1.Overview and implications of the cohort construction for autism spectrum disorders based on Internet recruitment

		                        			Abstract
		                        			The construction of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) specialty cohorts in China is still in its infancy, and the cost effectiveness is insufficient when relying on diagnostic and treatment processes of child health care to collect ample and high quality data. After 2000, the United States Simons Foundation s ASD Research Initiative, the Early ASD Risk Longitudinal Investigation (EARLI), and the British ASD Study of Infant Siblings (BASIS), which have been built based on Internet recruitment, have provided new insight for the construction of large sample ASD specialty cohorts in China. Future research can further explore and optimize the methods of Internet recruitment, and establish a more comprehensive and accurate ASD specialty cohorts.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
2.Anatomical Importance Between Neural Structure and Bony Landmark in Neuroventral Decompression for Posterior Endoscopic Cervical Discectomy

		                        			This study aims to investigate the anatomical relationship among the nerve roots, intervertebral space, pedicles, and intradural rootlets of the cervical spine for improving operative outcomes and exploring neuroventral decompression approach in posterior endoscopic cervical discectomy (PECD). 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			Cervical computed tomography myelography imaging data from January 2021 to May 2023 were collected, and the RadiAnt DICOM Viewer Software was employed to conduct multiplane reconstruction. The following parameters were recorded: width of nerve root (WN), nerve root-superior pedicle distance (NSPD), nerve root-inferior pedicle distance (NIPD), and the relationship between the intervertebral space and the nerve root (shoulder, anterior, and axillary). Additionally, the descending angles between the spinal cord and the ventral (VRA) and dorsal (DRA) rootlets were measured. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			The WN showed a gradual increase from C4 to C7, with measurements notably larger in men compared to women. The NSPD decreased gradually from the C2–3 to the C5–6 levels. However, the NIPD showed an opposite level-related change, notably larger than the NSPD at the C4–5, C5–6, and C7–T1 levels. Furthermore, significant differences in NIPD were observed between different age groups and genders. The incidence of the anterior type exhibited a gradual decrease from the C2–3 to the C5–6 levels. Conversely, the axillary type exhibited an opposite level-related change. Additionally, the VRA and DRA decreased as the level descended, with measurements significantly larger in females. 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			A prediction of the positional relationship between the intervertebral space and the nerve root is essential for the direct neuroventral decompression in PECD to avoid damaging the neural structures. 3.Integrated Optical and Magnetic Navigation for Simplified Percutaneous Transforaminal Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy: A Novel Approach

		                        			This study aims to evaluate the clinical benefits of the integrated optical and magnetic surgical navigation system in assisting transforaminal endoscopic lumbar discectomy (TELD) for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation (LDH). 
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who underwent TELD for LDH at Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University from November 2022 to December 2023. Patients treated with the integrated optical and magnetic surgical navigation system were defined as the navigation-guided TELD (Ng-TELD) group (30 cases), while those treated with the conventional x-ray fluoroscopy method were defined as the control group (31 cases). Record and compare baseline characteristics, surgical parameters, efficacy indicators, and adverse events between the 2 patient groups. 
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			The average follow-up duration for the 61 patients was 11.8 months. Postoperatively, both groups exhibited significant relief from back and leg pain, which continued to improve over time. At the final follow-up, patients’ lumbar function and quality of life had significantly improved compared to preoperative levels (p < 0.05). The Ng-TELD group had significantly shorter total operation time (58.43 ± 12.37 minutes vs. 83.23 ± 25.90 minutes), catheter placement time (5.83 ± 1.09 minutes vs. 15.94 ± 3.00 minutes), decompression time (47.17 ± 11.98 minutes vs. 67.29 ± 24.23 minutes), and fewer intraoperative fluoroscopies (3.20 ± 1.45 vs. 16.58 ± 4.25) compared to the control group (p < 0.05). There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of efficacy evaluation indicators and hospital stay. At the final follow-up, the excellent and good rate of surgical outcomes assessed by the MacNab criteria was 98.4%, and the overall adverse event rate was 8.2%, with no statistically significant differences between the groups (p > 0.05). 
		                        		
		                        			Conclusion
		                        			This study demonstrates that the integrated optical and magnetic surgical navigation system can reduce the complexity of TELD, shorten operation time, and minimize radiation exposure for the surgeon, highlighting its promising clinical potential.

6.A whole genome analysis of two coxsackievirus A2 strains isolated from patients with herpetic angina in Shanghai

		                        			ObjectiveTo understand the whole genome characteristics and the information for genetic evolution in the two coxsackievirus A2 (CVA2) strains isolated from patients with herpangina in Shanghai, and to provide a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of herpetic angina. MethodsTwo CAV2 strains isolated from patients with herpetic angina in Shanghai were performed whole genome sequencing and analysis for phylogenetics, nucleotide homology, and evolution. ResultsA phylogenetic analysis of the VP1 region revealed that the two Shanghai strains both belonged to CVA2 genotype D, with the highest homology to OL357660, a strain from Yunnan. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) of the whole genome between the two Shanghai strains was 98.88%, and the ANI of the whole genome comparisons to other CVA2 genotype D strains and CVA2 genotypes A-C strains ranged from 84.64% to 97.42% and from 79.21% to 84.20%, respectively. The two Shanghai strains had low homology in the 3D region compared to the existing CVA2 strains. The phylogenetic analysis and sliding window nucleotide similarity analysis indicated that the two Shanghai strains and the Yunnan OL357660 strain might constitute a new genetic lineage. ConclusionThe two CVA2 strains isolated for the first time in Shanghai are assigned to genotype D (GenBank: PQ130039 and PQ130040), which is identical to the existing subtype prevalent in China. As represented by the Shanghai strains, a new CVA2 genetic lineage is been identified. This study has enriched the data on genetic evolution and genetic variation of CVA2 in Shanghai, indicating the requirement to strengthen surveillance for the epidemiological pattern of CVA2. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
7.Ultrasonographic characteristics of renal artery involvement in acute Stanford type A aortic dissection and its relationship with renal function: A retrospective cohort study

		                        			Objective  To investigate the ultrasonographic characteristics of acute Stanford type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) involving the renal arteries and their relationship with renal function. Methods  Patients with ATAAD admitted to Deyang People's Hospital from February 2013 to May 2023 were selected for the study. Based on whether the renal arteries were involved in the dissection, the patients were divided into two groups: a renal artery involvement group and a renal artery non-involvement group. General data and ultrasound characteristics of the two groups were compared. Logistic regression analysis and model correction were performed to analyze the relationship between ultrasound characteristics and renal function involvement in ATAAD patients. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to evaluate the predictive value of ultrasound characteristics for renal artery involvement in ATAAD patients. Additionally, patients in the renal artery involvement group were divided into normal renal function and abnormal renal function subgroups based on serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine (Scr) levels. Clinical data of the two subgroups were compared, and a log-binomial model was used to analyze the risk effects of ultrasound characteristics for abnormal renal function. Pearson correlation analysis was performed to assess the correlation between ultrasound characteristics of renal artery involvement and renal function indicators. Results  A total of 163 patients were included, consisting of 106 males and 57 females, with a mean age of (50.06±10.46) years (ranging from 20 to 85 years). Significant differences in gender, Scr, and BUN were observed between the renal artery involvement group and the renal artery non-involvement group (P<0.001). Compared to the renal artery non-involvement group, the renal artery involvement group had an increased ascending aorta diameter, a greater proportion of ascending aortic dilation and poor renal perfusion (P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis indicated that ascending aorta diameter, ascending aortic dilation, and poor renal perfusion were independent factors for renal artery involvement (P<0.05). Ultrasonographic characteristics showed good predictive ability for renal artery involvement in ATAAD patients. Furthermore, the combination of the three characteristics yielded a higher predictive value for renal artery involvement. Compared to the normal renal function group, the abnormal renal function group had higher BUN and Scr levels, increased ascending aortic diameter, a greater proportion of ascending aortic dilation and poor renal perfusion (P<0.05). The log-binomial model analysis revealed that the risk ratios for ascending aortic diameter, ascending aortic dilation, and poor renal perfusion were statistically significant both before and after adjustment (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis revealed that ascending aortic diameter, ascending aortic dilation, and poor renal perfusion were strongly correlated with renal function parameters (P<0.05). Conclusion Ultrasound characteristics of ATAAD involving the renal arteries are associated with renal function. 8.Polygonatum Sibiricum Polysaccharides Improve Colonic Injury in a Mouse Model of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease by Regulating Bile Acid Metabolism in the Colon

		                        			ObjectiveTo investigate the effect and mechanism of Polygonatum neutral polysaccharides from sibiricum (PSP-NP) on colon injury in mice with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). MethodsMale C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into a control group, a COPD model group, and a PSP-NP group. The COPD model was established using smoke exposure combined with intranasal LPS administration. The PSP-NP group was simultaneously treated daily with 200 mg/kg of PSP-NP via intragastric gavage, while the other groups received an equal volume of saline. HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes in the colon. ELISA was employed to detect the levels of LPS in serum and the expressions of ZO-1, Occludin, IL-6, and TNF-α in colon tissue. UPLC-MS was used to detect the types and contents of bile acids in colonic content, and to screen for differential bile acids. Differential microbial flora were identified using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and correlation analysis was conducted with differential bile acids. PSP-NP was combined with the differential bile acids cholic acid (CA), and deoxycholic acid (DCA) in vitro to analyze the binding capacity of PSP-NP for CA and DCA. PSP-NP was applied to NCM460 normal colonic epithelial cells cultured in CA and DCA. Cell migration ability was assessed using the scratch assay, and the mRNA expression levels of inflammatory cytokines TNF-α, IL-6, and NF-κB were measured by RT-qPCR. ResultsPSP-NP effectively improved colonic damage in COPD model mice, enhanced mechanical barrier function, alleviated inflammatory response, and regulated abnormal changes in colonic flora and bile acid metabolism. Correlation analysis further revealed that PSP-NP regulated colonic bile acid metabolism and reduced the redundancy of secondary bile acids by increasing the relative abundance of Bacteroidota, Verrucomicrobiota, Bacteroides, and Akkermansia, while decreasing the relative abundance of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Notably, in vitro binding assays demonstrated that PSP-NP bound to differential bile acids DCA and CA, with the strongest binding capacity for DCA at 58.2%. In cellular functional studies, DCA inhibited the migration ability of colonic epithelial cells NCM460 and significantly increased the relative mRNA expression levels of inflammatory factors TNF-α, IL-6, and NF-κB. Importantly, co-treatment with PSP-NP significantly ameliorated the impact of DCA on NCM460 cells. ConclusionsPSP-NP may significantly improve colonic damage in COPD model mice. The mechanism may involve the regulation of colonic bile acid metabolism and bile acid profiles through both microbial modulation and direct binding, thereby reducing the damage caused by secondary bile acids such as DCA to colonic epithelial cells. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
9.Effect of Shenshu Fujian Decoction on PDGF/NKD2/Wnt Signaling Pathway in Rats with Chronic Renal Failure

		                        			ObjectiveTo observe the effect of Shenshu Fujian decoction on platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF)/naked cuticle homolog 2 (NKD2) /Wnt signaling pathway in rats with chronic renal failure (CRF). MethodsSixty male SD rats were randomly divided into normal group, model group, Niaoduqing group (5 g·kg-1), low-dose Shenshu Fujian decoction group (5.5 g·kg-1), medium-dose Shenshu Fujian decoction group (11 g·kg-1), and high-dose Shenshu Fujian decoction group (22 g·kg-1), with 10 rats in each group. A CRF rat model was established by feeding a 0.5% adenine diet for 21 days. After successful modeling, intragastric administration was given once daily for 28 consecutive days. After treatment, the renal morphology of rats was observed. Serum creatinine (SCr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels were detected. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and Masson staining were used to detect renal histopathological changes, and collagen volume fraction (CVF) was calculated. Serum levels of inflammatory markers interleukin (IL)-1β and IL-6 were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expressions of fibronectin 1 (FN1), type Ⅰ collagen (ColⅠ), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), platelet-derived growth factor receptor-β (PDGFR-β), NKD2, dishevelled protein 2 (DVL2) and β-catenin in renal tissue were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. ResultsCompared with the normal group, the model group showed significant renal pathological changes, a markedly increased kidney weight/body weight ratio (P<0.01), significantly elevated CVF (P<0.01), and notably increased serum levels of SCr, BUN, IL-1β, and IL-6 (P<0.01). Expression levels of FN1, ColⅠ, α-SMA, PDGFR-β, NKD2, DVL2, and β-catenin in renal tissue were also significantly increased (P<0.01). Compared with the model group, all treatment groups showed significantly decreased kidney weight/body weight ratios and CVF (P<0.01), as well as markedly decreased serum SCr, BUN, IL-1β, and IL-6 levels. Protein expression levels of FN1, ColⅠ, α-SMA, PDGFR-β, NKD2, DVL2, and β-catenin in renal tissue were decreased, with more pronounced effects observed in the Niaoduqing, medium-dose, and high-dose Shenshu Fujian decoction groups (P<0.05, P<0.01). ConclusionShenshu Fujian decoction improves renal function, reduces inflammation, and reverses renal fibrosis in CRF rats, possibly by downregulating the expression of PDGF/NKD2/Wnt signaling pathway-related proteins. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
10.Protective effects and mechanisms of sodium pyruvate on storage lesions in human red blood cells

		                        			Objective: To investigate the protective effects and underlying mechanisms of sodium pyruvate (SP) on RBC storage lesions using an oxidative damage model. Methods: Six units of leukocyte-depleted suspended RBCs (discarded for non-infectious reasons within three days post-collection) were randomly assigned to four groups: negative control (NS), positive control (PS), experimental group 1 (SP1), and experimental group 2 (SP2). Oxidative stress was induced in the PS group by the addition of hydrogen peroxide (H

      ), while SP1 and SP2 received SP supplementation at different concentrations (25 mM and 50 mM, respectively) in the presence of H
      O
      . After 1 hour of incubation, RBC morphology was assessed microscopically, and biochemical indicators including glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA), methemoglobin (MetHb), adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and Na
      /K
      -ATPase activity were measured. Results: RBCs in the PS group exhibited pronounced morphological damage, including cell shrinkage and echinocyte formation, whereas both SP-treated groups showed significantly reduced structural injury. SP treatment led to elevated GSH levels and decreased concentrations of MDA and MetHb, suggesting attenuation of oxidative stress. Additionally, SP enhanced intracellular ATP levels and Na
      /K
      -ATPase activity, thereby contributing to membrane stability. Notably, the SP2 group (50 mM) demonstrated superior protective effects compared to SP1 (25 mM). Conclusion: Sodium pyruvate effectively attenuates oxidative storage lesions in RBCs, primarily through its antioxidant properties, energy metabolism supporting ability, and celluar membrane stabilizing function.
