Objective:To understand the use of post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and analyze related factors among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Qingdao, and provide a reference for the AIDS prevention and control in this population. Methods:A cross-sectional survey conducted from April 2022 to February 2023. Relying on MSM social groups in Qingdao, a snowball sampling method was applied to recruit research subjects who met the inclusion criteria of age ≥18 years old, having had homosexual anal or oral sex in the past six months, and HIV-negative or infection status unknown. The sample size was estimated at 566. Data on demographic characteristics, sexual behavior characteristics, PEP use, and others of the research subjects was collected through on-site questionnaires. The logistic regression model was used to analyze the factors associated with using PEP.Results:A total of 811 participants were recruited, mainly aged 25-34 (53.6%, 435/811), unmarried (74.7%, 606/811), with an average monthly income of ≥5 000 yuan (52.2%, 423/811), and having lived in Qingdao for ≥10 years (75.6%, 613/811). The proportion of those who knew the HIV status of their sexual partners in the last six months was 67.1% (544/811), and those with HIV-positive partners were 3.6% (29/811). In the last six months, the proportion of participants who had group sex (86.4%, 701/811), unprotected anal sex (98.2%, 796/811), and use of club drugs (80.3%, 651/811) was high. Moreover, 28.4% (230/811) had used PEP. The multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the factors related to the use of PEP included divorced or widowed (a OR=5.46,95% CI:1.96-15.17), average monthly income ≥5 000 yuan (a OR=2.04,95% CI:1.44-2.89), same-sex sexual orientation (a OR=0.40,95% CI:0.22-0.71), having HIV-positive sexual partners in the last six months (a OR=2.54,95% CI:1.13-5.71) and having been tested for HIV ≥3 times in the last six months (a OR=1.46,95% CI:1.04-2.06). Conclusions:The prevalence of risk behaviors among MSM in Qingdao was high, and the use of PEP was low. In the future, it is essential to increase HIV/AIDS prevention education among MSM, promote MSM to know the HIV status of their sexual partners, and reduce the prevalence of risk behaviors among this population. Additionally, explore medical insurance reimbursement plans for PEP to reduce utilization costs and promote the use of PEP by MSM after HIV exposure occurs as soon as possible.

Objective:To compare the clinical effect of transaxillary non-inflatable endoscopic surgery and traditional open thyroid surgery in the treatment of PTC. Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on 342 patients with PTC treated in the Otorhinolaryngology Department of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University from December 2020 to December 2022. There were 73 males and 269 females, aged 16-72 years, who underwent unilateral non-inflatable transaxillary endoscopic thyroid surgery(endoscopic group) and unilateral traditional open thyroid surgery(open group). There were 108 patients in the endoscopic group and 234 in the open group. Results:The endoscopic group was lower in age(37.1±9.4 vs 43.5±11.2) years and BMI(23.4±3.4 vs 25.7±3.8 )kg/m² than that in the open group, and the difference was statistically significant(t was 5.53, 5.67 respectively, P<0.01). There was no significant difference in hospitalization days between the two groups(P>0.05). The logarithmic curve of the operation time showed a smooth downward trend, and the overall operation time of the endoscopic group was relatively consistent. There was no significant difference in intraoperative blood loss between the endoscopic group(13.3±3.2) mL and the open group(14.7±6.3) mL(P>0.05), but the operation time(130.1±37.9) min was longer than that in the open group(57.4±13.7) min, and the difference was statistically significant(t=19.40, P<0.01). There was no significant difference in complications such as temporary recurrent laryngeal nerve injury within 3 days after operation between the two groups(P>0.05). The aesthetic satisfaction score of the surgical incision and the incision concealment effect score in the endoscopic group were higher than those in the open group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion:Compared with traditional open thyroidectomy, transaxillary non-inflatable endoscopic thyroidectomy has more advantages in the concealment and aesthetics of postoperative incision. Although the former has longer operation time and more drainage, it is still a safe and feasible surgical method with good postoperative clinical effect.

Spatialomics is another research hotspot of biotechnology after single-cell sequencing technology, which can make up for the defect that single-cell sequencing technology can not obtain cell spatial distribution information. Spatialomics mainly studies the relative position of cells in tissue samples to reveal the effect of cell spatial distribution on diseases. In recent years, spatialomics has made new progress in the pathogenesis, target exploration, drug development and many other aspects of head and neck tumors. This paper summarizes the latest progress of spatialomics in the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck cancer.

The acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain (ACSL) belongs to an enzyme encoded by a polygenic family. ACSL, located in the endoplasmic reticulum and outer mitochondrial membrane, can catalyze fatty acids to form acyl-CoA, participating in many physiological processes, such as fatty acid metabolism and membrane modification. The ACSL family plays different roles in the fatty acid metabolism of different cells, and its dysfunction can lead to conditions such as fatty liver, arteriosclerosis, and diabetes. As a major subtype of the ACSL family in the liver, ACSL family member 1 (ACSL1) is mainly involved in the maintenance of cholesterol stability, fatty acid activation, and bile acid metabolism. It is also associated with the development of certain liver diseases such as hepatocellular carcinoma and steatosis. This paper reviews differences in physiological functions and functional characteristics of ACSL family members. It also discusses the advances in studies on the role of ACSL1 in influencing lipid metabolism, regulating cellular iron death, and the development of related diseases such as liver fibrosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, cachexia, steatosis, thyroid cancer, and breast cancer.

Objective:To understand the current status of monkeypox knowledge and related factors among men who have sex with men (MSM) in China. Methods:The survey was conducted in 30 provinces from September 5 to 10, 2022. With the assistance of social organizations of MSM, MSM respondents were recruited one-to-one by investigators through a convenient sampling method. Respondents log in to the questionnaire star to participate in the anonymous online survey. The sample size was estimated at 5 070 based on China's population infectious disease prevention literacy level of 25%. The self-administered online questionnaire collected information on sociodemographic, behavioral, HIV infection status, attention to monkeypox, and knowledge of monkeypox. The logistic regression model was used to analyze the factors associated with knowledge awareness of monkeypox. Results:Among 5 780 MSM subjects, the awareness rate of monkeypox knowledge was 31.8% (1 840/5 780). The results of multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the related factors with higher awareness rate of monkeypox knowledge in MSM included the current address was in the eastern region ( OR=1.26, 95% CI: 1.01-1.56), college education level or above ( OR=1.50, 95% CI:1.14-1.97), the number of anal-sex partners in the last month was ≥3 ( OR=1.71, 95% CI: 1.28-2.28) or 2 ( OR=1.36, 95% CI:1.07-1.73), and there was no homosexual group sex in the last month ( OR=1.20, 95% CI:1.01-1.43), they had no heterosexual behavior ( OR=1.28, 95% CI:1.02-1.62), were HIV negative ( OR=1.85, 95% CI:1.44-2.36) or HIV positive ( OR=1.65, 95% CI:1.27-2.16), and paid frequent attention to monkeypox information ( OR=7.08, 95% CI: 5.28-9.48), occasional attention ( OR=4.52, 95% CI: 3.49-5.86) or minimal attention ( OR=2.55, 95% CI: 1.93-3.37). Conclusions:MSM has some attention and understanding of monkeypox in China, but the awareness rate of monkeypox knowledge is not high. It is necessary to strengthen the awareness of monkeypox knowledge among the MSM population with junior middle school education or below, who ignore the epidemic of monkeypox, have not been tested for HIV, and have had homosexual group sex or heterosexual sex to promote monkeypox prevention and self monitoring among MSM.

As a key measure for the diagnosis of HIV infection, HIV testing is essential for AIDS prevention and control. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of HIV testing provided through medical health institutions and social organizations was significantly decreased. The demand for HIV self-testing increased rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and HIV self-testing has become an important supplement to HIV testing in medical institutions. During the COVID-19 pandemic, HIV testing was mainly affected by medical services, COVID-19 prevention and control measures, individual's willingness to undergo testing, the number of sex partners and other factors in terms of both supply and demand. This article summarizes the overall impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on HIV testing, including different testing methods, the related factors and strategies for the improvement of HIV testing. The goal is to provide evidence-based insights for strengthening HIV testing services during infectious diseases pandemic.

Objective:To understand and analyze the incidence of HIV infection in club drug abusers among men who have sex with men (MSM) in Qingdao and provide a reference for the prevention and intervention of this population. Methods:From March 2017 to July 2022, club drug abusers among MSM who are HIV-negative were recruited by snowball sampling of MSM social organizations in Qingdao, a prospective cohort was established, and a follow-up survey was conducted every six months, with the sample size estimated to be 436. The survey contents included demographic characteristics, sexual characteristics, AIDS knowledge awareness, club drug abuse, HIV testing, and other information. HIV infection was the outcome-dependent variable, and the interval between the recruitment into the cohort and the HIV infection was the time-dependent variable. Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was conducted to identify the related factors for HIV infection. Results:A total of 987 participants of club drug abusers among MSM were recruited during the baseline survey and 826 eligible participants were enrolled in this cohort. A total of 46 HIV infection cases were found, and the cumulative follow-up time was 1 960.68 person-years. The incidence of HIV infection was 2.35/100 person-years. The multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that <30 (a HR=3.04, 95% CI: 1.62-5.71) non-Shandong residents (a HR=2.29,95% CI:1.20-4.39) found their partners through offline (a HR=4.62,95% CI:2.05-10.41), homosexual sexual partners >4 (a HR=3.06,95% CI:1.59-5.88), condom broken during sex (a HR=2.24,95% CI:1.21-4.17) and hemorrhage sexual intercourse (a HR=2.56,95% CI:1.31-5.03) were significantly associated with HIV infection in this cohort. Conclusions:The incidence of HIV infection in club drug abusers among MSM in Qingdao is generally low, but knowledge and practice have separated, and the risk of HIV infection is high. The related factors of HIV infection included younger age, non-Shandong residents, finding their partners offline, multiple sexual partners, condom break during sex, and hemorrhage sexual intercourse; HIV-related behavioral intervention should be strengthened.

Objective:To evaluate the residual risk (RR) of transfusion transmitted HIV (TT-HIV) after the implementation of nucleic acid amplification test (NAT) in blood screening test among blood centers in China. Methods:The data of blood donors and HIV infection markers from 2017 to 2020 were collected from 28 blood centers via the Platform of Comparison of blood establishments Practice in Chinese Mainland. The new infection rate/window period mathematical model was used for two types of blood screening strategies, namely, two rounds ELISA plus individual NAT take turn with pooling NAT (2ELISA+ ID-NAT/MP-NAT) and two ELISA plus one round pooling NAT (2ELISA+ MP-NAT), and the RR of HIV infection was estimated also based on first donors (FDs) and repeated donors (RDs) in different blood donation years. T-test analyses were conducted for comparing TT HIV RR among FDs and RDs in different blood donation years with two blood screening strategies, and the variation trend of RR in HIV test was observed. Results:From 2017 to 2020, the RR of FDs in 2ELISA+ ID-NAT/MP-NAT blood screening strategy was 2.869/10 6 person-year, 3.795/10 6 persons-year, 3.879/10 6 person-year, and 2.890/10 6 person-year respectively. The RR of RDs was 1.797/10 6 person-year, 1.502/10 6 person-year, 1.857/10 6 person-year, and 1.483/10 6 person-year respectively. Significant difference exists between RR of FDs and RDs, with F=9.898 and p<0.05. In 2ELISA+ MP-NAT strategy, the RR of FDs was 3.508/10 6 person-year, 1.868/10 6 person-year, 2.204/10 6 person-year, and 1.765/10 6 person-year respectively. The RR of RDs was 0.948/10 6 person-year, 0.926/10 6 person-year, 0.748/10 6 person-year, and 0.682/10 6 person-year respectively. Statistical difference existed between RR of FDs and RDs, with F=17.126 and P<0.05. There was no significant difference between the RR of FDs in these two strategies with F=3.493 and P>0.05, while there was a difference between the RR of RDs in these two strategies with F=24.516 and P<0.05, and a difference between the RR of total donors (TDs) in these two strategies F=20.216 and P<0.05. Conclusions:The RR of TT HIV significantly decreased after the introduction of NAT into blood test among blood centers in China. There were some differences in the RR of HIV testing among different blood screening strategies. There could be significant differences in the RR of HIV testing among different groups of blood donors. Compared with FDs, RDs is the low risk group for HIV.
