To achieve the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality (double carbon), China has been updating and developing low-carbon coal-fired power generation technology. While reducing carbon dioxide emissions, it has achieved a significant reduction in emissions of pollutants such as particulate matter, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides. However, at the same time, with the relative increase in emissions of certain pollutants such as sulfur trioxide, ammonia, and volatile organic compounds, the types and proportions of pollutant emissions have changed. This study summarized the technological improvements in coal-fired power generation both domestically and internationally, as well as the types and proportions of pollutants emitted by different coal-fired power generation modes. It also reviewed the epidemiological research progress on the impact of pollutants emitted from coal-fired power generation on the cardiopulmonary health of the population, expounded environmental impact of different coal-fired power models, and analyzed the changes in population exposure load and cardiopulmonary health benefits of low-carbon coal-fired power generation emissions, aiming to provide references for achieving carbon reduction and emission reduction goals and protecting the health of the population.

Objective:To analyze and compare the practical value of serum cystatin C(Scys C)and serum creatinine(SCr)in the assessment of kidney function in older adults. Methods:A retrospective, cross-sectional study was performed in 2 450 participants who were divided into a non-elderly group(<65 years)and an elderly group(≥65 years).Glomerular filtration rate(GFR), Scys C and SCr were measured by 99mTc-DTPA clearance, particle-enhanced immunoturbidimetry and an oxidase method, respectively. The χ2 test was used to compare increases in percentage of Scys C and SCr at the same GFR level. The screening value of Scys C and SCr for GFR<60 ml·min -1·1.73m -2was evaluated by the area under curve(AUC)of the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve.Values of 95% reference ranges were established for Scys C and SCr at different GFR levels. Results:The proportions of the general population with increased Scys C were 82.74%(556/672)and 94.74%(90/95), respectively, for GFR levels between 30~59 ml·min -1·1.73m -2and <30 ml·min -1·1.73m -2, while only 38.24%(257/672)and 75.79%(72/95)had elevated SCr levels( χ2=278.328, 13.571, both P<0.001).For the above GFR intervals, the proportions of older adults with increased Scys C were 84.81%(240/283)and 100.00%(43/43)respectively, and the proportions for non-elderly adults with increased Scys C were 81.23%(316/389)and 90.38%(47/52)( χ2=1.463, 4.364, P=0.226, 0.037), respectively. The screening value of Scys C for GFR<60 ml·min -1·1.73m -2was slightly better than SCr in terms of sensitivity, specificity and the Youden index. However, the sensitivity and specificity of Scys C in older adults were 76.4% and 75.7%, respectively, both lower than 78.7% and 84.0% in non-older adults. The variability of Scys C increased progressively with age.The reference range for Scys C was higher in older adults than in non-older adults at the same GFR level. Conclusions:When screening for GFR<60 ml·min -1·1.73m -2, the sensitivity and specificity of Scys C are slightly better than those of SCr, but are lower in older adults than in non-older adults.Scys C levels are higher and more variable in older adults.Using Scys C to assess GFR may lead to over-diagnosis of chronic kidney disease in older adults.

ObjectiveTo observe the clinical effect of Mahuang Xixin Fuzitang combined with acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of localized scleroderma. MethodA total of 95 patients with localized scleroderma treated in Wuhan No. 1 Hospital from September 2019 to October 2021 were assigned into a control group (47 patients) and an observation group (48 patients) by random number table method. The control group was treated with Centella triterpenes tablets and heparin sodium cream, and the observation group was additionally treated with Mahuang Xixin Fuzitang combined with acupuncture and moxibustion. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks, and the clinical effect was compared between groups. The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome score (local skin sclerosis, loss of skin texture, darkening of skin pigment, scaly dry skin, etc.), serum levels of soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and eosinophil count (EO) were compared between before and after treatment as well as between groups. Additionally, the adverse reactions were recorded. ResultThe observation group had higher total effective rate than the control group [95.83% (46/48) vs. 82.98% (39/47), χ2=4.166 4, P<0.05]. Before treatment, the TCM syndrome score, sIL-2R, TNF-α, ESR, and EO showed no significant differences between the two groups. The 8 weeks of treatment improved the TCM syndrome score, sIL-2R, TNF-α, ESR, and EO. Moreover, the observation group was superior to the control group in these indicators (P<0.05). During the treatment, the observation group showed 1 case of abnormal liver function and 1 case of nausea and vomiting, and the control group had 1 case of nausea and vomiting, 1 case of abnormal renal function, and 1 case of abnormal liver function. The total adverse reactions of the observation group (4.17%) and the control group (6.38%) had no significant difference (χ2=0.233 9, P=0.062 86). ConclusionMahuang Xixin Fuzitang combined with acupuncture and moxibustion is safe and effective in the treatment of localized scleroderma.

Ohjective To explore the impact of constraint-induced aphasia therapy (CIAT) on language function and neural activity in patients with chronic Broca's aphasia. Methods Two chronic aphasics whose use of language was recovering after standard language therapy were selected to receive 1.5 h of CIAT twice daily for two weeks (30 hours in total). Before and after the CIAT they were tested using a block-designed picture-naming task,fMRIs were taken and their use of language was examined. Results The language function assessments showed relatively large improvements in the subjects' use of language after 4 weeks of conventional language training, but not much further change after 8 and 12 weeks. After the two weeks of CIAT,their language function improved further to a certain extent.fMRI showed increased activation in the left inferior frontal gyrus with or without enhanced activation in the left hemisphere, and reduced activation in the right inferior frontal gyrus. Conclusions Functional reorganization induced in the brain by CIAT was associated with up-regulation of the left inferior frontal gyrus or down-regulation of the right inferior frontal gyrus.Even the whole language network may have been modified.

γ-Secretase is aⅠtransmembrane protease associated with Alzheimer disease(AD), and including four subunits:presenilin, presenilin enhancer-2,anterior-pharynx-defective1 and nicastrin. In recent studies, the ultra-high-resolution cryo-electron microscope has been used for the first time, revealing the humanγ-secretase″horseshoe″,the three-dimensional structure and the arrangement of the subunits. This technique has shed light on the regulation of the enzyme pathway and mechanism. In addition, the γ-secretase modulators, including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, have been shown in vitro to inhibit γ-secretase activity and selectively reduce the level of Aβ42 against AD. They have provided an effective approach, with broad prospects for development. Studies in this area have become a hot topic in recent years. Here we summarized the γ-secretase subunits regulatory pathways, humanγ-secretase fine three-dimensional structure andγ-secretase modulators .

Objective To observe the inhibited effect of gastrodin on chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain and its mechanism. Methods Fifty SD rats, chosen according to the threshold of pain, were randomly divided into 5 groups(n=10):control group, model group, and gastrodin treatment groups (30 mg/kg,60 mg/kg and 120 mg/kg).Vincristine (125 μg/kg,i.p.) was administered on alternate days to establish chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain models in the model group and gastrodin treatment groups, and then,on the 9th d of modeling rats in the gastrodin treatment groups were treated with different doses of gastrodin, while those in the control group and model group were given normal saline on the 16th d of modeling.Paw withdrawal mechanical threshold and thermal pain threshold were measured;protein expressions of CX3CR1 and p-p38MAPK were detected by Western blotting, and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) protein expression was detected by ELISA.Results As compared with control group, model group had significantly decreased pain threshold and increased protein expressions of CX3CR1,p-p38MAPK and TNF-α (P<0.05);as compared with those in the model group, the pain threshold increased and the expressions of CX3CR1,p-p38MAPK and TNF-α decreased in 60 mg/kg and 120 mg/kg gastrodin treatment groups, with significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion Gastrodin can relieve the chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain, probably by inhibiting the expressions of CX3CR1 and p-p38MAPK in the activation passageway of microglial cells in the spinal cord, and then, reducing the expression of TNF-α.
