Objective In cases and events of mixed STR typing of aborted fetus, two methods for calculating paternity index(PI)of suspected biological fathers are proposed, which could be useful for theoretical reference for parental identification including mixed STR typing. Methods Depending on whether the fetal genotypes can be identified, the simple PI calculation method and the PI calculation method of deduced biological paternal genes when the fetal genotypes cannot be identified are proposed. Results The simple PI calculation method is to indentify the fetal genotypes first and then calculate according to the standard triplet. The PI calculation method of deduced biological paternal genes is to deduce all the possible genotypes of biological fathers conforming to Mendel's law(inference)without considering the ratio of peak height and peak area in mixed typing, and then calculate the parental index separately, taking the minimum value as the parental index of the locus. Conclusion When mixture ratio of fetus in the mixed typing of aborted tissue MR≥0.43,the accuracy of separation is very high and the simple PI calculation method can be accurate,so it is recommended. If 0.05≤MR<0.43,it is suggested to use the calculation method of deduced biological paternal genes, which can avoid misjudgment of irrelevant persons to the greatest extent. If MR<0.05,there's a high risk of fetal allele loss,we should not perform a paternity test on the mixed spot.Since the cumulative parental index calculated by deduced the biological paternal genes is usually lower than the value calculated by dividing the fetal genotype, the CPI may be lower than 10 000 when fewer loci are identified, and then more genetic markers should be detected.

Objective:To explore the safety and efficiency of a novel bipolar electric knife for endoscopic submucosal dissection. Methods:The thermal damage on tissue caused by the new bipolar knife and traditional monopolar knife were compared by finite element analysis. The vertical thermal damage to the porcine gastric wall caused by the two types of electric knife were analyzed in vitro animal experiments. In vivo animal experiments were used to compare operation related indexes of two types of electric knife, including en bloc resection rate and cutting efficiency in porcine digestive tract submucosal dissection. Results:Through overcoming deviation of experimental individuals and operator experience, the finite element model showed that the length, width and depth of thermal damage on tissue caused by the monopolar knife was 1.08 times, 1.12 times, and 1.23 times of that of the bipolar knife, respectively. Additionally, the bipolar knife caused less vertical thermal damage to the porcine gastric wall than the monopolar knife (433.25±42.58 μm VS 898.03±111.59 μm, t=6.740, P=0.003) in vitro animal experiments when charged for 1 s at the same power. Finally, in vivo animal experiments showed that the en bloc resection rates of the two kinds of electric knife systems were both 100.0%. In addition, the cutting area and cutting time of the bipolar knife was 229.58±185.29 mm 2 and 164.37±96.27 s, respectively. The corresponding indicators of the monopolar knife was 209.70±167.35 mm 2 and 162.65±69.97 s, respectively, and there was no significant difference (all P>0.05). Conclusion:The novel bipolar knife not only ensures the cutting efficiency but also reduces the thermal damage during endoscopic submucosal dissection in simulating experiment and animal experiment, which needs further verification in clinical trial.

Objective To apply 3D printing technology to fabricate patient-specific silicone tissue compensators for the chest wall and compare the advantages and clinical characteristics between conventional bolus and 3D-printed PLA materials. Methods The chest wall data of two breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy were obtained based upon the CT images. A patient-specific 3D printing silicone rubber bolus (3D-SRB) was designed and fabricated. The conformability of 3D-SRB,3D-PLA and conventional bolus to the chest wall were validated. Ecipse8. 6 planning system was adopted to statistically compare the dosimetric parameters of virtual plan with those after using three tissue compensators. Results The 3D-SRB was successfully designed and fabricated with a similar hardness to conventional bolus. During the process of validating conformability and radiotherapy planning,3D-SRB and 3D-PLA were superior to conventional bolus in terms of conformability to chest wall and planning dosimetric distribution.3D-SRB was advantageous in repeatability, conformability and comfortable experience compared with 3D-PLA. Regarding dosimetric parameters,3D-SRB yielded the highest repeatability with the virtual plan, followed by 3D-PLA and conventional bolus. Conclusion It is applicable to utilize 3D-SRB as the patient-specific compensators for the chest wall, which is of significance in clinical practice.

Objective To investigate protective effect of tribulus terrestris L (TTL) on photoreceptor in the model of light-induced retinal degeneration. Methods BALB/c mice were exposed to bright light at the intensity of 10 000 lux for 30 minutes to establish the retinal light damage models. The BALB/c mice were divided into normal control group, model group and treatment group,6 cases in each group.TTL decoction was intraperitoneally administered to mice 30 minutes prior to illumination in the treatment group.Saline vehicle was administered in the normal control group and model group.Photoreceptor protection of TTL was assessed by optical coherence tomography (OCT) at 3 hours and 7 days after illumination.Gross histology and immunohistochemistry approaches were also taken to examine the retinal protection conferred by TTL at 7 days after bright light exposure. Results Compared to normal retinal morphology in the normal control group, prominent photoreceptor loss and diminished rod and cone photoreceptors evidenced by attenuated retinal expression of rhodopsin and M-opsin were observed in the model group. In contrast,TTL treatment resulted in significant protection against bright light-induced photoreceptor degeneration and remarkable preservation of rod and cone photoreceptor cells. The outer retinal nuclear layer in the model group was thinner than that in the normal control group (P < 0.05),but the treatment group was thicker than the model group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Bright light induces obviously degeneration in photoreceptors in BALB/c mice. Moreover,TTL is shown for the first to significantly protect the photoreceptors from bright light-induced degeneration.
