Objective:To observe the effects of acupuncture and moxibustion at Feishu(BL13)on inflammatory responses and intestinal short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs)in rats with asthma. Methods:Fifty-six Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a normal group(16 rats)and a modeling group(40 rats).Rats in the modeling group were subjected to establishing asthma models using ovalbumin(OVA).Model evaluation was conducted using 4 rats from each group. The remaining rats that successfully developed asthma were then randomly divided into a model group,an acupuncture group, and a moxibustion group, with 12 rats in each group.Rats in the acupuncture group received acupuncture treatments, and those in the moxibustion group received moxibustion treatments, both at Feishu(BL13)for 30 min.Following the treatments, the rats were exposed to atomization excitation with a 1%OVA solution for 20 min daily for 14 consecutive days.At the end of the experiment, inflammatory markers in the rats'peripheral blood were analyzed using a biochemical method. In addition, inflammatory cells in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid(BALF)were counted using Wright-Giemsa staining. The lung tissue of rats was examined under a light microscope after staining with hematoxylin-eosin to observe morphological or pathological changes.Furthermore,real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction was utilized to measure the mRNA expression of inflammatory factors in the lung tissue.Lastly, the concentration of SCFAs in the rat's feces was determined using gas chromatography-hydrogen flame ionization. Results:The levels of eosinophils(Eos),neutrophils(Neu),and lymphocytes(Lym)in the peripheral blood,as well as Eos and Neu in the BALF,and the expression of interleukin(IL)-4,IL-5,IL-13,IL-33,and thymic stromal lymphopoietin(TSLP)mRNAs in the lung tissue were all found to be significantly increased(P<0.05 or P<0.01);the lung tissue structure displayed severe injuries;the levels of acetic acid, propionic acid, isobutyric acid, butyric acid, and valeric acid in the feces decreased significantly in the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Compared with the model group, the peripheral blood levels of Eos,Neu,and Lym,as well as Eos in the BALF,and the mRNA expression levels of IL-4 and IL-5 in the lung tissue decreased significantly in both the acupuncture group and the moxibustion group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).This reduction was accompanied by alleviated pathological damage in the lung tissue.Additionally, there were significant increases in the levels of acetic acid, propionic acid, isobutyric acid, and butyric acid in the feces in both the acupuncture group and the moxibustion group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In the acupuncture group, the expression levels of Lym in the BALF and IL-13 mRNA in the lung tissue decreased significantly(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In the moxibustion group, the mRNA expression levels of IL-33 and TSLP in the lung tissue also reduced significantly(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Furthermore,the level of valeric acid in the feces increased notably in the moxibustion group(P<0.01).Compared with the acupuncture group,it was found that the mRNA levels of IL-5 and IL-13 in the lung tissue,as well as the acetic acid level in the feces, were significantly higher in the moxibustion group(P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion:Both acupuncture and moxibustion were effective in reducing abnormal inflammation and regulating intestinal SCFAs in asthma model rats.Acupuncture demonstrated superiority in inhibiting pro-inflammatory factors, particularly IL-5 and IL-13,while moxibustion exhibited better regulation on intestinal metabolites SCFAs,especially acetic acid.

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of rabies in China from 2007 to 2023, and to provide reference evidence for tailoring strategies to facilitate the elimination of rabies in the country. Methods:Case data from 2007 to 2023 were obtained from China′s National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting Information System, and the spatial, temporal, and demographic features of cases were analyzed. Results:From 2007 to 2023, a total of 18 751 human rabies cases were reported in China, with an average annual incidence rate of 0.08 per 100 000. The average annual percentage change (AAPC) in incidence rate was -18.58% (95% CI: -21.32% to -15.75%, P<0.05), with three significant turning points in 2011, 2018, and 2021. Based on the trend of the epidemic, Chinese provinces can be roughly divided into five categories. The geographical range affected by rabies has decreased from 23 provinces and 984 counties (districts) in 2007 to 17 provinces and 101 counties (districts) in 2023. Since 2019, the high-incidence counties (districts) have been mainly concentrated in the southwestern part of Hunan, the southern part of Henan, and the western part of Anhui. Fourteen provinces have reported no cases for at least two consecutive years. Males (70.24%) and farmers (72.18%) were the main affected groups, and the proportion of cases aged 65 and above increased from 17.43% in 2007 to 36.07% in 2023. Conclusions:The incidence of rabies in China has changed from endemic in many areas to sporadic, with the remaining endemic regions mainly located in parts of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The main vulnerable groups are middle-aged and elderly farmers. The current prevention and control measures can effectively curb the transmission of rabies, but the decline of cases has slowed down recently.

Metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of cancer, including lung cancer. However, the exact underlying mechanism and therapeutic potential are largely unknown. Here we report that protein arginine methyltransferase 6 (PRMT6) is highly expressed in lung cancer and is required for cell metabolism, tumorigenicity, and cisplatin response of lung cancer. PRMT6 regulated the oxidative pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) flux and glycolysis pathway in human lung cancer by increasing the activity of 6-phospho-gluconate dehydrogenase (6PGD) and α-enolase (ENO1). Furthermore, PRMT6 methylated R324 of 6PGD to enhancing its activity; while methylation at R9 and R372 of ENO1 promotes formation of active ENO1 dimers and 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PG) binding to ENO1, respectively. Lastly, targeting PRMT6 blocked the oxidative PPP flux, glycolysis pathway, and tumor growth, as well as enhanced the anti-tumor effects of cisplatin in lung cancer. Together, this study demonstrates that PRMT6 acts as a post-translational modification (PTM) regulator of glucose metabolism, which leads to the pathogenesis of lung cancer. It was proven that the PRMT6-6PGD/ENO1 regulatory axis is an important determinant of carcinogenesis and may become a promising cancer therapeutic strategy.

A series of 2-(((5-akly/aryl-1-pyrazol-3-yl)methyl)thio)-5-alkyl-6-(cyclohexylmethyl)-pyrimidin-4(3)-ones were synthesized and their anti-HIV-1 activities were evaluated. Most of these compounds were highly active against wild-type (WT) HIV-1 strain (IIIB) with EC values in the range of 0.0038-0.4759 μmol/L. Among those compounds, had an EC value of 3.8 nmol/L and SI (selectivity index) of up to 25,468 indicating excellent activity against WT HIV-1. anti-HIV-1 activity and resistance profile studies suggested that compounds and displayed potential anti-HIV-1 activity against laboratory adapted strains and primary isolated strains including different subtypes and tropism strains (ECs range from 4.3 to 63.6 nmol/L and 18.9-219.3 nmol/L, respectively). On the other hand, it was observed that those two compounds were less effective with EC values of 2.77 and 4.87 μmol/L for HIV-1A (K103N + Y181C). The activity against reverse transcriptase (RT) was also evaluated for those compounds. Both and obtained sub-micromolar IC values showing their potential in RT inhibition. The pharmacokinetics examination in rats indicated that compound has acceptable pharmacokinetic properties and bioavailability. Preliminary structure-activity relationships and molecular modeling studies were also discussed.

The mandibular first premolar has complicated morphology of root canal, it has more variation which increases the incidence of multiple root canals. A successful root canal therapy not only need strict cleaning, disinfection and filling, but also need a correct understanding of root canal morphology and anatomy. Otherwise there might be a risk of missing canals that resulting the failure of the therapy. Also crown closure is one of the successful elements of root canal therapy. This is a case report accompanied by a review of the literature that shows the unusual anatomy of the mandibular first molar with three roots and three root canals.
10.Assess the nutritional status of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by SGA
Tianjin Medical Journal 2015;(8):886-888
Objective To explore the subjective global assessment (SGA) to evaluate the nutritional status of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods Patients with stable COPD (n=122) were included and divid?ed into three groups base on their SGA scores:SGA-A (n=21), SGA-B (n=57), SGA-C (n=44). Nutritional status of all pa?tients was assessed by SGA. Anthropometric measurement, biochemical test, pulmonary function test, COPD assessment test (CAT) and shuttle walking test (SWT) were studied between all three groups to search statistical significance and correlation with SGA. Results Body mass index(BMI), arm muscle circumference (AMC) and forced expiratory volume in the first sec?ond%of predicted (FEV1%Pred) were all lower in SGA-B and SGA-C than those in SGA-A(P<0.05),there were no statis?tical differences of these parameters between SGA-B and SGA-C. Triceps skin fold (TSF) was lower in SGA-C than that in SGA-B than that in SGA-A, while CAT score is the reverse order (P<0.05). The walking distance of incremental shuttle walking test (ISWI) and the endurance time of endurance shuttle walking test (ESWI) were lower in SGA-C than that in SGA-A (P<0.05). There were no statistical differences of forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1)/forced vital ca?pacity(FVC), biochemical parameters between all three groups. SGA scores correlated positively with CAT and negatively with anthropometric parameters, FEV1%Pred and SWT (P<0.05). However no correlations was deduced between SGA scores with FEV1/FVC and biochemical parameters. Conclusion SGA scores correlated with anthropometric parameters, FEV1%Pred, CAT and SWT. SGA is an effective method to assess the nutritional status in patients with stable COPD.
