1.Impact of peripheral blood inflammatory markers on neovascular glaucoma secondary to diabetic retinopathy

		                        			 AIM: To investigate the influence of relevant inflammatory markers in peripheral blood on the progression of neovascular glaucoma(NVG)secondary to diabetic retinopathy(DR)patients.METHODS: Retrospective case-control study. Patients were categorized into two groups based on the presence or absence of NVG: those with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)alone(PDR group, n=148)and those with NVG secondary to PDR(NVG secondary to PDR group, n=142). Peripheral blood inflammatory markers were evaluated, including white blood cell-related indices, neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio(MLR), and systemic immune-inflammation index(SII). The distinctions in peripheral blood inflammatory markers between the two groups of patients and their relationships with NVG secondary to PDR were analyzed.RESULTS:No statistically significant differences were observed in basic characteristics between the two groups, confirming their comparability. However, significant differences were found in eosinophil percentage and MLR between the PDR group and the NVG secondary to PDR group(all P<0.05), with both values being significantly higher in the NVG secondary to PDR group. Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that the eosinophil percentage and the MLR were factors influencing the development of patients with NVG secondary to PDR.CONCLUSION: Eosinophil percentage and MLR may be associated with the progression of PDR to NVG, and could serve as potential predictive markers for NVG development in PDR patients. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
2.Relationship of parental anger expression and symptoms in children with oppositional defiant disorder

		                        			Objective:This study is to investigate the relationship of parental anger expression and symptoms in children with oppositional defiant disorder(ODD).Methods:Forty-six children with ODD and 46 age-gender-matched normal children participated.The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders,Fifth Edition(DSM-5),guided the diagnoses.Parental anger expression and children's anger management were assessed using the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2 and Children Emotion Management Scales.Results:ODD symptoms were directly predicted by maternal anger index(AI)(β=0.13,P<0.05)and anger expression-out(AX-O)(β=0.25,P<0.05).Children's anger cope(AC)played a mediating function to maternal AI through ODD symptoms,occupying 13%of the total effect;their AC and anger dysregulation(AD)played a mediating function to maternal AX-Othrough ODD symptoms,accounting for 29%and 18%of the total effect,respectively.Conclusion:It sug-gests that anger cope and anger dysregulation in children with oppositional defiant disordermay may play a media-ting role between maternal anger expression and oppositional defiant disorder symptoms.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
3.Trajectory of perioperative symptom cluster in middle-aged and elderly patients with gynecological malignant tumors: a longitudinal study

		                        			Objective:To explore the composition and trajectory of symptom clusters during perioperative period in middle-aged and elderly patients with gynecological malignant tumors, so as to provide reference for formulating symptom management programs.Methods:From December 2022 to September 2023, convenience sampling was used to select 145 middle-aged and elderly patients with gynecological malignant tumors who underwent surgical treatment at the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University as the study subject. A longitudinal survey was conducted on patients at four time points [1 day before surgery (T1), 1 day after surgery (T2), 3 days after surgery (T3), and 7 days after surgery (T4, before discharge) ] using the General Information Questionnaire and the Chinese version of the Anderson Symptom Inventory-Perioperative Module in Patients with Gynecological Cancer.Results:A total of 145 questionnaires were distributed, and 130 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective response rate of 89.66% (130/145). Exploratory factor analysis extracted six symptom clusters, namely perimenopausal symptom cluster, psychological symptom cluster, fatigue-pain symptom cluster, gastrointestinal symptom cluster, energy deficiency symptom cluster, and surgery related symptom cluster. Perimenopausal symptom group was a specific symptom cluster of gynecological malignant tumor patients, existing at T1. Psychological symptom cluster persisted during the patient's perioperative period. Fatigue-pain symptom cluster and surgery related symptom cluster existed at T2 to T4. Gastrointestinal symptom cluster and energy deficiency symptom cluster existed at T2 and T3.Conclusions:Middle aged and elderly patients with gynecological malignant tumors have various symptoms during the perioperative period, and the symptoms can cluster at different time points. The number of symptom clusters increases with the progress of surgical treatment, while the core symptoms within the cluster remain relatively stable over time. Clinical nursing staff should pay attention to the dynamic changes in the patient's perioperative symptom cluster, adopt efficient and targeted management measures based on the trajectory of symptom clusters, and reduce the burden of perioperative symptoms on patients.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
4.Effects of trehalose on oxygen-glucose deprivation and restoration injury in H9C2 cells and the role of SLC7A11-GPX4 signaling pathway

		                        			Objective:To evaluate the effect of trehalose on oxygen-glucose deprivation and restoration (OGD/R) injury in H9C2 cells and the role of solute carrier family 7 member 11- (SLC7A11)-glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) signaling pathway.Methods:Well-grown H9C2 cells were divided into 4 groups ( n=24 each) by the random number table method: control group (group C), OGD/R group (group O), OGD/R+ trehalose group (group OT) and OGD/R+ trehalose+ erastin group (group OTE). The cells were normally cultured in group C. In O, OT and OTE groups, the DMEM medium was replaced with EBSS medium, the cells were exposed to 5% CO 2-95% N 2 in an incubator at 37 ℃ for 6 h, and then the medium was replaced with DMEM medium supplemented with 6% fetal bovine serum to restore oxygen and glucose supply for 24 h. In group OT, trehalose at a final concentration of 50 mmol/L was added during restoration of oxygen and glucose supply. In group OTE, the SLC7A11 inhibitor erastin at a final concentration of 10 μmol/L was added at 8 h before oxygen-glucose deprivation, and trehalose at a final concentration of 50 mmol/L was added during restoration of oxygen and glucose supply. The cell viability, lactic dehydrogenase (LDH) activity, contents of glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA) and iron, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels were measured at 24 h of restoration of oxygen and glucose supply. The expression of SLC7A11, GPX4, long-chain fatty acyl coenzyme A synthetase 4 (ACSL4), and ferritin heavy chain 1 (FTH1) was detected by Western blot. The structure of the mitochondrial morphology was observed with a transmission electron microscope. Results:Compared with group C, the cell viability and GSH content were significantly decreased, the LDH activity, contents of MDA and iron, and ROS level were increased, the expression of SLC7A11, GPX4 and FTH1 was down-regulated, and the expression of ACSL4 was up-regulated in group O ( P<0.05). Compared with group O, the cell viability and GSH content were significantly increased, the LDH activity, contents of MDA and iron, and ROS level were decreased, the expression of SLC7A11, GPX4 and FTH1 was up-regulated, and the expression of ACSL4 was down-regulated in group OT ( P<0.05). Compared with group OT, the cell viability and GSH content were significantly decreased, the LDH activity, contents of MDA and iron, and ROS levels were increased, the expression of SLC7A11, GPX4 and FTH1 was down-regulated, and the expression of ACSL4 was up-regulated in group OTE ( P<0.05). Conclusions:Trehalose can inhibit ferroptosis by activating the SLC7A11-GPX4 signaling pathway, thereby attenuating OGD/R injury in H9C2 cells.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
5.Targeted muscle reinnervation: a surgical technique of human-machine interface for intelligent prosthesis.

		                        			OBJECTIVE:
		                        			To review targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) surgery for the construction of intelligent prosthetic human-machine interface, thus providing a new clinical intervention paradigm for the functional reconstruction of residual limbs in amputees.
		                        		
		                        			METHODS:
		                        			Extensively consulted relevant literature domestically and abroad and systematically expounded the surgical requirements of intelligent prosthetics, TMR operation plan, target population, prognosis, as well as the development and future of TMR.
		                        		
		                        			RESULTS:
		                        			TMR facilitates intuitive control of intelligent prostheses in amputees by reconstructing the "brain-spinal cord-peripheral nerve-skeletal muscle" neurotransmission pathway and increasing the surface electromyographic signals required for pattern recognition. TMR surgery for different purposes is suitable for different target populations.
		                        		
		                        			CONCLUSION
		                        			TMR surgery has been certified abroad as a transformative technology for improving prosthetic manipulation, and is expected to become a new clinical paradigm for 2 million amputees in China.

6.Clinical and genetic characteristics and differential diagnosis in children with autosomal dominant hyper-IgE syndrome

		                        			Objective:To summarize the clinical features of children with autosomal dominant hyper-IgE syndrome (AD-HIES) and the differential diagnosis of hyper-IgE syndrome and allergic diseases as well.Methods:All clinical data, including general information, clinical features, and genetic changes, from 7 children with AD-HIES who were diagnosed in Beijing Children′s Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from April 2016 to June 2020 were analyzed retrospectively.The diagnostic criteria are based on the National Institutes of Health′s (NIH)′s hyper-IgE syndrome score and combined with the results of gene detection, shown as follows: (1) NIH score over 40, with signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 gene ( STAT3) pathogenic mutation; (2) NIH score between 20 and 40, with reported STAT3 pathogenic mutation; (3) NIH score less than 20 points was excluded. Results:There were 3 males and 4 females.The onset age of 7 cases was within 2 months after birth, and the mean age at diagnosis was 3 years old.All seven cases had recurrent skin or lung infections, with 4 cases having skin and lung infections, 1 case of skin abscesses at the BCG vaccination site, and 2 cases without skin infection suffering from recurrent pneumonia.The mean onset age of skin abscess in 5 cases was 1.5 years, and pus culture of 3 cases were Staphylococcus aureus.Four cases developed bullae and 6 cases had lung infections.Four cases had otitis media, and oral thrush was seen in 4 cases.One case of skin and lung infection developed liver abscess and sepsis.Seven cases had eczema, which was disco-vered in the neonatal period for 6 cases.Four cases had the symptoms of eczema for the first visit.Two cases had food allergy, and 1 case had recurrent wheezing within 1 year old.The serum IgE level and blood eosinophil count in 7 children were elevated.All children had heterozygous pathogenic mutations in STAT3.Six patients had de novo mutations.There were 6 different mutation sites.The 4 mutation sites were reported: c.1145G>A, c.1144C>T, and c. 1699A>G were missense mutations, and c. 1139+ 5G>A was splicing mutation.Two mutation sites had not been reported: c.1031A>C was missense mutation, and c. 2050G>T was nonsense mutation.The pathogenic grade of them were likely pathogenic, and the NIH score of 2 cases were above 40 score, which was consistent with the clinical diagnosis of hyper-IgE syndrome. Conclusions:Eczema is a common and early clinical manifestation of hyper-IgE syndrome, along with elevated IgE levels and eosinophil counts that need to be differentiated from allergic diseases.On the contrary, it often had recurrent skin abscesses or pneumonia, which was prone to bullae.The clinical manifestations of young children were atypical, and genetic testing was helpful for early diagnosis.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
7.Etiological analysis of pleural effusion in children in Beijing Children′s Hospital

		                        			Objective:To investigate the etiology of pleural effusion in hospitalized children in Beijing Children′s Hospital.Methods:Clinical information of children with pleural effusion admitted to Beijing Children′s Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January 2016 to December 2018 was retrospectively analyzed.According to the etiology, the children were divided into infection group (parapneumonic pleural effusion, tuberculous pleurisy and empyema) and non infection group.According to the age, the children were further divided into ≤ 3 years old, >3-7 years old and > 7 years old groups.Classification of statistics was performed, and the etiology of pleural effusion were retrospectively analyzed.Results:Among the 1 165 children with pleural effusion, 746 cases(64.0%) were infected with pleural effusion, 697 cases (697/746, 93.4%) of who were parapneumonic effusion.In patients with parapneumonic effusion, 457 cases (61.3%) had Mycoplasma pneumonia (MP) infection.Infectious pleural effusion was more common in children >7 years old(339/479 cases, 70.8%), while non-infectious pleural effusion was prevalent in children under 3 years old(188/324 cases, 58.0%). The difference was statistically significant ( χ2=96.33, P<0.05). Among the patients with non-infectious pleural effusion, 239 cases (239/419 cases, 57.0%) had multi-system diseases and 97 cases (97/419 cases, 23.2%) had malignant pleural effusion.All the 18 deaths were non-infectious pleural effusion. Conclusions:The leading reason for pleural effusion in children is infection.The most prevalent symptom is parapneumonic effusion, which is mainly caused by MP.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
8.Study on the effect of antibiotics application in perioperative period on carotid artery and serum interleukin-6 in periodontitis rats with hyperlipidemia or diabetes

		                        			Objective:To investigate the effect of antibiotics application in perioperative period on carotid artery and serum interluekin-6 (IL-6) in chronic periodontitis (CP) rats with hyperlipidemia (HL) or diabetes mellitus (DM).Methods:The models of CP rats with HL or DM were established in different batches. The rats were divided into groups as follows: A and A' were normal control groups, n=7 in each group; B(HL) and B'(DM) were groups of HL and DM, n=7 in each; C(HL+CP) and C'(DM+CP) were groups of CP with HL and CP with DM, n=21 in each. After the establishment of the models, groups C and C' were divided into C1 and C1' non-intervention group, C2 and C2' simple tooth extraction group and C3 and C3' antibiotic-assisted tooth extraction, with 7 rats in each of the groups. Two time interventions were performed to extract experimental teeth (bilateral maxillary first and second molars) in groups C2, C2', C3 and C3'. Serum samples were collected at 5 time points before and after tooth extraction (T1: before the first tooth extraction; T2: one week after the first tooth extraction; T3, T4, T5: the first, third and fifth week after the second tooth extraction), respectively. The absolute content of IL-6 in serum was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ratio of the absolute content in the experimental groups and control groups were calculated as the relative content of IL-6. At the end of the experiments, all rats were euthanasia and the bifurcation vascular tissues of carotid artery were collected for the observation of the carotid artery pathology and plaque formation and the measurement of the thickness of carotid intimal-medial layer (IMT). Results:Carotid artery pathology observation showed the IMT in group C was significantly thickened and the group C2 was the most thickened one (compared with group A, P<0.01). Elastic fibers in groups C1 and C2 were disordered or even broken and disappeared, presenting typical atherosclerotic plaques, which were diffuse calcium salt deposits in the intimal-medial layers and protrude into the lumen. Elastic fibers in group C3 were ranged in ordered relatively without obvious fracture and the number of plaques was significantly reduced. The vascular walls in rats of groups B' and C' were incomplete, the IMTs had no obvious changes, elastic fibers were ranged disorderly and broken and the smooth muscle cells had vacuolar changes. In group C2', the vascular wall was significantly thinned and calcified plaques appeared in the artery, which showed multiple calcification lesions penetrating through the intimal-medial layer or even the whole layer. The vascular wall of group C3' was integrity and the elastic fibers arranged relatively clutter-free, the number of plaques was reduced. Results of detections of IL-6 showed the relative contents of IL-6 in groups B, B', C1, and C1' increased with time. At T3 time point, the relative contents of IL-6 in groups C2 and C3 reached the peak, C2 was 10.4 times of group A and C3 was 9.5 times of group A, and then decreased to different low levels. At T5 point, comparisons of the relative contents of IL-6 showed C3 < C2 < C1 (3.2 times, 5.4 times, 9.6 times of group A, respectively). The relative contents of IL-6 in groups C2' and C3' reached the peak at T2 point (4.9 times and 4.5 times of group A, respectively), and then decline with time. At T5 point, comparisons of the relative contents of IL-6 showed C3'< C2'< C1' (1.2 times, 1.4 times and 3.1 times of group A, respectively). Conclusions:Blood vessels were observed more obvious thickened in the tooth extraction without antibiotic of HL+CP rats with calcifications increase. Blood vessels of DM+CP rats became thin and fragile and even the integrity was damaged. 9.Serum cytokines and chemokines in patients with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome

		                        			Objective:Serum cytokines and chemokines in patients with fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) and the severity of the disease was studied.Methods:Serum of 47 SFTS patients from 2014 to 2017 in Jinan city was collected. Serum of 11 dead patients and 36 survivors were selected as the survival group and serum of 10 healthy people was selected as the control group. Luminex liquid phase chip was used to detect and analyze the expression levels of 40 cytokines and chemokines in peripheral blood.Results:The expression levels of 27 cytokines and chemokines in the death group were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P<0.05). The expression level of 33 cytokines and chemokines in the death group was significantly higher than that in the survival group ( P<0.05). The expression level of 12 cytokines and chemokines in the survival group was significantly higher than that in the control group ( P<0.05). The expression levels of 10 cytokines and chemokines in the patients were increased in different degrees during the recovery period compared with the acute period ( P<0.05). The expression levels of 5 cytokines and chemokines were lower in the recovery period than in the acute period ( P<0.05). Receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve) analysis showed that 22 factors were statistically significant and could be used as biomarkers to predict the severity of the disease. Conclusions:The expression levels of various cytokines and chemokines in serum of SFTS patients changed significantly during the development of the disease and the cytokine storm caused by SFTS may be the cause of death.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
10.The promoting effect of ultrasound targeted microbubble destruction on establishment of type Ⅰ diabetic nephropathy in rats

		                        			Objective To explore the feasibility of the promoting effect of ultrasound targeted microbubble destruction(UTMD) on establishment of type Ⅰ diabetic nephropathy in rats.Methods Forty male SD rats were randomly and equally divided into four groups(n =10):control group(group A),streptozocin group(group B),streptozocin and ultrasound microbubble group(group C) and streptozocin and UTMD group(group D).The fasting blood-glucose (FBG) were tested,the 24 h's urine were collected and the 24 h's urine mieroalbumin(mAlb) were measured and then urinary albumin excretion rate(UAER) were calculated twice a week at fixed time in all groups.When greater than 3-fold increase in UAER compared with controls at the same age and gender,the diabetic nephropathy model in rats was considered to be established successfully,then the change of time and weighed were recorded and rats were killed and collected the blood of left atrial appendage to measure,blood urea nitrogen (BUN),serum creatinine (SCr) and Alanine aminotransferase (ALT).The left kidneys were weighted and then observed glomerular pathological changes under light microscope and detected the expression of CD34 in kidney of rats in each group by immunohistochemical method.Results ①The time of establishing diabetic nephropathy model in group D was obviously shorter than that in group B and C (all P < 0.05).The FBG,the kidney index,UAER,BUN and Scr values in group B,C and D were significantly higher than those in group A(all P <0.05),but ALT had no significant change among each groups(all P >0.05).②The pathological changes of diabetic nephropathy appeared in rats of group B,C and D;the expression of CD34 in B,C and D groups were raised.Conclusions UTMD can obviously shorten the molding time of type Ⅰ diabetic nephropathy rats,which has feasibility.
