Clinical Medicine of China 2023;39(3):218-222
Objective:To investigate the effect of galactose lectin 3 (Gal-3) on the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation. Methods:This study adopts a case-control study method. 55 patients with non valvular atrial fibrillation (atrial fibrillation group) admitted to the First People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine from February to July 2019 were selected, and another 55 healthy individuals who underwent physical examination at our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. Compare the general data and levels of various laboratory indicators between two groups, including blood routine, fasting blood glucose, blood lipids, liver and kidney function, and plasma Gal-3. Analyze the influencing factors of atrial fibrillation and the predictive value of plasma Gal-3 levels for the onset of atrial fibrillation. The measurement data with normal distribution and the measurement data converted to normal distribution after taking natural logarithm are expressed in xˉ± s. The comparison between the two groups is performed by independent sample t test; The measurement data of non normal distribution is represented by [ M ( Q1, Q3)], and Wilcoxon signed rank sum test is used for inter group comparison; The counting data is represented by examples (%), and the comparison between groups is conducted using χ 2 test. The influencing factors of atrial fibrillation were analyzed using logistic regression analysis. Results:The age, NLR, and blood creatinine levels in the atrial fibrillation group were higher than those in the control group [(71.16±9.17) years vs (60.71±10.11) years, (2.32±0.85) vs (1.74±0.81), (74.18±21.61) μmol/L vs (64.69±18.30) μmol/L, t-values are 5.68, 3.66, 2.48, P-values are <0.001, <0.001, 0.015], total cholesterol, HDL-C, LDL-C Albumin and eGFR water were on average lower than those in the control group [(4.31±1.67) mmol/L vs (5.13±0.78) mmol/L, (0.96±0.21) mmol/L vs (1.21±0.32) mmol/L, (2.35±0.65) mmol/L vs (3.04±0.62) mmol/L, (39.58±3.83) g/L vs (44.66±5.61) g/L, (94.84±29.22) mL/(min·1.73 m 2) vs (111.77±21.51) mL/(min·1.73 m 2)] ,The t-values are 3.30, 4.87, 5.69, 5.54, 3.46, and the P-values are 0.001,<0.001,<0.001,<0.001, 0.001, respectively. The plasma Gal-3 levels in the atrial fibrillation group were higher than those in the control group [(12.79±4.24)] μg/L vs (7.31±2.28) μg/L], the difference was statistically significant ( t=8.43, P<0.001), and the plasma Gal-3 level in the persistent atrial fibrillation group was higher than that in the paroxysmal atrial fibrillation group [(14.03±3.95) μg/L vs (11.51±4.21) μg/L], the difference was statistically significant ( t=2.29, P=0.026). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that after excluding other factors, Gal-3 remained an independent influencing factor for atrial fibrillation (odds ratio=1.66, 95% confidence interval: 1.29-2.12, P<0.001). Conclusions:Plasma Gal-3 is an influencing factor for the onset of atrial fibrillation. After excluding other factors, Gal-3 remains an independent influencing factor for atrial fibrillation, with an increase of 1 μg/L in Gal-3 increases the risk of atrial fibrillation by 1.66 times.

Objective:
To analyze the influence of reproductive health education in middle school on self efficacy and intention of condom use among college freshmen, so as to provide evidence for fertility protection related intervention and policy making.
Methods:
A questionnaire survey was conducted among college freshmen in Beijing by hierarchical cluster sampling method. A total of 3 001 students were surveyed. The difference was compared by using χ 2 test and ANOVA. Multivariate linear and Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors associated with condom use self efficacy and condom use intention.
Results:
The overall rate that reproductive health education received before college among freshmen in Beijing was 65.11%. The college freshmen from urban areas reported more adequate reproductive health education (71.11%) than those from non urban areas before college (59.36%)( P <0.05). The total scores of UNGASS (4.22±0.90 vs 4.05±0.98), condom use self efficacy (24.64±5.34 vs 23.09±4.93) and the intention of condom use (82.44% vs 70.88%) of college freshmen received reproductive health education in middle school were higher than those of college students without pre college reproductive health education( P <0.01). Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the score of condom use self efficacy of college students received pre college reproductive health education was higher than those without pre college reproductive health education( β =1.21, 95% CI =0.79-1.63, P <0.01). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that reproductive health, the intention of condom use of college freshmen who received pre college reproductive health education was higher than that of college freshmen without reproductive health education( OR =1.63, 95% CI =1.33-2.01, P <0.01).
Conclusion
Reproductive health education in middle school can improve college freshmen s self efficacy and intention of condom use, contribute to the implementation of safe sex, and is of great significance to the protection of college students fertility.

To explore the mechanism of tea albino variation and high theanine formation, 'Fuyun 6' and a new theanine-rich tea cultivar 'Fuhuang 2' were as materials in this study, pigment content, metabolome and transcriptome of the two cultivars were analyzed by ultramicroelectron microscopy, widely targeted metabolomics, targeted metabolomics and transcriptomics. The results showed that five catechins, theobromine, caffeine, and 20 free amino acids, including theanine, glutamine, arginine, etc., were identified by targeted metabolomics. The amino acid content of 'Fuhuang 2' was significantly higher than that of 'Fuyun 6', and the theanine content was as high as 57.37 mg/g in 'Fuhuang 2'. The ultrastructure of leaves showed that the chloroplast cell structure of 'Fuhuang 2' was fuzzy, most of the grana lamellae were arranged in disorder, with large gaps, and the thylakoids were filiform. The determination of pigments showed that compared with 'Fuyun 6', the contents of chlorophyll A and B, carotenoids, flavonoids and other pigments of 'Fuhuang 2' decreased significantly, some important pigment-related-genes, such as chlorophyllase (CLH), 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase (NCED), flavonoid 3β-hydroxylase (F3H) and flavonoid 3', 5'-hydroxylase (F3'5'H) were significantly changed. Compared with 'Fuyun 6', 'Fuhuang 2' identified 138 significantly changed metabolites (SCMs) and 658 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). KEGG enrichment analysis showed that SCMs and DEGs were significantly enriched in amino acid biosynthesis, glutathione metabolism and TCA cycle. In general, the albino phenotype of 'Fuhuang 2' may be caused by a deficiency in photosynthetic proteins, chlorophyll metabolism genes and chlorophyll content. The accumulation of high theanine in 'Fuhuang 2' may be due to the low nitrogen consumption in yellowed leaves and the lack of carbon skeleton, amino and nitrogen resources are stored more effectively, resulting in the up regulation of metabolites and related gene expression in the amino acid synthesis pathway, theanine has become a significant accumulation of nitrogen-containing compounds in yellowed leaves.

Objective:To investigate secondhand smoke (SHS) exposure among non-current smokers aged 15 and over and its influencing factors in China in 2010 and 2018.Methods:The 2010 and 2018 China Adult Tobacco Surveys used multistage stratified cluster random sampling methods to obtain national representative samples across 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in China. This study selected non-current smokers aged 15 and over as the research subjects to describe the general demographic characteristics, perceptions of SHS hazards, attitudes towards smoking bans in indoor areas in public places, and SHS exposure and the smoking restriction regulations in different places. The Rao-Scott χ2 test was used to compare the rates, and the unconditional logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of SHS exposure. All the subjects in the analysis were weighted based on a complex sampling design. Results:Among non-current smokers aged 15 and over, from 2010 to 2018, the percentage of indoor smokers had decreased from 84.7% to 71.9%. The rates of people who saw smoking in various places declined with a statistically significant difference ( P<0.001). The exposure to SHS for females, people aged 45-64, teachers, medical staff, workers in enterprises, businesses, waiters, and people who live in rural and central areas declined. The differences were statistically significant ( P<0.05). In 2018, the percentage of SHS exposure for those who reported a comprehensive smoking ban in households or allowed smoking in certain areas was lower than for those who reported allowed or without a smoking ban. Among those aged 25-44, SHS exposure for those who reported complete smoking prohibition in workplaces was lower than those who reported allowed or without smoking prohibition ( OR=0.65, 95% CI: 0.49-0.87). The proportion of SHS exposure for those who believe that smoking should not be allowed in indoor areas of 0-5 public places is higher than that smoking should not be allowed in the indoor spaces of 8 public places ( OR=2.13, 95% CI: 1.35-3.36). Among people aged 45-64, the proportions of SHS exposure for teachers ( OR=0.37, 95% CI: 0.17-0.78) and medical staff ( OR=0.35, 95% CI: 0.16-0.76) and staff working in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, fishery, and water conservancy were lower than governmental staff ( OR=0.49, 95% CI: 0.29-0.84). Conclusions:Data from the decreased exposure of Chinese non-current smokers aged 15 and over to SHS suggests the initial achievement through constructing a smoke-free environment, but continued efforts are needed. It is necessary to actively advocate for smoke-free families, strengthen publicity and education on the hazards of tobacco and SHS, and improve the skills of non-smokers in rejecting SHS exposure.
