Objective:
To explore the association among neck-shoulder pain (NSP), low back pain (LBP) and co occurring symptoms with mental sub health in adolescents, so as to provide evidence for improving physical and mental health of adolescents.
Methods:
Stratified cluster random sampling method was used to select 7 986 students from 12 middle and high schools in Shenzhen, Nanchang, and Shenyang cities from October to December 2019. The Assessment of Spinal Health of Youth (ASHY) and the Brief Instrument on Psychological Health of Youth (BIOPHY) were used to assess NSP, LBP and mental sub health. Binary Logistic regression model was used to analyze the association between NSP, LBP and co occurring symptoms with mental sub health in adolescents.
Results:
The detection rates of adolescents with NSP, LBP and co occurring symptoms and mental sub health were 9.1% , 9.8%, 9.5%, and 10.0%, respectively. The co occurring rate of neck shoulder pain, low back pain and mental sub health was 3.2%. After adjusting for confounding variables such as gender, age, being an only child, family residence, and parental education level, NSP ( OR=6.01, 95%CI =5.02-7.19), LBP ( OR=5.08, 95%CI =4.25-6.07), and co occurring symptoms ( OR= 5.96 , 95%CI =4.98-7.12) in adolescents were positively correlated with mental sub health risk ( P <0.01). Stratifying the gender, boys with NSP, LBP and co occurring symptoms ( OR =6.84, 5.80, 6.74)had a higher risk of mental sub health compared to girls ( OR =5.52, 4.65, 5.49) ( P <0.01).
Conclusions
NSP, LBP and co occurring symptoms in adolescents are associated with mental sub health. The mental health status of boys is more affected by NSP, LBP and their co occurring symptoms. Measures should be taken to improve spinal health in adolescents to reduce the incidence of mental sub health.

ObjectiveTo observe the effects of Youguiwan on bone metabolism and bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2)/Smad signaling pathway in ovaries-removed rats with osteoporosis and study the mechanism of Youguiwan in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. MethodA postmenopausal rat model of osteoporosis was prepared by bilateral ovariectomy. The 40 female SD rats were randomly divided into five groups, including sham operation group, model group, alendronate sodium group (0.1 mg·kg-1), and high-dose and low-dose (5.36 and 2.68 g·kg-1) groups of Youguiwan. The drug was given seven days after modeling, once a day for 12 weeks. After the treatment, the changes in femur tissue structure were observed by micro-CT, including bone mineral density (BMD), bone volume/total volume (BV/TV), trabecular number (Tb.N), trabecular thickness (Tb.Th), bone surface/bone volume (BS/BV), and trabecular separation (Tb.Sp). Ossification was observed by saffrane-solid green staining, and serum levels of bone metabolism markers, including bone alkaline phosphatase (BALP), osteocalcin (BGP), type Ⅰ procollagen amino terminal propeptide (PINP), and tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b (TRACP-5b), were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The protein and mRNA expression levels of Runx2, BMP-2, and Smad1 in rat femur were detected by Western blot and Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (Real-time PCR). ResultCompared with the sham operation group, bone trabecula in the model group was sparse. BMD, BV/TV, Tb.N, and Tb.Th were decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01). BS/BV (P<0.05) and Tb.Sp were increased. The content of BGP, BALP, PINP, and TRACP-5b in serum was significantly increased (P<0.01). The mRNA and protein expressions of Runx2, BMP-2, and Smad1 in rat femur were significantly decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01). Compared with the model group, the number of bone trabeculae in the high-dose and low-dose groups of Youguiwan was increased, and the bone microstructure was improved. BMD, BV/TV, Tb.N, and Tb.Th were increased significantly (P<0.05, P<0.01), and BS/BV and Tb.Sp were increased. The content of bone metabolic markers decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01). ConclusionYouguiwan has certain preventive and therapeutic effects on postmenopausal osteoporosis, and its mechanism may be related to promoting bone formation by regulating the BMP-2/Smad signaling pathway.

Circular RNA(circRNA)is an emerging class of endogenous non-coding RNA,which is widely expressed in the brain and plays an important role in a variety of biological processes.Research has shown that circRNA plays a key role in physiological and pathological processes of the brain, such as neurodevelopment, synaptic plasticity and neurodegenerative diseases through a variety of mecha-nisms such as adsorption of microRNA,binding to proteins and translation of peptides. In the field of drug addiction, the expression of circRNA is significantly changed in animal models and brains of addicts, and the regulation involves neural adaptation in brain regions that form the reward circuit such as the nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortex.Additionally,addiction-related circRNAs are closely associated with neurotransmitter systems, signaling pathways, and neuroinflammatory responses, and they influ-ence the formation and maintenance of drug addiction by modulating gene expression networks related to drug addiction. Here, the biogenesis and regulatory mechanism of circRNA as well as its important role in brain function and drug addiction are reviewed in order to provide a new perspective for explora-tions of the pathological mechanism of drug addiction.

Hip fracture in the elderly is characterized by high incidence, high disability rate, and high mortality and has been recognized as a public health issue threatening their health. Surgery is the preferred choice for the treatment of elderly patients with hip fracture. However, lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) has an extremely high incidence rate during the perioperative period, and may significantly increase the risk of patients′ death once it progresses to pulmonary embolism. In response to this issue, the clinical guidelines and expert consensuses all emphasize active application of comprehensive preventive measures, including basic prevention, physical prevention, and pharmacological prevention. In this prevention system, basic prevention is the basis of physical and pharmacological prevention. However, there is a lack of unified and definite recommendations for basic preventive measures in clinical practice. To this end, the Orthopedic Nursing Professional Committee of the Chinese Nursing Association and Nursing Department of the Orthopedic Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotive Association for Medical and Health Care organized relevant nursing experts to formulate Expert consensus on perioperative basic prevention for lower extremity deep venous thrombosis in elderly patients with hip fracture ( version 2024) . A total of 10 recommendations were proposed, aiming to standardize the basic preventive measures for lower extremity DVT in elderly patients with hip fractures during the perioperative period and promote their subsequent rehabilitation.

Interleukin (IL)-17A, a pro-inflammatory cytokine, is a fundamental function in the onset and advancement of multiple immune diseases. To uncover the primary compounds with IL-17A inhibitory activity, a large-scale screening of the library of traditional Chinese medicine constituents and microbial secondary metabolites was conducted using splenic cells from IL-17A-GFP reporter mice cultured under Th17-priming conditions. Our results indicated that some aureane-type sesquiterpene tetraketides isolated from a wetland mud-derived fungus, Myrothecium gramineum, showed remarkable IL-17A inhibitory activity. Nine new aureane-type sesquiterpene tetraketides, myrogramins A-I ( 1, 4- 11), and two known ones ( 2 and 3) were isolated and identified from the strain. Compounds 1, 3, 4, 10, and 11 exhibited significant IL-17A inhibitory activity. Among them, compound 3, with a high fermentation yield dose-dependently inhibited the generation of IL-17A and suppressed glycolysis in splenic cells under Th17-priming conditions. Strikingly, compound 3 suppressed immunopathology in both IL-17A-mediated animal models of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis and pulmonary hypertension. Our results revealed that aureane-type sesquiterpene tetraketides are a novel class of immunomodulators with IL-17A inhibitory activity, and hold great promise applications in treating IL-17A-mediated immune diseases.
10.Thinking of the cultivation mode of preventive medicine undergraduates based on student research training projects
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2023;22(1):108-111
There are still some shortcomings in the training of preventive medicine undergraduates in China, such as outdated education mode, disjointed theory/practice, and lack of multi-dimensional integration. This paper proposes an attempt to reform the cultivation mode of preventive medicine undergraduates by combining student research training programs. However, many problems have been exposed during the implementation of the reform, and it has not achieved satisfactory results, especially in emergency management and solving practical problems. In order to cultivate practical preventive medicine talents in line with the needs of the times, the training mode based on student research training projects still needs considerable efforts in many aspects, including project approval, project guidance, project evaluation and so on.
