Radiation-induced injury, a body dysfunction caused by irradiation, is associated with the dose, duration, and speed of radiation and is predominantly derived from radiation therapy for patients with malignant tumors. The current clinical treatment mainly includes amelioration of injury, alleviation of symptoms, and improvements in function restoration of the affected sites because of lack of targeted agents specific to radiation-induced injuries. Research and development of preventive and therapeutic agents against radiation-induced injuries are of great significance to reduce the body damages caused by radiotherapy and improve the quality of life of cancer survivors. This review summarizes the radiation-induced injury and its mechanisms, radioprotectants, and therapeutic agents for radiation, and proposes future development directions, so as to provide a reference for alleviation of radiation-induced injury and improvement in prognosis.

Objective:To establish a high performance liquid chromatography method for the simultaneous determination of dimethyl oxalate (DMO) and diethyl oxalate (DEO) in workplace air. Methods:From January 2022 to January 2023, air samples were collected by silica gel tubes, desorbed by acetonitrile, separated by C18 chromatographic column, detected by photo-array detector, and retention time was used to characterize and peak area was used to quantify at 210 nm wavelength. Results:The linear relationships of DMO and DEO were good, r>0.999. The detection limits of DMO and DEO were 0.39 and 0.52 μg/ml, respectively. The quantitative limit was 1.28 μg/ml for DMO and 1.72 μg/ml for DEO. Average desorption efficiency for DMO was 82.40%-92.72%, and DEO was 94.13%-97.69%. The intra-assay precision of DMO was 1.87%-6.18%, and DEO was 2.25%-3.31%. Inter-assay precision of DMO was 3.29%-5.73%, and DEO was 1.38%-2.94%. Average sampling efficiencies were 100% for both DMO and DEO. Breakthrough capacity of DMO was 37.61 mg (200 mg solid adsorbent), DEO was >28.11 mg (200 mg solid adsorbent). Samples should be stored at 4 ℃ for at least 7 days. Conclusion:This method is easy to operate and has strong practicability. All indicators meet the requirements of the specification, and it is suitable for the simultaneous determination of DMO and DEO in the workplace air.

Objective To investigate the pathomorphological features of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT)lymphoma of the lacrimal gland and the expression and significance of BCL10 and MALT1 in tumor tissues. Methods Diseased lacrimal gland tissue specimens from 19 patients with lacrimal gland MALT lymphoma(19 eyes, including nine right eyes and ten left eyes)were selected as the experimental group, and normal lacrimal gland tissue specimens from eight patients with orbital content removal(eight eyes, including three right eyes and five left eyes)were selected as the control group.Hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining was performed to observe the mor-phological characteristics of the lacrimal gland tissues, and immunohistochemical(IHC)staining was performed to observe the expression of BCL10 and MALT1 in the lacrimal gland tissues. Results In the experimental group, marginal B cells,monocyte-like tumor cells, small lymphocyte-like tumor cells, and plasma cell-like tumor cells appeared in the marginal zone.Large cells were occasionally distri-buted among these cells. The tumor cells invaded the lymphoid follicles and epithelium, destroyed normal tissue structure, and formed follicular colonization and lymphoepithelial lesions. The positive expression area of BCL10 and MALT1 in the experimental group was sig-nificantly larger than that in the control group(Z=-2.177,P=0.029;t=3.237,P=0.003).Conclusion Lacrimal gland MALT lymphoma shows pathological changes in diffusely distributed marginal B cells and tumor cells with diverse morphology, acquired lymphoid follicles, and scattered distribution of large cells. This may be related to apoptosis blockage caused by the upregulation of BCL10 and MALT1 expression.

Anti-CD19 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cell therapy has achieved 40%-50% long-term complete response in relapsed or refractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) patients. However, the underlying mechanism of alterations in the tumor microenvironments resulting in CAR-T cell therapy failure needs further investigation. A multi-center phase I/II trial of anti-CD19 CD28z CAR-T (FKC876, ChiCTR1800019661) was conducted. Among 22 evaluable DLBCL patients, seven achieved complete remission, 10 experienced partial remissions, while four had stable disease by day 29. Single-cell RNA sequencing results were obtained from core needle biopsy tumor samples collected from long-term complete remission and early-progressed patients, and compared at different stages of treatment. M2-subtype macrophages were significantly involved in both in vivo and in vitro anti-tumor functions of CAR-T cells, leading to CAR-T cell therapy failure and disease progression in DLBCL. Immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments persisted before CAR-T cell therapy, during both cell expansion and disease progression, which could not be altered by infiltrating CAR-T cells. Aberrant metabolism profile of M2-subtype macrophages and those of dysfunctional T cells also contributed to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironments. Thus, our findings provided a clinical rationale for targeting tumor microenvironments and reprogramming immune cell metabolism as effective therapeutic strategies to prevent lymphoma relapse in future designs of CAR-T cell therapy.

Objective:To explore the applicability of the distance between facial marks classification in evaluating the severity of androgenic alopecia in men. Methods:From June to December 2019, the male Chinese with diagnosis of androgenic alopecia were evaluated in the specific clinic of alopecia of Hangzhou First People’s Hospital according to the distance between facial marks and BASP(basic and specific) classification. The classification based on the distance between facial marks measures the distance from the facial marks of the anterior hairline to the horizontal line of the eyebrow and the longest radius of hair loss in the hair rotation center, the hair recession of the patient’s forehead (F), temporal (M) and vertex (V) parts. The hair loss in each region is rated as 0-3 grade from light to heavy, and the final hair loss grading is expressed as FnMnVn, such as F1M2V0. The highest grade of hair loss in F, M and V is the overall grade of hair loss. SPSS 25.0 software was used to statistically analyze the general data of patients, and Kappa test was used to evaluate the consistency between the results of the distance classification and BASP classification. The repeatability of the distance classification was tested by the repetition rate of three hair loss specialists. When two or more specialists gave the same evaluation among the three hair loss specialists, the result was regarded as the standard result. The ease of use of the distance between facial marks classification was tested by the consistency rate between the grading results of two temporary trained general doctors and the standard results. Results:A total of 150 male patients, aged (32.8±7.9) years (19-58 years), were included, of which 99 patients were 24-35 years old, accounting for 66.00%. It can be observed that the onset age was earlier. As assessed in this classification, the patients who participated in the study were graded as mild in 65 cases(43.33%), severe in 58 cases(38.67%), and moderate, which was consistency with the results obtained by BASP classification ( κ=0.573, P<0.001). Three experienced alopecia specialists evaluated 150 patients through the distance between facial marks. The results showed that the repetition rates of frontal, temporal and parietal classification results were 98.00%(147/150), 97.33%(146/150) and 96.00%(144/150), respectively. The repetition rate of the final alopecia classification was 92.00%(138/150), and the repetition rate of the overall alopecia classification was 98.00%(147/150). The consistency rate between the overall alopecia classification results of two temporary trained general doctors and the standard results was 95.92%(141/147) and 96.60%(142/147), respectively, and the consistency rate of the other results was higher than 90.00% except for one general doctor who was 89.86%(124/138) in the final classification. Conclusion:The distance between facial marks classification is a comparatively accurate and easy-to-learn grading method designed for Chinese male androgenic hair loss patients based on objective measurement data.
