1.Changes in the body shape and ergonomic compatibility for functional dimensions of desks and chairs for students in Harbin during 2010-2024
Chinese Journal of School Health 2025;46(3):315-320
Objective:
To analyze the change trends in the body shape indicators and proportions of students in Harbin from 2010 to 2024, and to investigate ergonomic compatibility of functional dimensions of school desks and chairs with current student shape indicators, so as to provide a reference for revising furniture standards of desks and chairs.
Methods:
Between September and November of both 2010 and 2024, a combination of convenience sampling and stratified cluster random sampling was conducted across three districts in Harbin, yielding samples of 6 590 and 6 252 students, respectively. Anthropometric shape indicators cluding height, sitting height, crus length, and thigh length-and their proportional changes were compared over the 15-year period. The 2024 data were compared with current standard functional dimensions of school furniture. The statistical analysis incorporated t-test and Mann-Whitney U- test.
Results:
From 2010 to 2024, average height increased by 1.8 cm for boys and 1.5 cm for girls; sitting height increased by 1.5 cm for both genders; crus length increased by 0.3 cm for boys and 0.4 cm for girls; and thigh length increased by 0.5 cm for both genders. The ratios of sitting height to height, and sitting height to leg length increased by less than 0.1 . The difference between desk chair height and 1/3 sitting height ranged from 0.4-0.8 cm. Among students matched with size 0 desks and chairs, 22.0% had a desk to chair height difference less than 0, indicating that the desk to chair height difference might be insufficient for taller students. The differences between seat height and fibular height ranged from -1.4 to 1.1 cm; and the differences between seat depth and buttock popliteal length ranged from -9.8 to 3.4 cm. Among obese students, the differences between seat width and 1/2 hip circumference ranged from -20.5 to -8.7 cm, while it ranged from -12.2 to -3.8 cm among non obese students.
Conclusion
Current furniture standards basically satisfy hygienic requirements; however, in the case of exceptionally tall and obese students, ergonomic accommodations such as adaptive seating allocation or personalized adjustments are recommended to meet hygienic requirements.

To investigate the correlation between vitamin D nutritional status and insulin resistance in pubertal adolescents. This cross-sectional observational study employed convenience sampling to recruit 2021-grade(8th grade) students from Jining No.7 Middle School in Shandong Province on June 5, 2023. Data collection included questionnaires, physical examinations, and imaging assessments to obtain general information, secondary sexual characteristics development, and bone age. Venous blood samples were collected to measure fasting blood glucose(FBG), fasting insulin(FINS), homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR), and 25-hydroxyvitamin D[25(OH)D] levels. Spearman correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression models were used to examine the associations between serum vitamin D levels and FBG, FINS, and HOMA-IR. The study included 168 pubertal adolescents[69 females(41.1%), 99 males(58.9%); mean age(13.27±0.46) years]. All participants had entered puberty based on sexual development assessment. Vitamin D deficiency was observed in 41 participants(24.4%), insufficiency in 109(64.9%), and sufficiency in 18(10.7%). The median HOMA-IR was 3.49(2.57, 5.14).Significant differences were found across vitamin D status groups for HOMA-IR [4.45(2.54, 6.62) Vitamin D deficiency/insufficiency is prevalent among pubertal adolescents, and serum vitamin D levels show a significant inverse association with insulin resistance. These findings suggest the potential importance of vitamin D status in metabolic health during puberty.

To investigate body composition and associated factors in adolescents undergoing long-term regular sports training. This prospective longitudinal cohort study employed convenience sampling to recruit adolescents receiving structured athletic training at Jining Sports Training Center in June 2023. Baseline measurements included height, weight, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, heart rate, waist circumference, and hip circumference. Questionnaires assessed sleep duration, screen time, and household income. Follow-up measurements in June 2024 repeated these assessments while adding bioelectrical impedance analysis for body composition (lean mass, skeletal muscle mass, fat mass, and body fat percentage). Linear regression models examined associations between training type (direct-contact vs. non-contact sports) and follow-up body fat percentage, BMI, and waist circumference as dependent variables, adjusting for covariates. The study included 110 adolescents (39 female, 71 male) with median age 13.21 years (IQR: 12.46-14.33). Participants comprised 65 direct-contact and 45 non-contact athletes. Baseline prevalence rates were 27.27% for overweight/obesity, 24.55% for elevated waist circumference, and 16.36% for elevated blood pressure. At follow-up, corresponding rates were 24.55%, 26.36%, and 13.64% respectively. The elevated blood pressure subgroup showed significantly higher waist circumference ( Despite regular athletic training, substantial proportions of adolescents exhibited overweight/obesity, abdominal obesity, and elevated blood pressure, warranting clinical attention. Training modality appears to influence body composition changes, with direct-contact sports associated with more favorable adiposity-related outcomes.

Posterior capsule opacification(PCO)is a common postoperative complication of cataract surgery, primarily caused by the proliferation and migration of residual lens epithelial cells(LECs). Although neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet(Nd:YAG)laser posterior capsulotomy effectively treats PCO, it carries risks of complications such as cystoid macular edema(CME). Thus, preventing PCO formation is of critical clinical importance. Despite advancements in intraocular lens(IOL)materials and designs, achieving complete PCO eradication remains challenging. This review systematically examines recent advancements in surface-modified IOLs, including anti-biofouling IOL(reducing LECs adhesion), capsular adhesion-enhanced IOL(promoting capsular bag integration), micro-patterned IOL(physically inhibiting migration), photothermal/photodynamic IOL(inducing light-activated LECs apoptosis), and drug-eluting IOL(sustained drug release). These surface modification strategies demonstrate synergistic effects through complementary mechanisms(including physical barrier formation, chemical intervention, and bioactive regulation), effectively suppressing LECs proliferation while significantly reducing PCO incidence. Importantly, these approaches eliminate the risks associated with conventional Nd:YAG laser treatment, offering substantial advantages. By providing a comprehensive evaluation of these cutting-edge technologies, this review serves as a valuable reference for IOL design optimization. It represents a paradigm shift in cataract management strategies, transitioning from reactive therapeutic interventions to proactive preventive measures, and ultimately leads to improving long-term visual outcomes for patients.

ObjectiveTo investigate the pharmacodynamic effects of Houshihei San (HSHS) recorded with the effects of treating wind and limb heaviness on muscle tissue injury after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) in rats through the ferroptosis pathway. MethodsThirty SD male rats were selected and randomly grouped as follows: sham, MCAO, deferoxamine mesylate, high-dose HSHS (HSHS-H, 0.54 g·kg-1), and low-dose HSHS (HSHS-L, 0.27 g·kg-1), with 6 rats in each group. A laser scattering system was used to evaluate the stability of the MCAO model, and rats were administrated with corresponding agents by gavage for 7 days. During the administration period, behavioral, imaging and other methods were used to systematically evaluate the skeletal muscle tissue injury after MCAO and the therapeutic effect in each administration group. Hematoxylin-eosin staining was employed to evaluate the cross-section of muscle cells. Subsequently, immunohistochemistry was used to detect tumor suppressor p53 and glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) in the soleus tissue. Western blot was employed to determine the protein levels of p53, GPX4, myogenic differentiation 1 (MyoD1), nuclear factor E2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), Myostatin, solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), muscle ring-finger protein-1 (MuRF1), and muscle atrophy F-box protein (MAFbx) to verify the therapeutic effect in each group. ResultsCompared with the MCAO group, HSHS enhanced the locomotor ability and promoted muscle regeneration, which suggested that the pharmacological effects of HSHS were related to the inhibition of muscle tissue ferroptosis to reduce the expression of muscle atrophy factors. Behavioral and imaging results suggested that compared with the MCAO group, HSHS ameliorated neurological impairments in rats on day 7 (P<0.01), enhanced 5-min locomotor distance and postural control (P<0.01), strengthened grasping power and promoted muscle growth (P<0.01), stabilized skeletal muscle length and weight (P<0.01), and increased the cross-section of muscle cells (P<0.01). Compared with the MCAO group, HSHS promoted the increases in glutathione and superoxide dismutase content and inhibited the increase in malondialdehyde content (P<0.05,P<0.01). Ferroptosis pathway-related assays suggested that HSHS reduced the p53-positive cells and increased the GPX4-positive cells (P<0.01). HSHS ameliorated muscle function decline after stroke by promoting the expression of GPX4, Nrf2, SLC7A11, and MyoD1 and inhibiting the expression of p53, Myostatin, MurRF1, and MAFbx to reduce ferroptosis in the muscle (P<0.01). ConclusionHSHS, prepared with reference to the method in the Synopsis of Golden Chamber, can simultaneously reduce the myolysis and increase the protein synthesis in the skeletal muscle tissue after ischemic stroke by regulating the ferroptosis pathway.

In recent years, the number of patients with vaginal relaxation has increased year by year, and the minimally invasive vaginal contraction has been carried out more and more widely in clinical practice, but the treatment normalization and safety have not been thoroughly studied. We summarized six cases of characteristics and treatment measures for patients with various complications after minimally invasive vaginal contraction surgery from September 2021 to December 2023 at Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The patients' age ranged from 26 to 44 years. Two cases accepted vaginal contraction with embedded vaginal thread, and four accepted vaginal contraction with acellular allogenic dermis. One patient showed vaginal hyper-tightness, one patient showed subcutaneous suture nodules, two patients showed explosion of acellular allogenic dermis, and three patients showed vaginal infection symptoms such as yellow leucorrhea and peculiar smell. All patients had sexual pain and discomfort. One patient underwent vaginal orifice dilation, one patient underwent suture extraction and secondary vaginal contraction, one patient underwent acellular allogenic dermis extraction and immediate vaginal contraction, two patients underwent acellular allogenic dermis extraction and secondary vaginal contraction, and one patient underwent secondary vaginal contraction. The symptoms of all six patients were relieved after treatment. Despite the short operation time and fast postoperative recovery of minimally invasive vaginal contraction, there are still complications after surgery, causing physical and mental damage to patients. Plastic surgeons, therefore, should be cautious in the treatment process to avoid collateral damage, so that patients get the best treatment effect.

The irreversible destruction of periodontal tissue caused by periodontitis is the result of an imbalance be-tween external pathogenic factors and the internal immune response. As human immune cells, macrophages have both pro-and anti-inflammatory roles in the occurrence and development of periodontitis.Pathogenic bacteria, inflammatory cytokines, and neutrophils in the periodontal microenvironment can significantly affect the metabolism and functional status of macrophages, and the status of macrophages can regulate disease processes.By activating the NF-κB signaling pathway, the bacteria cause macrophages to undergo M1 proinflammatory polarization and pyroptosis, forming a microen-vironment that induces periodontal tissue destruction. With the development of the disease, numerous apoptotic neutro-phils are recognized and phagocytized by macrophages(i.e.efferocytosis),which can both inhibit the NF-κB pathway and activate the nuclear receptors PPAR and LXR,promoting the anti-inflammatory polarization of M2 and further en-hancing the efferocytosis activity of macrophages. As a result, these treatments can limit tissue inflammatory damage and promote tissue repair. In recent years, periodontitis treatment strategies focusing on macrophage regulation have re-ceived extensive attention, including gene knockout, nanoparticles, exosomes,miRNA,and polyunsaturated fatty acid di-ets.In this article,we review the specific role of macrophages in periodontitis from three aspects, including macrophage polarization, pyroptosis, and efferocytosis, which may improve our understanding of periodontitis and provide possible di-rections for periodontitis treatment strategies.

Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2024;65(15):1555-1558
This paper analyzed the "non-standardization" phenomenon of syndrome differentiation in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) from the diagnosis process. It is proposed that the symptoms and signs collected by the four examinations of inspection, listening/smelling, inquiry, and palpation naturally have a certain "ambiguity", which can be reduced by the comparison and comprehensive condensation (comprehensive analysis of the four examinations) of a large amount of multi-dimensional clinical data, thereby realizing the sublimation of TCM diagnosis from "ambiguity" of four examinations to "accuracy" of diagnostic conclusion. Based on the above assumptions, this paper further proposed that a research idea of intelligent syndrome differentiation in TCM, that is, by taking the clinical thinking ability of TCM physicians as the core, adopting artificial intelligence technology based on knowledge graph visualization, integrating the complex network association and reasoning method of "symptom-pathogenesis-syndrome" linked by pathogenesis, and through the automatic analysis and reasoning process of a large amount of multi-dimensional and ambiguous clinical data, the intelligent TCM diagnosis based on syndrome differentiation can be realized.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(11):1599-1603
Objective:
To explore the moderating effect of parenting style on parental involvement in education and aggressive behavior of nursery child, so as to provide a reference basis for promoting the healthy development of nursery child behavior.
Methods:
From March 2023 to February 2024, through a stratified cluster random sampling method, 1 509 parents from 12 kindergartens in Heilongjiang, Shanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces were investigated by using Parental Involvement Questionnaire, Parental Reported Aggression Behavior Subscale of Child Behavior Checklist, Parenting Styles, and Dimensions Questionnaire. Mann-Whitney test and Kruskal-Wallis H test were used for group comparison, and Spearman correlation analysis was used to explore the relationship between parental involvement, aggressive behavior in nursery child and parenting style. Stratified linear regression analysis was used to investigate the moderating effect of parenting style on parental involvement and aggressive behavior in young children.
Results:
There was a significant positive correlation of aggressive behavior in nursery child with authoritarian parenting styles and indulgent parenting styles ( r=0.53, 0.52, P <0.01). Aggression behavior in nursery child was negatively associated with authoritative parenting styles, home communication, in school participation, and in home participation ( r = -0.15 , -0.12, -0.09, -0.10, P <0.01). The regulatory effect results showed that authoritative and authoritarian parenting style had a statistically significant moderating effect on parental involvement and aggressive behavior in nursery child ( β=0.12, -0.11, P < 0.01), while permissive parenting styles had no statistically significant moderating effect on parental involvement and aggressive behavior ( β= -0.01, P >0.05).
Conclusions
Parents involvement in education is closely related to nursery child s aggressive behavior. The authoritative and authoritarian parenting styles moderate the relationship between parental involvement and aggressive behavior in nursery child, while the permissive parenting styles does not.
