The current title was adopted in 2003 following a merger of West China University of Medical Sciences with Sichuan University. This 65-year history parallels China’s increasing investment in biomedical research infrastructure, establishing the journal as a key chronicler of China’s advancements in this field. The journal’s archives provide a unique historical perspective on significant breakthroughs in China in areas such as infectious disease control, the integration of traditional medicine, and public health policy—all crucial themes in addressing global healthcare challenges. 2.
