On the basis of the clinical characteristics of atherosclerosis(AS)in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and Western medicine, this paper analyzes common animal models of AS.The coincidence of clinical characteristics of the models was scored in the hope of providing new ideas and a reference for those studying AS.This paper reviews the varieties, modeling method, modeling principles, and characteristics of common animal models of AS.Moreover, similarities among common animal models,in terms of their clinical diagnostic criteria and symptom characteristics, were assessed.High-fat feeding type, mechanical injury combined with high-fat feeding type, genetic engineering combined with high-fat feeding type, chemical induction combined with high-fat feeding type, and combined Chinese clinical syndrome and Western disease AS models are widely established.Comparative analysis showed that balloon injury combined with high fat feeding type,ApoE receptor-knockout mouse combined with high-fat diet type, and phlegm and blood stasis type models of disease and symptom combinations showed a comparatively high level of clinical agreement between Chinese and Western medicine.Presently, most animal models of AS have a high degree of relevance to Western medicine, and the evaluation criteria used for the models are predominately from a Western medicine perspective.Models that combine disease and syndrome are lacking, hindering the development of wholism concepts and treatment through the differentiation of syndromes used in TCM.Therefore, establishing an animal model with a high degree of accuracy and coincidence between TCM and Western perspectives that combines the disease and its TCM symptoms is a top priority for studying the prevention and treatment of AS.

This study aimed to evaluate the therapeutic potential of inhibiting protein arginine methyltransferase 5(PRMT5)in cisplatin-induced hearing loss. The effects of PRMT5 inhibition on cisplatin-induced auditory injury were determined using immunohistochemistry, apoptosis assays, and auditory brainstem response. The mechanism of PRMT5 inhibition on hair cell survival was assessed using RNA-seq and Cleavage Under Targets and Tagment-quantitative polymerase chain reaction(CUT&Tag-qPCR)analyses in the HEI-OC1 cell line.Pharmacological inhibition of PRMT5 significantly alleviated cisplatin-induced damage to hair cells and spiral ganglion neurons in the cochlea and decreased apoptosis by protecting mitochondrial function and preventing the accumulation of reactive oxygen species.CUT&Tag-qPCR analysis demonstrated that inhibition of PRMT5 in HEI-OC1 cells reduced the accumulation of H4R3me2s/H3R8me2s marks at the promoter region of the Pik3ca gene, thus activating the expression of Pik3ca.These findings suggest that PRMT5 inhibitors have strong potential as agents against cisplatin-induced ototoxicity and can lay the foundation for further research on treatment strategies of hearing loss.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2023;35(7):602-606
Objective:
To investigate the mortality of malignant tumors, diabetes, cardio-cerebrovascular diseases and chronic respiratory diseases and trends in probability of premature mortality due to these four chronic diseases in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province from 2012 to 2021, so as to provide the evidence for perfecting the chronic disease control strategy.
Methods:
The mortality of malignant tumors, diabetes, cardio-cerebrovascular diseases and chronic respiratory diseases among household registered residents in Jiangmen City from 2012 to 2021 were collected from the Guangdong Provincial Population Death Information Registration Management System, and the crude mortality, standardized mortality by the population of the Fifth National Population Census in China in 2000 and probability of premature mortality were calculated. The trends in mortality and probability of premature mortality were analyzed using average annual percent change (AAPC), and whether achieving the targets for the probability of premature mortality due to four chronic diseases in 2025 and 2030 were evaluated.
Results:
A total of 226 012 deaths occurred due to four chronic diseases in Jiangmen City from 2012 to 2021, and the overall crude mortality and standardized mortality rates were 569.22/105 and 283.29/105, with a reduction in the probability of premature mortality from 15.04% to 12.05% (AAPC=-2.403%, Z=-7.603, P<0.001). The probability of premature mortality due to four chronic diseases decreased from 19.21% to 16.38% in males, and from 10.42% to 7.58% in females (AAPC=-1.893% and -3.085%, Z=-5.262 and -9.811, both P<0.001). The probability of premature mortality due to diabetes appeared a tendency towards a rise (AAPC=2.317%, Z=2.548, P=0.034), and the probability of premature mortality due to cardio-cerebrovascular diseases showed a tendency towards a decline (AAPC=-4.826%, Z=-13.590, P<0.001), while no significant changing trend was seen in the probability of premature mortality due to malignant tumors or chronic respiratory diseases (AAPC=-0.751% and -2.461%, Z=-1.532 and -1.730, P=0.125 and 0.122). The predicted probability of premature mortality due to four chronic diseases was 10.92% in 2025 and 9.66% in 2030 in Jiangmen City, which were both lower than the target (11.21% and 9.81%).
Conclusions
The probability of premature mortality due to four chronic diseases appeared a tendency towards a decline in Jiangmen City from 2012 to 2021, which can reach the target in 2025 and 2030. Males should be given a high priority for interventions of chronic diseases, and diabetes control should be reinforced.

Chinese Journal of Blood Transfusion 2022;35(1):13-16
【Objective】 To explore ways to recruit blood donors effectively, so as to ensure blood supply for hospitals in Shenzhen with good compliance with the requirements concerning COVID-19 prevention and control. 【Methods】 From January 31 to March 31, 2020, a recruiting vanguard lead by Party members aimed at "COVID-19 control, blood supply security" was established. Otherwise, the traditional recruiting (via telephone/SMS) and on-site(on the streets) recruiting were also enhanced. The effects of the above three recruitment methods during this period, relative to the same period in 2019, were counted and analyzed. 【Results】 A total of 19 752 blood donors were recruited, and more were recruited by on-site (15 643, 79.19%) than by telephone and SMS(4 109, 20.81%), as on-site recruitment was more persuasive than the traditional one. The success rates of telephone recruitment and SMS recruitment were 11.66% (2 034 / 17 448) and 3.92% (2 075/52 915), respectively, and both were significantly higher than that in the same period in 2019(7.55% and 2.36%) (P<0.05). And the proportion of donors with local registered residence, aged 30-49 and bachelor degree or above in this period were significantly higher than those in the same period in 2019 (P<0.05), but with no significant differences in gender or first-time/repeated blood donors (P>0.05). 【Conclusion】 In times of emergency, efficient recruiting method could be achieved by grouping a vanguard, conducting scientific measures, and carrying out effect evaluation. Besides, preference could be given to donors with local registered residence, middle-age (30~50 years old) and better educated background.

OBJECTIVE To sort out and analyze the expression and provisions of drug standards in the text of the newly revised Drug Administration Law ,and to explore the connotation and legal positioning of drug registration standards so as to provide reference for the rational application and interpretation of relevant provisions of drug standards in Drug Administration Law . METHODS Through the review of the evolution of drug standard management in China ,the legal provisions of drug standard in the Drug Administration Law were analyzed. Comparative study and literature research methods were used to analyze the legal expression and connotation of drug standards. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS There were different expressions about “national drug standards ”“drug standards ”and“quality standards ”in the current provisions of the newly revised Drug Administration Law ; the legal position of the provincial-level standard for the preparation of Chinese herbal pieces was not clear ,and there may be insufficient legal regulation in the enforcement of drug administration. It is necessary to make an administrative interpretation for the content of relevant drug standards and provisions ,and further clarify the legal attributes of drug standards in the processing of provincial Chinese herbal pieces in order to promote the standardized management of Chinese herbal pieces.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2021;23(5):658-662
Objective:To analyze the cause of poor distance visual acuity after refractive rotationally asymmetric multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in cataract patients. Methods:The data were collected from patients who underwent cataract phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens (refractive rotationally asymmetric multifocal intraocular lens, SBL-3) implantation at Beijing Aier Intech Eye Hospital from December 2016 to December 2018, and followed up for six months after operation. Standard logarithmic visual acuity chart was used to record uncorrected distance visual acuity, best corrected distance visual acuity, intermediate visual acuity, and near visual acuity. Defocus curve was drawn. The corneal topography, postoperative visual quality and intraocular lens centered or not were checked by Itrace. Results:Total 95 eyes of 70 patients were implemented by cataract phacoemulsification combined with regional refractive intraocular lens operation. Among them, uncorrected distance visual acuity of 16 eyes of 16 patients, were less than or equal to 0.6. The distance power zone of the intraocular lens of 7 patients were placed in the area of high corneal refractive power. Because of measurement error, reserved error, etc, the power of IOL in 7 patients had deviations. Farsightedness and dizziness occurred in 2 patients. The visual discomfort symptoms disappeared and vision improved through intraocular lens positioning. Conclusions:The poor quality of distance visual acuity is mainly caused by the coincidence of the distance power zone with the corneal high-refractive region, the deviation of the power of the intraocular lens, and the intraocular lens center shift. If the cornea has a high refractive area, the distance power zone should avoid to be placed in the same area. The intraocular lens should be reserved between 0-+ 0.25 D. Two-step surgery is recommended. It′s also recommended to make sure the lens is centered during the operation by lens reflection method.

Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics 2020;37(8):895-897
OBJECTIVE:
To report on a novel KIR3DL3 allele identified in a southern Han Chinese individual.
METHODS:
Peripheral blood sample was collected from a voluntary blood donor with inconclusive result by KIR3DL3 sequence-based typing (SBT). Total mRNA was extracted and subjected to reverse transcription to obtain KIR3DL3 cDNA, which was then amplified by PCR with a pair of KIR3DL3-specific primers. The product was subjected to cDNA cloning and sequencing.
RESULTS:
cDNA cloning and sequencing have identified a wide-type KIR3DL3*00802 allele and a novel KIR3DL3*064 allele. The latter differed from KIR3DL3*00601 by a missense variant at codon 374[c.1184 C>T (p.Thr374Ile)] in exon 9. The novel KIR3DL3 allele has been officially assigned by the KIR subcommittee of World Health Organization Nomenclature Committee for factors of HLA system.
CONCLUSION
cDNA cloning and sequencing may be used to distinguish inconclusive results in KIR3DL3 SBT in order to identify novel KIR alleles.
