Objective: This cross-sectional investigation aimed to determine the incidence, clinical characteristics, prognosis, and related risk factors of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strain in mainland China. Methods: Data of patients with SARS-CoV-2 from December 28, 2022, to February 21, 2023, were collected through online and offline questionnaires from 45 tertiary hospitals and one center for disease control and prevention in mainland China. The questionnaire included demographic information, previous health history, smoking and alcohol drinking, SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, olfactory and gustatory function before and after infection, other symptoms after infection, as well as the duration and improvement of olfactory and gustatory dysfunction. The self-reported olfactory and gustatory functions of patients were evaluated using the Olfactory VAS scale and Gustatory VAS scale. Results: A total of 35 566 valid questionnaires were obtained, revealing a high incidence of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strain (67.75%). Females(χ2=367.013, P<0.001) and young people(χ2=120.210, P<0.001) were more likely to develop these dysfunctions. Gender(OR=1.564, 95%CI: 1.487-1.645), SARS-CoV-2 vaccination status (OR=1.334, 95%CI: 1.164-1.530), oral health status (OR=0.881, 95%CI: 0.839-0.926), smoking history (OR=1.152, 95%CI=1.080-1.229), and drinking history (OR=0.854, 95%CI: 0.785-0.928) were correlated with the occurrence of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to SARS-CoV-2(above P<0.001). 44.62% (4 391/9 840) of the patients who had not recovered their sense of smell and taste also suffered from nasal congestion, runny nose, and 32.62% (3 210/9 840) suffered from dry mouth and sore throat. The improvement of olfactory and taste functions was correlated with the persistence of accompanying symptoms(χ2=10.873, P=0.001). The average score of olfactory and taste VAS scale was 8.41 and 8.51 respectively before SARS-CoV-2 infection, but decreased to3.69 and 4.29 respectively after SARS-CoV-2 infection, and recovered to 5.83and 6.55 respectively at the time of the survey. The median duration of olfactory and gustatory dysfunctions was 15 days and 12 days, respectively, with 0.5% (121/24 096) of patients experiencing these dysfunctions for more than 28 days. The overall self-reported improvement rate of smell and taste dysfunctions was 59.16% (14 256/24 096). Gender(OR=0.893, 95%CI: 0.839-0.951), SARS-CoV-2 vaccination status (OR=1.334, 95%CI: 1.164-1.530), history of head and facial trauma(OR=1.180, 95%CI: 1.036-1.344, P=0.013), nose (OR=1.104, 95%CI: 1.042-1.171, P=0.001) and oral (OR=1.162, 95%CI: 1.096-1.233) health status, smoking history(OR=0.765, 95%CI: 0.709-0.825), and the persistence of accompanying symptoms (OR=0.359, 95%CI: 0.332-0.388) were correlated with the recovery of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to SARS-CoV-2 (above P<0.001 except for the indicated values). Conclusion: The incidence of olfactory and taste dysfunctions related to infection with the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron strain is high in mainland China, with females and young people more likely to develop these dysfunctions. Active and effective intervention measures may be required for cases that persist for a long time. The recovery of olfactory and taste functions is influenced by several factors, including gender, SARS-CoV-2 vaccination status, history of head and facial trauma, nasal and oral health status, smoking history, and persistence of accompanying symptoms.

ObjectiveTo investigate the diagnostic value of peripheral blood circulating tumor cells (CTC)and three tumor markers in stage I endometrial carcinoma (EC), so as to provide a scientific basis for finding a noninvasive early diagnosis method of EC. MethodsFrom May 2016 to November 2021, 335 healthy female physical examinees (control group), 291 patients with benign endometrial lesions (benign lesion group) and 268 patients with stage I EC (EC group) were selected as the research subjects. Samples of 3.2 mL cephalic vein blood were taken from the three groups of subjects composed of the physical examinees and patients before operation. The CTC level was measured by immunofluorescence hybridization and staining. The levels of SAA were measured by latex enhanced immunoturbidimetry, and HE4 and CA125 were measured by electrochemiluminescence. The positive rates and level differences of CTC, SAA, HE4 and CA125 in the three groups were observed. The sensitivity, specificity, coincidence rate, positive predictive value, negative predictive value of CTC, SAA, HE4, CA125, (SAA+HE4+CA125), (CTC+SAA+HE4+CA125) in the diagnosis of stage I EC were compared Difference between yoden index and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve area (AUC). Results①The positive rates of CTC, SAA, HE4, CA125, (SAA+HE4+CA125), (CTC+SAA+HE4+CA125) in EC group were higher than those in control group and benign lesion group (P<0.01). In the benign lesion group, the positive rate of (CTC+HE4+SAA+CA125) was higher than that of other detection indexes. Compared with HE4 and CTC, the difference was statistically significant(χ2=8.58,P=0.003;χ2=33.26, P<0.001). In EC group, the positive rate of (CTC+HE4+SAA+CA125) was higher than that of other detection indexes. Compared with CTC, SAA, HE4, CA125, (SAA+HE4+CA125), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.001). ②The expression levels of CTC, SAA, HE4 and CA125 in EC group were the highest, which was statistically significant compared with the control group and benign lesion group (P<0.001). ③(CTC+SAA+HE4+CA125) had the highest sensitivity and coincidence rate, negative predictive value and Jordan index. ④The AUC detected by CTC, SAA, HE4, CA125, (SAA+HE4+CA125), (CTC+SAA+HE4+CA125) were 0.86, 0.81, 0.75, 0.78, 0.82 and 0.95, respectively. Conclusions(CTC+SAA+HE4+CA125) detection has high sensitivity, coincidence rate, negative predictive value, Jordan index and large AUC for the diagnosis of stage I EC. It is a better combination model for the diagnosis of early EC.

Objective:
To evaluate the safety and clinical efficiency of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) in the treatment of small-volume BPH (SBPH) complicated by severe lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
METHODS:
We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data on 82 cases of SBPH with severe LUTS treated by HoLEP from January 2017 to December 2018. The patients were aged (65.5 ± 7.6) years, with a mean prostate volume of <40 ml, a total IPSS of 24.8 ± 4.6, a QOL score of 5.2 ± 0.8, the maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax) of (7.6 ± 3.7) ml/s, and a mean PSA level of (1.8 ± 1.4) μg/L.
RESULTS:
All the operations were successfully completed, the mean operation time averaging (30.2 ± 5.0) min, enucleation time (26.7 ± 5.6) min and comminution time (3.5 ± 1.1) min, and the enucleated tissue weighing (20.3 ± 4.9) g. After surgery, the bladders were irrigated for (3.5 ± 1.9) h, with (3.0 ± 1.7) L of rinse solution, and catheterization lasted (24.8 ± 9.7) h. Histopathology revealed moderate or severe lymphocytic infiltration in 69 cases (84.1%). At 6 months after operation, significant improvement was observed in the IPSS, QOL, Qmax and PSA level compared with the baseline (P < 0.05). To date, no urethral stricture-related reoperation was ever necessitated.
CONCLUSIONS
HoLEP is safe and effective for the treatment of SBPH complicated by severe LUTS and can be employed after adequate preoperative evaluation of the patient.《.

Objective There are few large sample data reports of comparative study on genotype distribution of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in the tissues of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma in China. This study aimed to investigate the clinical value of genotype distribution of HPV infection in the tissues of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma in regional (mainly in Jiangsu Province) patients. Methods We collected 1044 paraffin tissue specimens of female cervical squamous cell carcinoma (826 cases) and cervical adenocarcinoma (218 cases) in 29 hospitals from November 1978 to December 2017. HPV DNA was extracted from the tissues and through the combination of gene-chip and polymerase chain reaction technology, 23 genotypes of HPV were detected in all the tissues of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma, and comparative study was conducted on the genotype distribution of HPV infection. Results Among 1044 cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma, 901 were found with HPV and the detection rate was 86.30%. The detection rate of cervical squamous cell carcinoma was 91.53% (756/826), among which 16,18,58,33,52,31 types were the most common and the detection rate of 16 type was significantly higher than that of 18 types (56.84% vs 9.93%, P<0.05). The detection rate of cervical adenocarcinoma was 66.51% (145/218), among which 16,18,31,33,52,58 types were the most common, and the detection rates of 16 type and 18 type was of no significant (35.29% vs 32.35%, P>0.05).Conclusion The HPV detection rates are different in the regional female cervical squamous cell carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma tissues. 16,18,31,33,52 and 58 types are the most common genotypes in cervical squamous cell carcinoma and cervical adenocarcinoma. The detection rate of 16 type is overly higher than that of 18 type in cervical squamous cell carcinoma, while the detection rates of 16 type and 18 type in cervical adenocarcinoma are very close.

Selaginella tamariscina is a typical resuscitation medicinal plant with extreme drought tolerance. Trehalose plays an important role in the resurrection process, and the trehalose-6-phosphate synthase(TPS) is the key enzyme to synthesize trehalose in plants. In this study, the sequence of TPS was obtained by splicing from the transcriptome data of S. tamariscina. After the synthesis of cDNA based on the template of total RNA, the sequence was cloned by RT-PCR for verification and then analyzed by bioinformatics methods. The results indicated that the full-length coding sequence of StTPS was 2 799 bp (GenBank accession no. MH155231), and the encoded protein contained 932 amino acids. StTPS could be located in the chloroplastid according to subcellular localization prediction. There were two conserved domains belonging to glycogen phosphorylase glycosyltransferase (GPGTF) family but no signal peptide or transmembrane domain in StTPS. The expression of StTPS was determined by qRT-PCR and the variation of trehalose content was measured by HPLC-ELSD during the resurrection process of S. tamariscina. Meanwhile, the correlation between them was analyzed. The results showed that both the expression level of StTPS and the trehalose content increased associated with the extension of dehydration time, and declined associated with the extension of rehydration time which proved a significant positive correlation between the StTPS expression level and the trehalose content. The results suggested that the StTPS probably plays a central role in recovery process in S. tamariscina.

Panax quinquefolium and Panax ginseng were investigated using non-linear chemical fingerprint technology, and a novel method to identify two ginsengs and different producing areas of P. quinquefolium was put forward. The non-linear chemical fingerprints of P. quinquefolium(collected from Canada, Jilin and Shaanxi)and P. ginseng (collected from Jilin)were obtained by reactions took place in the system of "H2SO4-MnSO4-CH3COCH3-NaBrO3" and their system similarities were evaluated. In the meantime, the quality difference in P. quinquefolium from different producing areas was evaluated using HPLC to determine the contents of main 7 ginsenosides. As a result, the non-linear chemical fingerprints exhibited a good reproducibility and characteristic when dosage of detection was 0.4 g and the reaction temperature was 37 ℃. The fingerprint characteristics of P. quinquefolium were obviously different from P. ginseng. The two species of ginsengs could be distinguished by the visual fingerprint characteristics, and P. quinquefolium from different producing areas were identified by the system similarities. Furthermore, HPLC analysis showed that the quality P. quinquefolium from different producing areas was varied, which indicated that rapid identification and quality evaluation of P. quinquefolium become very important and necessary. Compared with HPLC technology, non-linear chemical fingerprint is a more convenient, rapid and economic technology. This study provides a novel strategy to distinguish and evaluate P. quinquefolium and P. ginseng, which will provide a reference for the quality evaluation and control of Chinese medicine.

BACKGROUNDHigh cost of imported pacemakers is a main obstacle for Chinese patients suffering from bradyarrhythmia, and a domestically developed pacemaker will help lower the burden. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of Qinming8631 DR (Qinming Medical, Baoji, China), the first domestically developed dual-chamber pacemaker of China, compared with a commercially available pacemaker Talos DR (Biotronik, Berlin, Germany) in Chinese patients.
METHODSA prospective randomized trial was conducted at 14 centers in China. Participants were randomized into trial (Qinming8631 DR) and control (Talos DR) groups. Parameters of the pacing systems were collected immediately after device implantation and during follow-ups. The effective pacing rate at 6-month follow-up was recorded as the primary end point. Electrical properties, magnet response, single- and double-pole polarity conversion, rate response function, and adverse events of the pacing system were analyzed. The Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel Chi-square test, paired t-test, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used for measuring primary qualitative outcomes and comparing normally and abnormally distributed measurement data.
RESULTSA total of 225 patients with a diagnosis of bradyarrhythmia and eligible for this study were randomly enrolled into the trial (n = 113) and control (n = 112) groups. They underwent successful pacemaker implantation with acceptable postoperative pacing threshold and sensitivity. Effective pacing rates of trial and control groups were comparable both in the full analysis set and the per protocol set (81.4% vs. 79.5%, P = 0.712 and 95.4% vs. 89.5%, P = 0.143, respectively). In both data sets, noninferiority of the trial group was above the predefined noninferiority limit(-9.5%).
CONCLUSIONSThis study established the noninferiority of Qinming8631 DR to Talos DR. The safety and efficacy of Qinming8631 DR pacemaker were comparable to those of Talos DR in treating patients with cardiac bradyarrhythmia.

This study was purposed to observe the influence of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSC) on the peripheral blood CD4(+)CD25(+)regulatory T cells (Treg), Th17 cells and neutrophils in rats with collagen type II-induced arthritis(CIA), and to explore the regulating effect of UC-MSC transplantation on immunocyte subgroup. The rats wee divided into 3 groups: CIA group (model group), UC-MSC treated group and blank control group. The CIA rats were injected with UC-MSC via tail vein. The percentage of CD4(+)CD25(+) cells in peripheral blood and the expression of NCD11b on neutrophil surface in CIA rates was detected by flow cytometry (FCM), and the serum interleukin-17 (IL-17) was observed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The results showed that the mean fluorescence intensity(MFI) of NCD11b and the level of IL-17 in the model group were significantly higher than those in the blank control group, and the ratio of CD4(+)CD25(+) cells were significantly lower (P < 0.05). The MIF of NCD11b and the level of IL-17 in the UC-MSC treated group were significantly lower than that in the model group (P < 0.05), while the proportion of CD4(+)CD25(+) Treg increased (P < 0.05). Since the fifth week, the above indicators in the UC-MSC group have almostly approached the control group. It is concluded that the UC-MSC can increase peripheral blood Treg proportion in CIA rat, inhibit the secretion of Th17 and the activity of neutrophils, reduce the immune inflammation reaction, decrease the release of proinflammatory factor, and induce immune reconstruction.
