Background::Copper and zinc are involved in the development of multiple malignancies; yet, epidemiological evidence on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is limited. This study aimed to investigate the association between dietary intake and serum levels of copper and zinc with the risk of HCC.Methods::A total of 434 case-control pairs matched for sex and age (±1 year) were included in this study. Cases with newly diagnosed HCC were from the Guangdong Liver Cancer Cohort (GLCC) study, and healthy controls were from the Guangzhou Nutrition and Health Study (GNHS). A semi-quantitative 79-item food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) was used to assess habitual dietary intakes of copper and zinc. Serum levels of copper and zinc were measured by using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. The copper (Cu)/ zinc (Zn) ratio was computed by dividing copper levels by zinc levels. Conditional logistic regression models were performed to calculate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for per 1 standard deviation increase (per-SD increase) in copper and zinc levels.Results::Higher dietary intake (OR per-SD increase = 0.65, 95% CI: 0.44, 0.96, Ptrend = 0.029) and serum levels of zinc (OR per-SD increase = 0.11, 95% CI: 0.04, 0.30, Ptrend <0.001) were both associated with a lower risk of HCC. Subgroup analyses showed that the inverse association was only pronounced in men but not in women ( Pinteraction = 0.041 for dietary zinc intake and 0.010 for serum zinc levels). Serum copper levels (OR per-SD increase = 2.05, 95% CI: 1.39, 3.03, Ptrend = 0.020) and serum Cu/Zn ratio (OR per-SD increase = 6.53, 95% CI: 2.52, 16.92, Ptrend <0.001) were positively associated with HCC risk, while dietary copper intake and dietary Cu/Zn ratio were not associated with HCC risk. Conclusion::Zinc may be a protective factor for HCC, especially among men, but the effects of copper on HCC risk are not clear.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is a chronic and progressive autoimmune disease.Current clinical treatments for RA often exhibit inadequate drug responses and severe adverse effects, underscoring the necessity for alternative therapies.Baicalin,a flavonoid derived from Scutellaria baicalensis roots, possesses anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,and immunomodulatory properties.Research suggests that baicalin can inhibit the release of inflamma-tory mediators, thereby reducing inflammation. Moreover,it demonstrates antioxidant effects by decreasing reactive oxygen species production and mitigating synovial damage induced by oxidative stress.Baicalin may impede the activation of inflammatory cytokines through pathways such as NF-κB,MAPKs,and JAK-STAT signaling cascades while inducing apoptosis, regulating immune cell activity, and balancing immune mediators to impact synovitis progression.Clinically, both monotherapy with baicalin or its combination with other formulations have exhibited efficacy and safety profiles. The advancement in targeted drug delivery systems has improved its bioavailability further suggesting promising clinical applications. This review provides an overview of research progress on baicalin's mechanisms in inhibiting RA synovitis along with its clinical applications.

【Objective】 To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) in the retroperitoneum. 【Methods】 We summarized the clinical and prognostic data of nine patients admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University between January 2007 and December 2017 who were diagnosed with SFT by surgical resection and pathological examination. Nine cases of retroperitoneal SFT were detected by HE and immunohistochemical SP method. The expressions of Vimintin (Vim), CD34, CD99, Ki-67, Bcl-2 and S-100 in tumor cells were analyzed for their clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis. 【Results】 Among the nine patients, four were male and five were female, aged 37-69 years old. Five of them showed abdominal distension, while the other four had no obvious clinical symptoms. The tumor size was (1.0 cm×1.0 cm×2.0 cm)-(30.0 cm×25.0 cm×10.0 cm). There were seven single cases and two multiple cases. Histology showed bundle-shaped, braided spindle cells and collagen fibers of varying degrees, accompanied by mucinous degeneration and hemangiopericytoma-like morphology. Immunohistochemical results were as follows: The positive rate was 100% (9/9) for Vim, CD34 and CD99, 77% (7/9) for Ki-67, 67% (6/9) for Bcl-2, and 22% (2/9) for S-100. All the patients were followed up effectively. Two of them died (the cause of death was not related to the disease studied, and the survival time from postoperative to death was 6.5 years and 8.3 years, respectively). One surviving case relapsed 3 years after the operation, but did not recur after the second operation. No recurrence or metastasis was found in the remaining cases. 【Conclusion】 Retroperitoneal SFT is rare in the clinic, and there are no typical clinical symptoms in the early stage. Most of them are detected in physical check-ups. Ultrasound and CT examinations are the main preoperative examination methods, but they are not specific to SFT. Pathological examination is the only method for diagnosis. Radical resection is the first-choice of treatment. The preferred method for this disease is effective in early radical surgery and regular postoperative review.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2020;22(9):1332-1336
Objective:To investigate the effect of scar uterus on assisted reproduction treatment strategy. Methods:From January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017, 109 cases of scar uterus group and 63 cases of vaginal delivery history group who underwent in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) assisted pregnancy fresh embryo transfer in our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Results:⑴ There was no significant difference in the total amount of gonadotropin (Gn) and the total days of GN in patients <35 between scar uterus group and the vaginal delivery history group ( P>0.05), but there were significant differences in the number of oocytes, mature oocytes, two pronucleus (2PN) and excellent embryos between the scar uterus group and the vaginal delivery history group ( P<0.05). When the age was ≥35 years old, there was no significant difference in the total number of GN, the total days of GN, the number of oocytes obtained, the number of mature oocytes, the number of 2PN and the number of excellent embryos between the two groups ( P>0.05). ⑵ There were no statistically significant differences in clinical pregnancy rate and embryo implantation rate between the two groups of patients < 35 years old, no matter single embryo transplantation or double embryos transplantation. When transplant two embryos, the clinical pregnancy rate and embryo implantation rate in the scar uterus group were slightly lower than those in the vaginal delivery history group (57.57% vs 71.05% and 39.39% vs 47.37%, respectively), but with no significant difference ( P>0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the clinical pregnancy rate and embryo implantation rate between single embryo transplantation and double embryo transplantation in patients≥35 years old ( P>0.05). ⑶ There were no statistically differences in biochemical pregnancy rate, early abortion rate, preterm birth rate and average newborn weight between the scar uterus group and the vaginal delivery history group ( P>0.05). Conclusions:Cesarean section may affect the ovarian function. For patients with previous cesarean section, early evaluation of ovarian function is recommended. Single embryo transfer does not reduce the outcome in IVF-ET. It is recommended to perform single embryo transfer for patients with scar uterus to reduce the risk during pregnancy of twin pregnancy.

Yonsei Medical Journal 2019;60(10):905-913
PURPOSE: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common malignant tumor of liver cells. Researchers have reported that cancer susceptibility candidate 2 (CASC2), a long non-coding RNA, is down-regulated in various cancers, including HCC. Our study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism(s) of CASC2 in HCC. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to analyze the expression of CASC2 and miR-183 in HCC tissues and cells. The viability of HCC SMMC-7721 and Huh-7 cells was detected through MTT assay. Colony formation assay was performed to assess the colony formation ability of HCC cells. The migration and invasion abilities of HCC cells were evaluated by Transwell assay. Western blot was conducted to examine levels of key Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway factors, C-myc, cyclinD, survivin, and β-catenin. The interaction between CASC2 and miR-183 was affirmed by bioinformatics analysis and luciferase reporter assay. RESULTS: CASC2 was down-regulated in HCC tissues and cell lines, while miR-183 was up-regulated. The expression of miR-183 was negatively correlated with CASC2 expression in HCC tissues. Overexpression of CASC2 inhibited cell viability, colony formation, migration, and invasion in HCC cells, as well as Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway activity. miR-183 was a downstream target of CASC2 and negatively regulated by CASC2. Introduction of miR-183 rescued CASC2-induced suppressive effects on HCC cell viability, colony formation, migration, and invasion and Wnt/β-catenin signaling. CONCLUSION: CASC2 inhibited cell viability and the colony formation, migration, and invasion abilities of HCC cells by directly downregulating miR-183 through inactivation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway.
