Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(5):684-688
Objective:
To explore the associations of physical activity and sleep quality with anxiety and depressive symptoms in college students, in order to provide empirical support and theoretical guidance for mental health intervention among college students.
Methods:
From March to April 2023, 2 099 college students from universities in 6 different provinces were selected by a convenient sampling method. Physical activity, sleep quality, anxiety and depressive symptoms were evaluated by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form (IPAQSF), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CESD) and the Anxiety SelfRating Scale (SAS), respectively. Descriptive statistics and Logistic regression models were used to analyze the data.
Results:
The reporting rates of lowintensity, moderateintensity, and highintensity physical activity among college students were 30.3%, 45.3%, and 24.4%, respectively. Moreover, among the participants, anxiety was detected in 21.6% and depressive symptoms in 39.9%, while 62.3% experienced poor sleep quality. Compared with males, females exhibited a lower proportion of highintensity physical activity (22.3% vs 42.8%), while reported higher proportions of moderateintensity (48.1% vs 40.8%) and lowintensity physical activity (29.5% vs 16.4%). Additionally, the proportion of females reporting poor sleep quality (65.0%) was higher than that of males (58.0%) (χ2=110.15, 10.70, P<0.05). The proportion of girls (43.8%) with depressive sypmtoms was higher than that of boys (33.9%) (χ2=20.48, P<0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that high physical activity was negatively correlated with anxiety and depression (OR=0.45, 0.33), poor sleep quality was positively correlated with anxiety and depressive symptoms (OR=3.89, 3.94) (P<0.01).The interaction effect between high physical activity and good sleep quality was associated with the reduction of anxiety and depression among college students (OR=0.14, 0.08, P<0.01).
Conclusions
Physical activity and sleep quality are associated with anxiety and depressive symptoms among college students. The interventions for mental health problems such as depression and anxiety among college students should aim to improve physical activity and sleep quality.

Objective:To investigate the iodine nutritional status of pregnant women in Jilin Province and its correlation with the distribution characteristics of water iodine in external environment, providing a basis for scientific iodine supplementation and prevention of iodine deficiency disorders. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on the iodine survey data of drinking water for residents in Jilin Province in 2017 and the monitoring data of iodine deficiency disorders in 2021. The water iodine, salt iodine, and urinary iodine level of pregnant women were analyzed. Results:In 8 866 water samples from 873 townships (streets, hereinafter referred to as townships) of 60 counties (cities, districts) in 9 cities (autonomous prefectures) throughout the province, the median of water iodine was 4.60 μg/L, ranging from 0.00 to 81.30 μg/L. Among them, there were 758 townships with a median water iodine < 10 μg/L, accounting for 86.83% (758/873); 107 townships with a water iodine of 10 - < 40 μg/L, accounting for 12.26% (107/873). The median salt iodine was 23.50 mg/kg in 6 000 household consumption salt samples. The iodized salt coverage rate, iodized salt qualified rate, and qualified iodized salt consumption rate were 99.50% (5 970/6 000), 97.30% (5 809/5 970), and 96.82% (5 809/6 000), respectively. The iodized salt coverage rate in 9 cities (autonomous prefectures) were > 95%, the iodized salt qualified rate and qualified iodized salt consumption rate were > 90%. The median urinary iodine in 6 000 pregnant women's urine samples was 169.05 μg/L. Except for Bayshan City, which was iodine-deficient, the other 8 cities (autonomous prefectures) were iodine-suitable. The results of correlation analysis showed that there was no correlation between the urinary iodine level of pregnant women and the distribution of water iodine in the external environmental at the municipal (autonomous prefecture) level ( r = 0.60, P = 0.089). Conclusions:Most townships in Jilin Province are iodine-deficient in the external environment, and there are no water-borne high iodine area. The iodized salt coverage rate, iodized salt qualified rate, and qualified iodized salt consumption rate all meet the national standards. The iodine nutrition of pregnant women is generally at a suitable level, but there are still some areas where pregnant women are iodine-deficient, and there is no correlation with the distribution of water iodine.

Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2023;22(6):788-795
Total mesorectal excision (TME) has become the basic principle of surgical treat-ment for middle and low rectal cancer. Some of patients with ultra-low rectal cancer require under-going intersphincteric resection (ISR). Due to the limitation of the narrow pelvis, TME and ISR put forward higher requirements for the precise separation of the anatomical level and the protection of neurological function during the operation. At present, evaluation of the difficulty of surgery for middle and low rectal cancer is mainly based on the subjective judgment of chief surgeon, and there is no unified and objective scoring system or prediction model that can classify the difficulty of surgery for middle and low rectal cancer before surgery. The authors review relevant literatures and summarize the existing studies related to pelvic measurement for predicting the difficulty of surgery for middle and low rectal cancer, in order to provide significant guidance for the selection of surgical approach for patients with middle and low rectal cancer.

Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with electrical stimulation in patients with dysphagia after stroke.Methods:Seventy-two stroke patients with dysphagia who received treatment in The First Hospital of Jiaxing from February 2019 to February 2020 were included in this study. They were randomly assigned to receive either electrical stimulation (control group, n = 36) or high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with electrical stimulation (observation group, n = 36) for 2 weeks. Changes in serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor, neuron-specific enolase, and vascular endothelial growth factor levels after treatment relative to before treatment were observed in each group. Scores of the swallowing function assessment scale, neurological deficit, and quality of life were compared between the control and observation groups. Results:After treatment, serum levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and vascular endothelial growth factor in the observation group were (7.98 ± 1.14) μg/L, (168.78 ± 10.28) ng/L, respectively, which were significantly higher than those in the control group [(5.80 ± 1.10) μg/L, (110.34 ± 10.47) ng/L, t = 8.26, 23.90, both P < 0.01]. Serum neuron-specific enolase level was significantly lower in the observation group than in the control group [(7.57 ± 1.17) μg/L vs. (10.66 ± 1.30) μg/L, t = 10.60, P < 0.001). The scores of swallowing function assessment scale and neurological deficits in the observation group were (2.47 ± 1.16) points and (7.03 ± 1.14) points, respectively, which were significantly lower than those in the control group [(5.75 ± 1.10) points, (9.66 ± 1.20) points, t = 12.31, 9.53, both P < 0.001]. Total effective rate [97.22% (35/36) vs. 77.78% (28/36)] and the score of swallowing quality of life questionnaire [(160.40 ± 8.32) points vs. (146.74 ± 8.10) points] were significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group ( χ2 = 4.57, P = 0.03, t = 7.25, P < 0.001). Conclusion:High-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with electrical stimulation can greatly improve neurological function and swallowing function of stroke patients with dysphagia. The combined therapy is of certain clinical value and innovation.

A fluorescent microsphere-based immunochromatographic strip test (FICT) was developed for the rapid, sensitive, and quantitative detection of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) antibodies at the pen-side. The assay was based on the formation of a sandwich immune-complex (anti-pig IgG-PRRSV antibodies-NSP7/N), which was validated by a comparison with IDEXX-ELISA using 3325 clinical specimens. The diagnostic specificity, sensitivity, and accuracy of FICT were 97.28, 93.41, and 94.95%, respectively. FICT showed a good correlation with the virus neutralization assay. Overall, a promising pen-side diagnostic tool was developed for the rapid and quantitative detection of PRRSV antibodies within 15 min.

Chinese Journal of Health Management 2020;14(4):322-327
Objective:To investigate the correlation between serum uric acid level and non-alcoholic liver disease (NAFLD).Methods:A medical examination cohort of our hospital′s staff was constructed. From February 1, 2012 to January 29, 2013, a total of 3, 479 staff without NAFLD were selected as research subjects, and baseline data were collected through a questionnaire survey, physical examination, abdominal ultrasound examination, blood lipid, blood glucose, liver and kidney function, and other laboratory tests. From February 1, 2013 to December 31, 2018, the patients were followed up during the annual physical examination for six years. The serum uric acid level was used as the observation index and divided into four groups from A to D according to the quartile. With the occurrence of NAFLD as the outcome indicator; the four groups of uric acid as the observation indicator; and age, body mass index, hyperlipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension, creatinine, and alanine aminotrans ferase as confounding factors; four Cox regression analysis models were constructed to explore the relationship between groups of different blood uric acid levels and NAFLD. Stratified by gender, three Cox regression analysis models were constructed to investigate the relationship between blood uric acid level grouping and NAFLD between different genders. Results:The six-year cumulative incidence of NAFLD in groups A, B, C, and D was 1.2%, 3.1%, 4.9%, and 12%, respectively (χ 2=114.710, P<0.05). Among the female workers, the six-year cumulative incidence rates in groups A, B, C, and D were 1.0%, 2.9%, 4.1% and 10.9%, respectively (χ 2=71.241, P<0.05). The incidence risk of NAFLD in groups B, C, and D was 2.04 (1.01-4.11), 2.24 (1.13-4.44), and 3.89 (1.94-7.80) times that of group A, P<0.05, respectively. The incidence risk of NAFLD in groups B, C, and D was 2.21 (1.02-4.77), 2.39 (1.10-5.19), and 4.49 (1.99-10.15) times that of group A, all P<0.05, respectively. Conclusion:The risk of NAFLD increased with the increase of serum uric acid level, and this trend was mainly manifested in female employees.

PurposeTo investigate whole-body magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosis of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM), and to guide clinical treatment.Materials and Methods Twenty-six patients clinically diagnosed IIM including 19 dermatomyositis and 7 polymyositis were analyzed retrospectively. Whole-body MRI was performed in all patients including whole-body coronal scan and axial scan of both sides of thigh. Short tau inversion recovery (STIR) sequences were used in the coronal scan and T1WI and fat-suppressed T2WI were performed in the axial scan. Ten healthy volunteers were recruited as control group. MRI findings were compared between the two groups. Results Whole body MRI showed that muscles were homogeneously low signal intensity in the control group. Imaging findings of the patients with IIM included muscle inflammation, fascitis, subcutaneous tissue edema, muscle atrophy and fatty infiltration. The most common distribution site of muscle inflammation of dermatomyositis patients was thigh (n=18), followed by gluteus (n=14), great psoas muscle (n=13), shoulder muscles (n=11), leg muscle (n=11), erector spinae (n=10) and neck muscles (n=9). Findings out of muscles included cavities in the both lungs, infarction in femurs and tibias, avascular necrosis of femoral head, adrenal mass and thyroid nodules. The most common distribution site of muscle inflammation of polymyositis was thigh (n=5), followed by gluteus (n=3), great psoas muscle (n=3), shoulder muscles (n=2), leg muscles (n=2), erector spinae (n=1) and neck muscles (n=1). Findings out of muscles included 1 case of infarction in femurs and tibias. Conclusion Whole-body MRI can not only comprehensively evaluate the activity of IIM but also detect complications such as bone infarction. It's a powerful tool for diagnosis, guiding treatment and monitoring of IIM.
