Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2024;65(20):2159-2162
It is believed that the pathogenesis of oculomotor nerve palsy is insufficient marrow sea (髓海), withered yang qi, poor contraction of eyelids and periocular meridians, and inability to open and close the eyes. The eye system is connected to the marrow sea, as well as the the foot taiyang (太阳) channel, foot yangming (阳明) channel, foot jueyin (厥阴) channel, yinqiao mai (阴跷脉) and yangqiao mai (阳跷脉), and is nourished by the liver, spleen and kidney. Treatment should take into account both the branch and the root cause. It is suggested to treat the root by regulating the marrow sea, and treat the branch by unblocking the meridians and dredging the collaterals, thereby balancing the mild and the urgency of the yinqiao mai and yangqiao mai. Using the "Gen (根)-Liu(溜)-Zhu (注)-Ru (入)"acupoints to bypass the various meridians and taking the gallbladder meridian according to twelve major meridians that run on both sides of the body, both of which can provide ideas for improving symptoms such as ptosis and limited eye movement caused by oculomotor nerve palsy.

Myocardial infarction promotes cardiac remodeling and myocardial fibrosis, thus leading to cardiac dysfunction or heart failure. Peiminine has been regarded as a traditional anti-fibrotic Chinese medicine in pulmonary fibrosis. However, the role of peiminine in myocardial infarction-induced myocardial injury and fibrosis remained elusive. Firstly, rat model of myocardial infarction was established using ligation of the left coronary artery, which were then intraperitoneally injected with 2 or 5 mg/kg peiminine once a day for 4 weeks. Echocardiography and haemodynamic evaluation results showed that peiminine treatment reduced left ventricular end-diastolic pressure, and enhanced maximum rate of increase/decrease of left ventricle pressure (± dP/dt max) and left ventricular systolic pressure, which ameliorate the cardiac function. Secondly, myocardial infarction-induced myocardial injury and infarct size were also attenuated by peiminine. Moreover, peiminine inhibited myocardial infarction-induced increase of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α production, as well as the myocardial cell apoptosis, in the rats. Thirdly, peiminine also decreased the myocardial fibrosis related protein expression including collagen I and collagen III. Lastly, peiminine reduced the expression of p38 and phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 in rat model of myocardial infarction. In conclusion, peiminine has a cardioprotective effect against myocardial infarction-induced myocardial injury and fibrosis, which can be attributed to the inactivation of mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway.

OBJECTIVE:
To screen for Vel- rare blood type donors and determine the frequency of SMIM1 c.64_80del allele in Yili Prefecture of Xinjiang, China.
METHODS:
DNA pooling and PCR-sequence-specific primers (PCR-SSP) was conducted to screen individuals carrying the SMIM1 c.64_80del variant, and Sanger sequencing of SMIM1 exon 3 was carried out to verify the genotype of those with the variation. SMIM1 intron 2 was also sequenced to identify single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) that may affect the expression of Vel antigen.
RESULTS:
Among 3328 blood donors, 14 were identified as heterozygotes for the SMIM1 c.64_80del allele, its allele frequency was 0.21%; no homozygous SMIM1 c.64_80 deletions was found. For SNP rs1175550, all of the 14 individuals had an AA genotype, among whom 5 carried heterozygous 7111ins GCA variant in intron 2.
CONCLUSION
The allelic frequency of SMIM1 c.64_80del in Yili area is approximately 0.21%, which is reported for the first time.

Chinese Journal of Pathology 2020;49(6):594-600
Objective:To investigate the expression of CDK6 and FOXM1 in peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), and its correlation with clinicopathologic features and patient prognosis. Methods:The Oncomine was used for data mining and analyzing the expression levels of CDK6 and FOXM1 in PTCL. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) of EnVision method was used to detect the expression of CDK6 and FOXM1 proteins in 166 cases of PTCL diagnosed at Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital from January 2016 to December 2018, and 30 cases of lymph node with reactive hyperplasia as control. Results:Among the PTCL patients, 104 were male and 62 were female, aged from 3 to 85 years, with an average age of 53 years. Analyses of the Oncomine 4.5 database showed that mRNA expression of CDK6 and FOXM1 in PTCL tissues was significantly higher than that in normal tissue ( P<0.05). IHC staining showed the positive rates of CDK6 and FOXM1 proteins in PTCL tissues were 27.7% (46/166) and 80.7% (134/166), respectively. The expression was mainly present in the nuclei of tumor cells, showing a diffuse, strongly positive pattern. The positive rates of CDK6 and FOXM1 proteins among the 30 cases of lymph-node reactive hyperplasia were 0 (0/30) and 30% (9/30), respectively. The expression of FOXM1 was mainly found in the lymphoid follicle germinal center, and not present in the T-zone cells. CDK6 protein, FOXM1 protein and the co-expression of CDK6 and FOXM1 proteins in PTCL were associated with higher Ann Arbor staging and international prognostication index score ( P<0.05), and inversely associated with overall survival ( P<0.05). Meanwhile, CDK6 protein expression was positively correlated with FOXM1 protein expression ( P<0.05). Conclusions:CDK6 and FOXM1 may be new targets for the diagnosis and treatment of PTCL. The overexpression of CDK6 may lead to enhanced function of the transcription factor FOXM1, while the overexpression of CDK6 and FOXM1 also promotes the development and progression of PTCL.

Cancer Research and Clinic 2019;31(8):570-573
Cervical adenosarcoma is a very rare type of Mullerian adenosarcoma and it is easily confused with benign polyps, therefore, differential diagnosis is necessary. The primary clinical symptoms are vaginal abnormal bleeding and abdominal pain, which can be prevented through the study of high-risk factors. Surgery excision has been considered as the main treatment at present. Due to the low incidence of cervical adenosarcoma, its etiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment need to be discussed further. This paper reviews the diagnosis and treatment progress of cervical adenosarcoma.
