.6%, 1 983/5 419), and with joint/muscle pain (68.9%, 3 735/5 419) being the highest proportion of local symptoms. A total of 79.1% (4 289/5 419) of inpatients were diagnosed with acute Brucellosis. A total of 46.5% (2 519/5 419) of inpatients had complications;skeletal system complications ranked the highest. The average number of outpatient visits per outpatient was (1.6±1.4) times. The duration of hospitalization was (11.3±4.2) days, with longer days for patients in the chronic phase and with complications ( P<0.05). A total of 89.3% (4 840/5 419) of inpatients had outpatient records in the same year, and the average number of outpatient visits per patient was (3.6±2.6) times. Outpatient medical costs were dominated by laboratory and drug costs (75.1%), and inpatient costs were dominated by drug, laboratory, and other costs (74.4%). Outpatient medical expenses M( Q1, Q3) were 61(52, 497) Yuan, 61 (51, 346) Yuan and 58 (46, 318) Yuan, respectively. Inpatients' medical expenses M ( Q1, Q3) were 8 214 (6 355, 10 721) Yuan,9 095 (7 018, 12 155) Yuan and 9 492 (7 530, 12 351) Yuan, respectively. For patients, age, clinical stages, complications, and joint/muscle pain symptoms were influential factors for hospitalization costs ( P<0.001). Conclusions:The economic burden was higher for inpatients, especially those in the high age group, with chronic phases and skeletal and neurological complications. Improving patients' awareness of early treatment, standardized treatment, and reducing chronicity and complications are the main points in reducing the economic burden caused by Brucellosis diagnosis and treatment.

Ovulatory dysfunction refers to absent ovulation or luteal insufficiency. It is commonly seen in women with irregular menstruation or menstrual cycles, especially in those with oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea. Ovulatory dysfunction is considered the single-most frequent cause of female infertility. Clinically, the two major causes of ovulatory dysfunction are polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome (LUFS). Acupuncture-moxibustion improves ovulation and helps with infertility. Through a systematic review and analysis on relevant literatures in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture-moxibustion Databankover the last decade, this paper summarized the characteristics and pattern of acupuncture-moxibustion points for improving ovulation in order to provide an optimal acupuncture-moxibustion protocol in this regard.

Objective: To analyze and review the clinical efficacy of acupuncture (including electroacupuncture) alone for allergic rhinitis (AR) and to compare its efficacy with antihistamines and Chinese patent medicineBi Yan Kang Tablet. Methods: The search strategy, inclusion and exclusion criteria were made according to the principle of evidence-based medicine. We performed a systematic search on China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Academic Journal Full-text Database (Wanfang), Chongqing VIP Database (CQVIP), Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), PubMed, Excerpta Medica Database (EMBASE), Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of acupuncture for allergic rhinitis between January 1990 and December 2015. The quality was evaluated by Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions Version 5.1, and the meta-analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.3 version. Results: Twenty eligible RCTs were included into the meta-analysis after selection. Compared with antihistamines, the meta-analysis showed RR=1.24>1, 95%CI[1.15, 1.33],P<0.00001, indicating that acupuncture achieved a better total effective rate for AR than antihistamines; MD=–0.93<0, 95%CI[–1.22, –0.63],P<0.00001, indicating that acupuncture is better than antihistamines in decreasing the total nasal symptom score (TNSS) in AR patients; and MD=1.46>0, 95%CI[–10.84, 13.75],P=0.82, indicating that there was no statistical difference between acupuncture and antihistamines in regulating immunoglobulin E (IgE) in AR patients. Compared withBi Yan Kang Tablet, the meta-analysis has shown RR=1.50>1, 95%CI[1.30, 1.73],P<0.00001, indicating that acupuncture achieved a better total effective rate for AR than Chinese patent medicineBi Yan KangTablet. Conclusion: Acupuncture alone can achieve a better total effective rate for AR than antihistamines andBi Yan Kang Tablet. It is also better than antihistamines in improving clinical symptom scores; however, whether acupuncture is better thanBi Yan KangTablet needs further proof. As far as current data are concerned, there was no statistical difference between acupuncture and antihistamines in improving serum IgE; further study is needed in this regard. The risk of bias due to absent randomization methods or blinding implementation decreased the evidence level of the overall conclusion.

Objective To synthesize a new kind of acid-sensitive doxorubicin prodrug nanoparticles and to evaluate its anti-brain glioma effect and efficiency through blood-brain barrier (BBB). Methods The prodrug acid-sensitive poly-ethylene glycol (PEG)-doxorubicin (PEG-DOX) copolymer was synthesized by Schiff base reaction, and PEG-DOX pro-drug nanoparticles (PEG-DOX NPs) were prepared by self-assembling. The character of PEG-DOX copolymer was detected by dynamic light scattering (DLS) instrument and 1H NMR. The morphology of PEG-DOX NPs was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The character of drug release was detected by UV mothed. The cellular uptake efficiency of glio-ma cells to PEG-DOX NPs was observed by inverted fluorescence microscope. The anti-brain glioma effects of PEG-DOX NPs and Free DOX were studied by MTT mothed. PS80-PEG-DOX NPs were gained by the modification of PEG-DOX NPs with Tween 80. Nine BALB/c mice were separated into Free DOX, PEG-DOX NPs and PS80-PEG-DOX NPs groups by ran-dom drawing lots. The mean fluorescence intensity of brain and main organs were observed by in vivo imaging system. Re-sults The copolymer of PEG-DOX can self-assemble into nanoparticles with the diameter of 100 nm. PEG-DOX NPs can quickly release DOX in acid environment. Although PEG-DOX NPs had slow cancer cell uptake than Free DOX, it had lon-ger accumulation. MTT results showed that PEG-DOX NPs had concentration dependent anti-brain glioma effect. Indepen-dent samples t-test indicated that the efficiency through BBB was significantly higher in PS80-PEG-DOX NPs group than that of Free DOX group and PEG-DOX NPs group. Conclusion PEG-DOX NPs show well anti-brain glioma effect in vi-tro, and can across BBB with high efficiency after modification, which make it possible for a potential therapeutic prodrug for brain glioma.
