1.Acceptability of information technology systems developed for Distant Philippine Communities among local health providers
Acta Medica Philippina 2021;55(4):473-480

		                        			Introduction:
The National Telehealth Service Program (NTSP) has developed Information Technology (IT) systems aimed at improving health services primarily in isolated Philippine communities. These included two electronic health records modalities (Community Health Information Tracking System, or CHITS, and Real-time Regular Routine Reporting for Health, or R4Health), a referral system (Telemedicine), and a remote diagnostic device (RxBox).

		                        			Objectives:
This study was undertaken to describe the utilization and cost patterns as well as the perceptions of the local health personnel regarding the use of the various NTSP systems. The implications of the end-user perceptions on the acceptability and expanded use of the IT interventions were inferred, from which corresponding policy recommendations were made.

		                        			Methods:
Twelve NTSP sites, including far-flung and economically depressed communities, where the systems were concurrently available over a defined six month period, were selected. The frequency of respective system transactions for these sites was collected from NTSP files. Interviews and focus group discussions were conducted at the communities, involving physicians, nurses, midwives, and other health workers. Associated costs, and perceptions related to the adoption, operation, and sustained use of the IT systems were elucidated.

		                        			Results:
Telemedicine, though the least costly modality, was the least utilized of the systems. While both R4Health and CHITS facilitated health data management, CHITS provided more locally-relevant information. The RxBox system, due to its clinical diagnostic device component, was widely accepted and also increased health center consultations, especially among pregnant patients. Technical malfunctions, as well as system failures following natural calamities, were recurrent problems.

		                        			Conclusions
The RxBox system, with its bundled health records and specialist consultation functions, is highly accepted by health providers and other community stakeholders. The technology can be expected to be similarly well-regarded in other settings. The stand-alone IT modalities that do not directly or significantly benefit the actual implementers are not as sustainable.

Nowadays, the massive medical data have already influenced the information construction in medical institutes, so it is not enough to solely rely on traditional local storage system to solve the problems like the read/write speed, visualization, and economy brought about by the massive data. Furthermore, various medical cloud services have been developed at home and abroad that patients' medical data can be shared through all medical institutes on the cloud, which makes a higher demand on the transmission speed of the medical data. This article analyzes from multiple aspects like high availability and costs by performing a medical image transmission speed test on the three mainstream storage technologies to provide an optional storage system for future medical image big data in the access process. The experimental result shows that it can be found that in the process of accessing medical image big data, the access speed and performance of object storage system is better than those of the existing local storage systems. However, with comprehensive consideration, it is recommended that the distributed file storage system like HDFS be the first choice for the storage system of the medical images.

The pathogenesis of autistic spectrum disorders is complicated and the exact etiology and pathogenesis remain unclear. Major advances in spatial information technology have revealed the potential of spatial information technology as an effective tool in research and treatment for children with autistic spectrum disorders. However, there are too many fragmented research topics. According to recent reports on spatial information technology, there is no precedent for the application of spatial information technology in autistic spectrum disorders in China. Space information technology analysis for autistic spectrum disorders can be divided into the following steps: pre analysis, spatial clustering analysis, spatial model analysis, and interpretation of related results. It is hopeful that the space information technology can provide proposals for the future research on the pathogenesis of autistic spectrum disorders in our country.

OBJECTIVES: Falling in the elderly is considered a major cause of death. In recent years, ambient and wireless sensor platforms have been extensively used in developed countries for the detection of falls in the elderly. However, we believe extra efforts are required to address this issue in developing countries, such as Pakistan, where most deaths due to falls are not even reported. Considering this, in this paper, we propose a fall detection system prototype that s based on the classification on real time shimmer sensor data. METHODS: We first developed a data set, ‘SMotion’ of certain postures that could lead to falls in the elderly by using a body area network of Shimmer sensors and categorized the items in this data set into age and weight groups. We developed a feature selection and classification system using three classifiers, namely, support vector machine (SVM), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), and neural network (NN). Finally, a prototype was fabricated to generate alerts to caregivers, health experts, or emergency services in case of fall. RESULTS: To evaluate the proposed system, SVM, KNN, and NN were used. The results of this study identified KNN as the most accurate classifier with maximum accuracy of 96% for age groups and 93% for weight groups. CONCLUSIONS: In this paper, a classification-based fall detection system is proposed. For this purpose, the SMotion data set was developed and categorized into two groups (age and weight groups). The proposed fall detection system for the elderly is implemented through a body area sensor network using third-generation sensors. The evaluation results demonstrate the reasonable performance of the proposed fall detection prototype system in the tested scenarios.

OBJECTIVES: The number of healthcare institutions adopting smartphones continues to increase, implying that their utilization is undoubtedly gaining attention. Understanding the needs of smartphone users will provide a greater opportunity for successful information technology acceptance by expanding the scope of its utilization. This study focuses on how smartphones are accepted and utilized in hospitals and analyzes the factors influencing users' attitude, social influence, and intention of use. METHODS: For the study model, the researcher has mainly adopted the Theory of Reasoned Action and further modified and used the models of Technology Acceptance and Information Systems Success. To test the model empirically, a survey was conducted with 122 professionals on information development teams in Korean tertiary hospitals. RESULTS: The common smartphone usage modes were Internet searching, e-mail, scheduling, and social networking in consecutive order. Phone calls consisted of 51.4% of work-related purposes, while other functions, such as text message, Web browser, and scheduling, were mostly used for personal purposes. Costs, contents quality, innovation, ease of use, and support were shown to have statistically significant effects on user attitude, and social influence, portability, security, content quality, and innovation were significant. User attitude and social influence were both statistically significant with respect to intention of use, with user attitude greater than social influence. CONCLUSIONS: The participating staff were analyzed as having strong personal faith and principles, independent from their external environment. Timely information exchanges among medical staff will facilitate appropriate communication and improved health services to patients in need.

The herbs used as the material for traditional Chinese medicine are mostly planted at mountain areas where there is appropriate weather condition. Due to the complex terrain condition in mountain area, the planting at such places is always associated with a scattered pattern, which inevitably bring difficulty to the work of accurate measurement for the planting area. Advanced research about monitoring the planting area for medicine-herb under complex environmental condition is so critical and meaningful for developing the medicine-herb planting to a large scale and an industry. Therefore, this research, taking the planting of Herpetospermum pedunculosum in Luding county as an example, utilizes RS&GIS: using the image data from TM and ETM datum as the remote sensing information source, integrating GPS data from quadrat survey on the spots, and analyzing on a GIS platform, to extract the planting area of H. pedunculosum in Luding county. The results indicate that: (1) the method and technology used to estimate the planting area of H. pedunculosum are feasible and can be applied to monitoring the planting area of medicine-herb at mountain area under complex environmental conditions: (2) the planting area of H. pedunculosum in Luding county is estimated to be 857. 246 acres by the methods utilized in this research, which is closed to the value from local statistical data with an error range less than 5%; (3) in consideration of those inevitable errorrs generating from the procedures such as remote sensing data acquisition, data preprocessing, data interpretation, and so on, and the fact that the classification of remote sensing data, which must be implemented by those above procedures, was used directly to extract the herb type, the accuracy of area estimation for the herb is significantly influenced by the accuracy of classification for herb type, and the estimated area is inevitably associated with some error.

To investigate the resources of medicinal plant, such as wild Apocynum, supervised classification based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and texture feature were used to monitor wild medicinal plants from image captured by ZY-3 and World-view-2 and compare which satellite Image are more appropriate to monitor the wild medicinal plants. The research results shows that: for more complex growth conditions wild medicinal plants Apocynum, high-resolution images Worldview-2 is more suitable for its remote identification, the low-resolution satellite ZY-3 can only recognizes the wild medicinal plants which distributed intensively. If the study target distribution is more intensive and larger scale, and cultivated type medicinal plants, the use of satellite ZY-3 in low resolution remote sensing data to identify the target can be a good choice, it is not necessary to buy high-resolution data, in order to avoid waste of expenditure, for the scattered distribution, the high-resolution satellite imagery data may be indispensable to identify targets.

OBJECTIVES: Korea has one of the most advanced information technology (IT) infrastructures in the world, and the application of IT in health systems is rapidly progressing from computerization to information systems, ubiquitous systems, and smart systems. This study aims to analyze Korean environments in regards to the development of their u-Health industry and propose directions for u-Healthcare services based on this analysis. METHODS: This paper reviews the background, progress history, and current status of u-Health in Korea, and suggests strategies for the u-Health industry based on an analysis of its barriers and obstacles. RESULTS: When u-Health was introduced to Koreans, their policies and approaches focused mainly on environmental factors, yet these efforts have not progressed further to impact the u-Healthcare service industry itself. To develop the u-Healthcare industry, four points need to be considered: the development and support of the practical service model, institutional support, support of core technology and industry, and the institutionalization of health management service. CONCLUSIONS: Korea is at a strategic point to start building u-Healthcare service delivery models. u-Healthcare is a healthcare service that provides added value through u-Health environments. By identifying critical success factors in u-Healthcare, we can strengthen the u-Health industry and implement policies to coordinate our efforts in the process of value chains to which we belong.

Resources survey of traditional Chinese medicine and reserves estimation are found to be the most important issues for the protection and utilization of traditional Chinese medicine resources, this paper used multi-spatial resolution remote sensing images (RS) , geographic information systems (GIS) and global positioning system (GPS) , to establish Scutellaria resources survey of 3S data platform. Combined with the traditional field survey methods, small-scale habitat types were established based on different skullcap reserve estimation model, which can estimate reserves of the wild Scutellaria in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and improve the estimation accuracy. It can provide an important parameter for the fourth national survey of traditional Chinese medicine resources and traditional Chinese medicine reserves estimates based on 3S technology by multiple spatial scales model.
