Objective To summarize the clinical characteristics of 2 cases of styloid-carotid syndrome(SCS)and review the literature to enhance understanding of the disease. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical manifestations, auxiliary examinations, and diagnosis and treatment of 2 patients with SCS admitted to the Neurology Department of Kaifeng Central Hospital.Additionally, relevant literature was searched through domestic and foreign databases such as PubMed,WOS,Embase,CNKI and VIP.The clinical characteristics of SCS were summarized based on the literature results. Results The 2 cases were diagnosed as transient cerebral ischemia(TIA)combined with SCS through head and neck CT angiography(CTA)and styloid process CT.Apart from the 2 cases treated in our hospital,a total of 11 cases of SCS have been reported in Chinese and English literature up to October 2023.Among the 13 cases,11 cases(84.6%)started with episodic TIA symptoms, and 11 cases(84.6%)had obvious inducing factors related to specific head position changes.Common clinical manifestations included unilateral limb weakness with or without sensory disturbance(10 cases,76.9%),slurred speech(7 cases,53.8%),unilateral limb sensation disorder(4 cases,30.7%),syncope(3 cases,23.1%)and amaurosis(2 cases,15.4%).All 13 cases underwent 64-row head and neck CTA examination, and 6 cases(46.2%)dynamically observed the changes in blood flow velocity through examinations such as transcranial Doppler ultrasound(TCD),cervical vascular ultrasound, and digital subtraction angiography(DSA).All patients were followed up for more than 3 months;and 10 cases(76.9%)achieved clinical cure after treatment,of which 8 cases underwent styloid process shortening surgery;3 cases(23.1%)achieved clinical symptom improvement after treatment. Conclusions For patients with recurrent TIA and/or cerebral infarction,it is necessary to identify whether there are inducing factors related to specific body position changes. For patients highly suspected of SCS,routine examinations such as styloid process CT and 64-row head and neck CTA should be performed, and if necessary, whole brain DSA,dynamic TCD and/or carotid ultrasound should be conducted to guide the diagnosis and treatment. When non-surgical treatment is ineffective, radical styloid process truncation can be considered as a treatment option.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2024;32(4):1278-1283
Objective:To establish the absorption and elution test for relatively quantitive obtaining anti-A and anti-B blood group IgG antibodies in the plasma of O-type RhD-positive pregnant women.Methods:95 cases of the O-type RhD-positive pregnant women plasma samples were randomly selected for obtaining the IgG antibodies of anti-A and anti-B blood group, with absorption test under 37 ℃ and elution test under 56 ℃,and the IgG anti-A and anti-B antibody titers of plasma and elution were determined by the microcolumn gel anti-human globulin test. The differences and correlation between the titers of IgG antibodies in the eluent and plasma were compared and analyzed. Results:After a logarithmic transformation(Log2),there was no statistically difference between IgG antibody anti-A difference value and anti-B difference value in the eluent and plasma(P>0.05).The titer of IgG antibody in the eluent was positively correlated with the titer of IgG antibody in the plasma(r=0.914).The linear equation for IgG antibody titers fitted by a scatter plot between the eluent and plasma was Y=-3.55+0.96X.Conclusion:The absorption and elution test can be used to obtain the anti-A and anti-B IgG antibodies in the plasma of O-type RhD-positive pregnant women, whose plasma origin IgG titer is greater than 8.Meanwhile,the acquisition of anti-A antibodies was as effective as anti-B antibodies at the same time, and the antibodies obtained are positive proportional to their respective concentrations in the plasma.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2024;40(5):385-396
Traumatic supraorbital fissure syndrome (TSOFS) is a symptom complex caused by nerve entrapment in the supraorbital fissure after skull base trauma. If the compressed cranial nerve in the supraorbital fissure is not decompressed surgically, ptosis, diplopia and eye movement disorder may exist for a long time and seriously affect the patients′ quality of life. Since its overall incidence is not high, it is not familiarized with the majority of neurosurgeons and some TSOFS may be complicated with skull base vascular injury. If the supraorbital fissure surgery is performed without treatment of vascular injury, it may cause massive hemorrhage, and disability and even life-threatening in severe cases. At present, there is no consensus or guideline on the diagnosis and treatment of TSOFS that can be referred to both domestically and internationally. To improve the understanding of TSOFS among clinical physicians and establish standardized diagnosis and treatment plans, the Skull Base Trauma Group of the Neurorepair Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Neurotrauma Group of the Neurosurgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Neurotrauma Group of the Traumatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, and Editorial Committee of Chinese Journal of Trauma organized relevant experts to formulate Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic supraorbital fissure syndrome ( version 2024) based on evidence of evidence-based medicine and clinical experience of diagnosis and treatment. This consensus puts forward 12 recommendations on the diagnosis, classification, treatment, efficacy evaluation and follow-up of TSOFS, aiming to provide references for neurosurgeons from hospitals of all levels to standardize the diagnosis and treatment of TSOFS.

Wnt/β-catenin is a signaling pathway associated with embryonic development, organ formation, cancer, and fibrosis. Its activation can repair kidney damage during acute kidney injury (AKI) and accelerate the occurrence of renal fibrosis after chronic kidney disease (CKD). Interestingly, p53 has also been found as a key modulator in AKI and CKD in recent years. Meantime, some studies have found crosstalk between Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways and p53, but more evidence is required on whether they have synergistic effects in renal disease progression. This article reviews the role and therapeutic targets of Wnt/β-catenin and p53 in AKI and CKD and proposes for the first time that Wnt/β-catenin and p53 have a synergistic effect in the treatment of renal injury.

This article retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 8 patients with vesicovaginal fistula after radiotherapy for cervical cancer admitted in our hospital from January 2015 to October 2021. All of them underwent cystostomy under local anesthesia. A single J tube of bilateral ureters was retained under cystoscope, and the single J tube was introduced into the fistula bag through the cystostomy opening. All patients wore diapers for a long time before operation, and used urine pads 0-2 pieces/day after operation. QOL score was 5.3±0.5 points before operation, and 2.5±0.5 points after operation. The patient's body odor basically disappeared. The vesicovaginal fistula can be repaired by surgery, but for patients who cannot be operated or failed repeatedly due to various reasons, a single J tube of bilateral ureters can be drawn out through the cystostomy opening, which can improve the quality of life of patients through minor trauma.
