Abstract: Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in newborns, especially in premature infants. The pathogenesis of NEC is closely related to intestinal microbiota disorders. In recent years, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has been widely used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and extra-gastrointestinal diseases in adults and children. A large number of studies have also been conducted in NEC animal models. This article reviews the possible mechanism of FMT in the treatment of NEC and the progress in this respect.
