OBJECTIVE:To investigate the improvement effect of Prostatitis capsule on chronic non-bacterial prostatitis(CNP) model rats. METHODS:60 rats were randomly divided into sham operation group (distilled water),model group (distilled wa-ter),Pule'an tablet group(positive control,2 g/kg)and Prostatitis capsule high-dose,medium-dose,low-dose groups(16,8,4 g/kg). Except for sham operation group, other 5 groups were injected Xiaozhiling injection 0.2 mL to reduce CNP model. After 7 d of modeling, they received related medicines,ig,once a day,for 45 d. After 24 h of last administration, prostate lesions were ob-served by eyes and wet quality was weighed. White blood cell(WBC)count and lecithin body(SPL)count were conducted under microscope, and prostate tissue slices were pathologically observed. RESULTS:Compared with sham operation group, prostate showed gray nodules, adhesion in glands and surrounding tissue;wet quality of prostate and WBC,SPL count in prostate tissue were significantly increased(P<0.01);under microscope, there were significant congestion, edema and a variety of inflammatory cell infiltration in prostate interstitial. Compared with model group, gray nodules in prostate in Pule'an tablet group and Prostatitis capsule group were reduced,as well as adhesion degree in prostate and surrounding tissue;wet quality of prostate and WBC,SPL count in prostate tissue were significantly decreased(P<0.01);pathological changes had improved to varying degrees under micro-scope,especially the changes in Prostatitis capsule high-dose group, and prostate tissue only showed mild congestion, edema and little inflammatory cell infiltration. CONCLUSIONS:Prostatitis capsule has a certain improvement effect on CNP model rats.

INTRODUCTIONThe present study aimed to investigate the possible associations between serum levels of visfatin, an adipokine, and atherosclerosis in patients with ischaemic cerebrovascular disease.
METHODSA total of 95 participants were recruited for this study. Group A comprised 35 individuals with no history of cerebrovascular disease (control group) and Group B comprised 60 patients with ischaemic cerebrovascular disease. Group B was further categorised into two subgroups based on the ultrasonographic findings of the common carotid artery intima‑media thickness (CCA‑IMT) - Group B1 consisted of 21 patients with no atherosclerosis (i.e. CCA‑IMT ≤ 0.9 mm) and Group B2 consisted of 39 patients with atherosclerosis (i.e. CCA‑IMT > 0.9 mm). The body mass index, fasting blood total cholesterol, triglycerides, high‑density lipoprotein cholesterol, low‑density lipoprotein cholesterol and glucose levels of each patient were measured. Serum visfatin levels were determined using enzyme‑linked immunosorbent assays. Visfatin levels were compared between groups, and stepwise logistic regression analysis was used to identify risk factors for atherosclerosis, including visfatin levels.
RESULTSThe mean serum visfatin level of the patients in Group B was higher than that in Group A (75.5 ± 77.80 ng/mL vs. 8.6 ± 4.69 ng/mL; p < 0.05) and the level was higher in patients from Group B2 than those from Group B1 (89.0 ± 80.68 ng/mL vs. 50.4 ± 72.44 ng/mL; p < 0.05). Multivariate regression analysis showed that CCA‑IMT values were not significantly associated with visfatin levels. However, logistic regression analysis showed that serum visfatin was an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis (odds ratio 37.80; p = 0.004).
CONCLUSIONSerum visfatin may be an independent risk factor for cerebral infarction, as high serum visfatin levels are positively associated with the underlying pathogenic mechanisms of ischaemic cerebrovascular disease.

Objective To explore the correlation between TCM constitution and sleep status in escort troops. Methods Standardized TCM Constitution Questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used to investigate escort troops. Factors of PSQI and constitution types were analyzed. Results The results of PSQI showed the number of escort troops who had bad sleeping (PSQI>7) was 64, which accounted for 46%of the escort troops, among which, 45 people (70.3%) were justified as biased constitution, while 19 were normal constitution (29.7%). The top three biased constitution in bad sleeping were:qi deficiency, phlegm-dampness and dampness-heat. PSQI factors such as sleep disorder, daytime dysfunction and total score had positive correlation with qi deficiency, yang deficiency, yin deficiency, dampness-heat and blood stasis, and negative correlation with normal constitution. Conclusion Sleep condition of escort troops has correlation with TCM constitution, which indicates that sleep status could be improved by regulating TCM constitution.
