1.Cytology Smears of Rapid On-site Evaluation as Supplemental Material for Molecular Testing of Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.

		                        			BACKGROUND:
		                        			The thoracic small biopsy sampling procedure including transbronchial forceps lung biopsy (TBLB) and endobronchial ultrasound transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) can be accompanied by rapid on-site evaluation (ROSE) of sample material to provide immediate feedback for the proceduralist. The present study aims to investigate the supplemental effect of ROSE smear samples for lung cancer molecular test.
		                        		
		                        			METHODS:
		                        			In a retrospective study, 308 patients admitted to our hospital from August 2020 to December 2022 undergoing diagnostic TBLB and EBUS-TBNA with ROSE and subsequently diagnosed as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were analyzed. The matched formalin-fixed paraffin-embedding (FFPE) tissue section and ROSE smears for tumor cellularity were compared. DNA yields of smears were determined. Real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS) were performed on adequate smear samples.
		                        		
		                        			RESULTS:
		                        			ROSE smear samples were enriched in tumor cells. Among 308 biopsy samples, 78 cases (25.3%) exhibited inadequate FFPE tissue sections, whereas 44 cases (14.3%) yielded adequate smear samples. Somatic mutations detected in the FFPE tissue section samples were also detected in the matching adequate smear sample.
		                        		
		                        			CONCLUSIONS
		                        			ROSE smear samples of the thoracic small biopsies are beneficial supplemental materials for ancillary testing of lung cancer. Combined use of cytology smear samples with traditional FFPE section samples can enhance the detection rate of informative mutations in patients with advanced NSCLC. We recommend that the laboratory could further evaluate the ROSE cell smears of the patient when FFPE tissue sections are inadequate, and that adequate cell smears can be used as a supplemental source for the molecular testing of NSCLC.

2.Association between temperature and mortality: a multi-city time series study in Sichuan Basin, southwest China.

		                        			BACKGROUND:
		                        			There are few multi-city studies on the association between temperature and mortality in basin climates. This study was based on the Sichuan Basin in southwest China to assess the association of basin temperature with non-accidental mortality in the population and with the temperature-related mortality burden.
		                        		
		                        			METHODS:
		                        			Daily mortality data, meteorological and air pollution data were collected for four cities in the Sichuan Basin of southwest China. We used a two-stage time-series analysis to quantify the association between temperature and non-accidental mortality in each city, and a multivariate meta-analysis was performed to obtain the overall cumulative risk. The attributable fractions (AFs) were calculated to access the mortality burden attributable to non-optimal temperature. Additionally, we performed a stratified analyses by gender, age group, education level, and marital status.
		                        		
		                        			RESULTS:
		                        			A total of 751,930 non-accidental deaths were collected in our study. Overall, 10.16% of non-accidental deaths could be attributed to non-optimal temperatures. A majority of temperature-related non-accidental deaths were caused by low temperature, accounting for 9.10% (95% eCI: 5.50%, 12.19%), and heat effects accounted for only 1.06% (95% eCI: 0.76%, 1.33%). The mortality burden attributable to non-optimal temperatures was higher among those under 65 years old, females, those with a low education level, and those with an alternative marriage status.
		                        		
		                        			CONCLUSIONS
		                        			Our study suggested that a significant association between non-optimal temperature and non-accidental mortality. Those under 65 years old, females, and those with a low educational level or alternative marriage status had the highest attributable burden.

3.Research progress of acute idiopathic maculopathy

		                        			 Acute idiopathic maculopathy(AIM)is an inflammatory lesion of unknown cause that primarily affects the macula. It follows a unique natural course, distinct from other maculopathy, often manifesting as a sudden loss of visual acuity followed by flu-like symptoms that gradually resolve as the disease subsides. A comprehensive understanding of the unique history, multimodal imaging, and a thorough systematic examination are crucial in determining the final diagnosis of AIM. The treatment and prognosis of AIM remain controversial. Meanwhile, it presents similar clinical manifestations and pathological changes to various chorioretinopathy, posing challenges for clinical differentiation. This article provides a review of its pathogenesis, clinical symptoms, multimodal imaging features, diagnosis and differential diagnosis, treatment and prognosis, in order to reduce misdiagnosis and mistreatment while enhancing comprehension of AIM. 
		                        		
		                        		
		                        		
		                        	
4.Association between temperature and volume of emergency medical service response due to injury in Chengdu

		                        			Background Injury is a major public health issue, and studying the correlation between temperature and injury in the context of climate change is of great significance for injury prevention and control. Objective To analyze the association between temperature and the volume of emergency medical service response due to injury in Chengdu. Methods Using a retrospective ecological study design, weather data in Chengdu were collected from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2023 from Chengdu Meteorological Office, including daily average temperature, daily average relative humidity, average wind speed, average pressure, sunshine, and rainfall. Emergency medical service data were collected from an emergency medical service center in Chengdu. A distributional lag non-linear model was conducted to calculate the association between temperature and volume of emergency medical service response due to injury, and gender- and age-stratified analyses were followed to identify susceptible groups. 		                        			Chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS)is a chronic,multi-system disease manifested as prolonged fatigue and often accompanied by somatization symptoms that include muscle pain and sleep disorders,which is why CFS impacts patients'life and health.However,the etiology of CFS remains unknown.There is no specific treatment as well.Treatments currently available mostly use specific medicines to treat specific symptoms or assist clinicians by such means as cognitive-behavioral therapies or nutritional support.While on long-distance voyages,the Navy soldiers spend a long time in relatively closed environments under high pressure,which is likely to result in physical and mental fatigue and even CFS.This paper reviews the causes,current level of diagnosis,as well as the treatment and prevention of CFS in order to contribute to the health and operational capability of Navy soldiers.

7.HPV infection in Jiading District of Shanghai and its relationship with cervical lesions

		                        			Objective To investigate human papillomavirus(HPV)infection in Jiading District of Shang-hai,and to explore the relationship between different HPV subtypes and cervical lesions.Methods A retro-spective analysis was conducted for HPV subtype results and pathological results during the same period of time from 19 030 patients who visited Maternity and Children Health Care Hospital of Jiading District from March 13th,2023 to March 31,2024,and underwent the HPV subtype detection.The relationship between HPV infection and age and cervical lesions were analyzed.Results Out of 19 030 samples,3 506 were HPV positive,and the infection rate was 18.42%.There were 2 185 cases of single infection and 1 321 cases of mul-tiple infection.The HPV infection rate in each age group were as below:the infection rates were 30.34%in≤20-year-old group,18.46%in 20-30 year-old group,16.46%in>30-40 year-old group,14.83%in>40-50 year-old group,21.29%in>50-60 year-old group and 32.74%in>60 year-old group,and there was a statistically significant difference in HPV infection rates among different age groups(P<0.001).The top 5 subtypes were type 52(21.50%),53(10.84%),58(10.02%),33(8.33%)and 59(6.85%).The proportions of the who progressed to higher-level cervical lesions in individuals with HPV subtypes of the top 5 infection rates,as well as those with HPV16 and 18 positive,were significantly higher than that in HPV negative indi-viduals,among which the individuals with HPV16,18,58,and 33 were more likely to progress to severe cervi-cal lesions[atypical squamous cells:cannot exclude high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion(ASC-H)+low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion(LSIL)+high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion(HSIL)+squamous cell carcinoma(SCC)](P<0.05).Compared to HPV 52 positive individuals with the highest infection rate,HPV 16,18,58,and 33 positive individuals were more likely to progress to higher-level cervical lesions(P<0.05).Conclusion HPV infection rates in≤20 year-old group and>60 year-old group are relatively high in Jiading District of Shanghai.The risk of progression to cervical lesions varies among different HPV subtypes.In addition to HPV 16 and 18,HPV 58 and HPV 33 are also closely related to higher levels of cervical lesions and should be given sufficient attention.

		                        			Using big data and artificial intelligence to establish a multi-point monitoring, early warning, and disposal system to achieve early warning and intervention of infectious disease outbreaks is an important means of controlling the spread of the epidemic. Taking Xiaoshan district as an example, this study analyzes the monitoring contents, warning methods, and application effectiveness of the infectious disease monitoring, early warning and disposal system. Based on Xiaoshan′s health big data resources, the system starts with syndrome, disease diagnosis and etiology. Through advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and block chain, it realizes early identification of infectious disease outbreaks, data fusion, multi-cross collaboration, and closed-loop management. 10.Changes of corneal nerve fiber and the correlation analysis with visual acuity in demyelinating optical neuritis patients

		                        			Objective:To investigate the changes in the nerve fiber layer of the cornea in patients with demyelinating optic neuritis (DON) and its correlation with visual acuity.Methods:A cross-sectional study. From March 2021 to July 2022, 27 cases (39 eyes) of DON patients diagnosed in the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology of Beijing Tongren Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University were enrolled in this study. According to the serological test results, the patients were divided into aquaporin 4 antibody associated optic neuritis (AQP4-ON group) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody associated optic neuritis (MOG-ON group), with 15 cases (19 eyes) and 12 cases (20 eyes) respectively. According to previous history of glucocorticoid treatment, the patients were divided into glucocorticoid treated group and non-glucocorticoid treated group, with 17 cases (27 eyes) and 10 cases (12 eyes) respectively. Twenty healthy volunteers (20 eyes) with age- and gender-matched were selected as the control group. All eyes underwent best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and in vivo confocal microscopy (IVCM) examinations. BCVA was performed using Snellen's standard logarithmic visual acuity chart, which was converted into logarithmic minimum angle resolution (logMAR) visual acuity during statistics. The corneal nerve fiber length (CNFL), corneal nerve fiber density (CNFD), corneal nerve fiber branch length (CNBL), corneal nerve fiber branch density (CNBD) and the density of corneal dendritic cells (DC) were detected by IVCM examination. Parameter comparison between groups by t-test and Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test. The correlation between logMAR BCVA and pamameters of corneal nerve fibers were analyzed using Spearman analysis. Results:The CNFL, CNFD, and CNBL of the DON group and the control group were (10.67±2.55) mm/mm 2, (57.78±12.35) root/mm 2, (3.27±1.34) mm/mm 2, and (13.74±3.05) mm/mm 2, (70.95±13.14) root/mm 2, and (4.22±1.03) mm/mm 2, respectively; the difference in CNFL, CNFD, and CNBL between the two groups were statistically significant ( t=4.089, 3.795, 2.773; P<0.05). The CNFL, CNBL, and CNBD of the affected eyes in the MOG-ON group and AQP4-ON group were (12.02±2.13) mm/mm 2, (3.80±1.19) mm/mm 2, (47.97±8.86) fibers/mm 2, and (9.25±2.19) mm/mm 2, (2.72±1.19) mm/mm 2, (39.43±13.86) fibers/mm 2, respectively; the differences in CNFL, CNBL, and CNBD between the two groups were statistically significant ( t=-4.002, -2.706, -2.306; P<0.05). The corneal DC density of the patients in the hormone treated group and the non-hormone treated group was (24.43±8.32) and (41.22±9.86) cells/mm 2, respectively. The difference in corneal DC density between the two subgroups was statistically significant ( P<0.001). Correlation analysis showed that there was a significant negative correlation between logMAR BCVA and CNBL and CNFL in patients with DON ( r=-0.422, -0.456; P<0.05). Conclusions:There are different degrees of corneal nerve fiber damage in patients with different types of DON.
