1.Research Progress on Relationship Between EBV and HPV Coinfection and Related Malignant Tumors

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and human papillomavirus (HPV) play an important role in the occurrence and development of various malignant neoplasms, such as cervical neoplasms, oral cavity neoplasms, and nasopharyngeal neoplasms. This review primarily discusses the co-infection of EBV and HPV in cervical neoplasms, oral cavity neoplasms, and nasopharyngeal neoplasms. Many in-depth discussions have focused on the role of EBV and HPV co-infection in related neoplasms. Most studies believed that they are complementary to each other, but a few argued that the infection between these two viruses is mutually exclusive. Clarifying the mechanisms and roles of EBV and HPV co-infection in cervical neoplasms, oral cavity neoplasms, and nasopharyngeal neoplasms will provide important breakthroughs for the treatment and prevention of virus-related neoplasms.
2.Advances in Bone Marrow Function Protection for Cervical Cancer Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy Informed by Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Cervical cancer is a common gynecological malignancy, and radiotherapy plays a crucial role in its treatment. However, conventional radiotherapy for cervical cancer often leads to bone marrow damage, considerably affecting patients’ quality of life and treatment outcomes. In recent years, the application of intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologies has provided novel solutions to this issue. IMRT optimizes dose distribution, minimizing radiation exposure to surrounding normal bone marrow tissues and thus considerably reducing damage. MRI allows for accurate tumor localization and monitoring, including organs at risk, such as the bone marrow, and providing precise guidance for radiotherapy. This article analyzes the feasibility and potential benefits of MRI-guided pelvic IMRT for bone marrow protection in cervical cancer, aiming to offer a basis for precise and effective bone marrow protection strategies in cervical cancer radiotherapy.

Superior vena cava syndrome(SVCS)is a group of clinical syndromes caused by obstruction of the superior vena cava and its major branches from various causes.Pulmonary artery stenosis(PS)is a complication of lung cancer or mediastinal tumours.SVCS combined with PS due to pulmonary metastases from bladder cancer is extremely rare and has not been reported in the literature.Here we reported an old male patient with pulmonary metastases from bladder cancer presenting with swelling of the head,neck and both upper limbs.SVCS combined with PS was clarified by pulmonary artery computed tomography angiography(CTA)and digital subtraction angiography(DSA).Endovascular stenting was used to treat SVCS.Angiography also showed that PS had not caused pulmonary hypertension and did not need to be treated.The swelling of the patient's head,neck and upper limbs was gradually reduced after the procedure.
4.Ultra-high dose rate FLASH irradiation reduces radiation-induced intestinal injury in mice

Objective:To investigate whether ultra-high dose rate (FLASH) irradiation can reduce radiation-induced intestinal injuries of mice compared to conventional dose rate (CONV) irradiation.Methods:Both FLASH and CONV irradiation were delivered with electron beam, with dose rates of 750 Gy/s and 0.5G y/s, respectively. A total of 105 mice were randomly divided into groups using a simple randomization method. Twenty-one mice were selected for weight observation, 7 mice in each group. After 9 Gy FLASH and CONV irradiation on the abdomen, the weight changes of mice were measured every other day, and compared among three groups. Twenty-four mice were selected for pathological examination including 5 mice in the control group. Three-and-a-half-day days after 12 Gy FLASH ( n=10) and CONV irradiation ( n=9) on the abdomen, the intestines of the mice were taken. Pathological sections were stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE) to compare the number and percentage of regenerated crypts of the small intestine between two groups. After 12 Gy FLASH ( n=10) and CONV irradiation ( n=10) on the abdomen, the survival of 20 mice was observed. After FLASH using 4.5 Gy×2 times ( n=10) and CONV irradiation at 9 Gy×1 time ( n=10) on the abdomen, the weight changes were observed. After FLASH using 6 Gy×2 times ( n=10) and CONV irradiation at 12 Gy×1 time ( n=10) on the abdomen, the survival of mice was observed. The time interval between two irradiation was 1 min. EBT3 film was employed to monitor the actual exposure dose of the mice. The variables conforming to normal distribution were expressed by Mean±SD. Inter group comparison was performed by independent t-test. The survival of mice among different groups was compared by log-rank test. Results:After 9 Gy of abdominal irradiation, the mean weight of mice in the FLASH group was significantly higher than that in the CONV group. The weight of mice in the FLASH and CONV groups was (19.8±0.8) g and (18.0±1.8)g ( P=0.036) at 7 days after irradiation, (22.0±1.0)g and (21.2±0.5)g ( P=0.075) at 15 days after irradiation, and (24.2±1.4)g and (22.0±1.2)g ( P=0.012) at 25 days after irradiation, respectively. After 12 Gy irradiation, the mean survival of mice in FLASH and CONV groups was 4 days and 4.7 days ( P=0.029). After 12 Gy total abdominal irradiation, the mean number of intestinal regenerative crypts in the FLASH and CONV groups was 2.9/mm and 1.2/mm ( P=0.041), and the percentage of intestinal regenerative crypts was 34.1% and 14.1%, respectively. The survival of mice irradiated by FLASH using 6 Gy×2 times was longer compared with that of mice after CONV irradiation at 12 Gy×1 time. The weight of mice after 4.5 Gy×2 times irradiation was higher than that of mice after CONV irradiation at 9 Gy×1 time. Conclusion:Weight, survival and the number of intestinal regenerative crypts in the FLASH group are higher than those in the CONV group after irradiation, indicating that radiation-induced intestinal injury caused by FLASH irradiation is slighter than that of CONV irradiation.
5.Cross-sectional study on working mode and human resource setting of PIVAS in national medical institutions

OBJECTIVE To know about the working mode and human resource status of pharmacy intravenous admixture services (PIVAS) in national medical institutions. METHODS Through questionnaire survey, the national PIVAS was invited to fill out questionnaire and statistical analysis was performed on the effective sample data related to PIVAS working mode and human resources in the questionnaire. RESULTS In this study, 761 PIVAS from 722 medical institutions of 29 provinces were involved in the questionnaire survey, with 471 valid questionnaires for working mode and 441 valid questionnaires for human resources survey. In terms of working mode, among 471 PIVAS, 292 PIVAS (62.0%) were in pharmacist-alone mode, and 176 PIVAS (37.4%) were in pharmacist-nurse cooperative mode; there was no significant difference in the types of medical orders received by PIVAS between these two working modes except for the other medical orders (P>0.05). In terms of human resource setting, among 441 PIVAS, the average number of total staff of single PIVAS was 24(16,33), including 11(6,19) pharmacists, 7(2,13) nursing staff, and 3(1,5) workers; there was a statistically significant difference in the number of personnel among three groups (P< 0.01). The per capita income of PIVAS respondents in 2019 was [7.9(4.8,10.7)]×104 yuan, and in 2021 it was [8.8(5.8,11.7)]× 104 yuan, with an increase of 9.0% compared to 2019. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P< 0.01). CONCLUSIONS Medical institutions’ PIVAS in China had not fully implemented the pharmacist-alone work model, and some medical institutions had chosen a pharmacist-nurse cooperative mode. It is suggested that relevant departments formulate corresponding qualification requirements and training standards for nursing personnel as soon as possible based on sufficient research on PIVAS’s demand for nursing professionals.
6.Cross-sectional study on balance of payments in PIVAS of medical institutions nationwide

OBJECTIVE To know about the pharmacy intravenous admixture charge and operation balance of pharmacy intravenous admixture services (PIVAS) in national medical institutions. METHODS Using questionnaire survey method, the national PIVAS leaders were invited to fill in the questionnaire, investigation and statistical analysis of the drug dispensing charge standard and the income and expenditure situations of PIVAS nationwide were conducted. RESULTS A total of 761 PIVAS completed the questionnaire, among which 466 PIVAS (61.2%) had already started implementing pharmacy intravenous admixture charge, mainly in tertiary hospitals. The charge standards for chemotherapy drugs and parenteral nutrition solutions were relatively high, while the standards for packaged drugs were the lowest, with differences in charge standards among provinces(P<0.05). Among the 25 provinces that reported annual drug preparation fee revenue, Hubei had the highest revenue in both 2019 and 2021. In 2019, the number of PIVAS with a balance of payments was more than that of PIVAS with an imbalance of payments, but the number of PIVAS with an imbalance of payments in 2021 exceeded the number of PIVAS with a balance of payments (P<0.05); among them, eight provinces were unbalanced in 2019 and 2021, such as Tianjin, Chongqing, Guizhou, etc. CONCLUSIONS PIVAS charge standards of the surveyed medical institutions in all provinces are not unified. It is suggested to improve the charge standard further, formulate the charge adjustment cycle, and promote a sustainable development of PIVAS.
7.Determination of chlorinated paraffins in PM2.5 by QuEChERS combined with ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole/orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry

Background Previous research on chlorinated paraffins (CPs) in fine particulate matter (PM2.5) has predominantly focused on short- and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs and MCCPs), and few studies could simultaneously determine short-, medium-, and long-chain chlorinated paraffins (LCCPs). Simultaneous extraction and determination of SCCPs, MCCPs, and LCCPs in PM2.5 could provide technical support for their environmental monitoring and human health risk assessment. Objective To establish a method based on QUEChERS pretreatment method in conjunction with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole/orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry for simultaneously determining the levels of SCCPs, MCCPs, and LCCPs in PM2.5. Methods The extraction solvents, extraction salts, and extraction steps of a QuEChERS method were optimized. The extraction efficiencies of the target substances were compared under 4 extraction solvents [acetonitrile, dichloromethane, and n-hexane solvents in sequence; acetonitrile: dichloromethane: n-hexane = 1: 1: 2 (v/v/v) mixed solvent; 1% acetic acid-acetonitrile: dichloromethane: n-hexane = 1: 1: 1 (v/v/v) mixed solvent; acetonitrile: dichloromethane: n-hexane = 1: 1: 1 (v/v/v) mixed solvent], 2 dehydrated salts (anhydrous MgSO4+NaCl and anhydrous Na2SO4+NaCl), 2 purification salts (C18 and PSA), and 4 vortex time (5, 7.5, 10, and 12.5 min) conditions. Then internal standard was utilized to estimate linear range and detection limit of the refined QuEChERS approach. Results The linearities of SCCPs, MCCPs, and LCCPs were good in the range of 10~
8.Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of respiratory syncytial virus infections in children in Jiangsu Province, 2014-2023

Objective:To analyze the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in children in Jiangsu Province from 2014 to 2023.Methods:The acute respiratory infection cases in children aged 0-14 years were selected from outpatient/emergency or inpatient departments in 2 surveillance sentinel hospitals, respectively, in Nanjing, Suzhou and Taizhou of Jiangsu from 1 July 2014 to 31 December 2023, and RSV nucleic acid test was conducted and the intensity of the RSV infection was accessed by WHO influenza epidemiological threshold method, and case information and clinical data were collected. χ2 test was used to compare the differences between groups, and the Bonferroni method was used for pairwise comparisons between groups. Results:In 4 946 cases of acute respiratory infections, the RSV positive rate was 8.21% (406/4 946), and the age M( Q1, Q3) of the cases was 1 (0, 3) years. The RSV positive rate was 10.92% (258/2 362) during 2014-2019 and 6.06% (118/1 948) during 2019-2023, the difference was significant ( χ2=31.74, P<0.001). RSV infection mainly occurred from October to March during 2014-2019, with the incidence peak in December and moderate or higher intensity. The seasonality of RSV infection was not obvious during 2019-2023, with low intensity. The RSV positive rate was highest in children in age group 0- years (17.85%, 151/846), and the positive rate declined gradually with age ( χ2=184.51, P<0.001). The RSV positive rate was higher in inpatient cases (9.84%, 244/2 480) than in outpatient/emergency cases (6.57%, 162/2 466) ( χ2=17.54, P<0.001). In the 155 RSV infection cases with complete clinical data, the clinical symptoms mainly included cough (99.35%, 154/155), fever (55.48%, 86/155), and shortness of breath (45.16%, 70/155). In the cases aged <6 months, the proportion of those with fever was low, but the proportion of those with shortness of breath, transferred to intensive care units, and receiving oxygen therapy were higher (all P<0.05). Children aged <6 months and those with underlying diseases were more likely to have severe RSV infection (all P<0.05). Conclusions:RSV infection in children in Jiangsu Province showed seasonal prevalence in winter from 2014 to 2019. Since 2020, the seasonal characteristics of the epidemic have changed, the epidemic period has been dispersed and the epidemic intensity has decreased. Infants <1 year old were at high risk for RSV infection, and those <6 months old and with underlying diseases might have severe infection.
9.Research progress on accuracy of intraoral digital impressions for implant-supported prostheses in edentulous jaw

With the rapid development of implant techniques and digital technology,intraoral digital impressions have become a commonly used impression method in implant restoration.At present,the accuracy of intraoral digital impressions directly applied to implant-supported prostheses in edentulous jaw remains inadequate.This is due to the high accuracy requirement of full-arch implant impressions,while there are still technical challenges in intraoral digital impressions about recognition and stitching.In this regard,scholars have proposed a variety of scanning strategies to improve the accuracy of intraoral scans,including mucosal modifications,auxiliary devices and novel scan bodies.At the same time,as a new digital impression technique,stereo photogrammetry has been developing steadily and exhibits promising accuracy.This article reviews the research progress on the accuracy of edentulous full-arch implant impressions and techniques which can improve the accuracy of intraoral digital impressions thus providing a reference for clinical application.

Acute mitral regurgitation(MR)in the setting of myocardial infarction(MI)may be the result of papillary muscle rupture(PMR).The clinical presentation can be catastrophic,with refractory cardiogenic shock.This condition is associated with high morbidity and mortality.Transcatheter edge-to-edge repair(TEER)has become increasingly common in treating severe mitral regurgitation.This case details a successful TEER is feasible and safe in patients with acute MR following MI.TEER is an emerging treatment option in this clinical scenario that should be taken into consideration.
