OBJECTIVE To systematically evaluate the effects of C3435T polymorphism in ABCB1 gene on lipid-lowering efficacy of statins. METHODS Retrieved from PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CNKI and VIP, the cohort studies on the use of statins were collected from the inception to November 1, 2023. After literature screening, data extraction and quality evaluation, meta-analysis was performed by using RevMan 5.4 software. RESULTS A total of 11 literature involving 1 575 patients were included. The results showed that under the dominant genetic model, the reduction of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) [MD=-1.87, 95%CI (-3.62, -0.13), P=0.04], total cholesterol (TC) [MD=-1.42, 95%CI (-2.80, -0.04), P=0.04] in patients with CT+TT genotype was significantly higher than CC genotype. There was no significant difference in the increase of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) [MD=-0.65, 95%CI (-2.48, 1.18), P=0.49] or the decrease of triglyceride (TG) [MD=-0.05, 95%CI (-2.94, 2.84), P=0.97] between patients with CT+TT genotype and CC genotype. Under the recessive genetic model, the reduction of TC [MD=2.26, 95%CI (0.97, 3.56), P=0.000 6] and the increase of HDL-C [MD=2.38, 95%CI (0.42, 4.35), P=0.02] in patients with TT genotype were significantly higher than CC+ CT genotype. There was no significant difference in the reduction of LDL-C [MD=1.53, 95%CI (-0.10, 3.15), P=0.07] or TG [MD=0.06, 95%CI (-2.98, 3.10), P=0.97] between CC+CT genotype and TT genotype. Under the additive genetic model, the reduction of TC [MD=2.98, 95%CI (1.27, 4.69), P=0.000 6] and LDL-C [MD=2.84, 95%CI (0.67, 5.01), P=0.01] in patients with TT genotype were significantly higher than CC genotype. There was no significant difference in the increase of HDL-C [MD=2.40, 95%CI (-0.17, 4.97), P=0.07] or the decrease of TG [MD=0.97, 95%CI (-2.93, 4.87), P=0.63] between patients with TT genotype and CC genotype. CONCLUSIONS The reduction of LDL-C and TC in patients with dyslipidemia treated with statins may be related to the heterozygous and homozygous mutation of C3435T in ABCB1 gene, and the reduction of LDL-C and TC in patients with CT or TT genotype is more obvious, compared with patients with CC genotype. The elevation of HDL-C may be related to homozygous mutation, and the effect of HDL-C elevation may be more obvious in patients with TT genotype, compared with CC+CT genotype. However, the change of TG may not be related to the C3435T polymorphism in ABCB1 gene.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2023;44(6):854-858
Objective:
To understand the status of pinworm infection in rural children aged 3-9 years in Anhui Province, and to provide scientific basis for the prevention and control strategy of pinworm disease.
Methods:
According to the National Surveillance Program of Liver Fluke Disease and Soil Transmitted Nematodiasis(Trial), no less than 10% counties(cities and districts) in Anhui Province were selected as mobile surveillance sites every year. Each surveillance site was divided into 5 areas on the basis of geographical location(east, west, south, north and middle), from each of the areas, one administrative village was selected from one township(town, community) for conducting surveillance. Children at age 3-9 years from each site were examined for pinworm infection with the modified Kato-Katz thick smear method and the adhesive cellophane tape perianal swab method. Chi square test was used to compare the infection rate.
Results:
From 2017 to 2021, the 5 year average infection rate of pinworm in rural Anhui was 1.34%(128/9 557), and there was no significant difference in the infection rate over the years( P >0.05). The detection rates of the modified Kato-Katz thick smear method and the adhesive cellophane tape perianal swab method were 0.28% and 1.23%, respectively, the difference was statistically significant( χ 2=72.97, P <0.01). In different regions, the 5 year average infection rate of Fuyang City was the highest(4.27%), and the rate of each city was positively correlated with the number of local resident population( r =0.54, P <0.05). There was no significant sex difference in the 5 year average infection rates( P >0.05). The 5 year average infection rate of children aged 3 to 9 years in rural areas were 0.62%, 1.10%, 1.44%, 1.57%, 0.94%, 2.09% and 1.57%, respectively, showed an increasing trend with the increase of age( χ 2=14.41, χ 2 trend =6.70, P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the average infection rate between scattered children and collectively living children( P >0.05).
Conclusion
From 2017 to 2021, the infection rate of pinworm among children in rural Anhui province remains at a low level. In the future, health education and monitoring should be strengthened.

Purpose:
Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT) is a rare mesenchymal malignancy that occurs primarily in children and adolescents. The clinical and pathological features of IMT in adult patients are not well understood.
Materials and Methods:
We retrospectively searched for records of adult patients with IMT at Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center from 2006 to 2021. Clinicopathological data, treatments, and outcomes were collected and analyzed.
Results:
Thirty adult patients with IMT, mostly women (60.0%), were included. The median age of the patients was 38 (21-77). The most common primary site was abdominopelvic region (53.3%), followed by lungs (20.0%). Seven patients had an abdominal epithelioid inflammatory myofibroblast sarcoma (EIMS). The positivity rate of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) was 81.5% (22/27). Sixteen patients with advanced ALK-positive disease received crizotinib, with an objective response rate (ORR) of 81.3% and a disease control rate of 87.5%. The median progression-free survival was 20.8 months. EIMS was associated with more aggressive behavior; however, the prognosis was similar to that of non-EIMS patients after treatment with an ALK inhibitor. At a median follow-up time of 30 months (95% confidence interval [CI], 13.6 to 46.4), the 5-year overall survival was 77% (95% CI, 66 to 88) in all patients.
Conclusion
Adult IMTs appeared more aggressive, with a higher incidence of recurrence and metastases, and patients with EIMS had more aggressive cases. Treatment with ALK inhibitors resulted in a high ORR and a durable response, which suggested that ALK inhibitors could be used as a first-line treatment option in adult patients with ALK-positive advanced IMT.

Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2022;45(9):963-967
Objective:Patient risk-based statistical quality control (SQC) program was designed for 9 specific protein projects using Westgard sigma rules with run length. Methods:The cumulative coefficient of variation of immunoglobulin (Ig)G, IgA, IgM, C3, C4, rheumatoid factor (RF), antistreptolysin O (ASO), transferrin (TRF) and prealbumin (PA) from the laboratory department of Beijing Tongren Hospital between December 2018 to May 2019 were used as the estimated value of imprecision. The mean of the absolute value of the percentage difference of 10 batches in the laboratory, which was derived from the results of participating the external quality assessment (EQA), was used as the estimated value of bias. The National Center for Clinical Laboratories EQA evaluation criteria was used as an allowable total error (TEa), and the sigma value of each project (σ) was calculated. Westgard Sigma rule with run length was used to design appropriate SQC program for each project, including quality control rules, number of control measurements (N) and frequency of quality control. Results:The sigma value was larger than 6 for SQC procedure of IgG, IgA, IgM, C4 and TRF. SQC could be established with the use of 1 3s rule, number of control measurements (N)=2, number of runs (R)=1, and a run length of 1 000 patient samples. Combined with the average daily workload, internal quality control could be conducted once every 10 days for IgG, IgA, IgM and C4, every 50 days for TRF. The σ was 5.86 for C3, SQC program could be established with run length of 450 using 1 3S/2 2S/R 4s rule (N=2, R=1), combined with average daily workload, internal quality control could be conducted every 4.5 days. σ was between 3 and 4 for RF, ASO and PA. With the use of 1 3S/2 2S/R 4s/4 1s/6 X rule (N=6, R=1), SQC program with a run length of 45 and higher frequency internal quality control activities. Conclusion:It is feasible to use Westgard sigma rules with run length for the laboratories design of personalized risk-based SQC procedures, the method is very simple and intuitive. This tool is valued to be recommended to be actively applied by all clinical laboratories.
