1.Effects of loneliness, social support and social media use on post-traumatic stress symptoms among post-earthquake adolescents

BackgroundPost-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) is highly prevalent in adolescents who have experienced earthquake, which seriously threatens their physical and mental health, yet there is currently a lack of research on the effects of loneliness, social support and social media use on PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. ObjectiveTo assess the PTSS among adolescents experiencing MS6.0 Luxian, Sichuan, earthquake on 16 September 2021, and to investigate the effects of loneliness, social support and social media use on PTSS, so as to provide references for the intervention of PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. MethodsOn November 12, 2021, simple random sampling technique was used to select 2 522 post-earthquake adolescents in Luxian county of Luzhou city in Sichuan province. All subjects were assessed using Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), Short-form UCLA Loneliness Scale (ULS-3) and Social Media Use Scale (SM-10). Binary Logistic regression was used to determine the factors influencing PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. ResultsPTSS was detected in 91 (3.61%) adolescents. Binary Logistic regression revealed that perceived social support from family members (OR=0.926, 95% CI: 0.879~0.976) was a protective factor for PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. Lack of companionship (OR=1.764, 95% CI: 1.141~2.727), feeling isolated (OR=2.037, 95% CI: 1.282~3.236), and viewing negative emotional response of disaster victims through social media (OR=1.615, 95% CI: 1.291~2.020) were risk factors for PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. ConclusionLack of companionship, feeling isolated, and viewing negative emotional response of disaster victims through social media pose a negative impact on PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents, while perceived social support from family members exert a positive impact on PTSS among post-earthquake adolescents. 2.Interpretation of Chinese Expert Consensus on Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Management of Wilson Disease-related Renal Damage

Wilson disease is a copper metabolism disorder caused by mutations in the ATP7B gene, which encodes a copper-transporting ATPase β, and can result in multisystem damage. The kidneys are the third most commonly affected organs after the liver and brain. In recent years, numerous diagnostic and treatment guidelines for Wilson disease have emerged. However, most of these focus primarily on hepatic and neurological manifestations and their management, with limited coverage of renal involvement. The high incidence, low awareness, and lack of clinical specificity of Wilson disease-related renal damage (WDRD) have made early detection and intervention particularly challenging in clinical practice. To further optimize the treatment of patients with WDRD, improve clinical diagnosis and management, and enhance patients' quality of life, the Neurology Committee of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine, in April 2024, initiated a revision of the first expert consensus on the integrated diagnosis, treatment, and management of WDRD. This effort brought together experts in hepatology, encephalopathy (neurology), and nephrology from many tertiary-level grade A hospitals and research institutions across China. Through comprehensive literature review and integration of frontline clinical experience, the expert group jointly developed Chinese Expert Consensus on Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Management of Wilson Disease-related Renal Damage (hereinafter referred to as the "Consensus"). This article provides a detailed interpretation of the Consensus in terms of diagnostic criteria, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome differentiation and treatment classification, and comprehensive disease management, aiming to better guide clinical application. Regarding diagnostic criteria, the Consensus integrates the latest standards in China and abroad, highlights the importance of biochemical diagnosis, and compensates for the limitations of genetic testing. In the area of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, the Consensus refines four major syndrome types, introduces a newly defined syndrome, i.e., phlegm, blood stasis, and heat accumulation, and elaborates on treatment principles, prescriptions, and clinical modification rules for each syndrome. For comprehensive disease management, the Consensus emphasizes multi-dimensional intervention strategies, including diet, exercise, emotional regulation, medication, and medical care, with the goal of maximally controlling the progression of renal dysfunction and helping patients achieve a better quality of life.

Aromatherapy refers to the method of using the aromatic components of plants in appropriate forms to act on the entire body or a specific area to prevent and treat diseases. Essential oils used in aromatherapy are hydrophobic liquids containing volatile aromatic molecules, such as limonene, linalool, linalool acetate, geraniol, and citronellol. These chemicals have been extensively studied and shown to have a variety of functions, including reducing anxiety, relieving depression, promoting sleep, and providing pain relief. Terpenoids are a class of organic molecules with relatively low lipid solubility. After being inhaled, they can pass through the nasal mucosa for transfer or penetrate the skin and enter the bloodstream upon local application. Some of these substances also have the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, thereby exerting effects on the central nervous system. Currently, the academic community generally agrees that products such as essential oils and aromatherapy from aromatic plants have certain health benefits. However, the process of extracting a single component from it and successfully developing it into a drug still faces many challenges. Its safety and efficacy still need to be further verified through more rigorous and systematic experiments. This article systematically elaborated on the efficacy of aromatic substances, including plant extracts and natural small molecule compounds, in antibacterial and antiviral fields and the regulation of nervous system activity. As a result, a deeper understanding of aromatherapy was achieved. At the same time, the potential of these aromatic substances for drug development was thoroughly explored, providing important references and insights for possible future drug research and application.
4.Trend of blood pressure among children and adolescents and its correlation with pubertal development and nutritional status

Objective:
To explore the trend of blood pressure among children and adolescents and its correlation with pubertal development and nutritional status, so as to provide a scientific basis for developing prevention strategies targeting early stage hypertension.
Methods:
In September 2023, a multi stage random cluster sampling was used to select 20 241 primary and secondary school students aged 7-18 years from 57 schools in Jinzhong, whose height, weight, and blood pressure were measured. The Chi square test for trend was used to analyze the change trend in the detection rate of elevated blood pressure and hypertension in children and adolescents with the development of adolescence puberty, and the Logistic regression was used to analyze the correlation between elevated blood pressure and hypertension and nutritional status.
Results:
The prevalence of elevated blood pressure was 17.3% among children and adolescents. The middle and late pubertal groups had the highest prevalence (23.2% and 24.3%), followed by the early pubertal group (19.5%) and the prepuberty group (10.8%) ( χ 2 trend =372.86, P <0.01). The prevalence of hypertension was 14.8%, with the highest prevalence reported in the late pubertal group (22.4%), followed by the middle pubertal group (18.9%), and the early pubertal (13.0%)/prepuberty (12.2%) groups ( χ 2 trend =175.43, P <0.01). The prevalence of elevated blood pressure and hypertension increased with pubertal development, regardless of gender, region, or nutritional status ( χ 2 trend =9.21-771.90, P <0.01). Overweight and obesity were influencing factors of elevated blood pressure and hypertension among children and adolescents during all stages of pubertal development ( OR =1.2-2.8, P <0.01).
Conclusion
The prevalence of elevated blood pressure and hypertension among children and adolescents during pubertal development is high, showing an increasing trend with pubertal development.
5.Association of dietary patterns with serum uric acid and hyperuricemia in Chinese adults

Objective:To analyze the dietary patterns of Chinese adults and explore the relationship with serum uric acid (SUA) and hyperuricemia (HUA).Methods:A total of 9 358 adults were selected in the 2018 China Health and Nutrition Survey. Dietary intake data were collected by three consecutive 24-hour dietary recalls and weighing method. The social demographic information of the survey subjects was obtained through questionnaire surveys. The dietary patterns were extracted using factor analysis, and the relationship between dietary patterns and SUA was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The correlation between HUA and dietary patterns was analyzed using logistic regression analysis models.Results:Four dietary patterns were identified: northern (high intakes of wheat, other cereals,and tubers); modern (high intakes of fruit, dairy, eggs, and nuts); southern (high intakes of rice and vegetables);animal food-wine (high intake of organ meats, seafood, and wine). The multiple linear regression analysis results showed that the northern pattern was negatively correlated with SUA ( β=-0.438, 95% CI: -0.500--0.376); the modern pattern was negatively correlated with SUA ( β=-0.134, 95% CI: -0.219--0.049); the southern model was significantly correlated with higher SUA ( β=0.146, 95% CI: 0.079-0.214); the animal food-wine pattern was positively correlated with SUA ( β=0.188, 95% CI: 0.123-0.252). Logistic regression analysis showed that compared with the northern model score Q1 group, the risk of developing HUA was reduced in Q3 and Q4 groups, with ORs values of 0.777 (95% CI: 0.650-0.929) and 0.509 (95% CI: 0.423-0.613), respectively; and compared with the modern model score Q1 group, the higher the scores in Q3 and Q4 groups, the HUA was lower, with ORs of 0.793 (95% CI: 0.660-0.953) and 0.768 (95% CI: 0.631-0.934), respectively. Compared with the animal food-wine pattern score Q1 group, the risk of developing HUA was increased in both Q3 and Q4 groups ( Q3 group: OR=1.224, 95% CI: 1.012-1.480; Q4 group: OR=1.312, 95% CI: 1.086-1.584). Conclusions:Dietary patterns are associated with HUA. The northern and modern patterns are related to lower SUA levels and reduced risk of HUA, while the animal food-wine pattern increases the risk of HUA.
6.Clinical and genetic analysis of a child with X-linked mental retardation due to variant of SLC9A7 gene

Objective:To explore the clinical and genetic characteristics of a child with mental retardation, language and motor developmental delay and epilepsy.Methods:A Child who was admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University in March 2020 for intermittent seizures for over two months was Selected as the study subject. Clinical data of the child was collected. Peripheral blood samples of the child and his parents were collected and subjected to high throughput sequencing. Candidate variants were verified by Sanger sequencing and bioinformatic analysis.Results:The clinical manifestations of the child have included mental retardation, language and motor developmental delay, and seizures. High-throughput sequencing revealed that he has harbored a hemizygous splice site variant (NM_032591.3: c.1030-1G>C) of the SLC9A7 gene, which was inherited from his mother and unreported previously. Conclusion:The hemizygous splice site variant (NM_032591.3: c. 1030-1G>C) of the SLC9A7 gene probably underlay the disease in this child. Above finding has provided a basis for clinical diagnosis and genetic counseling.
7.Relationship of CKS1B mRNA Expression in Endometrial Cancer Tissues with Its Clinicopathological Features and Prognosis

Objective To investigate the expression of CKS1B in endometrial carcinoma(EC)and its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis.Methods The expression profile data and clinical data of CKS1B from the TCGA and GTEx databases were downloaded to investigate the expression of CKS1B in EC and its relationship with clinicopathological features.The expression of CKS1B at the protein level was verified using the UALCAN database.The relationship between CKS1B expression and clinicopathological parameters was analyzed by Logistic regression.The r program perform enrichment analysis on CKS1B co-expressed genes in the TCGA database.Finally,CKS1B mRNA expression was discovered in the cell lines Ishikawa and HEC-1-A by quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR).CKS1B protein expression was detected in EC tissues and adjacent tissues by Western Bolt(WB).Results CKS1B mRNA and protein were remarkably higher in EC tissues than in normal endometrium,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The level of CKS1B mRNA expression was strongly correlated with FIGO stage(F=42.994),histological grade(F=70.350),histological type(F=87.341)and age(F=40.097)(all P<0.05).The results of the Kaplan-Meier method showed that patients with high CKS1B mRNA expression had a lower overall survival rate(Log-rank x2=1.175,P<0.01).Multifactorial COX analysis showed that FIGO stage(HR=3.065,95%CI:1.906~4.926)and CKS1B expression(HR=1.856,95%CI:1.154~2.985)were independent risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with EC(P<0.05).GO analysis showed that CKS1B was mainly involved in nuclear division and chromosome separation.KEGG analysis showed it was mainly enriched in the cell cycle,spliceosome and DNA replication.Further verification showed that CKS1B mRNA was highly expressed in Ishikawa and HEC-1-A cell lines(F=44.560,P<0.001),CKS1B protein was highly expressed in EC tissues(t=14.900,P<0.001).Conclusion CKS1B is upregulated in EC and is linked to clinicopathological variables in the patients.It may play a role in the development of EC by regulating the cell cycle,and it is expected to be a new marker for the diagnosis and prognosis of EC.
8.Evaluation of Molecular Residual Disease by a Fixed Panel in Resectable Colorectal Cancer

Purpose:
Molecular residual disease (MRD) is a promising biomarker in colorectal cancer (CRC) for prognosis and guiding treatment, while the whole-exome sequencing (WES) based tumor-informed assay is standard for evaluating MRD based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA). In this study, we assessed the feasibility of a fixed-panel for evaluating MRD in CRC.
Materials and Methods:
Seventy-five patients with resectable stage I-III CRC were enrolled. Tumor tissues obtained by surgery, and preoperative and postoperative day 7 blood samples were collected. The ctDNA was evaluated using the tumor-agnostic and tumor-informed fixed assays, as well as the WES-based and panel-based personalized assays in randomly selected patients.
Results:
The tumor-informed fixed assay had a higher preoperative positive rate than the tumor-agnostic assay (73.3% vs. 57.3%). The preoperative ctDNA status failed to predict disease-free survival (DFS) in either of the fixed assays, while the tumor-informed fixed assay-determined postoperative ctDNA positivity was significantly associated with worse DFS (hazard ratio [HR], 20.74; 95% confidence interval [CI], 7.19 to 59.83; p < 0.001), which was an independent predictor by multivariable analysis (HR, 28.57; 95% CI, 7.10 to 114.9; p < 0.001). Sub-cohort analysis indicated the WES-based personalized assay had the highest preoperative positive rate (95.1%). The two personalized assays and the tumor-informed fixed assay demonstrated same results in postoperative landmark (HR, 26.34; 95% CI, 6.01 to 115.57; p < 0.001), outperforming the tumor-agnostic fixed panel (HR, 3.04; 95% CI, 0.94 to 9.89; p=0.052).
Conclusion
Our study confirmed the prognostic value of the ctDNA positivity at postoperative day 7 by the tumor-informed fixed panel. The tumor-informed fixed panel may be a cost-effective method to evaluate MRD, which warrants further studies in future.
9.Study on the mental health status and its influencing factors among middle school students in Yi nationality areas: a case study of Xide County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province

ObjectiveTo explore the mental health status and its influencing factors among middle school students in Xide County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, and to provide references for mental health interventions for local middle school students. MethodsUsing a cross-sectional study design, one junior middle school and one senior middle school in Xide County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, were randomly selected on September 16, 2021, and two classes per grade in each school involving 288 students were recruited. Subjects were assessed using Patients' Health Questionnaire Depression Scale-9 item (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7 item (GAD-7), PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and UCLA Loneliness Scale (ULS-3). Then the scores of above scales were compared among middle school students with different demographic characteristics, and binary Logistic regression analysis was conducted to screen the influencing factors of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms. ResultsAmong the respondents, 17.71% (95% CI: 0.133~0.221), 8.68% (95% CI: 0.054~0.120), 2.78% (95% CI: 0.009~0.047) and 45.83% (95% CI: 0.400~0.516) were reported to have symptoms of depression, anxiety, PTSD and loneliness, respectively. Students in senior middle school scored lower on PCL-5 and ULS-3 than those in junior middle school [(6.46±8.91) vs. (8.87±9.42), t=2.202, P<0.05; (4.67±1.65) vs. (5.60±1.88), t=4.431, P<0.01]. Regression analysis denoted that depressive symptoms (OR=7.630, P<0.05) and anxiety symptoms (OR=3.789, P<0.01) were risk factors for PTSD symptoms among middle school students. ConclusionThe middle school students in Xide County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture suffer a high prevalence rate of depressive symptoms and loneliness, and those in junior middle school are more likely to feel a sense of strong loneliness, furthermore, depressive symptoms and anxiety symptoms are risk factors for PTSD symptoms.
10.Evaluation of the therapeutic effect of deuterium depleted water on gastroenteritis induced by 131I radiation in thyroid cancer treatment

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of oral administration of deuterium depleted water on gastroenteritis induced by 131I radiation in thyroid cancer treatment. Methods Fifty patients with papillary thyroid cancer treated with 131I in the Department of Nuclear Medicine of Changshu No.2 People’s Hospital from May 2022 to February 2023 were divided into control group and experimental group (25 patients in each group). Data were continuously collected throughout the study duration. The control group was orally administrated omeprazole enteric-coated capsules and purified water at 660 mL tid for 5 days. The experimental group received the same basic treatment as the control group except that deuterium depleted water was used instead of purified water. The incidence and alleviation of 131I radiation-induced gastroenteritis were observed and compared between the two groups using the Fisher’s exact test and Kaplan-Meier analysis. Results The number of gastroenteritis cases from day 1 to day 5 after 131I administration was 2 (8%), 5 (20%), 2 (8%), 1 (4%), and 0 (0%), respectively, in the experimental group, and 2 (8%), 8 (32%), 4 (16%), 3 (12%), and 1 (4%), respectively, in the control group. The incidence of gastroenteritis was significantly different between the two groups (χ2=4.064, P=0.044). After 5 days of treatment, the overall response rate of patients in the experimental group was 96%, which was significantly higher than 76% in the control group (χ2=9.105, P=0.025). Conclusion Oral administration of deuterium depleted water is effective in the relief of clinical symptoms of 131I radiation-induced gastroenteritis in thyroid cancer treatment. The clinical application of deuterium depleted water should be further investigated.
