Objective To explore the relationship of UHRF1 with the clinicopathological characteristics of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, as well as the effects of lentivirus transfection overexpression and knockdown of UHRF1 on the proliferation, invasion, and migration of CRC cells and the possible signaling pathways. Methods The expression of UHRF1 mRNA and protein in CRC tissues and adjacent tissues was detected by immunohistochemical staining and RT-PCR. The effects of the constructed UHRF1 overexpression- and knockdown-group cells on the expression of UHRF1, related molecules in the WNT signaling pathway, and MMPR9 were examined by Western blot and RT-PCR. EDU and Transwell assays were used to detect changes in the proliferation, migration, and invasion of CRC cells. Results (1) In the TCGA database and clinical data, the mRNA and protein expression levels of UHRF1 in CRC cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in adjacent normal tissues. UHRF1 expression was closely correlated with TNM stage, N stage, and M stage. Patients with low UHRF1 expression in TCGA had better 5-year OS and disease-specific survival. The area under the ROC curve of UHRF1 for predicting 1-, 3-, and 5-year OS were 0.634, 0.652, and 0.771, respectively. The 3-year OS in the clinical data also showed the same survival benefit. UHRF1 overexpression was a poor prognostic factor for CRC patients. (2) After UHRF1 overexpression, the expression of WNT3a, GSK3β, and MMP9 in SW480 cells significantly increased, whereas the expression of p-β-catenin decreased (

From providing funds for the global fight against infectious diseases,to actively participating in global health security actions,to strengthening mutual cooperation in the field of health, and providing medical treatment, training and scholarships to countries in need,China's foreign aid on global poverty alleviation is increasingly diversified and expanding in scale.Indeed,China is playing an increasingly important leading role in the global health agenda. It is worth mentioning that over the years, artemisinin compound have saved millions of lives all over the world, especially in poverty-stricken areas.China's work mode of malaria elimination has also been written into WHO's technical documents and recommended to other countries.Since 2007,Chinese medical staff has carried out the Artemisinin Compound Malaria Control Project in Comoros, bringing Chinese prevention and treatment programs to the local area.By 2014,Comoros had achieved zero deaths from malaria, and the number of cases had dropped by 98%.Now,this program is also extended to Togo, another African country. This article preliminarily summarizes the malaria profile in Togo and introduces China-Togo Cooperative Artemisinin Malaria Control Demonstration Project to provide a reference for better anti-malaria assistance in Togo, and also shows one of the substantive actions of China's participation in global health governance, which contributes Chinese wisdom and offers Chinese solutions to global poverty alleviation.

Objective To explore risk factors of the progression to castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC)after hormone therapy (HT).Methods A total of 178 patients with prostate cancer from February 2009 to February 2018 were enrolled to analyze the risk factors of the progression to castrationresistant prostate cancer after androgen deprivation therapy in Fujian Medical University Union Hospital. The mean age was72 years (range,49-91 years);the middle Gleason score was 7 (range,4-10);the middle PSA at the initiation of HT was 24.45 ng/ml (range,0.16-100.0 ng/ml);the middle time to PSA nadir was 9 months (range,0.5-69.0 months);the middle PSA nadir after HT was 0.030 ng/ml (range,0.003-78.670 ng/ml);the mean hemoglobin level was 131 g/L (range,64-184 g/L);the mean alkaline phosphatase level was 98 U/L (range,35-734 U/L);39 patients were diabetes mellitus (21.9%);82 patients were bone metastasis/visceral metastasis (46.1%);85 patients (47.8 %) were in clinical T1 + T2;93 patients(52.2%)were in clinical T3 + T4.We studied the relationship between CRPC and these risk factors including age,Gleason score,PSA at the initiation of HT,PSA nadir after HT,the time to PSA nadir, hemoglobin level, alkaline phosphatase, bone metastasis/visceral metastasis, clinical T stage, diabetes mellitus by x2 test, univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis methods. Results The middle follow-up time was 30 months (range,6-92 months). There were 74 of 178 patients progressed to CRPC after HT.The median time of progression to CRPC in this cohort was 15 months (range,4-47 months). On x2 test analysis, there were statistically significant differences between the progression to CRPC group after HT and the rest group in Gleason score (P <0.001),PSA nadir after HT (P <0.001),PSA at the initiation of HT (P =0.042),alkaline phosphatase (P =0.002),bone metastasis/visceral metastasis (P<0.001) and clinical T stage (P <0.001).Additionally,on multivariate Cox regression analysis,Gleason score (OR =6.152,P < 0.001),PSA nadir after HT (OR =3.022,P < 0.004) and the time to PSA nadir (OR =0.375,P <0.001) were found to be significantly associated with the rapid progression to CRPC.Conelusions Gleason score,PSA nadir after HT and the time to PSA nadir were significantly associated with the progression to CRPC.Patients with higher PSA nadir or the shorter time to PSA nadir were more likely to progress to CRPC.

Objective To observe the hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects of Zhuye Shigao Decoction (ZSD) on experimental type 2 diabetes mellitus rats. Methods Type 2 diabetes mellitus rat model was induced by intragastric administration of high fat diet(10 mL/kg) and intraperitoneal administration of streptozotocin (30 mg·kg-1). Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into normal group, model group, low-, moderate-and high-dose ZSD groups (in the dosage of 3.6, 7.2, 14.4 g·kg-1·d-1 respectively), and Metformin group (0.15 g·kg-1·d-1) , 10 rats in each group. With fasting blood glucose, urine glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), serum insulin, serum superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) as the main indexes, we evaluated the influence of ZSD on the blood glucose and lipid levels as well as oxidative stress in type 2 diabetes mellitus rats. Results Compared with the model group, the levels of blood glucose, urine glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin, and the contents of TC, TG, MDA were decreased (P <0.05), whereas SOD activity and serum insulin level were obviously increased (P < 0.05) in ZSD groups. ZSD showed dose-related effectiveness in the treatment of diabetic rats. Conclusion ZSD has certain hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus.
