OBJECTIVE To investigate the influence of noise on the hearing of the workers with noise exposureand explore the relationship between the hearing damage and the length of noise exposure.METHODS 120 workers who exposed to noise were recruited. Their physical examination including audiometry was done in our hospital from year 2012 to 2014. Hearing loss and the length of noise exposure were detected in all subjects after 2-year's follow-up.The rate of hearing loss between workers with different length of noise exposure was analyzed statistically. RESULTS There were 22 workers who were exposed to noise for 2 years, 43 workers for 3-5 years and 55 workers for 6-10 years. After 2-year's follow up, there were significant differences between the rate of hearing loss and the length of noise exposure at 3,4 and 6 kHz. And the rate of hearing loss at different sound frequency were significantly different statistically. CONCLUSION The relevance ratio of hearing loss in long noise-exposed group was significantly higher than short groups. The hearing damages at 4 KHz were more frequent than other sound frequency.

BACKGROUNDHypoxia promotes tumor angiogenesis and hypoxia-inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α) plays a pivotal role in this process. Recently identified pro-angiogenic factor, semaphorin4D (Sema4D) also promotes angiogenesis and enhances invasive proliferation in some tumors. Furthermore, tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) can increase the expression of HIF-1α and Sema4D in cancer cells and thus influence tumor growth and progression. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of TAMs on the expression of Sema4D and HIF-1α and the impact of biologic behavior in colon cancer cells.
METHODSImmunohistochemistry was used to analyze HIF-1α and Sema4D expression in 86 curatively resected colon cancer samples and 52 normal colon tissues samples. The relationship between their expression and clinicopathological factors was analyzed. Furthermore, macrophage-tumor cell interactions, such as metastasis, angiogenesis, were also studied using in vitro co-culture systems. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 software (SPSS Inc., USA). Differences between two groups were analyzed with Student's t test.
RESULTSHIF-1α (58%) and Sema4D (60%) were expressed at a significantly higher level in tumors than in normal tissues (P < 0.01, for both). Furthermore, HIF-1α and Sema4D expression was significantly correlated with lymphatic metastasis, specific histological types and TNM stages (P < 0.05), but not with age and tumor size (P > 0.05). Sema4D expression was correlated with that of HIF-1α (r = 0.567, P < 0.01). TAMs markedly induced HIF-1α and Sema4D expression in colon cancer cells and subsequently increased their migration and invasion.
CONCLUSIONSHIF-1α and Sema4D expression are closely related to lymphatic metastasis, specific histological types and TNM stages in colon cancer. Furthermore, TAMs promote migration and invasion of colon cancer cells and endothelial tube formation, possibly through up-regulation of HIF-1α and Sema4D.

Objective To investigate the characteristics of functional anatomy of the brain in depression patients with cognitive dysfunction and its pathological basis. Methods Twenty-four patients with first episode of depression, admitted to our hospital from May 2008 to December 2009,and 24 healthy controls, collected at the same time period, were chosen in our study; they were all assessed by Hamilton depression (HAMD) scale and Wisconsin test; fractional anisotropy (FA) values of the various parts of white matter were measured by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI),and functional MRI was performed when the testers were conducting N-back task; the related indicators and imaging results were statistically analyzed. Results The brain areas in the depression group having significant difference as compared with those in the healthy controls (P<0.05) included the bilateral frontal lobes (the leg bilateral frontal lobe,t=-5.884; the right bilateral frontal lobe,t=-4.517),anterior cingulate cortex (t=-14.402) and corpus callosum (t=-3.701).In patients of depression group, the left frontal FA values were negatively correlated with the disease duration (r=-0.555),and FA values of left bilateral frontal lobe and anterior cingulate cortex were negatively correlated to perseverative responses errors (Rpe) and mean response times (mRT,P<0.05); the disease duration was positively correlated to Rpe and mRT (P<0.05).The activating reduced brain areas of the depression group when they were conducting N-back task included bilateral frontal gyrus, left middle frontal gyrus, inferior fiontal gyrus and superior parietal lobule. Conclusion The depression patients have significant cognitive impairment; the damage of frontal white matter fiber and abnormalities of gray matter may be the pathological basis.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2012;29(5):933-940
In this paper, time courses of discrete cortical current sources evoked by target and distractor stimulus are presented in a visual three-stimulus oddball paradigm. 64-channel electroencephalogram (EEG) signals were recorded in healthy subjects in the paradigm where the P3b component of the P300 is evoked in the detection of rare events (target and distractor) and the P3a component is mainly produced by distractor events. A regional source model with constraints of spatial coordinates from fMRI was then applied to event-related potentials (ERPs) data in the target and distractor conditions. Activities of regional sources indicated bilateral inferior parietal lobe, posterior parietal cortex and inferior temporal cortex mainly contribute to the P3b, while the P3a was mainly produced by bilateral insula, bilateral precentral sulcus and cingulate gyrus. Target processing involved parietal lobe, inferior temporal cortex and left insula engaged in stimulus-driven attention process, goal-directed attention process, categorization of visual stimuli and memory retrieval, while distractor processing involved right insula and cingulate gyrus engaged in attention switching and reengagement of attention resource.

Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(12):-
Objective To explore the relationship between plasma 5-HT and patients with sudden deafness and the pathogenesis in sudden deafness. Methods 46 inpatients with sudden deafness as patient group, and 34 healthy as control group. They were determined the plasma 5-HT concentration by immunoradiometric assay, then statistics analysis, and investigated negative life events in one week before admission. Results There is significant difference in 5-HT concentration between two groups. In patient group,35 cases(76%) had anxiety, depression emotion and sleep disorder before attack. Conclusions The high level of the plasma 5-HT concentration is probably one of the mechanisms in the patients of sudden deafness.Whether there is relationship between plasma 5-HT concentration and the degree and prognosis of sudden deafness needs to be further studied.

Journal of Medical Research 2006;0(05):-
Objective To discuss the effectiveness of Austrian Combi40+Cochlear Implant.Method Six cases of deaf children implanted Austrian Combi40+Cochlear Implant during the March,2004 to September,2005 were analyzed retrospectively.Result All cases were implanted successfully without complication. All deaf children acquired hearing of some degree when implant devices were operated in one month later. Also All cases were getting their speech intelligibility improved by hearing and speech rehabilitation. Conclusion The effectiveness of Austrian Combi40+Cochlear Implant is related to the age of deaf children with cochlear implant. The early deaf children get cochlear implant and hearing and speech rehabilitation, the better they have speech intelligibility.
