1.Reference values of carotid intima-media thickness and arterial stiffness in Chinese adults based on ultrasound radio frequency signal: A nationwide, multicenter study

		                        			Background::Carotid intima-media thickness (IMT) and diameter, stiffness, and wave reflections, are independent and important clinical biomarkers and risk predictors for cardiovascular diseases. The purpose of the present study was to establish nationwide reference values of carotid properties for healthy Chinese adults and to explore potential clinical determinants.Methods::A total of 3053 healthy Han Chinese adults (1922 women) aged 18-79 years were enrolled at 28 collaborating tertiary centers throughout China between April 2021 and July 2022. The real-time tracking of common carotid artery walls was achieved by the radio frequency (RF) ultrasound system. The IMT, diameter, compliance coefficient, β stiffness, local pulse wave velocity (PWV), local systolic blood pressure, augmented pressure (AP), and augmentation index (AIx) were then automatically measured and reported. Data were stratified by age groups and sex. The relationships between age and carotid property parameters were analyzed by Jonckheere-Terpstra test and simple linear regressions. The major clinical determinants of carotid properties were identified by Pearson’s correlation, multiple linear regression, and analyses of covariance.Results::All the parameters of carotid properties demonstrated significantly age-related trajectories. Women showed thinner IMT, smaller carotid diameter, larger AP, and AIx than men. The β stiffness and PWV were significantly higher in men than women before forties, but the differences reversed after that. The increase rate of carotid IMT (5.5 μm/year in women and 5.8 μm/year in men) and diameter (0.03 mm/year in both men and women) were similar between men and women. For the stiffness and wave reflections, women showed significantly larger age-related variations than men as demonstrated by steeper regression slopes (all P for age by sex interaction <0.05). The blood pressures, body mass index (BMI), and triglyceride levels were identified as major clinical determinants of carotid properties with adjustment of age and sex. Conclusions::The age- and sex-specific reference values of carotid properties measured by RF ultrasound for healthy Chinese adults were established. 2.Epidemic characteristics and trend analysis of heart failure in Guangzhou in 2017-2021

		                        			Objective  To understand the epidemic characteristics of heart failure in Guangzhou, and to provide a basis for the prevention and control of heart failure. Methods  The information of patients hospitalized for heart failure in Guangzhou from January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2021 was collected, and t test, rank sum test, and χ2 test were used to analyze the differences of central tendency and composition ratio.  Results  From 2017 to 2021, there were 6 823 hospitalized patients with heart failure in Guangzhou, with 8,716 hospitalizations and 849 deaths. The average age of hospitalization was 78.50 ±10.48 years old. Male patients were younger than female patients (P<0.001), and females died 3.86 years later than males on average (P<0.001). The number of hospitalizations for males (4 251 person times, accounting for 48.77%) was less than that for females (4 465 person times, accounting for 51.23%), and the number of hospitalizations for urban registered residence (7 346 person times, accounting for 84.28%) was much more than that for rural registered residence (1 370 person times, accounting for 15.72%). The number of hospitalizations in the fourth quarter was the largest. The combined rates of coronary heart disease, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and hyperlipidemia were 58.65%, 69.52%, 34.92%, 10.69% and 10.23% respectively. There were differences in age, registered residence, residential area and complications among patients with acute and chronic heart failure (P<0.05).  Conclusion  The mortality of patients with heart failure in Guangzhou is high, and the distribution characteristics of acute and chronic heart failure is different. 4.Association between volatile organic compounds and mortality risk of stroke

		                        			Objective:To investigate the effect of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) exposure in the atmosphere on the risk of daily death from stroke in Guangzhou.Methods:Daily average concentrations of twelve atmospheric VOCs, meteorological factors, and daily deaths for stroke and its subtypes (including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke) in Guangzhou from 2020 to 2021 were collected. The time-series Poisson generalized additive model was established to analyze the relationship between daily average concentrations of atmospheric VOCs and daily mortality from a stroke on different lag days. The season, gender, and age group further performed stratification analysis.Results:Toluene and n-pentane were associated with a higher mortality risk from stroke and its subtypes. For each interquartile range ( IQR) increment in toluene concentration at lag0- 1 days, the RRs for mortality from stroke and hemorrhagic stroke were 1.060 (95% CI: 1.036-1.085) and 1.071 (95% CI: 1.030-1.113), respectively. For each IQR increment in n-pentane concentration, the RR for mortality from ischemic stroke was 1.064 (95% CI: 1.030-1.099). The effect estimates of VOCs may be higher during the cold season and among women and people aged ≥75 years. For each IQR increment in toluene concentration, the RRs for mortality risk of stroke in the cold season and women were 1.099 (95% CI: 1.056-1.143) and 1.085 (95% CI: 1.050-1.120), respectively. For n-pentane, the RR for death risk of stroke in people aged ≥75 years old was 1.072 (95% CI: 1.036-1.109). Results of sensitivity analysis showed that the effect estimates fluctuated less when PM 2.5 and O 3 were separately introduced for the two-pollutant model, as well as changing the degrees of freedom for covariates. Conclusions:This study suggests that VOCs may be an independent risk factor for daily mortality from stroke. 		                        			Objective:The aim of this study is to analyze the distribution features of patients with solitary plasmacytoma and calculate the prevalence of solitary plasmacytoma in China in the year 2016.Methods:This study was based on China’s urban employees’ basic medical insurance and the urban residences’ basic medical insurance from 21 provinces from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016. Patients with solitary plasmacytoma were identified by disease names and codes. Subgroup analyses were carried out by sex, region, and age. Furthermore, sensitivity analyses were performed to test the robustness of the results. Age-adjusted prevalence was calculated based on the 2010 Chinese census data, the 2013 Revised European Standard Population, the 2010 US population, and the 2011 Australian population.Results:In 2016, the prevalence of solitary plasmacytoma in China was 1.18 per 100 000 population (95% CI, 1.06-1.31) , with 1.26 per 100 000 population (95% CI, 1.10-1.43) and 1.10 per 100 000 population (95% CI, 0.93-1.29) for males and females, respectively. The age-adjusted prevalence based on the 2010 Chinese census data was 0.85 per 100 000 population (95% CI, 0.82-0.88) . Conclusion:This study estimated the prevalence of solitary plasmacytoma in China on the basis of the national urban medical insurance, which can provide clues for the enactment of solitary plasmacytoma-related medical policies and basic studies about solitary plasmacytoma.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
7.Effect of different liver function Child-Pugh classification on clinical prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma recipients after liver transplantation

		                        			 Objective To evaluate the effect of the different Child-Pugh classification on the recurrence and survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) recipients after liver transplantation. Methods Clinical data of 125 HCC recipients undergoing liver transplantation were retrospectively analyzed. The 3-year disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were calculated by Kaplan-Meier survival curve. The independent risk factors probably affecting the recurrence and survival of HCC recipients after liver transplantation were identified by using Cox's proportional hazards regression model. Results The median follow-up time was 25.6 months. The 3-year DFS and OS rates were 68.4% and 65.7% for all patients. 		                        			To evaluate the burden and to describe the characteristics of spatial distribution caused by malignant tumors among different administrative areas in Guangzhou from 2010- 2013.
		                        		
		                        			Methods:
		                        			Based on data from the Cancer Registry system and population in Guangzhou in 2010- 2013, disability-adjusted life year (DALY) was assessed on the disease burden of cancer, in accordance with the method used in the Global Burden of Disease study.
		                        		
		                        			Results:
		                        			The crude incidence rates of cancer appeared as 256.22/105 in 2010-2011 and 270.04/105 in 2012-2013, with the crude mortality rates as 143.17/105 and 148.01/105, respectively, in Guangzhou. Cancers caused 606 238.95 DALYs in 2010-2011 and 623 763.80 DALYs in 2012-2013 for both sexes and 37.63 and 37.81 person year per 1 000 persons, with the standardized DALY rates as 34.51‰, 34.00‰ respectively. 		                        			OBJECTIVE:To evaluate clinical efficacy of Angong niuhuang pill combined with chemical drug in the treatment of severe craniocerebral injury and its effect on the concentration of Mg2+ in peripheral blood,and to provide evidence-based reference in clinic.METHODS:Retrieved from Chinese Journal Full-text Database,China Science and Technology Journal Database,China Bxdxiology Medicine disc,Wanfang Database,Chinese Clinical Trial Registry,PubMed,Excerpta Media Database,The Cochrane Library,Web of Science,Clinical Trials,and related literatures of intemet searched by Google Scholar,randomized controlled trials (RCT) about Angong niuhuang pill combined with chemical drug (trial group) vs.chemical drug (control group) in the treatment of severe craniocerebral injury and its effects on the concentration of Mg2+ in peripheral blood were collected.After literature screening,data extraction,quality evaluation with modified Jadad scale,meta-analysis of Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scores and Mg2+ concentration in peripheral blood were conducted by using Rev Man 5.3 statistical software after 7 d of treatment.RESULTS:A total of 6 RCTs were included,involving 773 patients.Results of meta-analysis showed that GCS [MD=2.87,95%CI (1.64,4.10),P<0.01] and Mg2+ concentration in peripheral blood [MD=0.11,95%CI(0.06,0.16),P<0.01] of trial group were significantly higher than those of control group,with statistical significance.CONCLUSIONS:Therapeutic efficacy of Angong niuhuang pill combined with chemical drug is better than that of chemical drug alone in the treatment of severe craniocerebral injury,can improve clinical symptom and prognosis.
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
10.Effects of Single Dose of Cisplatin on Renal Interstitial Fibrosis Indicators in Rats

		                        			OBJECTIVE: To discuss the effects of single dose of cisplatin on renal interstitial fibrosis indicators in rats dynamically. METHODS: 72 SD rats were randomly divided into normal group and cisplatin group, with 36 rats in each group. Normal group and cisplatin group were given equal volume of normal saline and cisplatin 5 mg/kg intraperitoneally on the first day, respectively. Each 6 rats were sacrificed on 8th, 14th, 30th, 50th, 60th, 90th day. The serum levels of blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) were determined, and the degree of renal tubulointerstitial injury and relative area of renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis were evaluated. The expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), type Ⅰ collagen (Col Ⅰ) and transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) were determined in renal tissue. RESULTS: Compared with normal group, the serum levels of BUN and Cr, renal tubulointerstitial injury indexes, relative area of renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis, and the expression of α-SMA, Col Ⅰ and TGF-β1 in renal tissue were increased significantly (P<0. 05 or P<0. 01). In cisplatin group, within the 8th-90th days, serum level of BUN in rats had no significant change; serum level of Cr, renal tubulointerstitial injury indexes, renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis, the expression of a-SMA, Col Ⅰ and TGF-β1 in renal tissue increased first and then decreased. CONCLUSIONS: A single dose of clinical dose of cisplatin can induce renal interstitial fibrosis in rats, and its mechanism may be related to the expression of TGF-β1 in renal tissue.
