Advances in imaging technology have revolutionized the field of ophthalmology, changing the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of ophthalmic diseases. Swept-source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT)is a non-contact high-resolution imaging technology. It further improves imaging depth and scanning speed, adds new algorithms and features. The application of SS-OCT enables the three-dimensional evaluation of corneal structures, offering curvature and height maps for both the anterior and posterior surfaces of the cornea, as well as precise corneal thickness mapping. These invaluable tools aid ophthalmologists in effectively screening and diagnosing various corneal lesions such as keratoconus, corneal dystrophy, and degeneration. Moreover, the enhanced speed, accuracy, and sensitivity provided by SS-OCT measurements facilitate improved surgical planning and postoperative monitoring for patients undergoing refractive surgery or keratoplasty. This article reviews the development of SS-OCT technology and its potential clinical utility in corneal diseases and surgical application, in order to support more possible future research and clinical treatment.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) combined with task-oriented rehabilitation training single pellet reaching and grasping (SPG) on the motor function of forelimb in rats with unilateral contusion of C5 spinal cord. MethodsA total of 60 adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham operation group (sham group), spinal cord injury (SCI) group, tDCS group, SPG group, false group and tDCS+SPG group, with ten rats in each group. Only C5 lamina was removed in the sham group, and the C5 spinal cord contusion model was established by IH spinal cord impactor in the other five groups. The rats received tDCS in tDCS group, SPG in SPG group, tDCS without current in false group, tDCS combined with SPG in tDCS+SPG group, and no treatment in the SCI and the sham groups. The rats were evaluated with Rearing and Grooming tests, and motor-evoked potential (MEP). ResultsFour weeks after operation, compared with SCI group, the scores of Rearing and Grooming increased in tDCS group and tDCS+SPG group (P < 0.05), and they were more in the tDCS+SPG group than in tDCS group and SPG group (P < 0.05); the score of Grooming increased in SPG group (P < 0.05); while the amplitude of MEP increased in tDCS group, SPG group and tDCS+SPG group (P < 0.05), and the latency shortened in tDCS group and tDCS+SPG group (P < 0.05); and the amplitude increased more in tDCS+SPG group than in tDCS group and SPG group (P < 0.01). ConclusiontDCS could promote the recovery of motor function in rats with SCI, and the combination therapy of tDCS and task-oriented rehabilitation training is more effective.

Objective To investigate HPV vaccine hesitancy and influencing factors among parents of primary and secondary schools in Guangyuan, and to provide scientific countermeasures for reducing the hesitancy rate of HPV vaccine in parents. Methods Using stratified multi-stage cluster random sampling, 1,018 parents of girls in primary and secondary schools in Guangyuan were selected for a questionnaire survey from March to July 2021. The data were analyzed by Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression model. Results The hesitancy rate of HPV vaccine in parents was 42.95%. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that families with low economic income, parents who believed that HPV vaccination would have long-term side effects, and be unsafe and expensive, and parents who concerned with the effect of HPV vaccine on the prevention of cervical cancer and insufficient supply of first doses of vaccine, had positive effects on HPV vaccine hesitancy (OR = 2.02, 1.44, 3.13, 1.53, 3.76, and 2.43, respectively, P < 0.05). Conclusion HPV vaccine hesitancy rate is high among parents of primary and secondary schools in Guangyuan. It is necessary to fully promote school education and increase the publicity of HPV vaccine to improve parents' awareness of HPV vaccine. Government departments need to make an overall plan to reduce vaccine costs and ensure sufficient vaccine quantity, so as to reduce parents' hesitation to vaccinate their children with HPV vaccine.

Recurrent seizures lead to abnormal expression of synaptic proteins, reorganization of synapse and formation of abnormal neuron network.Recently,it is identified that the synaptic proteins are involved in epileptogenesis. The abnormal expression of several synaptic regulatory proteins and postsynaptic membrane receptor proteins may result in epilepsy. The ion channels usually are the action target of most antiepileptic drugs. However, carbamazepine and zonisamide may interact with syntaxin and/or soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor complex to exert its function of anti-epilepsy.The synaptic vesicle protein 2A is the action target for new anti-epileptic drugs, including levetiracetam, brivaracetam and seletracetam.

Objective Toinvestigatetheeffectofrehabilitationrobothandontheupperlimbmotor functioninpatientswithstrokeandhemiplegia. Methods Theeffectsoftraditionalrehabilitation therapy or robot rehabilitation treatment of 15 stroke patients with hemiplegia were analyzed retrospectively. There were 4 females and 11 males. According to the group order, they were divided into either a robot rehabilitation group (n=8 )or a general rehabilitation group (n =7 ). The patients of the general rehabilitation group received general rehabilitation training at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine for 4 weeks,3 times a week, and 30 min for each time. At the same time, they also conducted family rehabilitation training,5 times a week, once for 1 h;the patients of the robot rehabilitation group received the general rehabilitation training for the same length of time as the general rehabilitation group, and they also performed robot rehabilitation training,5 times a week, once for 1 h. The patients of both groups were evaluated with the modified Ashworth scale (MAS )scores,Fugl-Meyer motor assessment of the upper extremity(FMA-UE),andWolfmotorfunctiontest(WMFT)beforeandaftertreatment.Results Compared with before training, the MAS score of the robot rehabilitation group was decreased significantly after four weeks of training. The time in WMFT was shortened significantly and the function score was improved obviously. The scores of upper extremity, hand score, and total FMA score in FMA-UE were improved significantly, and there were significant differences (all P <0. 05 ),while there were no significant differences in various indicators in the general rehabilitation group (all P>0. 05). Comparing the effects after four weeks of rehabilitation in both groups, the robot rehabilitation group was superior to the general rehabilitationgroupforthehandscoreinFMA-UE(allP<0.05).Conclusion Therehabilitation robot hand effectively lowered the upper limb spasticity. It has significant effect for recovery motor function of hand;however,it did not have a significant effect for motor rehabilitation on wrist.

Objective To explore the effect of hypoxia on exosomes secreted by renal tubular epithelial cells and the function of exosomes in chronic kidney diseases. Methods (1) The supernatant of renal tubular epithelial cells which were cultured in normoxia (21% O2) or hypoxia(1% O2) for 48 h was collected and centrifuged gradiently to harvest exosomes.Exosomes were identified and compared by transmission electron microscope, nanoparticle tracking analysis, Western blotting and measurement of the protein concentration.(2) Primary peritoneal macrophages of rats were co-cultured with exosomes in different concentrations (1, 10, 50, 100, 300 mg/L).The expression of interleukin-6(IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in cells and supernatant were separately detected by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and ELISA, and the expression of phospho (p)-STAT/STAT and suppressors of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) in macrophages was detected by Western blotting. At last, the expression of inflammatory microRNAs (miR) in exosomes was measured by qRT-PCR.Results (1) The vesicles harvested by gradient centrifugation were less than 150 nm and expressed CD63 which was characteristic of exosomes.Hypoxia had no effect on the morphology of exosomes, but stimulated their secretion.(2) Hypoxic exosomes dose-dependently improved the expression of IL-6, TNF-α, iNOS in macrophages polarized by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and increased the expression of p-STAT while decreased the expression of SOCS1 (P < 0.01).MicroRNAs referred to inflammation such as miR-155 and miR-27a increased in hypoxic exosomes compared to that in normoxic exosomes (P < 0.05).Conclusions Hypoxia makes exosomes promoted the polarization of macrophages to M1, which may account for the microinflammation in chronic kidney diseases.

Objective To explore the detailed underlying molecular and signaling mechanisms in the effects of icariin on bone formation by an in vitro cell model. Methods The proliferation of MC3T3-E1 osteoblast-like cells was evaluated by MTT, and gene expression of cell cycle related proteins in MC3T3-E1 cells after icariin treatment was detected by real-time PCR. The phosphorylation of MAPK signals, including ERK, P38, and JNK was determined by Western blot, and then the inhibitors of MAPK signals were used to treat cells with icariin alone or together to determine the role of MAPKs in the process of icariin treatment on MC3T3-E1 cell proliferation. Alkaline phosphatase and Alizarin red staining were used to detect the formation of mineralization nodules, and gene expressions of alkaline phosphatase, type Ⅰ collagen, and osteocalcin in osteoblasts after being treated by icariin were evaluated by real-time PCR. ICI182780, and nilutamide was used to decide the participation of estrogen and androgen receptor signals in the process of icariin treatment on the differentiation and mineralization of MC3T3-E1 cells. Results Treatment with icariin promoted MC3T3-E1 cell growth in a time- and dose-dependent manner. This treatment also revealed that icariin increased the expression of mRNAs encoding both cyclin E and PCNA, positive regulators of cell growth, but decreased levels of mRNAs encoding Cdkn2b, a negative regulator of cell cycle progression. When MC3T3-E1 cells were cultured in a differentiated condition, icariin enhanced mineralized nodule formation and increased the expression of mRNAs encoding alkaline phosphatase, type Ⅰ collagen, and osteocalcin. Treatment with icariin significantly induced phosphorylation of both ERK and JNK and this phosphorylated effect occurred very rapidly within 5 minutes and reached peak at 15 minutes. Furthermore, the stimulated effects of icariin on proliferation and gene expression of cyclin E, PCNA, and Cdkn2b in MC3T3-E1 cells were dramatically attenuated by treatment with both U0126 and SP600125, inhibitors of MAPKs. Interestingly, such stimulating effects of icariin were at least partly reduced by treatment with ICI182780, an inhibitor of estrogen receptor. Icariin induced mineralized nodule formation and gene expression of alkaline phosphatase, type Ⅰ collagen, and osteocalcin in MC3T3-E1 cells were also partly reduced when the cells were treated with ICI182780. Conclusions Our findings indicate that the anabolic effect of icariin on bone formation is, at least partly, mediated through the MAPK signaling pathway in order to modulate osteoblast proliferation and differentiation.
