1.Peripheral zone PSA density: a predominant variable to improve prostate cancer detection efficiency in men with PSA higher than 4 ng ml

To improve the diagnostic efficiency of prostate cancer (PCa) and reduce unnecessary biopsies, we defined and analyzed the diagnostic efficiency of peripheral zone prostate-specific antigen (PSA) density (PZ-PSAD). Patients who underwent systematic 12-core prostate biopsies in Shanghai General Hospital (Shanghai, China) between January 2012 and January 2018 were retrospectively identified (n = 529). Another group of patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (n = 100) were randomly preselected to obtain the PSA density of the non-PCa cohort (N-PSAD). Prostate volumes and transition zone volumes were measured using multiparameter magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and were combined with PSA and N-PSAD to obtain the PZ-PSAD from a specific algorithm. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess the PCa detection efficiency in patients stratified by PSA level, and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) of PZ-PSAD was higher than that of PSA, PSA density (PSAD), and transition zone PSA density (TZ-PSAD). PZ-PSAD could amend the diagnosis for more than half of the patients with inaccurate transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS) and mpMRI results. When TRUS and mpMRI findings were ambiguous to predict PCa (PIRADS score ≤3), PZ-PSAD could increase the positive rate of biopsy from 21.7% to 54.7%, and help 63.8% (150/235) of patients avoid unnecessary prostate biopsy. To study the biopharmaceutics characteristics of paris saponin VII (PSVII). The solubility of PSVII was evaluated by measurement of the equilibrium solubility in different solvents and media. The permeability of PSVII was evaluated by measuring the oil/water partition coefficient (lgP) and determining the apparent permeability coefficient (PC) on a mono-layer Caco-2 cell model. The effects of p-glycoprotein and multidrug resistance related protein 2 on PSVII transport in mono-layer Caco-2 cell model were further investigated. Finally, the small intestinal absorption of PSVII was investigated in rat. In solvents of different pH, the equilibrium solubility of PSVII was quite low, and the dose number of PSVII was larger than 1. The lgP of PSVII was less than 0. The apparent permeability coefficient [PC] of PSVII in mono-layer Caco-2 cell model was less than 14.96 × 10 cm·s, and the efflux ratio of PSVII in mono-layer Caco-2 cell model was less than 1. The transport rate of PSVII in mono-layer Caco-2 cell model was not affected by the inhibitors of p-glycoprotein and multidrug resistance related protein 2. After oral administration, PSVII could be detected in rat intestinal contents, but could not be detected in the small intestinal mucosa. PSVII showed low solubility and permeability, which would result in low oral bioavailability in clinic. PSVII belonged to Class IV compound in biopharmaceutics classification system.

Dental implants represent the majority of treatment strategies used to replace missing teeth. However, peri-implant diseases caused by disturbance in peri-implant microbiological balance are among the reasons for implant failure. Since the 1980s, peri-implant microorganisms have been a hot research topic in dental microbiology. The bacterial ecology between the disease and health largely differs, which directly or indirectly increases the risk of peri-implant diseases. Accordingly, the determination of the 'core microbiome' of peri-implantitis and peri-implant mucositis is a key point of recent research.

6.Advances in titanium dental implant surface modification.

Titanium dental implants have wide clinical application due to their many advantages, including comfort, aesthetics, lack of damage to adjacent teeth, and significant clinical effects. However, the failure of osseointegration, bone resorption, and peri-implantitis limits their application. Physical-chemical and bioactive coatings on the surface of titanium implants could improve the successful rate of dental implants and meet the clinical application requirements. This paper reviews the characteristics of surface modification of titanium implants from the aspects of physics, chemistry, and biology. Results provide information for research and clinical application of dental implant materials.

Current biomechanical research of dental implants focuses on the mechanical damage and enhancement mechanism of the implant-abutment interface as well as how to obtain better mechanical strength and longer fatigue life of dental implants. The mechanical properties of implants can be comprehensively evaluated by strain gauge analysis, photo elastic stress analysis, digital image correlation, finite element analysis, implant bone bonding strength test, and measurement of mechanical properties. Finite element analysis is the most common method for evaluating stress distribution in dental implants, and static pressure and fatigue tests are commonly used in mechanical strength test. This article reviews biomechanical research methods and evaluation indices of dental implants. Results provide methodology guidelines in the field of biomechanics by introducing principles, ranges of application, advantages, and limitations, thereby benefitting researchers in selecting suitable methods. The influencing factors of the experimental results are presented and discussed to provide implant design ideas for researchers.

8.Relationship Between ABO Blood Group and Acute Non-ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Occurrence

Objective: To explore the relationship between ABO blood group and acute non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) occurrence. Methods: Our research included 2 groups: NSTEMI group, 1039 relevant patients treated in Anzhen hospital from 2013-01 to 2014-12 were retrospectively enrolled; Control group, 1039 subjects with normal coronary artery which was confirmed by coronary angiography. The Baseline condition including age, previous disease history and ABO blood group was studied. Logistic regression model was used to conduct single and multivariate analysis. Results: In NSTEMI group and Control group, blood type A was 287/1039 (27.6%) vs 259 (24.9%), type B was 345 (33.3%) vs 356 (34.3%), type AB was 102 (9.8%) vs 114 (11.0%) and type O was 305 (29.4%) vs 310 (29.8%), ABO blood group distribution for A and non-A, B and non-B, AB and non-AB blood group, O and non-O had no statistic meaning between 2 groups, P>0.05. Logistic regression analysis indicated that with adjusted risk factors of MI such as age, gender, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipemia, cerebrovascular disease and smoking, the patients with blood types A, B and AB had the similar risk for NSTEMI occurrence than type O patients; there was no relationship between ABO blood group and NSTEMI occurrence. Conclusion: ABO blood group had no relationship to NSTEMI occurrence.
9.Clinical significance of peripheral blood neutrophil CD64 in Kawasaki disease

Objective To investigate the expression level of peripheral blood neutrophil CD64 in Kawasaki disease (KD),and explore its clinical significance.Methods Fifty-four patients with KD were divided into 2 groups [13 patients with coronary artery lesions(CAL) and 41 patients without CAL],and 30 age-matched patients with sepsis and 10 healthy children were studied.The levels of peripheral blood neutrophil CD64 was measured by flow cytometry.Results Before treatment,the levels of C D64 in children with KD(7.02 ± 3.21)and sepsis (11.25 ± 5.14) were significantly higher than the healthy children (2.45 ± 0.52),and the level of CD64 in the KD group was significantly lower than that in sepsis group(P < 0.01).CD64 index were significantly elevated in the 2 groups of KD patients before treatment (CAL group:5.74 ± 3.09 ; without CAL:7.43-± 3.17).There was no significant difference in the CD64 level between KD patients with CAL and without CAL.CD64 index in the 2 groups of KD patients after treatment (CAL group:2.56 ± 0.73 ; without CAL:2.63-± 0.69) were significantly lower than those before treatment (all P < 0.01).Conclusions The expression of peripheral blood neutrophil CD64 in KD is significantly elevated.The degree of elevation in CD64 possibly has clinical meaning in differentiating KD from sepsis,and it can be a sensitive factor of disease outcome.
10.Prevalence on overweight and obesity in Han, Uygur and Hazakh in adults from Xinjiang

Objective To investigate the prevalence and distributing feature of overweight and obesity in Han, Uygur and Hazakh population in adults from Xinjiang. Methods Four-stage selected random samples with maternal age at 35 or over were used to analyze the prevalence and distributing feature of self-reported congestive heart failure in different nationalities, age, sex. The sampled adult population were collected from 6 localities(Urumqi, Kelamayi, Fukang, the Turfan Basin locality, Hetian locality, Yili Hazakh autonomous prefecture), 23 municipalities and 7 locality and 5 autonomous counties in Xinjiang. Results 16 460 people were surveyed. The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were 36.1% and 26.9% in Han, Uygur and Hazakh population in Xinjiang,respectively from February, 2007. The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were 41.4% and18.4% in Han population, 34.9% and 28.9% in Uygur population, but 32.8% and 40.1% in Hazakh population. The prevalence rate of overweight and obesity was higher in males(x2= 135.00, P<0.05).The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were different between different ethnic groups(x2=338.232, P<0.05). The prevalence of overweight was highest in Han population, with the highest seen in Hazakh population. The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were increasing with age (x2=246.80,P<0.05). The overweight rate in 45-54 year olds and the obesity rate in 55-64 year olds reached their peak values. Results from logistic regression model analyses indicated that the prevalence of overweight and obesity in Xinjiang were statistically associated with age, educational level, jobs, smoking and alcohol consumption. Conclusion The prevalence rates of overweight and obesity were much higher in the population of Xinjiang but different among ethnicities. The prevalence of overweight was the highest in Han male population and the rate of obesity in Hazakh male population was the highest.
