Chinese medicinal materials serve as the material foundation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture. The sustainable development of Chinese medicinal material resources is a focal point in the modernization of TCM. With the increasing scarcity of Chinese medicinal material resources, the expansion of new Chinese medicinal material resources has become a crucial means for the sustainable utilization of these resources. New Chinese medicinal material resources refer to natural resources that have been newly discovered or developed, possessing potential medicinal value or healthcare functions, which fall outside the traditional application scope of herbal medicines. These resources have not yet been widely recognized or applied within the framework of traditional TCM theory. They specifically include artificial substitutes for endangered medicinal materials, new medicinal parts of medicinal plants, medicinal materials with expanded clinical applications, and foreign medicinal resources. The rational compatability and formulation of new Chinese medicinal material resources are essential pathways for integrating them into the TCM system. Due to the weak foundational research on new Chinese medicinal material resources in China, the characteristics of these resources that align with the TCM theory are not yet fully understood, posing numerous constraints on formulating prescriptions based on the traditional compatibility principles of TCM. This paper integrates the traditional formulation theory of TCM with modern data integration methods, proposing four formulation models for new TCM resources: synergistic compatibility, substitutive compatibility, symptom-based compatibility, and efficacy semantic compatibility. These models provide new insights for the application of new Chinese medicinal material resources, not only facilitating their rational use in clinical practice but also offering theoretical support for the development and compatibility research of these resources.

Objective To evaluate the accuracies of two-dimensional ultrasound(2D-US)and three-dimensional ultrasound virtual organ computer-aided analysis(3D-VOCAL)in measuring uterine myoma volume(UMV).Methods Forty-five patients who underwent surgical treatment for uterine myoma at Longyan First Hospital,Fujian Medical University from October 2022 to April 2023 were selected.Preoperative measurements of UMV were performed using 2D-US and 3D-VOCAL,and the measurement results were compared with the actual UMV after surgical resection to assess the accuracies and repeatabilities of the two ultrasound techniques in measuring UMV.Results The UMV measurement consistency of 3D-VOCAL(ICC=0.992)was higher than that of 2D-US(ICC=0.976),and the ICC values of 3D-VOCAL were higher than those of 2D-US in UM of different sizes(all P<0.001).Statistically significant differences among 2D-US,3D-VOCAL and postoperative measurement results was found in UM with a maximum diameter≥8 cm(P<0.05),but not in UMV and UM with a maximum diameter<8 cm(P>0.05),and the further analysis showed that in UM with a maximum diameter≥8 cm,the UMV measured by 2D-US differed from postoperative measurement results(P<0.05).The differences between 3D-VOCAL measurement results and postoperative measurement results were trivial(P>0.05).There were greater intra-and interobserver agreements by 3D-VOCAL than 2D-US in UMV measurement. Conclusion 3D-VOCAL which is superior to 2D-US in preoperative UMV measurement is a simple, efficient, and reliable method, and it can provide theoretical bases for clinical follow-up.

Objective To evaluate the changes in natural Killer (NK) cell subsets definetd by CD11b and CD27 in the spleen of septic mice. Methods A total of 168 pathogen-free healthy male C57BL/6 mice, weighing 20-30 g,aged 8-10 weeks, were divided into 2 groups (n=84 cach) using a random number table:sham operation group (Sham group) and sepsis group (Sep group).Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture in chloral hydrate-anesthetized mice.Thirty mice in each group were selected to assess the survival within 4 days after operation, and the survival rate was calculated. At 2,4,6,24,48 and 72 h after operation (T1-6),6 mice were randomly selected, and blood samples were taken from the eyeballs for determination of serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha and interleukin-10 concentrations by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Six mice were randomly selected at T4-6 and sacrificed, and the spleens were removed for measurement of the percentage of NK cells and their subsets by flow cytometry. Results Compared with Sham group, the survival rate was significantly decreased at different time points, the serum necrosis factor-alpha concentration at T1-3,6 and serum interleukin-10 concentration at T3-6 were increased, the percentage of NK cells was decreased at T4-6,the percentage of CD27-CD11b+NK cells was decreased and the percentage of CD27+CD11b+ and CD27+CD11b-NK cells was increased at T5,the percentage of CD27-CD11b-NK ceils was decreased at T4,5,and the percentage of CD27-CD11b-NK cells was increased at T6 in Sep group (P<0.05).Conclusion Changes in NK cell subsets defined by CD11b and CD27 in the spleen play an important role in the development of sepsis in mice.

Objective To investigate the prevalence and severity degree of post traumatic stress disorder(PTSD), anxiety and depression, and to explore the different mental profile in different groups involved with an earthquake. Methods 26 days after 8.0 grade earthquake in Wenchuan, psychological rescue team of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine went to some communities in Deyang and Mianzhu area of Sichuan province. In this period, a total of 119 survivors, including students(42), teacher(40) and masses(37), were investigated through impact of event scale (IES), self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS). Results①The detection rate of score over 19 in IES in 3 groups (students, teacher and masses) were 69%, 80% and 91.9%, respectively. There was significant difference among these 3 groups (F=5.611, P=0.005<0.01) in respect of severity degree of PTSD. ②The values of severity degree of anxiety in 3 groups were significant higher than normal value (P<0.001, all). There was also significant difference among these 3 groups (F=3.376, P=0.038<0.05) in respect of severity degree of anxiety, with the masses group being significant higher than student and teacher group (P=0.029, P=0.022, respectively). ③The values of severity degree of depression in these 3 groups were significant higher than normal value (P<0.05, all). But there was no significant difference (F= 0.670, P=0.514) among these 3 groups. ConclusionThe results suggested the importance to assess PTSD, anxiety and depression in post-disaster area, especially PTSD and anxiety evaluations in the masses group.
